There are many ice cream options in Estes, but this is the one that we usually visit when we're in town. They have a great selection of flavors to suit virtually many different palates, preferences, or allergies. Within reason, you can ask for a sample before choosing. I really enjoy the Mango Cream and the Irish Cream. One of the things we really like about this place is that there is some outdoor seating on the back along the stream. read more

Ice cream was okay. Ends there though. To start 2 of the 3 workers were not wearing gloves... not sure if this a health violation but I thought it was nasty considering how far their hands go down into the ice cream to scoop it. Secondly one of the workers made an obscene comment about a diet to someone in my party who was female. Joke or not you do not make diet or weight jokes to a woman... or anyone if you're and employee somewhere. This place will not see my business ever again and I hope that employee is fired and the glove situation is figured out. read more

My wife and I stopped in to try the truffles and were disappointed. At $2.75 each, we expected much more flavor, but they were very bland. Honestly, Dove or Ghirardelli chocolates from a regular grocery store would have been a better option. Customer service was mediocre--just a quick greeting when we walked in and nothing beyond that. Overall, nothing about the experience stood out, and there are better places in town for truffles. I wouldn't recommend this shop for them. read more

The mint chocolate chip ice cream at Munchkin House is hands down the best I've ever had. The mint is fresh and not too sweet, the chocolate chips have the perfect crunch, and the texture is so creamy it almost melts before you finish a bite. I've tried this flavor everywhere, but nothing comes close. Also, the store is usually packed but the line moves quick. read more

Solid ice cream, even if the price is somewhat steep. At first, I got scared because I thought the cup I was receiving was much smaller than what I was used to (was getting a single scoop). However, my eyes deceived me and the single scoop was actually quite plentiful. Unlike some of the other ice cream places, I was able to get my favorite flavor here: cookies n cream. And to no surprise, it was pretty damn good. This ended up being a final dessert of sorts in Estes Park, so I'm happy to have ended my food experience off with a bang. read more

Super cute ice cream shop that was open late for us to get ice a cream before leaving Estes Park. The bookstore I went to earlier had recommended it and it was great! They had so many different flavors which made it so hard to pick, and I eventually went with the Caramel cheesecake one. It was a bit on the heavier end and was hard to finish, but I liked how you can taste all the different flavors and wasn't overly sweet. I wish I wasn't full from dinner because I would have gotten another flavor as well! read more

Everyone enjoyed the ice cream and shakes. I had an Irish cream and chocolate chip shake, which tasted awesome and had a ton of chocolate, but I wouldn't do it again because the many chocolate chips jammed the straw and I didn't really get to enjoy them much. Everyone else got cones of cups with mint chocolate chip, coffee, and a few other flavors. They have a huge selection of treats and ice cream flavors and played some good 90s music. If you leave out the rear, it throws you back onto the riverwalk. read more

Pretty creamy ice cream here! The server was nice and was amused by my reactions to the ice cream flavors I had sampled. The single scoop I got was a little over $5 after tax, but I got a good amount of ice cream out of it (~3 standard ice cream scoops). The coffee with espresso chips (??) was a great ice cream flavor for that strong coffee taste and crunch from the chips (might have had some toffee in there too, I forgot). I would recommend if you enjoy coffee! The seven layers coconut was also fantastic. Extremely creamy with coconut flakes in it - definitely better than your usual coconut ice cream. Overall, it was a solid ice cream place and I'd come back. They have a decent amount of flavors here. read more

We stopped here for ice cream for the little one. I walked in and the guy was on his phone. I waited a couple of minutes until he could tear himself away. He could not be more disinterested. He gave me a kiddie scoop in a cone but did not wear plastic gloves so the same hands that were on his phone and on the register were the ones that served the food. Nice selection of hand scooped ice cream with a very pleasant staff. The store itself is long and narrow and it's hard to tell where the lines stop and start. Had someone cut right in front of us because they had no clue either. Oh well. Place can feel pretty congested real fast. The ice cream and waffle cone was delicious. My husband and I had a craving for huckleberry ice cream, and this was the first ice cream shop we came across. I got a scoop of huckleberry in a cup, and my husband got a scoop in a waffle cone. It seemed more like a huckleberry sherbet than ice cream, but that was okay because it was absolutely delicious. A little pricey, but we expected that from a tourist area. 10/10! read more

I don't write a lot of reviews but god damn - this place deserves one. We're tourists in Estes Park, visiting for a couple of days. Had their mango + coconut ice cream milk shake, mango + blueberry cheesecake milk shake, and some other ice creams: huckleberry, mango, coconut. All of them were fabulous. The staff at the store is also super helpful and nice. This place is a must visit! read more

Had a much better experience here than the other reviewers. First of all, there are way too many ice cream and candy places in Estes Park. We went in here because it was the first place we saw that said homemade ice cream. A number of other places do as well, but there are also a couple of candy shops that serve Blue Bunny instead. Ordered rainbow sherberts for the kids and was able to score a couple of bites. The sherbert was better than average. Seemed less sweet than usual and was nice and soft. I did not taste any freezer burn. Overpriced is par for the course in Estes Park. Won't knock them for that. read more

This is easily one of the best ice-creams I've had in years! Very creamy, nice texture, and not too sweet for you to finish the whole scoop (their scoops are HUGE) We came here 2 days in a row during our visit to Rocky Mountain NP. We had cookies&cream and praline pecan the first day and we came back for vanilla bean cheesecake the other day. We liked them all! Their staffs let you taste any flavor before ordering and they're all very friendly too. I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone who's coming to visit :) read more

I cannot recall seeing such an assortment of treats in 1 store before. I wanted @ least half-a-dozen, but restrained myself. Bought a couple for immediate consumption & a few for later. Count me among the thousands who rave about the rich & creamy ice cream. I'm a fudge-a-holic too. A family-owned business, Munchin is coming up on its 50th year. The 2 young men behind the counter were friendly & very busy. They expertly managed the line, catching the eye of those who were ready to order, then returning to the browsers. It was a "treat" to walk out the back door onto the Riverwalk, sit on a bench, & eat leisurely ~ instead of standing in the Sun or getting into a hot car. read more

40 flavors of ice cream with some being in house only like the Jack Daniels Chocolate Chip, oh yeah you read that right. Caramel corn, truffles, so much yum to be had. The service was phenomenal and so friendly. This is definitely a return to next time we're in Estes. read more

This place was very good. We came in earlier in the morning and looked at fudge and Carmel corn, but didn't buy anything. That might we decided to go get ice cream and went their. They had plenty of ice cream options and I wasn't even sure what flavor to choose. I got mint chip ice cream and it was very good. I got the waffle cone and it was good. The two people that came with me and choose birthday cake and 7 layer coconut. The lady that choose 7 layer coconut said it wasn't her favorite since it doesn't really taste like coconut, but it isn't their fault since they don't make the ice cream. We didn't have to wait, and the guy giving us the ice cream was very nice. If you want ice cream I definitely recommend his place!! read more

Nothing spectacular, but good. I had a sea salt dark chocolate piece of fudge- just tasted like chocolate, not really a hint of sea salt like I was hoping. My boyfriend got a mint chocolate chip waffle cone, which was tasty. Established in 1968.

Munchin House has been a favorite of locals and visitors since 1968. It is in the heart of downtown with an entrance on Elkhorn Avenue and from Riverwalk plaza by the river. Munchin House is grateful to the many who frequent our small business and bring friends and family to enjoy our ice cream, caramel corn, fudge and espresso as you stroll through town. Munchin House has been under the current ownership since 1999. We are family run and welcome a great international crew each summer.

They all taste pretty good except for the cherry. It reminds me too much of cherry-flavored cough drops, so I wouldn't get that again. The banana was surprisingly good, with the salted caramel probably being my favorite of the ones we tried. The employees were very friendly and helpful, too.

There was a line when we got there, and it was out the door by the time we reached the front. Inside is small up front, but there's more seating around the corner plus plenty outside along the riverwalk area. The place was clean, the staff efficient and friendly, and it's a cute spot to sit. Large coffee menu, plus sandwiches, toasts, and snacks made fresh to order. Seasonal coffees -- tried a campfire-type and a coconut-type. Both fine. Not bad, not the best I've had, and not something I'd rush back for. Breakfast sandwich on a croissant -- my biggest gripe. Utterly dry and almost tasteless. The sausage, egg, and cheese were gas-station ready-to-go territory. Their bread comes in fresh-baked, but they ran the croissant through the toaster and torched it, which only made it drier. A breakfast sandwich should be juicy, cheesy, buttery -- this one needed a sauce just to get it down. Sandwich on sourdough -- a little better, but still just okay. Fine place if you're already in the area, and the coffee's fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Would recommend, would not return.

Wow! Talk about some good ice cream. The owner was very kind and considering I am celiac she spent a long time explaining to me all the different ingredients and the process their ice cream goes through to be made. All of the ice cream is homemade and they get the milk from a local Colorado dairy. The scoops are decent size, I was surprised at how big the one scoop was. Definitely the new family favorite.
