We have been here many times including buying out the place for private parties. Last night was amazing! John and the whole crew took such good care of our group. The service was friendly and the food was good. Then the magic... so impressive. For a little venue in Martinez the stage show was top notch. The sleight of hand close-up at the tables blew us away. Thank you for providing this venue and experience for all to enjoy.

My bf took me here for my bday and we had a magical time! It's a 3-hour event, which started at 7:30pm this past Friday. During the first two hours, about 6 different magicians walk around and perform close-up magic at each individual table, randomly rotating to keep it interesting, while guests enjoy a 3-course meal. The food and drinks were pretty good. The Genie Gimlet tasted like limeade, the Mystic Margarita was strong, the salad was fresh and served with a sweet hawaiian roll. The main course didn't come out till just before 9pm. It included both tri-tip beef and chicken breast, along with fruits and veggies, and the entire dish was tasty especially with the butter herb sauce that came on the side. The chocolate covered dessert items were yummy as well, of course I love chocolate covered strawberries, but this included a cherry, cream puff, and marshmallow too. Last call for drinks was around 9:15pm, Then the magic show on stage started at 9:30pm (the final hour of the event). We absolutely enjoyed magic and laughter with Will Francis and headliner Kerry Ross this past weekend. They showcased a number of acts including mentalism, sleight of hand, a fake guillotine stunt, and even the world's fastest magic trick, with members from the audience invited to participate both on and off stage during the performances. I knew the magic would impress, but I didn't realize how funny the magicians would be as well, including the owner of the venue. It's such an amazing dinner theater experience in a small but lovely setting decorated with magician photos and posters and magic-related artwork like Harry Potter quotes and illustrations. Entertaining comedy, mesmerizing illusions, not to mention a family friendly atmosphere also ideal for date night. I have nothing but good things to say about this place.

Oh my goodness. We had a fantastic evening at the California Magic Club. Such a unique experience having the entertainment come to your table! We were there for my son's 25th birthday. Felt the warmth the minute we walked through the door. Wonderful people, great entertainment and really good food. The cocktails were great too! Was the perfect family celebration experience. Thanks so much.

My husband and I were looking for something different to do for our anniversary date. He found this, and we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. It was such a fun experience. The place is small and intimate. Before the show, there are 3-4 magicians that come by table side to do a few magic tricks. It's not just one of them that come by, and that's it. They take turns coming to each table, so you get 3-4 table side shows. My husband and I were lucky enough to each a playing card that was used in the trick as souvenir. Then dinner starts. No entertainment during dinner, which was nice, so we can enjoy dinner. The food was good. It's a set menu. Everyone gets a small plate of dessert. Last call for drinks at the end of dinner before the show starts. There was an opening act, which was already fun to watch, then Dave Cox, the main act. He was an amazing mix of comedy and magic. There wasn't a moment all night where I felt bored. I was engaged the whole evening. This definitely met our goal of finding something different that was a lot of fun. This place deserves more than 5 stars!!!

Group of 15 rolled in for an anniversary party and had a blast. Opening act was more engaging than the headliner. Drink selection was strong. Dinner was good, not a Michelin but still worthy of a repeat visit. Overall, we had a very good time!

Booking was super easy and I thought they provided a lot of helpful details in the emails they sent, for example parking prices, a hint at what the game would be about, etc. I thought all of the actors did a fantastic job throughout the night. The fake participant at my table did a very convincing job at pretending they were a participant and only one very small thing had tipped me off prior to bigger hints that they weren't a real participant, but no spoilers! The show was adequately silly, interesting, and kept moving. Sometimes, random audience members would be called to participate, but it was all in good fun. I really hope the actors had as much fun as the audience. There was also a prize for the top sleuth, so write quickly! We also actually really enjoyed the food! My mom and I both ordered the fish - it was a very tasty roast salmon with vegetables. We heard from the others at our table that the chicken was pretty salty and some people couldn't finish it. The tiramisu was also a pretty huge chunk and delicious. Not too sweet. The dinner was at the beautiful Marker Hotel. We definitely enjoyed taking photos in the hotel before/after the game. Also they had clean bathrooms. For parking, while they do provide parking prices at the hotel, mom and I were able to score cheaper parking elsewhere by booking on ParkWhiz. Overall, I would highly recommend checking it out at least once if you're curious what a murder mystery dinner may be like. I thought the show, venue, and food combination was well worth the price we paid. I would definitely go back to another show.

The experience definitely did not disappoint. The theater essentially had three screens surrounding the audience: left, center, and right. However, we noticed that not all scenes actually used the full three screen setup. Only certain significant or impactful moments expanded across all three screens. That was a bit disappointing because we had hoped the format would be used throughout the entire movie. Overall, it was still a really cool experience. The tickets were pretty expensive, around $20 each. I also did not love the seating layout. The screens could get partially blocked when people in the rows in front of us stood up. I have been to plenty of other theaters where the rows are spaced better so that people in front do not affect your view at all. Another downside was the parking. The lot at the Veranda shopping center was really difficult to navigate and finding a spot was a pain. Still, despite those issues, it was a fun and unique experience. This is a first class dinner AND a first rate show for your evening. The seating is very limited and they book up quickly. The interior dining venue is elaborate and 'magical' in design and decor. Perfect for a magic show! Our hostesses were friendly, humorous and specific about how the evening would proceed. All of our fellow guests were super friendly, talkative and all of us had a great time and conversations throughout the night. The 5 course dinner (4 plus a palate cleanser) was excellent and a tremendous amount of food was served. Most people took home food for later. I was rather surprised as how large the portions were. And, it was all well prepared and very good. The entire room of diners were all quite impressed. Now, on to the show.... They served all the dishes and explained the rules for the evening. Once everyone finished eating, the magic show began. The food was super delicious and I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. The prime rib is absolutely the way to go. It was soooo good, and the sides were cooked and seasoned perfectly. They also offer chicken and pasta. I saw a few people order those, and they didn't look as appealing, but the prime rib definitely delivered. The cheesecake for dessert was amazing and perfect ending to the meal ! It's definitely on the pricier side, but the food and overall experience made it worth it. The magic show itself was a little "meh" ....not super mind-blowing, but the magician was kind and entertaining. He and the hosts made a special effort to wish my husband a happy birthday and even included him in part of the show, which made the night extra special. We loved the evening. I have been to things like this before but it hasn't been since 2004 and it was in San Diego. I enjoyed it so much I was hoping to find one local. My guy had never been to one, so I told him for my birthday I wanted him to buy us tickets for this. It was the "Gumshoe Murders" 1940's theme. Me and him dressed the closest we could to the era. When we got in there was a table for two for us, I liked how they set the tables for the amount in the group so we were not put at a table with strangers. Before the show started the actors came out and were in character right away, introducing themselves so you could get a feel for them, if you pay close enough attention you can see how they characters act with each other so you can have an idea of the connection they had. They served shrimp cocktail, not a big fan of seafood but I tried. My fiance loved it,, we figured drinks were not included since when we bought the tickets it didn't mention drinks. We just ordered soda for when the main meal came out. the actors spoke loud, and clear, and made us feel like we were part of the play. Between food and the play the actors would come to tables and chat with us and see if we had any clues to give them,, the main meal was really good, I got the steak, with the mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables, my fiance got chicken, it was so much chicken!! We both loved the food. The servers were so fast and did a great job. At the end when we had to guess who killed who, we did a pretty good job and got 3rd place and was given a dollar tree police badge, maybe stupid or dorky to others but I love having mementos of events and fun times I've had, so I was happy enough. In all we had a great time, yes it was expensive but you have to remember the $68 dollars is for a three course meal and for the play, and the tip is (I am guessing) split between the servers and actors. Or at least that's how they did it in San Diego. It's not something that can be easily afforded all the time but for special occasions it was worth it.

We all made reservations ahead of time for a set price menu with 4 options for the main course including the dinner show. $68 felt a little steep, but it was a special occasion and a good group of people so we went for it. It is located at a golf course and the room we were welcomed into looked more like a community center/retirement home room rather than a theater. There are no menus or drink lists with prices. In case you assume drinks are included, they are NOT. Our table all had non alcoholic drinks ranging from 1.75 to $5 each and the wait staff keep asking if you'd like a refill. Somehow my two virgin drinks cost over $10 which if I knew ahead of time I wouldn't mind, but didn't find out until the very end when the bill came. The food was just ok, dry roll, good beet salad (if you like beets), cold meat (cooked med rare), pretty good mashed potatoes, basic steamed veg, dry crusty brownie with half scoop of generic ice cream and hersheys syrup. About half the acting was similar to what you would expect at a community center with one or two highlight roles, the other half couldn't remember which accent they were supposed to stay in. I was looking forward to some kind of plot twist, but when we discovered the killer and the clues, it still didn't quite line up of make sense. I still enjoyed my night and had a good time and some laughs with friends, but for the $190 bill we left with for 2 people (drinks, tax, included gratuity), we won't be going back any time soon.

It started with the barbacoa chilaquiles. When I saw that that the chilaquiles in the menu had habaneros on it, I knew I had found my place. I often cook at home with ghost and scorpion peppers, which are not traditionally found in restaurants, but they've done some pretty amazing improvisation when I've asked to make it work. One time, I recall getting the chilaquiles and asking for extra habaneros and asking if their chef had a secret hot sauce that was stronger than "white people spicy." Miriam brought me a little ramekin of a pepper sauce puree that the chef prepared - and it was EPIC. I don't ask for that every time, but you know whoever was on the line took the request seriously and actually had some fun making my mouth burn. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of their willingness to "play" in the kitchen. Today, I went for breakfast and ordered the Carne En Su Jugo for my first time. Not just here - first time ever eating it anywhere. I had totally forgotten to ask them to make it spicy! I asked Miriam if there was anything they could do to spice it up. She assured me they could. Then I received it. And I tasted it. And it was cathartic. The chefs prepared a PERFECTLY spicy stew, and I downed that whole thing in 7 minutes. It was delicious, put some sweat on my brow, and left me feeling more than satisfied with my meal. I love this place! Miriam is always great every time I've been there. I will continue supporting this business as long as they keep doing business. Please give me compliments to the chefs again. Their creativity keeps me coming back for spicy treats!

Let me start by saying they have the right idea & the potential to be a star in the brunch game…read more The good things: The menu, so many delicious sounding items. Bonus points for having fun seasonal choices. The kids menu has good options but it is kinda pricey for being the kids menu. Bonus points because they use handmade tortillas for the kids taco. They also offer unique things like a breakfast molcajete and a mini birria pambazo. We didn't try those but it sounded intriguing. Also so many drink choices if you're looking for a michelada or mimosa. Cute vibes inside & love the plates and ceramics they use. It is small though so wouldn't really accommodate a large group easily, especially if it's busy. There is parking but even though it wasn't busy it was hard to find a spot. All that said, it was a very mid experience. The meat for the kids birria and the chilaquiles was more on the dry side. Same for the rice. The Grinch milkshake was good and cute. The tamarindo mimosa was good after we asked for extra tamarindo. Initially it was very heavy on the champagne. The country potatoes were yummy. The gingerbread pancakes were also dry & didn't taste like gingerbread. Also was sad that they were out of the advertised Holiday drinks: chocolate abuelita and atole de mazapán. I ordered the hot chocolate in its place but even though it looked cute, it tasted watery. I came here specifically for the Holiday items so that's why I was so disappointed with that. Service was okay. Our server was friendly when we interacted with her but it was very limited. Pretty much when she took our order & then when I flagged her down to return my pancakes & hot chocolate. She was very understanding though about that so I appreciated that. Overall, if they made adjustments to their flavor & quality it could be really good. From this visit I would say their Mexican food is better than their American food. I'd try again in the future, just not any time soon.
