My youngest daughter had a friend who was a Swiftie (Taylor Swift fan). Her birthday party was quickly approaching. So glad we stopped here. I wanted to continue shopping, but I also had a long trek ahead of me. Very plain Jane shopping center. Free parking. Brainless drivers in this area, though. Be careful.

Apparently, you don't like my J-oaks. Let's move on. Pretty spectacular high-end outdoor shopping mall in San Antonio where, unlike the Quarry, every business seems to look the same and have the same design and storefront, which can make it really hard to actually find anything - but it's still really cool. I played a pretty famous show here a very long time ago when there used to be a Borders here. Fun times. We came here recently shopping for Barbie and we had a good time. Late night date spot called the Flying Saucer (and there I thought the one in Houston was a family business, ew). There is an ice cream store here and some bubble tea here that recently changed hands but my girlfriend hasn't changed hands in a while and hopefully she won't anytime soon.

There is also a great Lego store, Barnes and Noble, and plenty of good food choices. The worst part of La Cantera is that half of the people who go here seem like they are on their first week on Earth and do not know what they are doing. I love people who walk four in a row and block entire walkways, or people who stop randomly in the middle of the path to look at something. You make my life so miserable. Parking is also pretty insane if you are trying to park up close, but if you have patience, anything is possible. Be careful of the reckless drivers who have no courtesy for anything but themselves. The layout of the mall is pretty nice. Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom Rack have some higher price tag shops surrounding them, while Dillard's and Macy's have more affordable stores nearby. Across the street from the main hub is additional shopping with Zara, J.Crew, J.Jill, Free People, H&M, and most of the dining options, including Perry's, Grimaldi's, Yard House, Palenque Grill, Cheesecake Factory, and more. When the weather is nice and it is not scorching hot, The Shops are a great place to visit in San Antonio. Even when it is hot, there is plenty of shade and air conditioning to help make it less miserable. RIYL: Shopping around some of the most unaware people to ever exist.

We can wander through just about every store, critique the latest styles, admire great finds, laugh at questionable fashion choices, and somehow entertain ourselves for hours. This adventure took us to the Shops at La Cantera, one of his favorite shopping destinations. Unlike a traditional enclosed mall, La Cantera is an open-air shopping center where you're strolling from store to store in the Texas sunshine. Considering we've had what feels like a month of nonstop rain, I was thrilled that Mother Nature finally gave us a bright, sunny day. While the rain has been good for the lawn and plants, I am definitely ready for it to stop. We started near Nordstrom and leisurely made our way toward Zara, popping in and out of stores along the way. One of my favorite parts of shopping is discovering what's new. I was pleasantly surprised to see several stores that had opened since my last visit. Exploring those new spaces made the trip even more enjoyable. You can find a variety of price points at this mall, making it appealing to a broad range of folks. By the end of the day, my brother scored a few stylish pieces from Zara Men, while I somehow managed to leave empty-handed. Surprisingly, I didn't mind one bit. The best purchase of the day wasn't something that fit in a shopping bag...it was quality time spent catching up, sharing plenty of laughs, and enjoying a leisurely afternoon of shop surfing with my favorite shopping buddy...my big brother.

One of the many shopping areas located around the various loops (410 or 1604) in San Antonio. This…read moreone is located on the NW side along 1604 and Bandera Road. It covers a large area and you have the usual suspects that are normally found in these large centers ranging from Target, Kohls, various restaurants, and specialty shops. If you want to spend a day of shopping and pick up all you need in one spot this is the place to go and you can easily finish it off with a multitude of places to eat. The biggest drawback is of course the traffic in the area. On the weekend I would suggest being strategic and take some of the less traveled roads along the outskirts and ignore whatever navigation system you are using to reroute you. It will save you some time and frustration especially when dealing with traffic on Bandera.

Within the center are Pier 1, Old Navy, Target and Lowe's, plus many smaller stores and restaurants. Because of construction in the Bandera Road intersection there's a lot of extra traffic flowing through this shopping center right now. It's a convenient way to get around the construction, but it makes accessing different stores a little more hectic and dangerous.
