Had a delicious lunch. The gyro platter was great...Greek salad was fresh and flavorful, plenty of meat (half is going home with me), grandsons enjoyed their wings, and my husband loved his Orange and Blue burger. Prices are very reasonable with huge portions. read more

Perfect "spot" for a quick lunch that is hearty and very reasonably priced. I've had the gyro and veggie gyro. Both are large portions and super fresh. The veggie gyro has chunks of carrot, mushroom, zucchini, onion, peppers, lettuce, tomato, with a creamy tzatziki sauce on a warm pita. The gyro meat was very tasty. Definitely go here if you love a lot of fresh and affordable food. read more

The gyro platters are amazing, I usually get them for lunch. The go very well with hummus instead of tzaziki. It might be a little bit overpriced, but the taste is usually worth it. read more

Excellent Gyros, Greek salads, and oddly enough, hamburgers. We often go here for lunch or late night meal after the gators games. Dood is always fresh and delicious. Favorite Greek food in town. read more

Chicken souvlaki is absolutely delicious. Always fast and fresh with generous portions for a good price. The Spot is my go to for lunch.

There aren't many Greek restaurants in Gainesville, so when a coworker suggested we eat here for lunch I was very excited, and The Spot did not disappoint! I had the spanakopita plate which included a salad and pita bread and it was both filling and delicious! The bread was so soft I couldn't resist eating all four pieces and the spanakopita was very flaky and warm. The salad was also a nice size, so even though it was lunch I left feeling like I got my money's worth. The service was also very quick, I received my food within 7-10 minutes and had plenty of time to eat during my lunch break and still walk back. I will definitely be popping by again soon! read more

I've found this hidden gem freshman year and am so glad ! It's a family business and they are all so kind. The menu is huge and has anything from gyros to quesadillas to sandwiches and salads. Many vegetarian options as well, the food is prepared quickly and tastes great ! I recommend ! read more

The Spot - veggie gyro with fries - Greek Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

Shockingly good gyro sandwiches. I've only been here twice, but the sandwich was impeccable both times. I'm a gyro fan -- I like the crispy bits when the meat has turned slowly over the heat. This gyro meat is the best I've eaten in Gainesville. It's tender, juicy, and the crispy bits are perfect. The pita is soft, thick, doughy and super-fresh. The lettuce is lovely -- also very fresh, crispy, nice in every way. (NOT shredded confetti.) The tzatziki is very good: Not too garlicky, and it's nicely thick. The sandwich also has fresh tomatoes and cucumbers in it. The combo with fries and a drink is reasonably priced and very generous in size. Both times I ate here, the fries were cooked to order and perfectly done. I liked them a lot even though they are the crinkle-cut style, not my favorite. As others have noted, the people who work here are fast, polite, and friendly. The location is under a parking garage. There is almost NO street parking here. There is a paid lot farther down the street. read more

The Spot was recommended to us. I ordered a burger and was unimpressed; a very average burger. The onion rings were good, though. My daughter got a gyro and enjoyed it. I will go back, but I won't order their burgers, again. read more

Really good gyros. Large portions and good balance of flavors. Ordered for pick up and food was waiting with my name clearly marked when I arrived. read more

The Spot is the underrated gem in Gainesville's midtown area, across from the University of Florida campus. Parking tends to be difficult given how packed the area is, but the food and service here is absolutely fantastic. All food is freshly made and the portions are large, so as far as quality and quantity you certainly get your bang for your buck. They specialize in Mediterranean dishes, such as souvlaki and gyros, but they also have some American food options like hamburgers. I personally always get the souvlaki platter, which comes with chicken, pita, fries, tzatziki sauce, and a greek salad, and I always find myself so full afterward from the amount of food in that dish. The staff is always friendly as well (I believe they are a family but I'm not totally sure). It's a shame that this place doesn't seem as crowded as places like Sushi Chao or Designer Greens whenever I go; The Spot to me is, as it's name says, the best restaurant spot in midtown. read more

The spot is literally the best place ever. It's yummy, they have so many options, and all the people that work there are so nice. It's also not expensive at all. It's been hidden for years but people still find it because it's amazing. read more

Delicious food you definitely get your money's worth!! $24 for two drinks a chicken pita platter with a Greek salad and fries and a chicken pita sandwich and fries and an order of hummus with pita. Very authentic and delicious food!!! You won't be disappointed. read more

Went here for lunch in the middle of a work day and it hit THE SPOT. You can get a platter with a lot of food for just $10 bucks. The pita bread came out warm and fresh as could be. Everything tasted fresh off the grill. Definitely a great place close to campus if you're looking for some Mediterranean food for a good price. And the people were nice as well. It's in a little food court with many other options close by, so everyone in your party can choose what they would like and sit together in the hallway of them all. I think this area has lots of potential and enjoyed my experience! read more

Consistently the best gyro in town. A little out of the way for those of us that do not hang around UF. Parking can also be challenging but worth the effort. read more

I have been a frequent costumer since the 6th of January 2015. The spot crew is extremely friendly and have great food. Aside from the excellent service and great Gyros, I was offered coffee and fries for free multiple times. On Tuesday the chef saw that I was coughing and she brought me lemon juice! If you have 15 minutes or an hour to grab lunch, I would recommend The spot! read more

The spot has some good greasy food. The gyro sandwich or gyro platter (just the meat with other ingredients on the side) is the best gyro in town. I enjoy eating the hamburger quesadilla, which is a traditional quesadilla but with hamburger meat. The fries are good. Surprisingly they have a good cannoli. Good place and nice staff!! read more

So so good!! The chicken here is amazing. I have had the chicken souvlaki and the greek salad with chicken and both were fantastic! The price is also very good for the amount of food you get. The employees are also very kind and attentive. Service was very fast! read more

This is the Spot. Yummy and supper fast service. Did I mention the food was delicious.

The Spot hit THE SPOT for my lunch break! The lady running the register is like the Greek god godmother. Super sweet and friendly. Place is oddly situations next to parking lot entrance but within the area are several other opening up spots of eateries. The place is reasonable priced and a/c even in the semi looking outdoor area. I got the open gyro which was explained to me as a smaller version of the gyro platter. I can't imagine how big the platter is Bc my meal was large enough. Came with salad with feta cheese fries plentiful gyro, vinaigrette dressing on side and Tzatziki sauce. It was all delicious and I loved the lamb. You don't eat no meat! Don't worry I make you lamb! read more

Great place to pop in and grab a bite to eat for lunch. The Atmosphere: 3 stars The giant menu boards featured the typical blue and orange motif common in UF territory, which was a nice nod to what I'm sure is a large portion of their regular customer base. The restaurant itself is part of a building with a central indoor corridor lined with tables and chairs, connecting it to other restaurants (and restaurants-to-come) in the same shopping center. It had a very "mall food court" vibe, although that's not a terrible thing considering you don't come to a place like this for the ambiance. You come for the food. The Food: 5 stars Nice Greek-American menu, putting Greek platters and sandwiches alongside burgers, ruebens, and quesadillas. The lamb gyro is absolutely amazing. Delicious meat wrapped in a warm pillowy pita and topped with cool, creamy tzatziki...drooling just thinking about it. BUT THE FRIES. Ah! The fries are a masterpiece. Perfectly crispy, beautifully seasoned...each bite was like eating a work of art. The Beverages: 4 stars What you'd expect: fountain or bottled sodas, water, etc. Bonus star for having coffee and espresso as well. No alcohol. The Service: 4 stars My friend and I were greeted promptly as we entered by a young man behind the counter. He offered recommendations since we had stated it was our first time and we ordered. He was very kind throughout the entire interaction, if a little shy. We had our food within 10 minutes, bagged up to go, and were on our way back home. Overall, great value for your money and absolutely delicious food. Next time you make a stop in this area, stop at The Spot. read more

One word: Delicious! This place has the best gyros and Greek salads. Their prices aren't bad at all and you get a lot of food for your money. I think it's a family owned place and everyone is very friendly. When you order it's all fresh and you can hear them cooking it while you wait. Don't hesitate to go here! read more

The Spot - Gyro platter and chicken souvlaki. - Greek Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

This is hands down the best Greek place in Gainesville and that I've ever tried in my life. It doesn't seem like it would be amazing from the outside but order the Classic Gyro u won't regret it. This place is my everything. Best ever!! read more

Food options are pretty good, enjoyed the large amount of food! Huge! Probably could have ordered one for the both of us. The chicken and fries were delicious! Get a platter, it will feed you twice. Only thing the parking in the garage is pretty bad.... read more

I tried their gyro quesadilla and it was great!! I didnt have any problems at all and the portions are large. I barely finished the quesadilla and wish the place was still open over the summer. read more

This is one of my favorite go-to restaurants in Gainesville!! The food is amazing and the price is so right. The Gyro platter never disappoints- the meat is always crispy and the fries have a unique seasoning that you can only find there. The tzatziki sauce is also really good, its thicker and has some garlic to give it a slightly spicy kick. The pita bread is also so delicious it's always warm and crunchy. One of my favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants in gainesville! read more

The Spot - Gyro Plate - Greek Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

Everything I've ever had here was absolutely delicious. The staff works incredibly hard and it shows. The girl working the cash register was incredibly sweet and kind, she brought out our tables food and was I happy to help us with anything else we needed. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for good home cooked food. read more

*TMI* I dont mean to point fingers but i just woke up at 4 am running to the bathroom and throwing up shortly after. All that i had eaten yesterday was a bagel, a bowl of cereal, and the Gyro Platter + salad that i had ordered last night for dinner. I hadnt even digested the food yet. I ordered around 8 so maybe i got the 'end of the day' food but i'd step up your game in the kitchen before anyone else gets sick. read more

I used to really enjoy this place but last time I visited it was SO disappointing. The gyro meat was dry and tasteless and the tzatziki barely had any seasonings, just plain yogurt. read more

The portions here are HUGE for the price. And when I say huge, I mean, I can't even finish it for lunch and bring home half for dinner. The food is refreshing with typical items that you would find in any Greek restaurants. I would recommend getting the gyro, and if you're really hungry, the platter. Seating is outside with the other restaurants in the plaza. It can get busy sometimes, but I usually always find seating eventually. The construction outside really limits the parking options, so it makes it not as convenient to eat at. But if you can find parking, great lunch option. read more

This place consistently remains one of favorite spots near the UF campus. The food is great and the number of options always surprises me. The gyro platter with vegetables is my favorite and cannot be beat. It is located in a spot that is a little off the common area for restaurants in midtown but well worth finding. Stop by and enjoy. read more

I got the gyro platter. It was about 10 bucks. It was pretty good and definitely filling

Very good lunch spot. Their food is great and they give you a LOT! I ordered mozzarella sticks and was expecting 3-4 but was served 10+... definitely a good lunch spot read more

Delicious Greek food and burgers. I go there once a week. Very quick service highly recommend

We had The Gyro and it was delicious. If you're a big meat eater, this is the Greek Sandwich for you for there was plenty. Personally, I wish there was more veggies and less meat but I'm sure I'm one of the very few that would say that but I still enjoyed it very much. Everything was fresh and the meat was high quality. My fiancé and I split that one gyro and we both left full. It was so good, he had to order one to go to eat later at home. Definitely would recommend this place! The service was fast and friendly, always a big plus! read more

Not the worst but not the best either. Food portions are big which is great. But lacks flavor. I tried the gyro meat and it was good in taste but not sliced thin like a traditional gyro. My husband had the chicken souvlaki and needless to say it needed some more seasoning. A little extra tsatziki sauce wouldn't hurt either. Has a lot of potential but I honestly don't know why it has 4.5 stars. read more

Best place to eat for $8... the gyros are phenomenal, comes with fries and a drink. I highly recommend it.

This is not a franchise. It is a family run Greek restaurant with excellent food. I am not a student and typically avoid anything near the university as places that cater to the students are often a disappointment to older diners. However, the food here is exceptional. Get grilled veggies instead of fries for $1 extra. We had gyro, souvlaki, and spinach pie. All were awesome!!! read more

I had the gyro combo. Gyro was very good. Reminded me of gyros I had back home in NYC. Very large serving. Couldn't finish all and I tried!! Fries were great with a great seasoning. read more
