    49th VRL 2018 JLSJ Giving Back

    Went to the annual San Jose Volunteer Recognition event hosted by the Junior League of San Jose at Villa Ragusa. The reception checkin was in a spacious hall in front of the very well laid out event room. The tables were formally presented and inviting, and the chicken cobb salad lunch entree and red velvet cake dessert were the perfect lunch for this awesome recognition of volunteers making a huge difference in the SJ community, for children and adults, foster or homeless or in medical need. The food service before, during, and after the lunch was impeccable. Coffee was in carafes on each table and decaf was available on request. The no host bar service was excellent. The ceiling height appeared to present some limitation on the size of the projection screens on the sides of the stage and for the production spot lighting (big distraction from the low ceiling spots and the frustrating absence of a highlighting spot) on the stage, but this was hardly noticeable. Parking is either on-street or in one of the many public parking lots, all of which are within 2-3 blocks of Villa Ragusa. On the event itself: on time starting and ending, good paced, and great video production of the finalist volunteers. The well disguised tissue packages on each table was a good hint of what to expect in the very emotional heart warming video interviews of volunteers giving and paying it forward to the community. All volunteers, the nominated, the finalists, the winning finalist, and those even not mentioned all make a difference, and this event was an awesome reminder of the amazing people giving their time and commitment to others. Overall, a classy venue for a classy event!

    We had our wedding reception at Villa Ragusa in September, rescheduled from November of 2020. Firstly, Laura and the VR team worked very closely with us during the covid rescheduling period. We actually had to move our date twice and they were super accommodating and flexible. It was worth the wait and our reception was the best party ever! The food, the bar, the coordination and planning were all top notch. Not to mention the value, we looked at many venues and this was the best value for the package by far. Laura made our day so special, and worked tirelessly with us when changes came about. She was a quick communicator and very flexible. We felt cared for and like a priority. Would recommend this venue in a heartbeat to anyone out there looking to host a party type event! Many Thank you's again Laura!!!

    WOW! Located in the heart of downtown campbell. Large venue space. High ceilings. Lots of space. Private parking. Long Balcony. Kitchen and catering. Price is stiff but affordable and worth the money. U gotta see it to get the true feel.

    (Photo below). Sumptuous banquet fare at Villa Ragusa. Just attended second local school district retirement dinner at Villa Ragusa. District must get an awfully good rate as the meals here are definitely not worth coming back for. Banquet facility is very understaffed -- it took nearly 40 minutes to get served a meal that was definitely not worth waiting for -- cold, minuscule portion of dry, overcooked beef.

    Just hosted our holiday party here and I couldn't have been happier with the turnout. Thanks to Laura and her wonderful staff who made this a wonderful night. Everything came out perfect!

    I am STILL daydreaming of my wedding from a month ago! Villa Ragusa was our venue from beginning to end, ceremony to reception. We can't rave enough about Hilary! She is attentive, excellent in all she does, detailed oriented, and really helped make our day so special! Never missed a beat! Villa Ragusa has very reasonable rates. We had a guestlist of about 200. They all mentioned how elegant our venue was and how delicious the food was too! I would definitely recommend Villa Ragusa to my engaged friends. They are so easy to work with. :) And if you can, you should hire Hilary to be your day-of coordinator! You won't regret it!

    We had our Reception at Villa Ragusa in July. VR is a massive and beautiful banquet hall that fits up to 600 people and was our top choice when choosing Reception venues. VR is very reasonably priced with one of the best alcohol packages!! We had the pleasure to work with Hilary throughout our planning process. We cannot express in words how amazing Hilary is. From day one, she was truly involved, answered every single one of our hundreds of questions (even if we re-asked the same questions), and made sure that our special day would turn out truly special. She was very easy to work with, always available, very responsive, and very accommodating when scheduling appointments to go see the venue. She helped us with everything from the small details to the big stuff. She put together a floor plan that best fit our needs/wants and even provided genuine advice from her years of organizing events. Laura another great coordinator was the one present on the day of our reception and she made sure everything ran by smoothly. Other bonuses: VR has a kitchen that is perfect for food vendors to use, they build a dance floor to fit your size needs, have a wide selection for table cloth and chair sashes to choose from and to top it of there is also ample of free/safe parking in the area making it convenient for guests. Overall, we're very happy with choosing Villa Ragusa as our Reception venue. We would definitely recommend this venue to anyone.

The lighting was incredible for a day time baby shower and because they have so many cute plants set up, there wasn't too much that needed to be done as far as decorating goes. All of my guests thought the venue was absolutely adorable. I can't recommend this place enough. It was super affordable had enough parking for all 30 of my guests and clean! I wish I could give this venue 10/5 stars.

There were plenty of toys to go around that the kids were not trying to take things from one another. With that being said, even in its current state it's still worthwhile coming if you have small children!

I went in knowing I wanted a plant for my little storage closet of an office but know nothing of plants and it doesn't have windows. Not only did she give me some suggestions, she brought me over to the plants, explained exactly how to take care of it and told me I could always come back with any questions. Instead I came away with so much more. Especially discovering that it is a #PinayOwned small business. A quaint and cosy boutique shop right next to the VTA light rail track in Campbell. I missed the window label that proudly announced it was a small, Filipina woman owned business. A shirt with Filipino words alerted me that this was a special store fostering my cultural pride. Meeting the owner, Charlene, confirmed my discovery that she started this business 3 years ago. The shop's wall adorn by handmade paintings & a mural that conveys Charlene's spirit of her shop. While small, it was captivatingly fun to explore every nook and cranny. She even showcases and supports other women entrepreneurs. I was immediately drawn to the ZZ plants. She helped me understand the symbolism of them which inspired me to buy 2 smaller ones to help a loved one through her grief and for me to inspire my continued 2025 manifestation journey. At home, I discovered a very personal message of gratitude with a picture of one of the original artwork and an affirmation card. Knowing her origination story and impact of the store, inspires me to put Charlene's store on my short list of places to find unique, soul-filled gifts. Yes, I can go to a garden or box store to find more affordable and variety of options. I am willing to pay a slight premium knowing the Campbell overhead, each product was especially curated, and to support a fellow Pinay with her soul purpose driven small business.
