A paint-and-sip is a great way to wind down and be creative. My coworkers and I came here for bonding outside of work. We made a reservation in advance and were placed in a private room in the back. It was nice to have counter space to place the pizzas and wine we brought. I had serious doubts in my artistic abilities that I would be able to produce a painting that would actually resemble the reference painting. Thankfully, the instructor was extremely patient and gave clear directions every step of the way. The reference painting is also projected on the TV. The entire process took about 2 hours, which was probably longer due to the frequent wine breaks in between. I was super happy with the result of my painting and can't wait to find a spot for it in my apartment. read more

I have gone to several classes at Pinot palette Sugarland, memorial, and even the galleria. This is the first time I was so disappointed with the session. This was date night and I was expecting the same quality of instructor tonight like the other location. I was so wrong she was not clear and kept blocking the canvas. The instructor was not engaging and the participants got so bored. Most other locations they are interactive and during dry breaks or between instruction the look at participants artwork. Instead she was talking to the other assistant rather than really giving tips or anything constructive. I would recommend going to other locations and not waste your time or money here . read more

I had an absolute blast with four of my girlfriends here. I had never been to a painting class so starting at Pinot's Palette, the bar has been set pretty high. What you need to know: *You don't need to be an artist. You'll get plenty of instruction and have tons of fun! You'll probably be surprised by your masterpiece when it's all done. *It's BYOB. Bring your own wine, beer, bottles, juice, snacks, sweets --- anything goes. Get there early if you want to eat and drink before starting because you might not have too much time eating in between painting time. There's limited space at the painting tables so most people just bring their drink glasses to sip and paint while the foodstuff stays on the back counters. *Pinot's will provide everything you need for painting. They also provide disposable cutlery and plates, and wine glasses. They also gave us buckets of ice to chill wine bottles or beer. *Reserve your spots if you can. Classes can get full. The website specifies what is going to be painted that night so there are no surprises. If you are going with a group of friends, ask that they seat you across from one another. We were a group of four and sat side by side. It was cool because we got to see each other's paintings throughout the class, but I think I would've preferred to be across from each other because then I could've chatted more with all of the girls instead of just the ones right next to me. *This is a perfect place for girl's night - or even maybe date night? Music is played when the instructor is no longer providing direction, which is really nice. The music when I went was quite eclectic but towards the end it was making me sleepy. I needed something a little more upbeat at the end. Participating in a class at Pinot's Palette is one of the best birthday gifts I have ever received. I had a whole lot of fun and came home with a tangible memento that not only let me get into a creative flow, but it's a reminder of what a great time I had. read more

I am pretty sure a few of you have already tried this out, however it was my first time going this past week. I absolutely LOVED it! I went with my best friend (it was her second time doing this activity, but she went to a different one), and we had fun doing this. We did the Lavendar Lane painting. For a beginner, it was challenging, but the instructor did a great job instructing us through. It was also very helpful having that second artist go around and help out when needed. The target group that goes are very friendly and easy to get along with. They play good music when the artist is not instructing at the moment. I also like the fact you can bring your own drinks (can also be alcoholic) and snacks. This is a great idea for a birthday get together, girls night out, date night, or a family night! its relaxing and stress free (unless you are like me and want things to be semi perfect). If you haven't tried this yet, you should definitely go!! BTW!!!! For anyone that lives near the Baytown area, they are having one here soon!!!!! read more

Went here with some girlfriends on a Friday night and arrived to a full house. Luckily we reserved our spots a few weeks in advance and requested to sit next to each other and had a great view of the instructor. We each brought a bottle of wine and some snacks. (Hummus, cheeses, that sort of thing) They provide silverware, stemware, bottle openers, paint, brushes , smocks, and canvases. No need to worry about having even any semblance of art skills. (I definitely don't) Your painting will turn out great as the instructor and her assistant provide clear, easy to follow instruction and walk around to help you with any questions you may have. In between instruction, a fun mix of music plays- the class even had a bit of a sing-a-long going when "Sweet Caroline" came on, and there is plenty of time to chat and paint. I only wish there was more room near the easels for setting down wine glasses and plates. We had to keep our bottles and food in the back of the room, which would get annoying because we didn't want to miss much of the instruction. I also thought it was a little pricey (I think reservations were $45, then I bought wine and food for the night...so it kind of added up quickly), but still fun and worth it overall. read more

This was fun for all! both my wife and I went one Saturday, 3/23/2013. That night was "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh. Obviously, you can't paint the original because that is fraudulent but you get to paint YOUR version. Haven't picked up an artists paint brush since high school I was a little worried how well I would do. Well, its not as bad as you think. The brushes are well used, but you still have fun. OH! and for those of you that bring food and spirits, you will relax and not stress on how well you are doing; the creative juices will flow. The 'instructor artist' was friendly and informative, and her assistance was very comical and helpful as well. She was also running around taking pictures so you can find your event a few days later online. I would definitely go back again. read more

I've never had so much fun! It's a simple concept- painting and wine. I wasn't sure what to expect but the whole experience was exceptional. The instructors were extremely helpful. They breakdown how to paint each masterpiece simple enough that anyone could do it. There were people there of all ages and skill levels. They were very attentive in a large group setting and able to cater to the needs of each student. The place was spacious and what an art studio should feel like. Even if you are not artistic, you are for that night. On top of that you get to BYOBAA (...and appetizers). I highly recommend this experience for a date night or any group activity. My husband and I have been lucky enough to visit all three Pinot's Palette locations now. :) I know, I know, we rock. We went on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and painted a colorful painting of a bird in a bird cage. Although we had a great time, we felt that the staff were not quite as talented or as easy to follow. We liked the room much better-- it was much bigger, but we were still all smushed together, regardless of the fact that there were two empty tables not being used by students. The parking was great and we loved the location-- we live only about ten minutes away. As always, we had a fun time, and for the location and the price you can't buy a better afternoon. read more

I took my sister to Pinot's Palette for her birthday recently, and we had a lot of fun. Though there are three locations (Katy, Montrose, Galleria), my sister's choice of painting and date/time dictated what location we went to. Some classes (i.e., Van Gogh's Starry Night) fill up quickly, so be prepared to peruse PP's online calendar regularly if you're looking to paint a specific painting. A couple of more things before I get to the actual class: this place is BYOB/Food. Also, it seems as if this place is oriented towards the female demographic--most class pictures online and my class, too, were a majority of women. But, without intending to make any ignorant, broad stereotypes, maybe painting in a party-like atmosphere with your friends over wine and appetizers appeals more to women rather than men? But I had fun though...so... For my class, there was a main instructor who not only instructed us on what paints to use and how to apply them to the blank canvas, but she demonstrated it as well on her own canvas. Moreover, from time to time, she explained the history of the painting and the artist. The two assistant instructors walked around, refilling our paints and answering any questions that we had. With all the painting, the adult-contemporary music blazing, and the wine flowing, it doesn't feel as though 3 hours has past. Yet, at the end of the session, what started out as a blank canvas becomes something that most people would say kind of looks like that painting they saw that one time by that artist whose name they can't quite readily remember in that museum they visited when they were on a vacation in that metropolitan city sometime last year. read more

Used a groupon and took my mother in law with me on Sunday to paint flutter. It says to arrive 30 mins prior. We arrived 15 mins prior and found that more than enough time to put your stuff away, open a bottle of wine and put on your apron. It was nice you can bring your own beer, wine or liquor and appetizers. Lots of folks brought either chips and dip, cheese and crackers, fruit, and cookies. They have a lot of counterspace so no worries on wondering where to put your snacks. It was supposed to start at 2pm, but there were those late folks coming in even up to 15 mins after 2pm. That was a tad annoying. So we didn't start until 2:15. There's little room on either side of you while you paint, but I still found I had enough space. The class went by really fast. The instructor was good, although at times she went through it pretty fast that people had to ask her to repeat herself. Also, they need to buy new brushes. The smaller brushes were horribly frayed and several people had a hard time painting small details. All in all the painting experience was great! Had a fun time. Would definitely visit again. read more

This is a wonderful concept for a night out with friends. We all have an artsy, craftsy side in us but we are too darn busy living a crazy full life to think of doing anything that is permanent in our life. So here comes an evening or afternoon of 2 to 3 hours of creativity. I prefer not to drink and paint, who knows what will become of the canvas? But It's a nice adult evening concept for sure. The instructor that we had was young and nice. She kinda talked too much but I think it was nerves. Less Talk and More Instruction is what I say, especially when you expect the audience to paint something that resembles a hummingbird. There are two people there - one instructor and the other a helper (gets clean water, more paint etc) Both are local artists and that's awesome. When I looked at what they expected to be completed and looked at my totally blank canvas, I was worried. At the end of the night, tho, I had a pretty good painting and one that I was pretty proud of. read more

We sent our seating request on purchase AND CALLED after to make sure. They still sat us in 1 different groups and told us "next time request your seating" when we explained to them that we did several times. I was disappointed with this class sadly :( the instructor was a guy forgot his name he is the rudest person. Legit when I say rude it's rude. We went to spend mother daughter time, we had our wine just a good time. But this instructor oonce the owners left turNed into a douche, he was more mad that his painting was not good saying he should've added more blue blah blah... some of the other guest would tel him it's okay don't worry it looks good. Then we would giggle and he woulD just make faces or be mad I couldn't wait to finish and get out of there. There was a couple other things like him more interested in flirting with some girl that was there, most of the night the class Was boring. The music went off so he was trying to fix it and got mad when we couldn't, so we sat in silence. At the end of our painting for the picture he wanted us to take a pic saying "comE on guys let's take a picture it's not like we haven't gone 30 minutes over already" almost forcing us to take pics only like 6 ppl went to take a pic. I hate to leave this revIew because the owners seemed awesome, but once they left it turned bad. read more

I've been to another byob paint class and I think, for the most part, the class depends on the instructor. I had a great time and will be back. The studio is pretty big, bigger than I expected. Its assigned seating and they let you know where you're seated as soon as you walk in, your name is also written on the table, which is nice. The class started on the time. The instructor stood on a stage and used a head seat (with a mic) so we could all hear her. I really liked that, since it can get a bit loud sometimes because people are drinking and having side conversations, having her on a mic was nice so you don't miss any steps. The class I took was 3 hours and, to me, it felt that long. There were three 20 minuet breaks, I think two 15 or even 10 would have been fine. It was too much idle time (but I do understand that the paint needs time to dry). They played really good music, it was a nice mix, a little something for everyone. My main complaint is that the instructor didn't come around very much. Granted it was a large class, but she spent more time at the front talking with co-workers than she spent coming around and helping. I would have liked a little more help with some concepts, but next time i may attend a smaller class. All in all, it was great. I really liked the class and will for sure go again. read more

This is a great place to hang out with friends to drink wine and indulge in your creative side. It was my first time so I didn't know what to really expect, plus I came late so i was a bit behind the game. It didn't matter. The instructors were so helpful and put me at ease right away. They had a set painting which we were all supposed to create, but were perfectly willing to help out in case you wanted to go a little off the beaten path. Much less stressful than junior high art class and a great way to exercise the right side of your brain. Perfect for groups, but I can see how people could come here alone and still have fun. The activity is fun in itself, was good idea who came up with it, but how it is realized - it's horrible! The place is so packed, they squeeze out every $$ from every inch, they accept as many bookings as would come, so the pallets are so close to each other that you can hardly reach for the water glasses that are behind the pallets. The paint they hand out on plastic plates and they are squeezed under the pallets. We went for the Family Day, three families with kids, and I was so worried that kids will knock down the water or paint that I hardly had time to enjoy myself. I had the time of my life.........and I owe it all to you.. Pino"s Palette. I gave my friend a gift certificate for her birthday, and she decided to leave her husband at home and have a girls night. I had been wanting to try this place for AWHILE, and it definately EXCEEDED my expectations! The instructors were fun, the staff was super friendly, and I had a BLAST. They instruct very well, and you are able to bring wine and food. It is such a change from going to Washington, spending $100 and having nothing to show for it. You paint, drink, and you get to take your masterpiece with you! I got to know the other people around me, and everyone was very friendly. The couple to my left was on their second date, and she commented that she had never had a guy plan such an ORIGINAL date. it is the perfect date night, girlfriend night out, or just to try something different. I did a 3 hour class, and time FLEW by! I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone, had SUCH a good time! read more

I've been several times with different groups, and we always have a FANTASTIC time!!! The teachers (coaches) are all superb and leave you plenty of time to go at your own pace - toe-tapping tunes get you movin' and the BYOB thing always seems to help get the creative juices flowing!
