You needed more people working this past weekend. Waiting 2 hours for food is absurd. I'm missed the time with my friends since I can't leave the bar or I have to wait in a long line again to see if my food is ready. I ordered before our friends and they all received their food before I did. If the cook did the tickets in order, he would have less complaints. And for him to yell at the bartender for asking is absurd. He should be ashamed of himself. The minimal staff is busting their asses and it's not fair to them. This is a staffing issue and a cook who cherry picked what he wanted to cook and when. Hire more people and cooks or have a limited menu when this happens. read more

The band we came to see is known to be popular and they sold tickets to the event. There was only 2 bartenders for a packed house. I spent the majority of the night waiting in line. I was told the food would take and hr for a sandwich upon ordering. After an hr I stood in line for 25 mins waiting to get the food and it was NOT ready. 30 mins later stood on line for 15 mins to finally get the food 2 hrs later. POOR POOR service. The place easily could have made double the money if handled correctly. read more

Just visited this establishment for the first and last time not 5 mins prior to this writing. We decided to eat here because of the Swamprabbits won in the last 5 mins and heard good things about the food. We do not drink alcohol, but looked forward to purchasing 2 entrees, an appetizer, sodas and ofc an additional free appetizer... per the promotion. We were ignored upon arrival, seating ourselves. There were 4 ppl at a table, and our party of 2 in a booth. So it was dead. We waited 10-15 mins and were not acknowledged so decided to ask for service at the bar. We were told tbey needed IDs and to see our tix. We were not offered a menu or drinks at that time but thought we would be given those at the table since they now knew we were there. Another 10-15 mins goes by we go to the bar and we are told they were waiting for US to bring the requested IDs and tix to the bar. At this point, the blonde working was dismissive and short. I chose to give the place a chance so did as asked and ordered an appetizer but wasnt offered anything else. No menu. no drinks. I asked for a coke and thought she heard me. We returned to our booth and in a very short time the appetizer arrived. I took the opportunity to ask for drinks and a menu but was rudely cut off and told "I dont bring drinks out just the food" She turned on her heel and stomped away . Never once were we offered any type of drink or menu. Only barked at as if we were the problem. I was on a high note after a great hockey game and prepared to spend 60$ or so on food...with an appropriate 20% tip. Instead the blonde cost her establishment the amount of the free appetizer and a possibility of 2 new regular customers. I cannot imagine how an owner coukd justify an employee treating customers in such a way. Its truly awesome how nasty she was, I assume because she thought we only wanted the free item. Tbe mozzarella stucks were good but it sucked not having a menu or drinks to make additional selection. It doubly sucked to be treated as a bother. I will follow up with my SW Season Ticket Representative and let them know how their collaboration does such a disservice to the experience it promotes. Never ever again will we consider Doc's. Think of a typical pub style place with the dark lighting, friendly staff, fried food and you're here. Karaoke on Friday nights. This is why my friends and I were here. The DJ has a couple of books filled with songs to choose from. These books are the size of encyclopedias. All genres. They have a few pool tables and a few dart boards. This is a good spot for a date. Juke box is located in this area. Plenty of restrooms on both sides of the restaurant, you can sit at the bar, high top tables or booths. Dance floor is huge so I don't know what else goes on here during the week and on Sat nights. If you like sweets, get the fried oreos! If you like Onion Rings, they are hand battered and huge! What a nice surprise! Good sized corner tavern with great atmosphere and lots of bar space! Nice and dark with a big bar, pool tables and a juke box... just like the good lord intended! Lots of beers on tap and even more in bottles! Currently drinking a very tasty "Toaster Pastry IPA". I had the Cuban sandwich. Absolutely mouth watering pulled pork with ham and cheese. I happened to hit the Friar's Tavern on Saint Patrick's day 2020. The last day before the Covid-19 shut down in our state. So this was the last place that I dined/drank a beer at in quite some time. The space is wide open and large enough to feel comfortable and airy. There is a dance floor, but I am not sure if they dance here. There are many large screen televisions, so it is something of a sports bar. Pool tables and darts and a nice long bar with plenty of stools. Very comfortable atmosphere (plus no smoking inside is great). This truly has the neighborhood bar feel to it. Tonight it was just a couple of Guinness for St. Paddy's day, but I have eaten a burger here before and it was the atypical, very good, pub burger with crisp fries. So, this is my spot for the once a year time I go to a bar. I think once things open up, I'm going to make this the first place I go and sit down to eat and probably I will have the pub burger and a Guinness! Disgusted by the management of this bar. We have been attending a Thursday night dance event which was agreed to by the owner and the dance group, and which was stopped short by the management tonight without any notice. House music was turned up significantly higher to intentionally drown out the dance event music that was being played. Turning up the house music like this was incredibly rude, immature, and passive aggressive. All the patrons who paid for this dance event were buying food and drinks from the bar. We all felt very mistreated and angry as a group for the course of action that the management chose to pursue. I have never felt less respected as a patron of any establishment previously. I am not sure how the management can justify treating anyone in this way, much less paying costumers. You can be sure that my wife and I will not be returning to Friars and will be sharing with friends and family alternative recommendations for dinner/drinks. It is unfortunate since we previously had enjoyed frequenting Friars, but the actions of the management tonight were surprisingly offensive and immature. read more

I like the lunch bartender Jess. She's super sweet and provides great service. I'm leaving 2 stars because I ordered wings on my 1 hour lunch break, and sat here for 45 minutes waiting on them, at which point the (I'm assuming?) only chef working at the time came out and asked me if it was my day off. I told him no, I was waiting on my lunch but I needed it to go now because I need to go back to work. He said "oh okay, Ive got them, it will be about 8 more minutes". I totally understand that a kitchen can crash and it can take some time during lunch to get food out at a reasonable time, but I am literally one of 10 guests in the establishment and I'm very confused as to why it took me almost an hour to get one order of 8 wings? There are a few really great things about Friars Tavern... The food is always fresh, and considerably better than most bar food. Most of it is homemade, and really huge portions. Their food is spot-on. Also, there are TONS of televisions and pool tables, and that's nice. And finally, there are a couple of really good servers. Sam and Andre are very customer-oriented, and do a great job of taking care of their guests. Now that we've got that out of the way, the other side of the coin. I've been in a few times for happy hour and/or dinner, and the one aspect that has always been missing is management. More often than not, the female manager would be sitting at the bar drinking beer, or hanging out with what appeared to be her friends. Or just not there. But always completely disconnected from the operation of the restaurant. Recently, we stopped in at Friars after having dinner on Woodruff Rd., and wanted to have a couple of drinks before calling it a night. It was a Friday, so a little busier than usual. Within 2 minutes of sitting at the bar with my date, we were approached by an exceptionally intoxicated gentleman, who could barely stand, and certainly couldn't speak coherently. To spare all of the details, he basically harassed us until we moved to a table away from the bar, and harassed other guests until he almost started two different fights. To make it worse, there was an entire group of drunk bar bros raising hell, being loud and obnoxious, etc. We complained to two different servers about the drunk gentleman, both who said they would tell their manager. Come to find out, there were two managers there that night... One of them sat at the end of the bar, casually smoking his electric cigarette, and never getting out of his seat for anything, and the other one, who we hadn't even seen until after the drunk guy nearly started the second fight, decided to go behind the bar and start serving drinks. Neither of them did anything at all to address the situation. Well, except one thing: The female manager served him TWO more drinks after we had moved to our table! The guy was nearly walking dead, harassing half the bar, and they continued serving him beer. At that point, seeing the completely passive management (the one manager still never got out of his seat), and an increasingly rowdy bar crowd that was spilling into the restaurant area, we felt uncomfortable enough to end our night early before something bad happened. The servers were trying handle the crowd, but when managers remain completely hands off and let the customers run wild, you end up with a really unsafe environment. To summarize, if you don't mind old drunks, rowdy 20 year old bros, fights, and passive management, then this is a great place to have a beer and watch the game. Or you could go to any of the other dozens of places on Woodruff Rd. and actually have a safe and enjoyable experience. read more

This is a very nice, well appointed sports pub with great atmosphere, great service and great food! The new proprietor's move to a non-smoking environment really freshened the place. They have a great selection of pub fare: burgers, sandwiches, salads, wings and pizza. April is a very good bartender and waitress with a great attitude. This place reminds me of "Cheers." I ordered a meal to go via grubhub: a side salad, cheeseburger with fries, potato skins, and a Cuban sandwich. My son said the cheeseburger was good. My side salad arrived without any dressing (I requested Italian dressing), the Cuban sandwich had no sauce and the fries tasted, and looked, as if they were cooked hours before the actual order was placed. First visit to friars. Friendly bar staff. Manager walked by and heard me asking about food. She was very friendly. Her name was Rachel and she suggested the Cuban sandwich which was outstanding and I had a half order of wings which were cooked to Perfection. This is a big bar with lots of TVs. I have been looking for a place for football and I think I have found The Place to Go. I will definitely be back for more. I've looked all over the area and this by far is the best of them all!!!!!! So this joint is OK, it has good eats and makes for a relaxing spot. The primary problem with this place is some of the staff, they could stand to keep better employees. For one their bartender was really crude, and initiated arguements between guests in the bar which unsettled the vibe. I love this bar. I have been going there for 2 years. They have great happy hour specials and the draft selection is not too bad. They have 12 beers on tap usually. All of the staff is friendly and seem to work well with each other. There are plenty of pool tables and great dart boards. Great place and from a regular, it's home for me. Nice bar and bartender, but the food was mediocre at best. This is a nice spot for darts, pool, and drinks.

A group of us from work stopped one afternoon. Pretty typical bar food. Pool tables by the hour, darts, tv's. Plenty of seating. Staff is friendly and nice. Alcohol prices are average. I have heard that nights there are a lot more people. I will stop back in as it's close to home! read more

I hate to say it but I've experienced much better. Our server was very friendly but a bit inattentive. The low rating is for the food quality and price. $1.00 jumbo wings were offered as the special which excited so I ordered 10. 10 jumbo wings would be $10 right? NOPE! 10 jumbo wings is a full order which cost me $11.95 plus tax. Fail all around. The "jumbo" wings were average to small at best and one had so little meat on it that it was inedible. I hate to base my future visits on one experience but with the place being smack in the middle of Wooddruff and being charged more than I should have coupled with a myriad of other places to get chicken wings on Wooddruff, I won't be back any time soon. read more

Been back a few times since the first visit, including tonight. Excellent service the first time was apparently a fluke. Both the last two visits we had the same male server, and he is terrible. A couple of weeks ago, my wife ordered her burger well-done, and it came out on the rare side of medium, with cold french fries. Sent it back, and it took forever for its replacement. Tonight, the tables on both sides of us had the same problem. The manager came out and gave everyone at one of the tables drink cards and told them there would be no charge for the burger. We had gotten no such consideration, and when my wife pointed it out to the manager, he said, "Do you want me to go get you a drink card?" The onion rings are still great, but the wings are only okay. My wife asked for her wings to be well-cooked and they were supposed to be mild. They came out exactly the same as mine (which were supposed to be hot. Apparently you will get your food however the kitchen feels like cooking it. We would have sent it back, but did not want to endure another 20 minutes waiting for the kitchen to try a do-over. My wife's iced tea was the weakest I have seen, and I was only able to get the server to bring me two beers. I'm sure he was very busy; he must have had four tables. I was also pretty sure the sign out front said, "Prime Rib every Friday and Saturday." Not tonight. When I asked the server, he said he would go check. Really? You don't know what food is available? He came back and said, "French dip, no prime rib." The Masters was on the giant screen TV when we got there, but switched to an infomercial for about the last half hour of our stay. Isn't anyone monitoring anything here? We bought the latest Deal Chicken coupons, but I'm thinking we'll just throw the second one away. This used to be our go to place in the evenings for a couple of drinks. We have been regulars here for a couple years. This is somewhere we would come 2-3 nights a week to relax after work. Over the the last few months there have been changes in management and all of our regular servers and bar tenders are no longer there. Every time we come in there is a new server. Terrible service, I ordered 2 Sam Adams, $4 each by the way, and was shorted a dollar in my change. Bar tender thought I was intoxicated apparently. I know....only a dollar but his attitude painted a picture. I gave him another dollar tip in bucket as he apparently needs the money more than me, I normally tip 30% anyways jerk. This place is as redneck as you get, bathrooms were disgusting, and clientele painted another picture. Will never go back. This place will likely go out of business or be shut down like its previous name, haileys.
