Hot and hungry while shopping downtown, we looked for a place close by and came upon The Spring on Main. The stairs were a little challenging for my elderly mother, but we made it up to their cozy little spot on top. My mind was set on a burger, but before the server returned to take our order, I changed my mind to the Heirloom Tomato and Corn Salad to keep it a little light as we had more shopping to do -- and I'm so glad I did. We've got takeout from here a couple of times now. As locals, we know the restaurant scene here in town pretty well. Gotta say that The Spring on Main strikes a great balance between fresh, innovative and tasty fare while being laid-back and casual. The staff work their butts off to take care of customers. It's a fun and festive spot in the heart of downtown. But the real attraction is the food! They have a well thought out menu that offers something for just about everyone. Loved the heirloom tomato and charred corn salad. They use fresh, local ingredients as much as possible. They make their own ranch dressing with fresh herbs. It's crazy good. But not to be outdone by the panko avocado and crab! Really fresh and tasty! And the burgers are done perfectly. Crispy charred on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. Oh, although they only have one dessert it is the bomb: a dark chocolate budino (that's Italian for "pudding") dressed with a light drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and flakes of sea salt. Dined here on a Friday night after driving into town for a weekend get away from KC and chose this place based on reviews. After seeing the inside, I didn't expect it to be great but the food was amazing! I ordered the miso glazed salmon and my husband ordered the steak, both of which arrived cooked perfectly to the temp we ordered (which I feel never happens)! The veg sides weren't just tossed on the plates as an after thought and both proteins had a nice crust. The front of house really did the kitchen a disservice, however. We didn't have a reservation but there were several open "reserved" tables when we arrived that we (nor the "reserving" parties) were sat at while we waited), so the seating system was a little off. We were also told that the bar was too full to get a drink while we waited... It seemed like there was only one server and the hostess was helping to take orders because they were understaffed but she was a little awkward, then the kitchen was running food because they were so in the weeds. Our salads came out with our entrees instead of before, and we waited forever on drinks/refills. read more

Great location on the second floor above Main Street. Many of the tables look out onto the street below. We were seated towards the back so couldn't enjoy the view. What we did get to see is a lady in a camo onesie feeding her dog on the table, the chair, the floor, you name it. I don't think pets should be allowed in restaurants. You want to walk them, carry them into shops, put them in a shopping cart, so be it, but don't let them wander all around while others are trying to eat/drink. Food was very good, but service was slow going. Waiter seemed to only be able to handle one task at a time and had to go back and reset before moving on to the next task. read more

At first I wasn't sure what to expect since we weren't greeted on a very warm way- the man seemed too busy to really care about welcomes. Our actual server Jim was wonderful though, and provided a truly warm dining experience. I ordered the heirloom tomato and corn salad and WOW it was so good! The squash appetizer was also a major hit- I love squash but my family does not.. they liked this! We ended up coming for dinner a second time. I will say that it would be sooo much better if more restaurants would update their menu to reflect gluten-free options, and show more care and concern for those of us that actually suffer the consequences of hidden gluten in meals. The Spring could EASILY do this and they should, they have a lot of people traveling from all over and it would mean a lot to A LOT of people. Came here for dinner. Only reason this place isn't getting five stars because some of the food wasn't for us. The weight staff was incredibly friendly and discounted our ticket when he realized we didn't enjoy one of the items we had ordered. Beyond that our food was good, and so was the service and atmosphere. They had the windows open so you could feel a breeze but it wasn't over powering. Definitely worth a shot! read more

Great ambience and food! We enjoyed a bottle of wine and I loved the kimchi burger with egg and gochujang aioli! They were able to make it with a beyond burger, which is great for non-meat eaters! Just dropped in to check it out. We just had wine and a wonderful local beer on draft. Wait staff was very friendly and welcoming. We saw other patrons enjoying a charcuterie board and some of their special potion cocktails. You have to walk upstairs to enjoy the food and drink but it was a fun place. Such a great brunch, the Florentine eggs Benedict were luscious, and the Hollandaise good & lemony. Also had a Salty Dog with pink grapefruit juice, which was a nice change. My go-to from now on. Service was really nice & friendly and the space is comfortable and sort of funky, which I like. The reviews fooled me. I made a reservation for two, arrived half an hour early, an hour before they closed. Upon walking in, the first thing said to me was, "We aren't taking walk-ins. We close soon." I have never been greeted like that at a place of business before. I informed her that I had reservations. I ordered a classic Benedict and my mom ordered a basic breakfast sandwich. The food was sub-par and that's generous. My mom's sandwich arrived without the potatoes or fruit mentioned in the meal description. Upon asking, the waitress informed us how small the fruit cup was that came with it, like it was nothing worth asking for. We let her know she just wanted what came with it. She finally received the fries and fruit cup. The fries were over cooked and not the fries that usually come with it. Upon their delivery, she was informed they were out of the others. Meanwhile, the "potatoes" that came with my benedict were cut like minced garlic. They were so dry and overly crunchy, nothing enjoyable about them. I'm not sure how you can mess up breakfast, but we left highly disappointed. read more

Our waitress was excellent. All of the food was wonderful from the squash appetizer to the lobster rolls. It was my parents anniversary so we ordered a yummy dessert to top it off. They also carry local beers which I love when traveling. We sat outside behind the restaurant. They brought out a fan to cool things off a bit. We LOVED this place! It's on the second floor of a building right off main street with windows that open to main, great breeze, great light, mid century atmosphere but the best part is the food!!! Local beer, great cocktail list. We had the smoked duck pastrami eggs benedict and the avocado toast with a side of millionaire bacon. It's $6 for two slices of bacon but BEST BACON EVER. The duck pastrami was off the charts good and the hollandaise sauce was light and lemony. Everything was packed with flavor. The avocado toast had roasted garlic gloves and the most delicious thick cut sautéed onions and fresh herbs. We tried the black ipa from Bentonville brewery and it was hoppy but also malty and balanced, GREAT beer. Service was great. We will be back! read more

Head up the pink staircase to enjoy some of the best food you'll ever have! Our server, Jim, was able to recommend amazing drinks, dinner & dessert. The Sunrise was exceptional-a martini that was not too sweet, not too strong, just right, Goldilocks . Then onto the fresh, crispy salad, Miso Charred Salmon-this deserves a special shout out. Some of the BEST salmon I've ever eaten, perfectly cooked & seared with broccolini & shiitake mushrooms also seasoned & cooked to perfection. I stopped eating the salad so I could just concentrate on the fantastic entree! Then onto the chocolate mousse with fresh whipped cream & a sprinkle of salt to really set off the chocolate flavor. Though the location is relatively small and was incredibly busy when we visited, the staff here were absolutely accommodating and the food excellent- but not to be outdone by the outstanding drink menu! Avoid. Members of our family never received their food or drink orders. Those that did encountered undercooked meats. We were quite patient with our waitress throughout service. Even the person who never received her beyond burger was able to share some fries with others and was making plans in finding food elsewhere in town. After the bill was delivered one of our family was finally handed her entree and a carry out box. The waitress had made adjustments to the final bill that reflected the missing food and drink items. However, we were embarrassed when she dramatically plopped down at a neighboring table and openly discussed us as if we were somehow at fault. read more
