Chix Chicken Salad Sandwich
Meri K.

I like their chicken salad sandwich . Roomy pub has outdoor sidewalk seating too, which is nice in this quiet tree lined neighborhood. Nice big windows make it open and appealing. I would go here for lunch when I worked in the neighborhood. I always got the chicken salad sandwich, add swiss. The fries are bangin, shoestring. Always hot and fresh. Service is quick and friendly.

Lovely place! Great drinks and a cute little backyard. The servers are incredibly nice and its pretty packed on a Thursday. I recommend the Spiked Lemonade, truly a delicious and refreshing drink for a summer night. We ordered the steak bits, which was fine. A little too much pepper on the steak + maybe some sauce would've been nice, but still a good time! Hope to come back for another trivia night, which was what drew us to this place.

Avocado toast with poached eggs

Met up here for Saturday brunch to sit curbside (for pupper purposes) and hang out with my core group. New Yorkers have been brunching since before it was cool and the Skillman understands that. We don't always need a view with our meal, but we do need a darn good meal, and I was a very happy camper with the avocado toast - poached egg and all. The Skillman is a play on the street name but also a nod of the skill it takes to craft a good meal. And there were no bones about it, you'll be happy with whatever you find here. I don't normally order poached eggs but I do enjoy a poached egg for sure. I'm just learning how to perfect them at home, so why not order it and remind myself how it's supposed to be done. I think mine was a teensy bit overcooked, but it's still miles better than the first time I poached an egg. I ordered the mimosa with my meal- there's no bottomless option here. Another issue was the table. Our waiter insisted it was rocking because of the uneven side walk, but, the sidewalk was even where we were sitting. My friend and I had to be careful because one uncalculated move and breakfast would have easily been on either of our laps.

Traditional Eggs Benedict

I came here for breakfast with my friend. We didn't plan to go here, but the one we wanted to go to open in the afternoon. We refused to wait and decided to pursue our hunger game! I ordered French Toast, and my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict. I enjoyed my French Toast that was served with some fruit. I also had it with two eggs Sunnyside up. They make French Toast the correct way by using fresh bread. Then they sprinkled the toast with fine sugar. Fantastic breakfast! I will come back for another round. My friend liked the egg benedict here too!

Montefiore's (Weiler campus) operating room & now critical care team would like to thank you and the rest of your staff for the generous food donation. Everything provided was delicious and we appreciate it very much. Many thanks again! #RestaurantsSupportFrontliners2020 #FoodFuelToFightCovid19

Bloody Mary

I haven't even gotten my food yet but this review is solely for the Bloody Mary. I usually refrain from getting a Bloody Mary at brunches because they are lackadaisical and watered down. This thing is a meal, and truly thought for. Peppery and with a lovely horseradish dab. I can't wait for my food to come.

Halloween brunch at The Skillman was fantastic! It was great to enjoy this beautiful day with great coffee and delicious Eggs Benedict & Omelet. Everyone's as dressed up they were giving away little treat boxes for the kids who were dining and candies for r everyone trick or treating in the neighborhood. Fabulous Halloween Brunch!

Service was good, friendly staff! But everything was mediocre, nothing impressive. The best part of the food was the fries & the beer. We got wings & a burger. We wanted the burger medium done but it was more towards well. We wouldn't go back unless we have to, this place wouldn't be our first pick.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken Burrito

Great outside atmosphere! Jerk chicken wrap was yummy as were the fries! My only suggestion would be adding a kids menu so it's more family-friendly.

The Skillman. Croissant with prosciutto eggs and cheese. And a side of arugula salad.

We came for a late brunch on Easter Sunday. It wasn't crowded as there was plenty of indoor and a few out door seats. I had the skillman sandwich was buttery and hit the spot. Their shoe string fries are also addicting. The prices are okay. But the service was terrible. Our waitress kept forgetting to bring little things like extra ketchup and was slow or forgetful on getting us our drinks. She also almost gave my bfs fries to the wrong table. All in all food was good, and I would like to come back to try some dishes from their regular menu.

I saw her greet and hug multiple regulars like old friends -- it's clear she knows everyone and they adore her. She's only behind the bar Monday through Friday, so make sure you stop by when she's there! And I'm sure the weekends are great too! Actual neighborhood pubs are few and far between in Long Island City, especially around Hunters Point, so this place is a breath of fresh air. PJ's has been around for a while and it shows -- it's well-established, locally owned, and run by someone who truly knows what makes a great bar. The menu is massive and everything is priced like happy hour all the time -- no need for one because it's already that affordable. (Sadly I did not get any photos of my food because I engulfed them immediately!) The French onion soup is one of the best I've ever had, and the fish and chips are excellent. Regulars rave about the shepherd's pie, turkey dinners (and the fresh turkey and turkey sandwich -- real turkey, not deli slices!), and wings, so those are next on my list. They also run great daily specials: * Prime rib with potato and vegetable for just $27 (Sun-Thurs) * Burger and a beer for $12 (Mon-Wed) * Irish specials on Tuesdays ($13.95 for shepherd's pie, corned beef and cabbage, or fish and chips) It's right off the 7 train at Vernon Blvd-Jackson Ave -- super convenient for a quick drink or bite before heading home, or to stay for the day. Come to PJ's -- you won't be disappointed! PS the music is soooo good and perfect volume on with Bridget's playlist.

I cannot believe I lived in this area this long and never had their brunch! Shame on me!!!!! When…read morewe walked in on a saturday at around 1:30pm it was pretty packed. There was seating in the front in the corner. I was very happy about this because its snowing outside and I love watching the snow fall. They have $11 Bellini with $5 refills which isn't so bad. I ordered the Fluffy omelet with veggies. I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into the goat cheese. Cheese is always a win in my book!!! The eggs were made well there was NO shell thank kittens! There was also a garden salad with toast! I love that we get our own butter to put on the toast, some places put too much butter. $17 for my food in case that is important to anyone. :::BATHROOM ALERT::: LOVE that it is unisex. Its very roomy! There is a nice wooden changing tables for the mommas and the papa. The bathroom is kept clean which is always a green flag! You treat the bathroom good usually the food is good. Good amount of soap and toliet paper! Very happy about this! The service was good for how packed it was, I appreciate the wait staff! I love that there was a little cherry at the bottom of my Bellini. They have whatever game playing and music at the same time. I wasn't watching the American soccer game just enjoying the vibes and the music. The menu is a QR code, no paper menus lets go!! They have a lot of draft beers here that you can check out in other yelpers posts. The non alcoholic section of booze is very cool, everyone is included. This place is also kid friendly. This place isn't for you if you're impatient to get drunk! The decor is a wood feel like you're upstate in a cabin. Very cozy! I love the steam punk looking lights! Very rustic feel to the corner spot that we were sitting in. I didnt catch their wifi password but I'm sure if you ask they will give you the password. There is outlets under the bar to charge your phone. Also in the front where we were there was an outlet in the other corner. While they don't take reservations I could see myself coming back with a group to sit in the corner. I wonder what their Friday nights are like. I don't recommend takeout, come to their location and enjoy the food fresh.

The spice box was really tasty! The curry sauce was realllll addictive and the spicy/salty/smokey sweet balance hit perfectly. It's a bit oily and the chicken was slightly dry, but the flavor more than made up for it. If you close your eyes and drink enough of their beers on draft, you could probably convince yourself you're in Dublin after a night out. The ambiance was solid with a cozy indoor setup and small outdoor section. I can only speak for the ~5:30pm ambiance, but the night vibe here was apparently good enough that my friend's friend got a girl's number here. Service was chill and friendly. Price-wise, $23 for chicken and fries felt steep, but the very reasonable happy hour beer pricing balanced the scales. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a classic Irish pub in LIC or if TikTok convinced you to hunt down a spice bag.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 8 Overall: 8 Four of us came here because I heard their fish and chips are very good. I am a sucker for this famous British/Irish deep fried goodness. Well, I can say without a doubt that this version is excellent (8.5/10) as described. The dish comes with three pieces that are crispy and tender. However, they gotta make a better tartar sauce than the ones they served in packets. Also, we switched out chips for onion rings. They were fantastic! I also really enjoyed their French Onion Soup (8/10) and the Shepherds Pie (7.5/10). The soup was flavorful without being too salty like most restaurants, while the pie had relatively fluffy mash potato with tasty ground beef mixture. The only item that was a slight letdown was the Chicken Pot Pie (6/10). The puff pastry was decent and so was the cream sauce. The problem was the overcooked and dry chicken breast meat. Our server was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. Btw, even though the space was basically a dive bar, the energetic 60's and 70's music was definitely a plus. Therefore, I gave it a slightly higher score for decor. All in all, this was a great experience.

And that is why I boycotted them. Everything was very lax at that time, with little enforcement from the SLA. In October, my partner and I headed back to try their Irish breakfast and to see how things had improved. At the time, a large party was being held in their backroom, and we were not prepared to wait forever. We asked to speak with the owner, Mike Peacock, and told him we had to be at church to ring the church bells. We appreciated his dedication to getting us our food on time, but to be really honest, the Irish breakfast was not the best that could have been made.
