The Rim is an incredibly gigantic shopping center. This huge area has almost every store you could ever need. My husband stayed at a hotel just behind the Rim and dined at Kaffeinated Crepes and Coffee during our time in San Antonio. Kaffeinated Crepes and Coffee is a great place for fresh food and coffee (see separate review). The Rim is too large of a shopping center. It is difficult to find your way around. The streets and parking are not driver friendly. There is a severe lack of signage!!! While The Rim has a lot to offer it is not convenient or easy to get to the shops. read more

The Rim has some amazing restaurants to choose from. My favorites are Gloria's Latin Cuisine, Southleigh Haute South, North Italia and Russo's Pizzeria. Let's not forget some drinks from Rock and Rye. The Palladium theater and Bass Pro Shop are some great places to visit there. The shopping at the Rim offers many stores to conveniently choose from like JCPenney, Ross, Home goods and petsmart. If you have a full day to spend and lots to do, the Rim is a great place to start. read more

We love shopping while on trips. This shopping area is GREAT! We stayed at the Residence Inn right around the corner from The RIM so it was super convenient! We didn't hit up many stores but TJMAXX/HomeGoods, Ross and Target are favorites of ours. Didn't check out restaurants... yet. Will be back to explore more later. read more

Has a wide variety of shops, local restaurants, and of course the ever massive movie theater, Palladium. Parking is a kind of an issue around The Rustic and Hopdaddy area. But I love how many shopping options there are and the fact parking is FREE. I enjoy the mural walls for a phone and quick photo op. Definitely a store for everyone in your group. read more

The RIM is a giant shopping plaza that offers everything you need for an all day outing. SHOPPING: For the locals, it has a pretty good store selection including hobby lobby, ulta, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Ross , Michaels, Best Buy , dollar tree and several smaller shops. From electronics to makeup you're covered for an all day shopping spree. ENTERTAINMENT: The entertainment selection includes a movie theatre and a bowling alley. FOOD/RESTAURANTS:They also have a great selection of restaurants and eateries to cover your major taste buds. Yellow fish sushi for Japanese food lovers. Gloria's kitchen and Torchy's tacos for Mexican food lovers; mash'D (my favorite) for American fusion, hopdoddy burgers , urban bricks (build your own pizza) are more of sit down restaurants along with several drive thrus like Canes chickens for fast food options. Lorraine's bakery and cold stone offer specific dessert options MORE ACTIVITIES: a bit detached but within the area is also a saks fifth outlet. La cantera, a really cool outdoor mall area is only about a mile away and has a really nice walkable area with many more shopping and dining options. You can't go wrong by just driving yourself to this area. The restaurant area is booming at night on the weekends and the day is quite enough for you not to go crazy while running your errands. I do wish that they also had a grocery store there as well to complete the all in one shopping experience read more

The RIM is my go-to shopping center. It has all my favorite stores including Lane Bryant, Torrid, Old Navy, JC Penney (with Sephora), Michaels, and Vitamin Shoppe. There's also a good selection of restaurants, my favorite being Mash'd. Other fun spots include The Rustic and Bowl & Barrel. You'll definitely find a spot you'll enjoy there. Navigating The RIM can be a little tricky but once you frequent it a few times you'll master it. The restaurant-y side of The RIM even has a parking garage, which is super convenient during the summer. Traffic is a hot mess, but that's to be expected. read more

You can literally shop 'til you drop! I loved visiting The RIM while on a shopping date with my friend during my most recent visit to San Antonio. And with shops like JCPenny, Ross, Target, and the Dollar Tree, The RIM is definitely a sprawling, well maintained outdoor shopping mall/entertainment complex that spans a lot more price points than the neighboring Shops at La Cantera. It has the highs and lows of retail covered, along with hotels, condos, indoor skydiving, and SO much more. Parking wasn't atrocious either! This area has all you'll ever need within a 1 mile radius, and The RIM takes care of the majority of it all by itself! read more

If you live in the north central area of SA, I recommend coming here. There are various restaurants, places to shop, a movie theatre, plenty of places to park, a bowling alley etc. During the weekend it gets packed so parking can be difficult, however there's a parking garage nearby. For a night out I recommend going to The Rustic for live music/food, watching a movie at The Palladium or grabbing dinner at BJ's/Mash'D/Stone Werks/Torchy's Tacos. For the daytime there are plenty of places for shopping like Target, JC Penney's/Ross/Hobby Lobby etc. If you need a refreshing pick me up, stop by smoothie king for a delicious smoothie. All that's needed is a grocery store (Trader Joe's would fit nicely). read more

Traffic is terrible. Parking is terrible. People who walk to/from stores and through the parking lot who are too busy looking at their phones texting and walking blindly into traffic - absolutely terrible. I try to avoid this area as much as possible but unfortunately there are some stores I need to utilize every so often trying as much as possible to go early in the day and on off days - it helps a little read more

Tons of shops, bars, and restaurants. This is such a really cool area to come hang out or visit for date night.

My husband and I came to a North Italia on a date and had to come again, less than a week later for our kids to try it. We all loved everything we had. The chicken park, the Tuscan chicken, chicken pesto and burrata pasta plate was simply delicious. Like the kind of food that makes you dance it's so yummy. And our busboy Fernando was the absolute sweetest. He needs a promotion, he was so attentive and made sure we were absolutely happy! Everyone on staff was wonderful! Why don't ppl like the RIM? I don't get it. Sure it is not necessarily an upscale place. But it is good for what it is IMO. I come here often because they have pretty much all these stores I stop at. There is a Target, World Market, Ulta, Best Buy, Saks 5th Ave off 5th and Nordstrom Rack. There is even a dollar store here too. And not to mention Total Wine and More opened a branch store here recently! Guess more wine for me! It's convenient. What not to like? read more

The RIM continues to grow and boom, now quickly becoming home to a half-dozen hotels and almost a half-dozen apartments. This is creating all sorts of new issues that you can tell aren't/weren't planned or thought of. On the major roadways (La Cantera Parkway, Worth Parkway and Vance Jackson immediately come to mind) walkability is very poor. If you live at any of the apartments and want to get groceries, for example, you're going to have to cross La Cantera Parkway/Vance Jackson. The crosswalk takes forever for pedestrians and the simpler, safer solutions would be to create actual pedestrian cross-ways that are NOT at the intersections because a lot of the times lanes can turn, etc. which puts pedestrians at risk. So as I'm walking around, I was praying I didn't have to cross Vance Jackson because people fly both ways and you have traffic pouring out of both sides of the shopping centers (seconding that idea about pedestrian cross-ways yet?) -- low and behold if you go all the way down along the bridge there's a pathway. Yet no one maintains the grass area running along the cemented pathway and it's also fenced off. How brilliant of an idea would it be to let pedestrians pass UNDER the bridge versus trying to play Russian Roulette and cross above the street? Yet there's no signs that this is actively even being worked on anymore as explained by the really long pieces of rebar and abrupt end to the walkway. The main takeaway is that someone needs to start thinking about the walkability around here. You're going to have three more hotels opening and at least one other apartment opening within the next year and trying to get around on foot is dangerous here. read more

La Cantera's baby brother - The Rim was built around Bass Pro Shop (now with Paula Deen's), Palladium and Dick's Sporting Goods. It includes a lot of restaurants - Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Torchy Tacos, Hopdoddy and Maggiano's; as well as Red Robin, Chick-fil-A and Whataburger, just to name a few. We usually end up at The Rim to see a movie or go to Starbucks. I like the parking near the store I want as opposed to walking from end to end carrying tiny bags. I've also learned recently that if I take the Camp Bullis exit off IH10 west, it gets me right to The Rim without traffic lights. Much more convenient. read more

This shopping center on the north west side of town is huge. It's a rather recent addition to the shopping center inventory in San Antonio. The Rim has lots of major retailers, such as Best Buy and other national chain stores. The parking here is decent. They did plan out the parking design of this place rather well. I really enjoy the architectural decorations at the entrance. They seem to be some sort of Spanish or Roman design at the entrance that gives it a classy look. My main complaint about this place is getting around. The parking lots are so expansive that they built these private roads going throughout the shopping complex, and they lack the necessary signage and traffic signs to get the place operating smoothly. Plus, it doesn't help that most people here seem to be driving around like they were strolling at the mall, doing a quarter of the posted speed limit with their blinker while weaving mindlessly across the road. This is a constant problem here, and I don't blame them because there's no signs telling you where things are around here. Generally, I try to stay out of the Rim. Nothing is close by to one-another, and you have to drive and park, and drive and park if you want to get around this place since it's so big. read more

Well, I have seen this place rise from the ground up. Needless to say I am also stating how long I've worked in the area. This shopping center gave the vacation crowd a new selection and better proximity to shopping that was previously not available close by. The weary traveler now was able to make a choice other than the Shoppes at La Cantera for some toiletries they may have forgotten at Target or some quick bites to eat at the local restaurants. But where to watch a movie you ask? Well the behemoth Palladium theatre. As shops and condos pop us almost monthly, this seems to be a spot that will only get bigger. Great place to shop and dine. There is a diverse array of name brand retail stores and restaurants. This is where we spend our family time.

The Rim is a good choice if you want affordable options. They have a JCPenney, Target, Best Buy, etc. They have a lot of stores at this mall as well. JCPenney is the nicest store here, at least in my opinion. Except for the main row of stores here when you enter, you have to drive around to get to your destination. If you're looking for a sporting goods store, Bass Pro Shops is at this location. I think that this is one of a a few locations around town. They also have a Lowe's and Staples here as well. They also have a few knock off stores of higher end chains like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Even so, they carry what the chain didn't sell and still is a lot of money. They have Nordstrom Rack and Saks off 5th. They also have DSW an SAS shoe stores. I do like SAS Shoes, but I am NOT going to pay that kind of price for my shoes. I can get Clarks at a more reasonable price. Their shoes may not last as long as SAS, but they are half the price. read more

Took me awhile to give the Rim a chance. But, I was presently surprised. It seems to constantly be growing and in a good way. They even have a European wax center now! So, glad they finally got one closer to me. They have so many great stores and so many great food choices. Always a clean environment too. A real family friendly shopping center. read more
