Good breakfast buffet; we enjoyed a relaxed meal in the historic dining room. The small Waffles were the highpoint of our meal; excellent! The only type of eggs on buffet were a fluffy Egg Fritata, but they were good. Bacon & Sausage were both tasty, as was the Fruit/Yoghurt dish. Service was average. They weren't refreshing, replenishing or cleaning up anything) was eggs Benedict. First time around they were raw. And came w/ hash browns I don't eat. WOW, we finally got to eat at the infamous 1886 Crescent Hotel! And even on my wife's birthday too! All while driving across the country from Utah to NC. Check this one off the bucket list! So yes, for my wife's birthday I took her, her brother and his wife, and I to the Crystal Dining Room for a wonderful brunch on August 23rd of 2020, and we had an excellent time. Yes, we had to mask-up, but once seated off came the masks. The Crystal Dining Room has a very unique menu to say the least...and I since I wasn't driving, I ordered the rather unique "Dr. Baker's Spicey Bloody Mary"...and WOW was that good. Service: The waitstaff here is excellent! They alone would receive five stars. We were fortunate enough to have both Elissa and Robert serve us during our visits. Friendly with helpful information and funny quips. These two were amazing! Dinner: We first ate dinner, which is Italian food served family-style. We started with the field green salad and then ordered the Chicken Carbanara-ish and Cioppino, both of which were served with breadsticks. The food tasted okay - nothing earth-shattering, especially for the price. Breakfast: We ate here twice for breakfast out of convenience. Both times, the food was pretty terrible. Eggs are bland, bacon flavorful but with a weird texture, biscuits burnt. Even the stuffed French toast, which is the prize dish, was only okay. Nearly all dishes are served with breakfast potatoes and toast. The potatoes are hard and flavorless! Seriously, I've never met a breakfast potato I didn't like - until now. The first morning, I could hardly puncture the potatoes with my fork! And there's zero seasoning on them. They went entirely uneaten by all parties. The toast is served barely warm and four huge slices stacked up. I can't imagine who would eat so much bread with their breakfast. Breakfast at the Creasant Hotel was amazing! 8 bucks got me 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage and 4 toast, outstanding service , a really good guy playing guitar, dang you can't beat that, the coffee was good , the milk was cold, sun shinning , birds chirping , what a great day! My wife used the restroom and said it was very clean, COVID rules are being followed here, even got to see a picture of a ghost from the ghost tour! Highly recommend for breakfast read more

Had reservations and tired to get an early time but was filled up, they called us in the room and had an available table. Jesse provided us with great service and recommendations. There is a lot of food per dish we were only able to eat about half our dish. The food is amazing savory every bite, best meal I have had in a long time. The desert Tiramisu only took a few bites fresh made and we will be eating this later in the balcony with a glass of wine. This is a must try and can't wait to try it again. read more

So I ate here because the original place I chose for breakfast was closed. I ordered the Farmhand Breakfast. My toast was hard and crusted all over the place. The eggs were dry (even though I request cooked easy) and flavorless. The bacon was a little hard. I wondered if they just put my stuff together off the buffet until I overhead staff say to another guest that the buffet was not open today. Overall it was edible and would do the trick but I'm on vacation and want more than just edible. My waiter was nice but I was a little grossed out when I could see his bare hands touching my food as he brought it to the table. I'm from Louisiana and so I appreciated the music, but this is not a restaurant we would want associated with the Crescent City. read more

I was so looking forward to visiting the Crescent Hotel and dining in the Crystal restaurant. The historical ambience of the hotel was fascinating. Unfortunately, the dining was anything but fascinating! Imagine being served slightly grilled scallops RAW inside! Apologies were made and returned to the kitchen, which took another 15-20 minutes to return! The waiter, a personal young man, made excuses for the bartender, "he's learning how to make a martini"...which I discovered was not true! Michael, the bartender, made an excellent martini! The only complaint, the olives seemed a bit old. That was the end of excellence in dining! The wine selection was a let down given the elegance and history of the dining room. The Chicken Alfredo was mushy and seemed to have sat for longer than necessary before bringing out; ate the the chicken and left the pasta! The pizza, described as Smokey BBQ Chicken should have been described as Smokey BBQ BACON with a smattering of chicken. The table we were seated was great! The piano player was superlative!! Was so happy to have walked in and been seated at a lovely table for 6. They asked if we had a reservation, which we did not so I was a bit worried. But they hurried a table together and sat us right away. Food was delicious and plentiful and was VERY reasonably priced. We were all surprised. Food was fine. However, when presented with the check, the server had to explain that the 18% that was added to our tip was not gratuity. It was for the bus boy and host, etc. So unfortunate. I would have left a 20% tip for our server, However, the bill was already more than I had planned on. She was very nice but in a very difficult situation. She had to say the 18% was not gratuity when it clearly was, just not for her. At least that is what she said. I suppose she could have just come up with a story about it. This place is great! We ate here for breakfast and again for dinner while staying at the Crescent Hotel. Big open dining room, great atmosphere. For breakfast, my wife and I both had the Farmhand's Breakfast ($8) with biscuits & gravy instead of toast (sub cost $1), and traded the sausage for more bacon (another $1) and the bottomless coffee ($2). Big portions and great flavor for $12 each! For dinner, we had the Lobster Mac N Cheese ($14) for the appetizer (so good!), the Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops ($19), and the Salmon ($27). The portions are huge! See photos for scale. We also had a seasonal drink called "The Jasper" ($8.50/ea) which was a dessert-style mint chocolate creme drink served in a martini glass. We stayed at the Hotel for a few days and ate there twice for breakfast and once for dinner. Unfortunately, it was hyped as finer dining and was in reality just OK. The breakfast buffet is good but not any better than most of the good breakfast buffets we have all had. The eggs benedict was the same, good but not above average. For dinner, I and the wife had mixed results. First of all the lasagna I had been planning on for a week was no longer on the menu. Italian restaurant without lasagna? My next typical choice would have been the lobster ravioli but considering we were in the mountains with no ocean for a few hundred miles, I didn't feel like throwing the dice on what I knew would be just ok from being frozen. I decided to try the special of pork chops with fingerling potatoes and mac&cheese. The quantity was great but the chops (2) were covered in an overly sweet sauce that ran into my overly cooked mac and cheese that may as well have come from a cafeteria. Our calamari was excellent and my wife raved about her meatless spaghetti that came in a very healthy quantity. Overall I was quite disappointed with the quality and selection but the wife's spaghetti and the calamari brought my dinner average back up to a 3. i would have preferred Olive Garden to be honest. Would I eat here again? Most definitely, but I wouldn't be looking forward to it. And the front desk said there were no reservations until 7pm. Found this gem while on a motorcycle trip through Arkansas. What a treat. Service was excellent and the ambiance was fantastic. And the views! Since it was going to be a long hot day we chose to pass on the buffet and opt for the menu. The buffet looked delicious and very tempting. Portions were more than generous and the food was delicious! Prices were extremely reasonable, which when we're pulling in was surprising given the setting. I will say some of my food was a bit salty (hash browns especially) but it didn't stop me from enjoying. We will be back and hopefully stay a night or two for the ghost tours! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to have the completely opposite experience here. All of the veggie sides featured fresh (not frozen/canned) veggies that were seasoned perfectly.
