I came here recently with my husband to try their "dine in cinema" experience and was not disappointed. Located in a bustling plaza, Pruneyard Cinemas isn't a big cinema like those chain places, but it's clean and gets the job done. Parking is all around the plaza and free. There's a small concessions stand near the front that you can order your food and drinks at or you can do so with the QR code at your seat and the workers will bring it to you. The seats are plush and able to lay down so that's always nice. The dine in cinema experience was enjoyable - the workers deliver the food to you in a quiet manner and doesn't really disrupt the movie too much which was appreciated. It's a bit pricey, but I felt like the experience was worth it. read more

A culinary movie experience! I have never done one of these before. I wanted to give it a try. It was such an amazing experience. If you ever book one of these make sure to book fast as popular movies do tend to fill up fast. The only downside is side about booking so far ahead is that you don't know what the menu is until it's a week before the showing. If you wait until then there is a good chance seats will book up. The Movie: Princess Mononoke A great spectacular movie! A Hayo Miyazaki studio Ghibli movie that explores a conflict between humanity and nature of cursed prince. I highly recommend watching. The meal: A set menu that is inspired by the film. The chef of our meal was from the Downtown San Jose restaurant called EOS & NYX. I honestly thought everything was delicious and really complimented the film. I believe the chef is different for each movie and so is the menu. You will never know what you will get based on film. Location is fab and central to anything and everything you need. Plenty of parking too in the morning! I went on a weekday to watch a matinée movie. I was the only one in the theatre. Snacks arrived about as quickly as they were ordered and the server brought an adequate amount of napkins (very important in a dark theatre where you can't see where you're spilling!!). All staff I encountered were warm and pleasant. Bathrooms were clean. And although the place was all carpet, it didn't have that awful movie theatre carpet smell. Much more enjoyable and a better bang for your buck imo compared to the big brand name theatre near me. read more

I am beyond thrilled Pruneyard Cinemas is sticking around! It was heartbreaking when we thought we were going to lose them - but now its time for us to do our part and SHOW UP! We went to a 4:00 movie - GOAT - it was fantastic. A lot of self-serve options now from scanning your own QR code to get your tickets to ordering from your seat. The nice thing - you get both the restaurant and the concession stand. We received our order quickly and while you would expect outrageous service fees, they weren't and you can tip accordingly, which I also find fantastic. I feel like working at a concession stand is a thankless job with no opportunity to show your appreciation. With the ease of ordering and app, that is now an option. We ordered some fries and then our movie candy - fries = DELICIOUS, they came out steaming hot too, so well done to the team! Yes movies are more expensive than 10 years ago, but I kind of feel thats to be expected and we had a lovely evening as a family and love the seating, it was clean, staff was courteous and we will be back in April for MARIO! read more

Nothing really different from other theaters besides, having food being served directly to your seat and semi comfortable chairs. It was a little messy in the front area with popcorn. We had to pay in the front of the concession stand with our credit card since the QR code didn't work for us. I got a Caesar chicken salad, and it was quite hard to eat in the dark. The sauce was good and the portion was HUGE! I would have preferred the chicken tenders and fries, but that was not an option that day. Always our go-to theater. The staff is always so nice. The facilities are always clean and up to par compared to other theaters in the area. They have complimentary water from a dispenser, which is nice. We loooove coming during dinner so we can make it a movie/dinner date night. We wanted to switch it up this time and got a hot dog and gp fries + a Caesar salad w/grilled chicken and a side of gp fries. Also can't watch a love w/o buttery popcorn and an icee! Went here for the first time because they had a more convenient movie time slot compared to the other theaters. This is such a local gem and a really pretty theater. I love the aesthetic and their lovely staff. You can order food from your phone and they'll bring it within 10-15 minutes which is a relief because Alamo takes a extremely long time. I just found out they might be closing soon which is extremely unfortunate because of how it's basically a piece of history. This theater has been here FOREVER! I have been a customer through the years. It has been years since I've been in but recently came in to see Peaky Blinders. To starrt it is a nice clean theater and staff are nice. However, the popcorn is not good and the topping they put on it left my stomach seriously unhappy. Didn't even taste like the fake butter at other theaters I bought a medium and barely touched it. The chairs are recliners w/o heat. The sound was also off. It was very tinny sounding. Went and saw a movie here today around 11:15am and was surprised that the popcorn was cold and wasn't fresh. When they first opened years ago they had the best popcorn with real butter topping. The owners have changed and it's very noticeable that the quality of the food just isn't there. Now, they only have "butter flavored" topping. The menu for the food and cocktails isn't as good as it used to be either and very overpriced for low quality items. The seats were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. We came to see a movie here for the first time in a couple of years. It was a fun movie and we had a plan, drinks in the Cedar Room before the show, and popcorn and Chardonnay during the movie. The reality: We walk into the Cedar room 35 minutes before showtime, to find 2 people in line for drinks -- all good -- nope! 25 minutes later we get our two drinks, having watched the bar make 4 drinks before us! And there were at least 2 bartenders working. I timed our drinks and it took 20 minutes to make 2 drinks for us. And no running to the back for ingredients or anything. It was pure lack of urgency, more interest to talking to each other, etc. Anyway, it will be better in the movie -- Nope! Thank god we bought our own popcorn. Because we sat down before the movie started and immediately hit our buttons to order drinks. We never got anyone's attention, so no wine for us. And we were in a good mood to buy some drinks. Luckily, we picked up some complimentary water. Might I suggest that the Pruneyard Cinemas try getting drinks on people's hands. Trust me, you WILL make more money by if you serve people rather than ignore them. I came here for the first time for a matinee showing. The theatre was empty which was great, easy, and quick service. The place was clean, it smelled too clean (chemical smelling not air freshener). Made me wonder if there is something they are trying to fix or mask. The tickets were very expensive for it to be matinee, I'd rather go to a Cinemark to get the same service for less. The food was expensive. I only had a beer and some chicken wings. The wings were so hard, I hurt my jaw trying to bite one. I had hoped for it to come with some side of celery sticks. Nope. I got one sad tiny celery stick. Disappointing. The service on the other hand is great. They were friendly, accommodating, and quick. Too bad everything else isn't up to standard. I was able to order scanning a QR code. ADVICE: Scan it before it gets dark because after it's so hard to scan. I battled scanning it for a bit because I didn't scan it before the lights went off. This is a treasure in Campbell; please don't let it die!! They have matinee all day Tuesdays for $9, which makes them competitive with amc's 50% off Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And you don't even need to be a stubs member to qualify! Their auditoriums are clean and well maintained. You can order at the concession stand or from your seat using a QR code. Be warned that they do charge 20% gratuity if you choose the latter, which is standard for dine in theaters. Best of all, you can buy drinks from the bar next door and bring them into the theater. They have a full bar and plenty of fun themed cocktails that rotate based on the movies they're showing. Plus they do culinary cinema nights that are a three course meal designed around a particular movie (silence of the lambs, James Bond, etc). One of these days I'll shell out the $75! read more

An absolute local gem! This was the first movie theater I ever went to as a three year old in the early 70's having accidentally walked into a screening of JAWS (which is a story for another time). Now that I have a teenager, our family loves to come once a month for a movie and order dinner from the Cedar Room. The pandemic kept us away from going to see movies in person for a few years, but the Pruneyard Cinemas brought us back. My husband and I have even gone to go for the comedy nights. SO FUN! We LOVE the comfy chairs, the food that is available from the partnered restaurant, and the PEOPLE who work there are amazing! They are engaging, invested, and creative! The sets that are always there for photo ops are fun and help retain the small town feel that Campbell is trying desperately to hold onto. I actually really like this movie theater. In terms of location it's great because it's in the Pruneyard where there's a bunch of restaurants either sit down or fast casual like Mendocino or the burger spot. The crappy part is parking. It feels like for the amount of stores and relative customer demand there isn't enough parking spots. The theater is facing the 17 freeway so depending on where you enter, I'd park in the "back" near Orchard city kitchen for the theater entrance. So you can buy tickets online in advance and reserve your seats or you can of course buy in person when you walk up at a computer kiosk. I've seen a handful of movies here so far and for the most part, they've never been packed, but even if they are, the theater seat seats are the on the newer end spacious recliners. And compared to other theaters that have these these recliners actually go back the farthest where you're almost lying completely flat.! it is also one of the theaters where you can order food to your seat. There's a little barcode taped to the side table tray. There's actually a decent amount of options in terms of food beyond just your typical popcorn and candy. read more

1 star because of their billing for food in the theater. They add a 10% hidden "dine-in" fee to all orders which is not optional. It's not a tip, that's also recommended separately. The pre-movie screens do mention it briefly if you arrive early but they are out of date and show it as 7.5%, clearly indicating they've been raising this fee. I expect higher costs for food in a theater and am fine to pay them, but just include them in the price for the food rather than hiding them at checkout. You'd have a 5-star review from me in that case. read more
