I don't believe this store should be selling Cuban Cigars. From the moment you walk in you can see that the stores focus is on everything but Cuban cigars. This assumption was validated when I found the cigars stored in the back of the store in humidors that are hidden and out of the way. Next, the humidity was all over the map, none of them accurately set. Once the humidor was opened, I got a chance to feel the cigars and look at them closely. The majority of the cigars where soft to the touch and many of the cigars were starting to peel apart and some had mold.

The space is fairly small but somehow they manage to cram in all the comics, board games, and geeky paraphernalia you could want on the shelves while still being browsable, and if for some reason they don't have something, the staff here are always happy to order it for you. In fact, the staff are what I miss the most about this store. Every single one of their employees does a great job making their customers feel comfortable and welcome, something that unfortunately doesn't always happen in comic shops. They know all of their regular customers by name and are quick to recommend new titles based on their interests. They're also always quick to rectify any potential situation. Once I had a comic come in with a tiny (very tiny) tear on it and they insisted on giving it to me for free. I probably wouldn't have noticed if they hadn't pointed it out and it really wasn't a big deal to me. That above and beyond attitude is rare and I very much appreciated it.

Barry is a very helpful and honest guy! I once had a lens filter stuck on, and was worried about…read moredamaging the lens by trying to force it off. I brought it in, and he was able to get it off even though it was cross-threaded, at no charge. I've also brought him a couple Olympus lenses to look at, one of which he immediately knew would need to be sent away (Olympus parts cannot be ordered, so if it needs parts vs. just cleaning, it needs to go back to the manufacturer). The other lens, he called me the day after I dropped it off, and also identified it needed to be sent away for repair. I needed it back for a wedding I was shooting soon, and was cutting it very close by sending it away. Due to other commitments, I knew I wasn't going to be able to pick it up until close to his closing time and the cut-off time for the courier. When I arrived, Barry had packaged it up in a box with bubble wrap and packing paper so I could just pick it up and drop it off at the courier! Talk about going above and beyond. He has yet to accept any payment for his diagnosis of my lenses, so I always try to buy something else while I'm in there. When I was looking for old film cameras to use as decor at our wedding, he gave me a bunch that were no longer usable but still nice to look at. So if you want to deal with a friendly camera repairman who will tell you it like it is, and has a great selection of equipment and other accessories, Barry at the Camera House is your guy! When I read the review from Gerry J., I knew I had to chime in and say my piece. :)

However, the thing this location really excels in is customer service. The staff here are great at identifying the difference between browsing and hopelessly lost. Today I was looking for supplies for a craft that took me all over the store and I had not one, not two, but three different staff members help me find what I needed. Seriously impressed. The same goes for checkout: the staff are always helpful with coupons and suggestions. I've never had anything but great service here. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5? Mostly corporate issues that I understand this location can't change. Michaels is terrible for making you feel ripped off with their constant coupons. Obviously everything is incredibly marked up. NEVER go there without a coupon. They almost always have one for at least 40% off a single item. Sometimes they even have ones that cover your whole transaction.
