One of my favorite places to spend time with my kids! The Springhouse is many things. A delicious restaurant, a fantastic market, a dairy that makes phenomenal milk and a place for amazing events like the fall festival and events with Santa. They even have special events where groups (and often the general public) can sign up for a tour where you get to learn about their dairy operations and even milk a cow! When you visit in the fall, they have a lot of great themed decorations (as well as activities that you can pay to be a part of). But you can enjoy the festive vibes and decor without doing the whole experience if you are short on time or cash. Their food is delicious! The best way to describe it is homemade comfort food! The friendly staff is knowledgeable and will answer any questions you might have about what certain things are or about ingredients. You can also eat fairly affordably, especially for the portion sizes and homemade, quality ingredients. The shop has a variety of souvenir type items (shirts, magnets, mugs, stuffed animals) but also local products like cheese and candy. They also have bakery items and tasty ice cream. The market sells a variety of foods and beverages from the family business as well as from other local businesses. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catering. My husband and I shopped in the market one time. We saw milks, cheeses, deli meats, salads, baked goods, canned goods, ice creams, candies, and much more. So many delicious foods! We were away from home and had just eaten at another restaurant, so we purchased only two small things--a brookie (a chocolate-chip cookie with a brownie inside) and a small cherry pie. The total price was $11. On the next day, we ate the brookie and the cherry pie at home. They tasted pretty good. This is a great, unique spot. My wife, 3 year old son, and I recently stopped over Memorial Day and had a great time. They had live music, farm activities, and a lot of stuff for kids to see. There is a big slide area which my son loved. There is also a second slide behind the building where there is outdoor seating. It was a nice area that allowed parents to eat while the kids continued to play. We all split a bunch of the food options. We had the whole chicken, ribs, cabbage and noodles, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. Everything was delicious. You can tell it is all homemade. The ribs were my favorite. The meat was so tender, it fell off the bone. The bbq sauce was also delicious. The cabbage and noodles were also really good. Before leaving we got some of their ice cream. I had the chocolate peanut butter and it was amazing. It had so many peanut butter pieces and the chocolate flavor was perfect. We also took a gallon of their fresh chocolate milk to go, which did not last long at our house. Highly recommend stopping here, especially for those with kids. read more

It's definitely hit or miss lately as far as the hot food goes, which is disappointing. Food was very good. It's very expensive for this style of restaurant. They put your food on cheap plastic plates and give you plastic silverware. We took our elderly aunt there for lunch. No one bothered to ask us or her if she needed help. So my husband and I had to get all our food and help her sit down. We wanted to go boxes because we couldn't eat all the food. I'm not sure why this place bills itself as a buffet; it is not. It's a cafeteria-style restaurant. I found the food to be borderline inedible--especially the stuffed cabbage, which had a sauce that tasted like a blend of plain tomato sauce and vinegar. The onions in the hash brown casserole were undercooked, as was some of the broccoli in that casserole. We bought some gobs to take home, which we came to regret. The filling was over-sugared and dense. We did enjoy the cinnamon roll, though. The other members of my party ate their meals just fine, but I don't have a sense of whether they found the food to be good or just mediocre. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

We love going to the Spring House for their fall activities. They have a hayride and two great play areas for the kids. The one you can see from the road has slides that will provide plenty of entertainment for the kids. The other activity area is up in the hill at the end of the hayride where you can pick your own pumpkin. Do forget to stop in the market for a sweet treat or lunch. They have lots of bakery items and ice cream plus a hot buffet. We have gotten the pulled pork sandwiches which are huge and very tasty. On the weekends they usually have someone outside on the small porch playing music. He is great! read more

Oddly enough, I had never heard about the Springhouse, even though I don't live too far away. Then, one day while I was at work, multiple people mentioned it in completely different conversations to me. Every one of them told me that I needed to take my family ASAP when they found out we had never been. Considering that these recommenders live considerably far from the Springhouse, and make that long trek themselves...that same day, I rounded up my troops and made the drive. To say we fell in love with the place was an understatement. The store was awesome, everything was CLEAN...the deli looked fresh and delicious, and the ice cream bar very tempting. The bakery section made me want to buy everything in sight and try it. The hot food section was great, and the staff were even better. We had so many questions with it being our first time, and everyone was not only helpful and supportive, but genuinely nice. They seemed to actually WANT to help us. Was very impressed by them. All of the food items we had were great. You can definitely tell the food is homemade. The ice cream items we had were very good as well. The only thing that made me a bit sad was they didn't have any more apple dumplings, and I hope to one day soon be able to remedy that! So, I figured I deserved to buy myself a box of their homemade orange cookies from the bakery. They definitely did not disappoint! Probably the best ones I've had...they rivaled my grandmother's! When we were done, the family and I took a walk around back and checked all of the cool seating areas out, and other things that was there for the kids. We found ourselves at the little petting zoo portion, and there were many farm hands around putting in two new baby goats. We got to play with them, and had a great time. As always the food personifies comfort food. I had the Celebration Chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was spectacular. I tried the ribs, chicken and biscuits and the mac n cheese. (My grandkids entrees). They gave the BEST chocolate milk, farm fresh.... No hormones. My grandson said the lemonade was really good. I've been coming to the Spring house since I was a kid. There's really something special about this place. I haven't been here in years so I decided to take my boyfriend to check it out. We were like two kids in a candy store there lol We knew to start out with a shopping cart because we were going to need it! We were throwing items in the cart left and right. They have an amazing selection of everything here. Baked goods, cheeses, noodles, salads, ice cream you name it. They have a deli section equipped with fresh salads to die for. The loaded baked potato salad is amazing! They also have a hot foods section with tons of different specials everyday. I ordered the cream chicken over biscuit and was not disappointed. We also grabbed some of the yummy cupcakes to take home with us. You can't leave this place without grabbing some chocolate milk so of course we got some of that too! If you have the opportunity give this place a try, it's definitely worth while. read more

The Springhouse used to be one of my favorite places, but I was so disappointed during my last visit for the following reasons..... 1) The sides at the Springhouse are $3.99. When you purchase 3 sides, they ring it up under Peter Rabbit's Garden, which is $12.99. This makes absolutely no sense at all and is extremely frustrating. Why are customers being charged an extra $1.00 for Peter Rabbit's Garden? My husband purchased 4 sides and was charged $14.95 ($3.99 per side). Why is the 3 side platter more than 3 sides? This is something that needs to be changed, and it needs to be changed NOW! 2) The Cheesy Broccoli Rice was BURNT and COMPLETELY DRIED OUT! Sides can only be left out so long before they are completely dried out and need to be replaced with a fresh batch. 3) The PORTION SIZE for the BAKED APPLE was beyond small. The piece that they were serving was ¼ of a very small apple. All of the sides should be the same size. Other sides, like mashed potatoes and Mac n Cheese are a large scoop and then the baked apple is a teeny, tiny slice of baked apple! 4) The Springhouse has 5 or 6 options for a MAIN AND 2 SIDES, BUT THERE IS NEVER A VEGETARIAN OPTION! Why can't Mac n Cheese, Haluski, peirogies, or Vegetarian Lasagna be a Main Entrée? There is no reason why one of the 5 or 6 main entrees cannot be vegetarian! 5) The portion size of the sides is getting smaller and smaller. 6) Why do you hardly ever have the baked pineapple, which is one of the best sides that you make? read more

The Spring House has a lot to offer. You can find yourself hanging out with some wooden frames for your faces to take goofy photos to make you look like a cow, slide down a really long metal slide, climb a tree, order a milkshake and during the right season catch a hay-ride tour around the farm ! The grocery here is one of my favorite selections in Washington / 84 having grown up in the area. It's a taste of home that is irreplaceable and anytime I get a chance to stop by we do! The dairy products are all fresh to! Everyday at lunch time there are different specials, these items are all hot food items. As you walk around the store, there are samples everywhere to! The pies are the best. We have a family tradition of getting their pies every holiday. The baked breads are very good too. There was a period where the breads went down hill a little, but they seem to have a good baker back in charge again. The buffet line is cafeteria style, paying for what you get at the end of the line. It is good country food fair. Only complaint is that it can be very chaotic at checkout. Be patient. Sometimes you get waited on right away, other times you are wondering what everyone is doing and why not one of them is on register. All part of the experience. Sad side for minorities: we have experienced being ignored for service there (beyond the normal checkout chaos I mentioned). This takes the form of looking past you to the person right behind you and asking them if they are ready to check out. It took awhile to realize it was intentional by some employees. If the cashier looks over you to the next person in line like you are not there, politely speak up. Most customers will point out that you were next in line. We have been going there for two decades and this is definitely not the norm! But certain workers did this to us enough times that it bares stating. read more
