Stopped by this weekend on game day, planning to enjoy the beer garden and lunch. The beer selection was fantastic, so many options to choose from. There's a large outdoor space with picnic tables and huge indoor space. The staff was great, one gentleman in particular who was getting things set up for a private party. As I mentioned, we chose to come to The Standard specifically because they had actual food (vs just snack food like many breweries). Unfortunately, we arrived when the kitchen had closed to prep for the aforementioned private party. This meant a significant wait to even place an order for food. We tried to wait, but this was going to be a deal breaker for me; I was starting to feel ill from no food and beer tasting on empty stomach. Fortunately someone (owner? manager? or their best, kindest employee, I don't know), helped me out. I am so grateful. We stayed, and once the kitchen opened back up, my husband and son also ordered food -- the chicken and waffles were awesome. I really wanted to like this place more but sadly it left me unsatisfied. Let's get into it: Ambiance: 6/10 Inside is an open building with bench seating, with outside seating off to the side, I believe bands occasionally play out there. Anyways, It was all decently clean, no problems there. You'll grab a menu from the front entrance and then place your order at the counter in the back. The menu is decently small, typical bar food with a few interesting options but it is well-priced! Side note: There are no waiters, so you'll take your trays to the trash, etc. so if that's not your cup of tea.... Food: 4/10 I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say I just caught them on an off day seeing as it was 3:30 when we ate here. The fish LOOKED great, but man it was rough. Super dry and tasted nothing more than old grease. I typically like my fish fried hard but it was just... not great. Coleslaw was good though. Beer: 10/10 Great, tons of local Oklahoman options that were cold and tasty! Might not come back to eat but would definitely come back to try a few more beers. Came here for the Norman Music Festival Hangover Brunch to see Jared Deck play. He was great and I was kind of blown away that this guy is a politician. Music was on the patio which has long picnic style tables and benches, patio chairs and lots of shade. They were only serving a brunch buffet which consisted of fruit, breakfast potatoes, various "frittatas" which were egg heavy, sausage patty's and various scones from Levity. It wasn't bad for $20.00. I checked out the menu, it's basically bar food so if I come back it's basically chicken tenders, hamburgers etc. no vegetables in sight. read more

I have not had the food here. We mostly just enjoyed the bier garden and adult beverages. The beer selection is huge with many many local beers. This is a family friendly place. I would highly recommend and will definitely return. read more

A group of friends met at the restaurant. I ordered the fried catfish and a side of fried green beans. The green beans were good, but didn't come with a dipping sauce. I think I could have asked for some. The fish was over-cooked and dry. It came with tartar sauce. The restaurant was a large open space with long tables and benches. There were 2-3 other parties in the place, but it didn't feel crowded. However, it was very noisy and made it hard to hear others along our table. Went on a busy Saturday afternoon during Norman's jazz festival. Right away, we saw and landed two comfy, wooden chairs outside. The picnic tables were loaded with happy families, so we were glad to see some private seating. Entertainment was good, and I fraternized with some friendly strangers sitting nearby. Only draw back was that my boyfriend had to stand in long lines, twice, once at bar to order/pick up drinks, and then, later, at food counter. Loved the fried chicken tenders!!! Place was buzzing, with so many people. Perhaps overcrowded or understaffed? All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, and couldn't have asked for a better day listening to music, in the sun! read more

Stopped in the week they opened for a week night date with my boyfriend. All-around it's a great place. Huge beer selection that's all local. Also had a selection of OK Cider Co ciders and some sellers from other local places which was great because I'm not a beer drinker but my partner is. The food was pretty good although it's a pretty small mostly bar-type food menu. We will be back. The servers were super friendly but in the future we will likely eat some where else first and come visit for the beer selection and the cool outdoor area. For two beers each plus an app and two entrees we ended up spending almost $80 for two people to eat dinner on a Tuesday night which seemed a little crazy considered how little we actually ordered. read more

First time in on a Friday afternoon with a bunch of work friends. Not impressed! The people running the bar acted like they were doing you a favor to serve you. CC got charged for an extra beer (get your receipt). Y'all. Seriously, if you haven't been to The Standard, you're missing out! It's a casual brewhouse with tons of variety on tap and a full bar for libations. Their food menu is stellar - from their champagne chicken salad to their burgers, fish and chips, friend green tomatoes, and fried chicken - I've never tasted something here that didn't impress. I already absolutely love this place! Excellent beer selection - at an amazing bar - and the garage door bays between the bar and the outdoor space create a delightful open atmosphere. My kids loved playing and hanging out in the outdoor space. The food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the catfish and fried green tomatoes. We enjoyed the atmosphere. It was very relaxed and a great place to meet up with friends and/or bring kids. There are two separate counters. One to order drinks and one to order food. It is walk up counters to order and they bring your food to you. We ordered wings, an onion burger with fried okra as a side, chips and queso, and kids chicken tenders. The highlight for me was the fried okra. My husband loved the wings and our toddler was a fan of the chicken. Personally thought the queso was small for the price. Years ago this was Norman Bodyworks, it was a great auto body shop. It should have stayed a body shop. This was easily the greasiest fried chicken i have had in my 61 years. I dont know if they put sugar in their batter or if they put honey on the final product but fried chicken should not be sweet. We have been there 3 times now and each time was dreadful.
