Philly steak sub

The food is delicious. My favorite is the Philly steak sandwich and chicken wings with ranch! Ive also tried the grilled chicken club and burgers. Everything is delicious and great portions. i recommend for a delicious bite!

The Reuben with a half order of fries

You are not here because of the ambiance. It is not a fern bar. It has been here at least since 1977, to my knowledge, and maybe earlier. It is the kind of bar you might think of when you say, "You can't do all day drinking unless you start in the morning." It is safe, it is clean and it does have a killer steak sandwich - the very best in Greenville. And a pretty darned good Reuben. Portions are large, generous even for the $15 price tag (roughly) and fries are abundant in both number and thickness - the kind of "steak fry" you might imagine. Crisp, fluffy and a lot of them. This meal, whichever sandwich choice you make, is a two mealer potential, meaning, you could eat it for two separate and satisfying meals. That includes the Club Sandwich and maybe even the Baby Club Sandwich. But, there are a group of regulars that are eating lunch at the bar. The seating is 4 x 4 tops. 5 X 2 tops, about 15 barstools on a long J-shaped bar. Today's lunch had the 5 regulars at the bar for lunch, 2 random carry-out customers, two separate individuals at the two tops and 2 at a 4 top plus our party of two. A decent crowd, but not crowded. The bartender is the server and she did a good job, but the sass is included in a fun way. We arrived at 12:15P on a Tuesday, got water and order placed by 12:19 and food arrived by 12:34 - yes, Yelpers, I did time it because that is important for a lunch review! As mentioned, the food is the star. Why only four stars - well this is the kind of place that has not changed interior decor since the late 70's, and although it is no longer the smoke filled lounge that it once was, it still bears a strong resemblance to that bygone time and that may be a turn off for the more refined or discerning type (like my wife). But it is what it is setting out to be - a bar bar - not a fern bar.

This late night neighborhood bar and hang out has changed over the years. I keep hearing about the food they're serving now so I finally made it back 25 years later. The inside is the same but the food they're serving serve is really good. The steak, club and chicken sandwiches are excellent. I've heard the salads are good too. Worth a visit and a bit of nostalgia for some of us old timers.

Service and ambiance alone has always been A1. I remember when the steak sandwich was the best in town until the last time I went it was bland, dry and surprisingly real light it barley had meat on it. Hopefully they'll improve on this. The fried mushrooms weren't fried at all they had a very doughy taste as if they were microwaved, no flavor at all. Fries was ehh

If you look up the definition of a dive, you'll find Zorba's listed. This joint is located in a strip mall, but do not let that detour you as the food SLAPS! The inside is a blast from the past.. they have carpet but it aids in the experience, so don't be deterred. I enjoyed the steak sandwich, but I added peppers, mushrooms, and provolone. The sandwich is served on an onion roll (like the yummy ones from Arby's) and honestly it pulls the flavors together in just the right way. If you order the sandwich plate, it is served with fries and a "bowl" of salad. The salad is ginormous and is served with homemade dressing- but I caution you to save room for the main course!! The only flaw about this place is that they charge for every add on- but on the upside you can order singular items because of this! Want a single chicken strip, they got you? They even had a singular fried shrimp listed, this made me giggle! Overall this place is SOLID and the service is fantastic!! Give it a try!!

Old school tavern, with great food and large portions. I could tell lots of regulars go there by the way they were greeted. It was our first time there and they treated us so kind!!

I've lived here in Greenville for over 20 years and this was my first time eating here. When you walk in it reminds you of being downstairs in your uncle's basement. Old school decor that was cool and comfortable. They literally give you more than what you pay for. I was told that they're known for their ribeye steak sandwiches. I ordered one and I could barely eat half of it. It was phenomenal!! It is a family run business even though it was extremely busy our came out fast and piping hot. Going forward I will continue to dine here.

The steak sub is amazing. A little hole in the wall, gem of a place. I enjoyed eating there on my lunch break.

Legendary... must try the ribeye sandwich... mostly only know by locals and few are willing to share this hidden dive.

It is found tucked behind the building with only a small, letter-sized paper sign marking the entrance. No flashy signage, no obvious storefront, which adds to the appeal if you're into that kind of hunt. Walking up to it late at night can be a little intimidating but it is well lit which I greatly appreciated! Once inside, the space is dimly lit and small, which makes for a genuinely intimate setting. I'd say it's good for a quieter, more conversational vibe rather than a loud night out. We went with the bartender's choice: pick a base liquor, then two words to describe what you're after. I went with vodka and "slightly sweet, refreshing," for $18. The bartender nailed the brief but it wasn't a drink I'd think about again or specifically order by name. Solid execution, forgettable flavor. Service was the real standout. Our bartender was excellent at walking us through the concept and translating vague requests into something that actually worked. That, plus the atmosphere, is enough to bring me back to see what else is on the menu since we made it there just in time for last call so I ended up only having one drink.

I'm so glad we found this little gem while searching for a great burger in downtown Greenville!…read more This small burger joint, tucked just off the main street, completely exceeded our expectations. Everything is made from scratch; from the fresh burger patties and soft, homemade buns to the delicious pralines they hand out as a sweet palate cleanser at the end of your meal. You can absolutely taste the difference. The restaurant is small with limited seating (first come, first served), with seating along the windows and down the side, and a couple of outdoor tables. You order at the counter, grab your number, and then find a seat. Even though it's a casual, fast-service restaurant, the hospitality was anything but ordinary. We were greeted the moment we walked in by the sweetest older gentleman whose genuine Southern hospitality made us feel so welcome. He even stopped by to chat with us during our meal, making the whole experience feel warm and personal. The food was outstanding! My burger was cooked perfectly....juicy, flavorful, and served on one of the best hamburger buns I've ever had. It was incredibly soft but somehow never got soggy or fell apart, even with all the cheese and sauce. They offer about 10 different flavor options for burgers. They even offer grilled chicken sandwiches and Open face burgers. I ordered the Sawyer Burger ($13.95), topped with chili garlic glazed pork belly, Asian slaw, and crispy onion straws. It was absolutely delicious and well worth the price considering the quality and generous portion. The fries deserve their own review! So many burger places treat fries as an afterthought, but not here. The portions are huge and perfectly seasoned. I chose the Buffalo Blue Cheese fries, and they were packed with flavor. I wish I'd had room to try the Parmesan fries, which sounded like a customer favorite. Even the tiny bathroom was charming, covered in funny and quirky signs that made me smile. If I lived in Greenville, I'd definitely become a regular. Amazing food, generous portions, homemade quality, friendly service, and true Southern hospitality. I can't recommend this place enough!
