a large group of people sitting at tables
    Ryan T.

We bought tickets for the dinner show and we went in a group of 6. I noticed you can get discounted tickets through Groupon or Goldstar, but they only allow you to buy up to 2 tickets at a time and you can't pick your table. We all wanted to sit together so we paid full price for tickets. We arrived at 7 pm and lined up. I'd estimate about 1/3 of the attendees dressed up in old-timey costumes, which was fun. If you dress up in costume you won't feel out of place, nor will you feel out of place if you don't dress up. Doors opened at about 7:30 and we went in and there were people walking around with appetizers on trays. The appetizers (like the main courses) were small but very tasty. The tempura and bean soup were especially good. The beet salad I didn't much care for. We had the beef short ribs which were delicious and enough food to keep us from being hungry, but it's not a large meal. There are drink menus on the bar with drink prices mostly in the upper $teens but there are also less expensive drinks available. The performers (some of whom we have seen previously at the Edwardian Worlds Faire) were great. The show is long - there are a couple of short performances between food courses, and then after dinner they let in the standing room only crowd and the main show begins. It didn't end until 11. Some of the performances are a bit sexy/flirty. It would make for a good date night. Full price tickets are a bit overpriced IMHO, but if you go for the groupon/Goldstar that's a good deal.

Meager portions so I left during dinner and brought back this stellar burger from Roam!

Ask the Community - The Soiled Dove

If you buy dinner tix, do you keep your seats for the 9pm show or do they clear out the dinner tables?

You keep your seat. Dinner is assigned tables and you're there the whole night. If you don't buy dinner there is a small open seating area in the back center.

Is it better to have a dinner ticket for better seats or does it matter?

I believe only dinner guests are guaranteed a seat. You will only get a seat with the show-only ticket if dinner tickets don't sell out and you are one of the first few to enter with the show ticket or if a dinner guest leaves early. Dinner is open… Read more

My second visit was for Hocus Pocus, and it didn't live up to the first. The drinks tasted watered down, the food was mediocre, and the dessert was completely flavorless. My third experience was supposed to be The Nightmare Before Christmas, but it was canceled and I was given a code for a future film. I used that code for Beauty and the Beast and was so excited--only to receive another cancellation email. Since this was the second movie that got canceled, I didn't feel comfortable taking yet another code, so I requested a refund instead. It's now been over two months, and I still haven't received it. Don't get me wrong--as a Disney lover, I think this concept is such a fun idea. But it feels like it may have run its course. For the price, I expected a lot more consistency in both quality and communication. Ironically, my best experience was Ratatouille, but I had to go to LA to see it because it wasn't offered in my area at that time. Overall, it can be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience--just make sure the event is actually delivering what you're paying for.

They sent out a generic email stating that I could reschedule or get a refund. For over a month I tried to be patient but all my calls and emails got ignored (all calls go to their voicemail) . These tickets are expensive and it's frustrating that they're taking advantage of people's hard earned money and they're not being honest. Their lack of transparency is really upsetting. It seems this is something that has been happening in different cities and if you don't believe me, look at all the negative reviews online. (Yelp, social media, TikTok). I did eventually reach out to my bank to dispute the charges and luckily they were able to assist me. Please save yourself the headache (and money) and use that instead to treat yourself to a nice dinner and a show somewhere else.

Booking was super easy and I thought they provided a lot of helpful details in the emails they sent, for example parking prices, a hint at what the game would be about, etc. I thought all of the actors did a fantastic job throughout the night. The fake participant at my table did a very convincing job at pretending they were a participant and only one very small thing had tipped me off prior to bigger hints that they weren't a real participant, but no spoilers! The show was adequately silly, interesting, and kept moving. Sometimes, random audience members would be called to participate, but it was all in good fun. I really hope the actors had as much fun as the audience. There was also a prize for the top sleuth, so write quickly! We also actually really enjoyed the food! My mom and I both ordered the fish - it was a very tasty roast salmon with vegetables. We heard from the others at our table that the chicken was pretty salty and some people couldn't finish it. The tiramisu was also a pretty huge chunk and delicious. Not too sweet. The dinner was at the beautiful Marker Hotel. We definitely enjoyed taking photos in the hotel before/after the game. Also they had clean bathrooms. For parking, while they do provide parking prices at the hotel, mom and I were able to score cheaper parking elsewhere by booking on ParkWhiz. Overall, I would highly recommend checking it out at least once if you're curious what a murder mystery dinner may be like. I thought the show, venue, and food combination was well worth the price we paid. I would definitely go back to another show.

When we arrived to our theater we were greeted and offered a glass of water. All seemed okay until they informed us that their popcorn machine was broken and there was no popcorn! My mouth dropped as the huge tins of popcorn are the main reason I loved Alamo! Overall the movie was good and we ordered a subpar pizza instead, but it wasn't quite worth going to the movies without popcorn. Putting in payment info was so tough, with the cred card number being so many digits and possibly prone to typos. Had to take my eyes away from the movie for a long time unfortunately to deal with this. Even worse if you're using a gift card, or two, or three, or in addition to credit card. Really prefer the ordering system prior, writing it on paper. Was way more user friendly. After my first round of food, placed an additional order for 3 waters (because I was dying of thirst from the truffle popcorn) which weren't brought to us sadly. Then was handed a bill in the end even though I went through all the work plugging in the payment info online. Then after the movie no one came to collect the payment. It was annoying all around. Mystique is a 'dinner and a show' venue in old town Folsom on Sutter Street. Making reservations online was easy and you get to pre-select your meal online when you make those reservations. They also run gift certificate specials so be sure to look for those. Pricing may seem high at first. BUT take into consideration what the evening will entail. This is a first class dinner AND a first rate show for your evening. The seating is very limited and they book up quickly. The interior dining venue is elaborate and 'magical' in design and decor. Perfect for a magic show! Our hostesses were friendly, humorous and specific about how the evening would proceed. All of our fellow guests were super friendly, talkative and all of us had a great time and conversations throughout the night. The 5 course dinner (4 plus a palate cleanser) was excellent and a tremendous amount of food was served. Most people took home food for later. I was rather surprised as how large the portions were. And, it was all well prepared and very good. The entire room of diners were all quite impressed. Now, on to the show.... After our meals were completed, and dishes cleared, our magician host came out and the show began. Experiencing a magician performing up close is something to behold. He was excellent with his talents, and had everyone in stitches with the comedy. This is an audience participation event which is fantastic. Most everyone played a part in one or more of his feats of illusion and mind bending abilities. My partner and I woke up the next morning still attempting to figure out how he was able to do them. I highly recommend getting online and consider an evening here. And dress to impress. This is a fine dining experience.

It's a little cheesy, but it totally works. The lighting, ambiance, and overall vibe pull you in and make it fun. You can't help but enjoy it. Our two hosts were personable and professional. They served all the dishes and explained the rules for the evening. Once everyone finished eating, the magic show began. The food was super delicious and I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. The prime rib is absolutely the way to go. It was soooo good, and the sides were cooked and seasoned perfectly. They also offer chicken and pasta. I saw a few people order those, and they didn't look as appealing, but the prime rib definitely delivered. The cheesecake for dessert was amazing and perfect ending to the meal ! It's definitely on the pricier side, but the food and overall experience made it worth it. The magic show itself was a little "meh" ....not super mind-blowing, but the magician was kind and entertaining. He and the hosts made a special effort to wish my husband a happy birthday and even included him in part of the show, which made the night extra special. We loved the evening. I'm already planning to come back in October for their Halloween-themed dinner show!
