We were invited out to this place and it is definitely a local fave (even has a membership program for a special group). Good selection of beers, awesome servers and capable bartenders. And for fun, pool tables and sports on the TVs ... they even host a Karaoke night! Recommend you come (on Thursdays) for that Karaoke. They do allow smoking inside so be ready for that. But they have garage doors they rollup for outdoor seating areas to let the fresh air in. We had fun and would come back.

Classic dive bar with membership so it can stay open late every day. Connected to a gas station, and the inside is most definitely smoky. The service was super friendly, drinks were strong, band was talented, parking was easy, and the prices were low. Overall, a good find!!

Awesome people! Great service and food. Always great drink specials. Home away from home atmosphere.

Yes! Finally found a place who makes decent wings and Philly cheese steaks! The beer is cold and I love the people there!

My husband and I were impressed by the meat and cheese plate, that additionally included pickles, apricot jam, and dried cranberries; highly recommend choosing the German meats and cheeses, I was hesitant but they were delicious! For entrees we had the Rachel sandwich and the bratwurst, with sides of red cabbage and Brussels sprouts. I didn't finish the sandwich because of its size and took half to go. The sprouts were fresh and well seasoned, and my husband was still talking about the red cabbage a day later. The German beer list is extensive and the server recommended a couple to me, and let me taste before deciding which was helpful. The people who work here are kind and seem like a little family. In fact the owner came around at one point to individually cheers with people which was cute. We really enjoyed the warm intimate atmosphere and would love to go back.

It's very small. Reservations are suggested unless you go very early. (5:00 opening). We were brought a basket of pretzels with German mustard. The German beers on tap are very good. We both had the bratwurst and German potato salad. There are 2 large brats on the plate. We enjoyed the meal and conversation with other guest seated next to us. It's is very much a local favorite right off Main Street in Simpsonville.

Suitcase Social Club Dispatch No. 47: "Timmy vs. The Lumberjacks"…read more If you've ever wondered what happens when a grown man with sales quotas, a mild caffeine imbalance, and the attention span of a golden retriever discovers competitive lumberjack sports streaming on the bar TV... well, allow me to submit Exhibit A. I wandered into Main Street Bar & Eatery for what was supposed to be a "quick bite between quotes." Instead, I became spiritually welded to a barstool while the TV blasted a man in flannel yeeting a chainsaw like it owed him money. And the fried pickles. Good grief. Those things ambushed me. One minute I'm thinking "I'll just have a snack," and the next I'm waist-deep in a basket of fried circles of temptation, crunching my way into oblivion while pretending to "work." My laptop was open, sure, but let's not lie to ourselves -- I got absolutely nothing done. I was too busy yelling advice at professional lumberjacks like I'd trained for this moment my whole life. Tim the Suitcase Regular Rating Breakdown: * Atmosphere: Cozy but with the unpredictable energy of a log-rolling final * Food: Fried pickles that could ruin a man's productivity in the best possible way * Service: Friendly, fast, and kindly nonjudgmental of whatever fever dream I was living in * Entertainment: 10/10 involuntary lumberjack immersion If you're looking for a place where you can lose an entire afternoon under the noble banner of "I swear I'm still working", Main Street Bar & Eatery is the arena. Suitcase Social Club™ stamp of approval: Earned.

The delightful Jessica informed me I wouldn't be served until I smiled - I didn't have to wear a fake one all night, I just had to demonstrate I had it in me. (On retrospect I think she was reminding me to get out of work mode.) Regardless, kindness and shit-put-up-withry was the name of Jessica's game. A regular brought in some of the best Irish home cooking I've tasted to Jessica, and she brought enough for me and South Florida James to share too. SFJ half-jokingly offered to pay rent at Jessica's house so she'd have plausible deniability when her thieving neighbors moved back in with the carnival. The sign on the wall said "get along or get out." I saw no one not get along. The sign says "friendliest bar in the upstate." I don't know who's on the ballot to win that award next year, but it will be a tall hill to climb. Their pool sticks are absolute garbage, but the tables pretty good. No stars lost. Free dum dums!
