Kevin did a great job for me. Called him at the spur of the moment and he was able to come through for me and drive up to Petaluma to load a spa and bring it back to Concord. Gave me updates as he got loaded up and on his way to me. He has the right equipment to do the job and move a spa without damaging it. I was going to attempt it myself but you just can't beat the way he does it and handles it with care. His trailer does some transformer thing and stands the spa up and turns the trailer into a dolly ready to roll into the backyard. His whole setup was pretty impressive. Kevin helped me move a hot tub from a friends house in Green Valley to rural North Vacaville. I was expecting four Samoans to pull up. I was a little concerned when Kevin pulled up alone, but quickly realized he worked using his brain and not brawn. Kevin moved a 7'X7' hot tub over challenging terrain of dirt and bark through a narrow side yard. One thing I was very happy about was Kevin was very delicate with the tub. All his lifts and lowering were done with a large air bag wedge that he would gently manuever the tub with. Very ingenious. I would highly recommend this service over trying to do this job yourself. I so wanted to use this service and give the 5 star reviews as I've read here but no dice...A bit about my experience leading to the 1 star review - I called Kevin last Friday admittedly without the information for him to provide a quote (newbie here). I tried to give him the information to get a ballpark but I admittedly didn't have the size/dimensions or dry weight for him to provide a quote. That said, Kevin did mention he's been in the business 20 years. I'd like to think he'd be able to give an estimate based on his experience and my outline - but I do admit it's fair not to quote unless he qualifies it based on verifying the details. I'm in the East Bay, so The Spa Hopper made the most sense and actually gave me the best vibe on the phone so I scheduled an appointment to have a spa moved from my parents house to my house (about a 5 mile move.) Kevin showed up a few minutes early and they strategized a bit, then with a little science and technique had the spa out very quickly - It was sitting on a deck with a narrow stairway and tight corner around the side of the house. They carefully loaded it, moved it to my house, and set it exactly where I wanted it. Kevin answered a bunch of my spa related questions too and was very knowledgeable. Thanks for the advise too! Very weird. I called this guy at about 6pm and he answered the phone "Hello Private number" Strange way to answer the phone when running a business. I asked him how much it would cost to move a spa from (Almaden) San Jose to Los Gatos. He asked for the dimensions of the tub, I replied "7x7" . He then asked what the brand was, I didn't know. I asked why that was important and he DANCED around the question. I was a little concerned the brand of the tub may dictate the price. He became rude and hung up on me. I can't say enough good things about Kevin and his customer service skills. Initially, I called several spa movers for quotes; however, Kevin was the most reasonably priced and very professional. He explained the costs in detail, was on time for the pickup and delivery to my home. Also, he suggested to the previous owner to give us the GFI box which saved us $200 in electrical parts. After we got the electrical hooked up the spa at our home, the GFI breaker kept tripping. We decided to call Kevin to see if maybe there was a an additional switch we didn't know about, and he offered to come out to our home to look at it the same day we called. He was able to determine that a couple of the wires on the GFI box were switched and saved us $$$ by not having to hire an electrician to troubleshoot the problem. Yay, our spa now works!
