The crew replaced our skylight along with the extensive rotted roof sheathing around it. While they were on the roof, they sealed a vent pipe and a second skylight--all at no additional charge because, as they told us, they just wanted to make sure our roof was protected. We had one day with sunshine recently and had a snow storm coming the next day so when he called and said he could do it that day I was thrilled. At 800am (as advised) two trucks showed up and I had 8 people on my roof scraping away the old. In at 800am, out by 500pm. They scraped, replaced the skylights, and re-roofed, then cleaned up. Outstanding work. All of the workers were great. I had questions during the work and someone was always available to answer them. None of them seemed to rush, it was get it done, and get it done right. We've had two snowstorms and a lot of rain and not one drop in the house. I can finally start sleeping better! Towards the end of last year, I had several companies come out and quote for a full roof…read morereplacement. Golden Group gave me the best feeling about the job from the initial discussion. Where other contractors canceled appointments, arrived late, or were just no-shows - Mikel (out of their Hudson office) arrived on time and did a thorough assessment of the roof including taking drone footage. He sat with me and walked me through the whole process clearly, explaining all my choices in materials and didn't push any product or add-on. I did receive marginally cheaper quotes, but they did not leave me feeling like my home was in good hands in the same way that Mikel did, and I felt the extra money was likely to be worth it. Once I decided to go ahead with them, again, everything was done very professionally. I was kept informed of times and everybody showed up exactly when they said they would. I made a small change to the scope of the work in replacing additional plywood sections of the roof, and these were easily accommodated on short notice. On the day of the work, the crew showed up on time and Jurgan (the site foreman) kept everything moving with minimal disruption to us. I was working from home, and my wife and kids were in and out of the house for school and errands. Despite replacing the entire roof of the main building and two additions over approximately 9 hours, there was minimal disruption to our days. The house was protected during the work, and even with snow still on the ground, their cleanup crew constantly walked the property picking up and disposing of any debris, nails, old material etc. Ultimately the roof was replaced successfully and looks good. Every step of the job was explained to me, every question answered, and every decision explained. The team was professional, punctual and courteous throughout. But the quote came quickly and was quite detailed. It included a good brand of the white EPDM I wanted. It was just as good or better than the quotes from some other bigger players. The price was much better too. So I hoped the no frills meant less overhead. I did check for reviews and they were good. So I decided to go with JM even though it was very hard to find much company presence on the internet. Communicating with Juan via text messages worked very well. I asked to add a plywood cover board and to help me locate the rafters and he was very accommodating. The team came out and Robin was in charge. He spoke English well enough to give me assurances they were going to do what I wanted. The biggest reason for replacing the membrane roof on my flat roof was to ready it for a solar panel installation, which I planned to do myself, if only I could get the 8 panels up on the roof. I'd asked Juan if the team could put the panels on the roof after the job was done. He was agreeable.
