A small bar as you enter that was full when we came in. We sat at a small table in the bar area. Everyone was very nice and our waitress was attentive enough - but she seemed a bit busy. But all was fine service wise. So....the food. It's weird. Like trying too hard to be different but just didn't hit the mark for me. I see bread on a menu and I get excited! So immediately I ordered the Parmesan bread with dill pickle butter. The bread was warm and I enjoyed it but the butter with dill pickle just didn't work for me. Lots of other things to me could have complemented the bread better. Then we order the lettuce wraps, they were ok. My friend ordered the duck and I tried it and we both really liked it! The vegetables were good! My sirloin....the steak itself was good despite being a tad overcooked for medium rare. Something on the plate had a curry flavor - it just didn't all go together well. Then the lemon ricotta cheesecake....we didn't taste any lemon, it was thick and weirdly dry for a cheesecake. It also had freeze dried something on top....we actually weren't sure what. Some bright spots - the food quality! You can tell that these are top notch high quality ingredients, and the cocktails! They were yummy! I just don't like the weird combos and what (to me) feels like being weird for the sake of being different versus just being good. Since I only come up here a few times a season I likely will go to our other favorites or try new spots.

The wedding we attended featured them, and after trying a few, I knew I had to visit the shop myself. They're perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and genuinely some of the best I've had. Their coffee is solid--definitely the best you'll find in this small town--and they offer a surprising variety of avocado toast options, all fresh and really thoughtfully put together. On top of that, the people who work here are so kind. It feels like the sort of place where everyone is happy to see you walk in. If you're passing through, or in town for an event like we were, this bakery is absolutely worth a stop.

What an adorable cafe!…read more We stopped in before we headed home to have coffee and breakfast. We arrived at a quiet point in the morning rush, but they do get very busy! Service is friendly and fast though even when they're packed. I had a turmeric maple latte which was unique and delicious. Along with that I had the Mountain Mama sandwich which had an egg, hummus, goat cheese, and vegetables on a super soft English muffin. It was delicious! My husband had a hummus bagel with cucumbers and tomato and it was a great light start to the day. We also tried a ham and cheese croissant which was good. It was the softer bread style croissant and had chopped rosemary ham and cheese which was delicious, I only wished there was more of it! I brought a maple molasses cookie and a butterscotch cookie home. They were both so delicious and chewy! My only criticism is I wish there was a touch more salt, but I'm nitpicking. Highly recommend stopping in for a light breakfast or lunch, and taking some baked goods for the trail!

Had a bad experience with Wally at Fandangles. We agreed on a basic menu for our wedding reception…read moreand he accepted (and cashed) my deposit to secure the day. Then I emailed him as the day got closer to give an update on the number of people we expected and to clarify a few things. We couldn't afford his appetizer option, so I mentioned that we would make our own apps. Also that we didn't want to use his cheap plastic plates and paper napkins since we wanted the event to feel more formal. We had already discussed that I would be renting china, linens, etc and he had no problem with it. Then out of the blue, he wrote back saying that he "tried but could no longer work with me" on this. He couldn't accept outside food and couldn't do our function for the same price now that it was "formal." Now, I hadn't actually spoken to him in weeks, so saying that he tried to work with me was bogus. We certainly could have worked out the appetizer situation (I can understand where he's coming from), but we hadn't changed anything on the menu and somehow he now couldn't work within our budget because we were "changing" it to formal (based on our renting china and linens). He sent my deposit back without even calling me to discuss, with less than two months until the wedding, leaving us scrambling to find someone who was available on short notice. Personally, I think he found a better paying job and decided to take it, despite having accepted and cashed my deposit check more than two months prior. Highly unprofessional and certainly unethical. What also bothered me was that I would email him a list of questions and he would always call to answer them, so I would then have to pull up my email, copy it to a word doc, then jot down notes regarding all of his answers. He didn't like email. However when it came time to drop us, he chickened out and sent an email. Not even the courtesy of a call to try to work it out, or even just to explain himself. Stay away...
