We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.

My room had chicken and rooster art, along with a yellow penguin statue, that I noticed had replicas all throughout the hotel. The phone in my room didn't work, but that wasn't a real inconvenience. It was hard to keep the thermostat at a comfortable temperature, event at night. So, I didn't sleep as well as I'd hoped. Despite that, I think I'll still come back the next time I'm in the area. I still need to fully check out the art gallery on the second floor!

The rooms aren't huge, but they're cozy, well-designed, and comfortable. It is perfect for a business trip where you just need a relaxing place to recharge. The location is a big plus, as it is easy to get around downtown and close to plenty of spots worth checking out. I also really enjoyed the hotel bar; they had a great drink menu and a good vibe for unwinding after a long day. One of the highlights was the front desk staff. The woman who checked me in was especially helpful and pointed me toward a fantastic coffee shop just a couple of blocks away, which ended up being a great find. All in all, a great stay. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Cincinnati.

Also, the lobby was clean and the guest service team was nice & delightful. I valeted my car & had no issues dropping off or picking up. It was so seamless. We ate at the bar, which I don't recommend, it tastes like frozen food but we loved that they had a happy hour for guests. The Garden Room came with the patio and it was the perfect place to bring together my vision of a summer garden party. We had the perfect amount of food from their brunch options and add ons and it was delicious! We also still had the inside room to keep the food and utilize before we went outside for the brunch. I'm not sure what the capacity is but if definitely felt like if accommodated a decent number of people without cramping us together. The floor was perfect for dancing and the bars were easily accessible. The catering quality was good. We had three different types of sliders (pulled pork, ham and cheese, and veggie) all were good. They had an excellent selection of cheeses and the desserts were petite and fantastic (perfect size for trying a few). The Mac and Cheese was good but maybe a bit garlicky. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The service was friendly and efficient. This event center is definitely worth a look!

They had complimentary fruit and coffee/tea available. I did not buy anything from their snack stand, but it was fully packed with all those travel favorites. A unique option about this hotel is that it had a grill and firepit on their patio. We just had to get the all clear from the attendant to use them. We stayed in a 4th floor king room that had a full fridge, stove top, dishwasher, work knook, and mini couch. The bathroom was spacious but there was not a tub and the toilet seat was a hard close so that caused some noise. The bed was comfortable and sheets/towels in the room were very clean. The tv was semi smart so you could log in to Netflix or Amazon prime if you wanted. Breakfast in the morning was standard continental: cereal, yogurt, breads, sausage, omelet, waffle, potatoes, and breakfast sandwiches. The staff was there cleaning and refilling the items so everyone could enjoy This hotel is accessible, but the doors were very heavy (which is great for safety).

I really appreciated having a suite with accommodations, including a fridge, dishwasher, desk and TV I could plug a computer into. Made spreading out and doing work a breeze. (I was in what they call a one bedroom so the bedroom is separate from the living space allowing me to have a colleague stop by and talk shop without being in a bedroom, which would be weird.) The staff is really friendly and helpful. Like, all of them. And they have a small conference room as needed. The place stayed busy with groups in and out. Has a nice outdoor seating area, including grill space and fire pit. The only change I would make is that the front patio allows smoking, so not being a smoker myself, it could sometimes be less pleasant if there were several people smoking at once. But more often than not, that was not the case. It would be better if there was an area mildly segregated from the main seating imo. My colleague was not a fan of the loud traffic noise in his room. You can ask to be on the side that's not noisy, although I am not bothered by that myself so it wasn't an issue for me. I will say it is very loud (on the traffic side) if that's a thing that bothers you because it's a 50 mile an hour road and there would be trucks using brakes or blowing horns on occasion that I heard when I was getting up for one reason or another at night. And (at least to me) a surprising number of people driving Hemi's or show mufflers. They actually provide earplugs next to the bed, which is a nice touch for those who are bothered. (But if you are, just ask when you call or show up to be away from the roadway or sleep with earplugs or headphones.) Breakfast buffet was the standard Marriott type spread, much better than the average in terms of freshness and attentiveness to temperature from staff (full disclosure, I don't eat breakfast so this is my observation when I would go get coffee). I personally liked the coffee (for hotel coffee, mind you), my colleague not so much. I did try to walk to some of the nearby restaurants to get a little fresh air and can tell you this area is not made for walking, so I would not recommend that. That is fine, but he comes around the corner like we interrupted him and just looked at us. We greeted him, he said "hi". We explain that we are there for two separate check-ins. We have the same last name he hands us both our paperwork together. I hand my dad his with his name on it and I take mine with my name on it. I finish first and he wants the other, I said but I am paying for mine separate, again say my room details and my name. He says ok, tells me to insert my card for my card on file. I do and then my dad does the same. He then tells us about the pending total, and we realized he swapped the cards on the rooms. We tell him what happened and he says, "There is nothing I can do to fix it". That is all he would repeat. The next day a young gentleman with long brown hair at the front desk was able to fix our cards in less than 20 mins, he was very kind and unsure why the older man couldn't help us the night before. Now our room, it was not cleaned well. We had dirt and hair in our tubs, trash under our beds and mind you there is a wood wall, it cannot go deep under the bed, trash behind our nightstands. Our bathroom was left with an almost empty roll of toilet paper and then I went to wash a plate.... the Scrub Mommy was used!! It was no longer in the packaging and had orange stains on it. I was very disappointed in our stay since our stay at Sonesta in Nashville was so great. They do not all keep the same standards!!
