The magicians weren't just talented, they were super engaging, interactive, and attentive to everyone around them. It's rare to find something that's just as entertaining for adults as it is for kids, but they nailed it perfectly. The table-side magic was unreal. Watching tricks happen right in front of you makes you question everything--in the best way possible. The staff were fantastic, and the service was smooth and welcoming the entire time. This place is awesome. Smaller venue so there's a lot of interaction with everyone. Very friendly, family oriented. Everybody has got a great attitude. You just feel welcomed and at home when you're there. My family and I laughed so hard and for so long our cheeks and stomachs hurt. My bf took me here for my bday and we had a magical time! It's a 3-hour event, which started at 7:30pm this past Friday. During the first two hours, about 6 different magicians walk around and perform close-up magic at each individual table, randomly rotating to keep it interesting, while guests enjoy a 3-course meal. The food and drinks were pretty good. The Genie Gimlet tasted like limeade, the Mystic Margarita was strong, the salad was fresh and served with a sweet hawaiian roll. The main course didn't come out till just before 9pm. It included both tri-tip beef and chicken breast, along with fruits and veggies, and the entire dish was tasty especially with the butter herb sauce that came on the side. The chocolate covered dessert items were yummy as well, of course I love chocolate covered strawberries, but this included a cherry, cream puff, and marshmallow too. Last call for drinks was around 9:15pm, Then the magic show on stage started at 9:30pm (the final hour of the event). We absolutely enjoyed magic and laughter with Will Francis and headliner Kerry Ross this past weekend. They showcased a number of acts including mentalism, sleight of hand, a fake guillotine stunt, and even the world's fastest magic trick, with members from the audience invited to participate both on and off stage during the performances. I knew the magic would impress, but I didn't realize how funny the magicians would be as well, including the owner of the venue. It's such an amazing dinner theater experience in a small but lovely setting decorated with magician photos and posters and magic-related artwork like Harry Potter quotes and illustrations. Entertaining comedy, mesmerizing illusions, not to mention a family friendly atmosphere also ideal for date night. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. read more

This is a little gem in Martinez. It's a very cozy room. The magicians are a delight and most are very good. They do close up magic at your table before the main show. It's a 5 for the actual magic part. But a 3 for the food. It's serviceable but oh so salty. It's just not great. Dinner is included with the price of the ticket so you get a dinner and a show! I wish they had an option without a dinner on Friday/saturday. read more

My husband and I were looking for something different to do for our anniversary date. He found this, and we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. It was such a fun experience. The place is small and intimate. Before the show, there are 3-4 magicians that come by table side to do a few magic tricks. It's not just one of them that come by, and that's it. They take turns coming to each table, so you get 3-4 table side shows. My husband and I were lucky enough to each a playing card that was used in the trick as souvenir. Then dinner starts. No entertainment during dinner, which was nice, so we can enjoy dinner. The food was good. It's a set menu. Everyone gets a small plate of dessert. Last call for drinks at the end of dinner before the show starts. There was an opening act, which was already fun to watch, then Dave Cox, the main act. He was an amazing mix of comedy and magic. There wasn't a moment all night where I felt bored. I was engaged the whole evening. This definitely met our goal of finding something different that was a lot of fun. You're seated around 7:30pm, drinks, a little snack bowl, dinner - all while several magicians walk table to table to provide entertainment. The service and hospitality is amazing! However, be prepared to be sitting a VERY long time at a tiny table and cramped. Food is ok but you eat at 9pm. Total magic show was 45 min. It was a good experience but I don't think we'll be back and I feel terrible saying that. read more

What a wonderful time! My wife and I took five visiting friends to the California Magic Club (aka California Magice Dinner Theatre) tonight. We all loved it. This as the third time I've been there. It just keeps getting better. There are so many things to praise about this place. I hope I do them justice. For starters, of course, there's the magic. It begins soon after you're seated, as magicians go from table to table performing great card and other tricks. They first visit is before your salad, then again between the salad and delicious main course: generous helpings of both tri-tip and chicken, complemented by nicely seasoned rice and string beans. (There's also a veggie option you can order in advance). Then yet more magice before a tasty dessert. Service is also very friendly and efficient, and the drinks are generous pours, whether you're having wine, martinis or whatver. The main show itself is a gas. It's introduced by the owner/manager/magician, Gerry Griffin, a charming tuxedoed fellow who's opening act is both very funny and very magical. Then there's the featured performer - on our visit tonight, the charming, very talented and equally funny Shawn McMaster. While the magic is of course the star of the show, lots of the magicians are quite humorous also - Gerry and Shawn certainly are. That's a bonus feature of the place. Beyond that, an intimate but not crowded room with great ambience and not a bad seat in the house. It's not dirt cheap. But when you consider you're getting a hearty, tasty three-course meal plus three hours of wonderful entertainment, it's a bargain. So check it out! And buy your tickets well in advance, since the place usually sells out well before the shows. You won't regret it. read more

I had such an amazing night coming here with my fiancé just for date night/belated Valentines Day outing. I honestly had a blast! I laughed so hard, my mind was blown so many times, and the food was delicious. I love the sentiment of the entirety of this place and they truly made it feel... honestly - magical! You definitely HAVE to come here and bring your friends and family because all of it is so worth it! Food - They offer a salad appetizer with bread, the entree is beef/chicken with rice with an amazing sauce. Then for dessert - chocolate covered treats! I ordered a martini to drink, but also got coffee towards the end with dessert. It was honestly all so satisfying and delicious! Service - So before you eat, the magicians come around your table to do close-up magic! They rotate around and come by in between the courses and I was so impressed and amazed with all of it. The doors don't open until 7:30 p.m. I was super excited to be here for a belated birthday gift with my two favorite people! They've seen my reactions to magic and great foods, but never at the same time! It's a supper club. An intimate setting with the walls covered with memorabilia of many great magicians! We sat at our table for three while others were in larger groups, plus a couple sat together at their own tables. 40 people maximum for this rich experience and all seats are perfect for eating dinner and watching magic tricks! The night was so fun! The magic tricks start fairly quickly after being seated and ordering drinks and specifying the type of salad dressing you prefer. Each table get a different magic trick performed by any one of 4 different masters of magic. Then, dinner starts to roll out one course at a time. There was also bread. We were then served the main course of tender slices of tri tip, a chicken breast, really well seasoned green beans and enough of the delicious rice. Keep in mind that as we eat, we are being blown away by magic tricks being performed very up close and personal! Did you see that??? We were amazed!!! These guys were great! The headliner was a journeyman magician and his mastery of tricks was on full display as he amazed everyone in the room! We've got to get back there again, without fail. A group of 10 of us went to see the show for my birthday. Honestly, not one of the 10 people are let's say into magic. Couple of them actually had plans on seeing what they could disprove. Was absolutely so fun for all the attended a very unique set up in the way that they seat you feed you and entertain you. I cannot more highly recommend trying this even if you're certain you're not gonna enjoy it I promise you you will. Food was good service was fantastic entertainment during all aspects of the dinner and show were amazing. Go with a group you will have an absolute blast. I went last night for my birthday and it was fun! Small venue and lots of character. I've never been to a magic show and can't say i'm now hooked, but I'm not sure that's what it's really about. The performers were generally comedians. There were some obvious puns and self-effacing jokes, but the overwhelming majority was deeply clever and polished. And I'm aware it's easy to judge when you're not the one on the spot. The youngest man performing was my favorite for reasons difficult to put in words. Quietly charming is the best I can do. Overall, I felt like I was invited -for a small fee- to a family's house for a holiday party filled with open-hearted, talented members that were honored you came. I'm a bit stuck on the Yelp rating of cost. It was $100 per person which is not nothing, but about the same as an extra-nice dinner date. I woke up this morning at ease, recharged and thinking about how I can model the kindness I witnessed to others....which is a bargain at any price. read more
