Jurassic World the Exhibition - The velociraptors

Jurassic World the Exhibition

We absolutely love dinosaurs so when we saw this was in town, we got tickets. You can get them…read moreonline but also get them at the door, but if they're busy, you'll need to wait, as you get an entrance time in 30 minute intervals on your tickets purchased ahead of time. They have special pricing for family tickets - minimum of 4 tickets - and those below the age of 3 are free. If you play Jurassic World Alive, there's a special incubator you can get there. This is set up OUTSIDE of Katy Mills Mall... on the parking lot, to be exact. It's fairly obvious and easy to get to. We went with our 2 young kids, ages 3 and almost 7. We watched Jurassic World 2 nights ago to be prepared and the experience largely follows that movie. You're one of the visitors to Isla Nublar and you get a VIP tour that also includes seeing the hatching room and petting baby dinosaurs - namely a parasaurolophus and ankylosaurus (Bumpy). You also see the raptor cage and even sneak past a T-Rex! No Pterosaurs though. We heard there's a chance of jump scares courtesy of Blue, BUT that didn't happen on our tour. I assume it's because our group had a lot of young kids. A bummer (we prepared our kids for any possible ones, but it didn't happen). There is a human in the Blue costume. I felt that part was fairly tame - the fog machine helped set the scene but it was still PG. Maybe even G. Overall, it was pretty fun! For about $20 per person including the discount, it wasn't bad because the animatronics were pretty impressive. Family friendly, though one kid (maybe aged 7-8?) was scared with the T-Rex. Videos and cameras are allowed, just no flash. You get many photo opportunities throughout, staff will help you with photos, and you have a chance to buy the ones you take at the beginning. They have a gift shop where most of the things are overpriced (shirts, plushies). I grabbed a magnet and some postcards. I was also tempted with the posters. The biggest thing is they clearly favor certain dinosaurs over others. My daughter's favorite is stygimoloch but other than him appearing in the tour, he had no merchandise. On the plus side, I didn't fork over $30 for a Stygi plushie or shirt. I also wish there was a jump scare to make it feel completely worth it, but it was still great fun - especially for dinosaur lovers! Got home a few hours later and my 3 year old kept on saying how the dinosaurs were fun. Expect to spend no more than an hour there though.

I will say the dinosaurs are very realistic. I like that they only let a small group at a time. I…read morefeel as though as it could have been more interactive. For example instead of touching dinosaur poop they could have had us touch the dinosaur egg or the baby dinosaurs. The dinosaur eggs should have cracked open when you pushed the button. Also they did not show the dinosaur eating the piece of meat as shown on TikTok. I understand it's in a tent but it was extremely hot. This would entertain a child 5 or below. The price of admission does not justify the experience.

If your kid has ever looked at a construction site and thought, "I could totally drive that," Dig…read moreZone is basically their dream come true. The kids get to actually drive tractors and construction machinery, and watching them take the job very seriously is half the fun. Within minutes, they're operating heavy equipment like seasoned professionals while the adults stand around wondering why they don't get a turn. Such a fun, hands-on experience and a great way to burn off some energy. Definitely a hit with any kid who loves trucks, tractors, dirt, and making a giant mess. Highly recommend!

We stumbled across this delightfully dirty adventure about 2 years ago when we were in town for a…read morewedding--had to find something fun for our (then 5 year-old) son to do. Dig World made that fun happen! Unfortunately, that particular day the weather was gross af--hot, still, and steamy--and with very little shaded areas to escape the sun/heat, we ended up leaving earlier than we anticipated. Fast forward to today, October 2026, while back in Katy our son asked to go back to "the digger world," and we were happy to oblige. Much nicer weather (mid-80's), less humidity and a breeze definitely added to the experience this time around, however we were a tad disappointed that they still don't have many shaded areas or places to rest. Lack of rest spots aside, our son had a blast--even more so this 2nd time around. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the equipment options all appeared to work well and the grounds were very clean (considering) and tidy. Absolutely love the concept and the fact that they even have an area for birthday parties and a giant sandbox for little ones. Glad to see that they're still here and seem to be doing well. If you have a little one who's into diggers/excavators, construction vehicles, and dirt then this is just the place for them!

Slick City Action Park - Place is huge

Indoor fun to beat the Texas heat! Came to take our kids and…read moresince I have a pass, why not... I decided to play too! Pretty sure the guy at the front desk was shocked since he was already wrapping a spectator wristband on my hand. I shook off my nerves since you're seeing straight down when you're going up what felt like 50 flights of steep stairs and I ended up having the best time. 2 hours flew by literally. Unfortunately a lot of things were shut down but all in all we all had a great time. The play park is huge and netscape was interesting and challenging but my old butt was not going in there. Left that to our young ones. They have go karts, basketball, dodgeball, a swing and a free other activities. I was truly shocked at how much there was to do in the mall overall. You could spend the entire day there. They also have plenty of comfy seats to just kick back and they sell snacks but it's a mall so if you're hungry there's plenty of food outside of the park. I'm still trying to figure out the recycling gun station. Yuck.

Fun Once You're In, But Be Prepared for a Rough Start…read more The check-in process really needs improvement. Even on a slow Monday, the line was long and painfully slow due to limited staff. Noah at the front desk was doing his absolute best (props to him!), but he was alone and clearly overwhelmed. Management -- give this guy some help! Heads up: the Groupon doesn't cover taxes or socks, so be ready to pay about $15 extra per person at the door. That wasn't clearly mentioned anywhere, which felt a bit sneaky. Once inside, the experience is much better. The slides are amazing -- well-designed, clean, and surprisingly varied. The bounce zones are split into dodgeball and basketball, which is fun, though some supervision or age separation would make it safer. There's a great toddler area (under 3.5 ft), but not much for kids just above that height -- a bit of a gap in options. The swing jump was nostalgic and fun, but poorly managed. Only one hook for two lines made the wait unnecessarily long, and there wasn't much staff presence to keep things moving. Concessions were fine -- typical venue pricing, nothing outrageous. Overall: Worth it if you're using a Groupon or season pass, but arrive early, expect delays, and bring extra cash. Once you're in, the kids will have a blast.

This place is perfect for my 7 year old son…read more We have been coming a little over a month and he loves it. I have a 9 year old daughter who tried a trial class and loved it as well, but she's in gymnastics and I only can afford one recreational activity for each child at the moment. Anywho... I love the fact that the coaches make the kiddos wash their hands upon entering. Afterwards, they head to the waiting area to get ready for class. The class is an hour long and the kids get to do quite a bit. There are climbing areas, ropes, bars, jump stations, and other spots for them to switch to. They start off with some cardio to get their little hearts racing. Normally, it's a few laps around the gym and some lunges or something similar. After that, they stretch and then get assigned to groups. Each group goes to a different station for around 5-7 minutes or so and then they switch until they've gone to all of the stations. They normally have a water break after the first half of class and then they head back to continue. The coaches are very nice and VERY patient. I've seen a few kiddos misbehave and the coaches have always remained calm while pulling them aside and talking to them for a bit. The age range from what I can see is from around 4-12/13 and all the kids always seem to be super excited when they arrive. If you're looking for something for your kiddo to enjoy that's fun and affordable, try this place out. It's 90/month for a weekly hour-long class and your child gets a shirt for registering. This place is clean, fun, and priced just right. You can't go wrong if you choose to come.
