The Seabird Resort - Resorts Near Me - Oceanside, California

We stayed at the Seabird Hyatt for three summers in a row and booked a fourth time in February 2026 for July. The first summer was partial ocean view with a balcony and the second, third, and fourth booking we paid an upgrade for an ocean view with a balcony. After checking in this July at 11:30 am, we got into our room at 2:30 pm. We discovered that we didn't have a balcony like the other 3 visits. Instead, we had a Juliet or faux balcony. We could only step outside, not move around, nor sit. The balcony was essentially a giant window looking at their sister property Mission Pacific and the street. We had no balcony to sit and look at the ocean view we booked and PREPAID for as an upgrade 5 months prior to the stay. I called the front desk. They claimed we booked a room with a Juliet balcony and had no other availability. This is untrue, per the listing image I have included in this review. They offered us a balcony with city view or a room with a king-sized bed. We were a family of 4 traveling with 2 teenagers. They offered no other help or compensation. At Costco's suggestion, I asked about their sister property next door and I asked them to include the reduced valet and our food credits that were part of the February package we already paid for. When I checked in next door at Mission Pacific, I discovered our reservation hadn't been transferred. It had only been re-booked and we needed to pay the market rate for the next 4 nights even though we pre-paid $2300+ for Seabird back in February. I spent at least a half-hour at the front desk trying to negotiate and get a room resembling what we had paid for 5 months ago. MP's management was great and was able to accommodate our requests. After THREE HOURS of stressing and trying to solve this issue, we finally had some type of resolution. We stayed at MP from July 6-10. At about 4pm July 10, Seabird Hyatt emailed me to remind me that they arranged for our move to Mission Pacific, and provided a $300 resort credit along with discounted valet parking as a gesture of goodwill. ABSOLUTELY NOT! They made us a reservation only, and the resort credit and discounted valet parking was part of the package we paid for back in February! Absolutely NOTHING was provided as a gesture of goodwill. Furthermore, our Costco package included a rental car that we had no intention of using, but the price was cheaper. We ended up losing about $36 for the stress of booking at Seabird Hyatt, with an upgraded room with ocean view that was downgraded upon arrival. Seabird had the entire week of our stay to contact us and attempt to make things right. We are quite disappointed in the way this hotel treats their return guests. I do not recommend Seabird Hyatt in Oceanside, California at all. read more

Not sure I was expecting too much. Came to celebrate my birthday and checked in on my birthday. We stayed at Mission Pacific few years ago for my birthday and got a box of welcome chocolate and a note. The day before we checked in, I received a text from the hotel and they asked for arrival time and anything we would like to let them know. I mentioned it's for my birthday and we were bringing our 18 months old baby. Again then I assumed we would get something for my birthday or a little toy or stuffed animal for our baby. Nothing. Nothing was mentioned at check in. Nothing was in our room. I would've expected less if they didn't text us ahead and ask about it. Hotel room was fine. I used Suite Upgrade Award to get a suite. One knob in shower was broke. The cooler is just a cooler and not a refrigerator, wish it was one. Valet was very slow on the weekend. We waited at least 30 mins. Make sure you plan ahead. Also when we arrived, they didn't have the luggage cart ready either. We waited for a cart and also waited a while for luggage to arrive our room. Overall a very underwhelming experience. Stayed for one night on a Thursday in August. Upon check in they give you a glass of champagne. We had a 2 year old and he got to pick out a little toy and we were celebrating my birthday so they gave me a sleeve of delicious chocolates. They "upgraded" us to a ocean front view (which was great) with two queen beds. Originally we had a family room that had two separate rooms and a king bed/sofa couch. So it was fine for us for one night otherwise I would have kept the city room view. I also requested a crib when booking but that was ignored and the room honestly didn't have a lot of space for it. The room was nice and clean and the view was great. Beds are a little soft for my liking. Pool was great and warm. They have sunscreen which was a great touch. read more

This property is owned by Hyatt. They did a really nice job making it look like the Lido house Newport Beach. Everything is light blue striped and it's so beachy and cool with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. They have a nice fitness center with Techno gym equipment. What an amazing resort! Came here for the long weekend during Memorial Day and check in process was super welcoming. Big shout out to Kaylen who was super nice during the check in process and made us feel so welcome. Loved the champagne and chocolates at check in. Pros: 1. Friendly customer service at every turn. 2. I had an ocean view queen and it was perfect on the top floor overlooking the pool and the ocean. Best views in town! 3. Hot tub and pool are good, open from 8 am - 10 pm. To avoid crowds, go early or after 8:30 pm. 4. It's close to the train station and if you are coming from LA, this is a great option. 5. Dog friendly hotel Cons: 1. Valet only which can get expensive but there are lots a few blocks away, which have over night parking for super reasonable rates, so you can avoid extra valet fees. Most restaurants are walking and the area is super dog friendly. I had so much of fun and an amazingly relaxing vacation, I will definitely be back. read more

What a lovely hotel! My review is only for the conference I attended here and to be in such a beautiful hotel with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean, working this weekend felt like a breeze. Conference room was nice and all the AV worked well. Valet parking for $10 was provided for conference goers. I parked in the public lot right across the street for $5.50/day and its literally a stone's throw away. Lunch was Greek cuisine and all of it delicious. The snacks at break were OK too. Bathrooms are nice and just mesmerizing views of the ocean from many parts of the hotel. Id definitely come back again to hang out here another day when not working. Its very chill and classy too. A special thank you to Kaylen at reception, who was absolutely the sweetest and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to celebrate my birthday. The hotel was fully booked the first night of our stay, so upgrades weren't available, but Kaylen was able to move us into a phenomenal room for our second night with a beautiful balcony and an incredible sunset view. It made our trip feel extra special. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and welcoming, and the food and cocktails were outstanding. My family stayed at Seabird Resort from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day. We are very happy we picked this hotel! When we arrived to check in, the staff was so nice. They gave us a free upgrade to an ocean view room on the 4th floor with a balcony. The view was great - we could see the pool and the ocean. Loved it!! The room was very clean. The whole hotel has a nice, relaxed beach house feeling. There is a cool library on the second floor - very cozy to sit and read. The gym is open 24 hours, which is perfect. The pool is heated, but it closes at 10 pm. All the staff were wonderful. They helped us fast whenever we needed something. The hotel is right next to the Oceanside Pier. It was easy to walk there. But it rained a lot, so we did not go many places. Parking is valet only, but the service was good. We loved it here and will come back again this year. I really recommend Seabird Resort! This is a beautiful hotel with a great atmosphere, and we really appreciated it was dog friendly. The rooms were lovely, and the oceanfront location is scenic. Unfortunately, "oceanfront" also means "traffic front." The road between the hotel and the beach is extremely busy and felt like a freeway... even at 3 a.m. Between constant traffic and early morning trash collection, it was impossible to sleep with the windows open and enjoy the sound of the ocean waves, which was one of the experiences we were looking forward to. We also appreciated that the property welcomes dogs, but the designated grass area wasn't easily accessible, which made potty breaks more difficult than expected. The beach valet was a 10 star service! a beautiful property with a lot to offer, but if you're hoping for a peaceful oceanfront stay where you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves, the road / traffic noise may disappoint. read more

Stopped by The Sea Bird Resort recently while on spring break. While we didn't stay at the hotel we did take advantage of the pool. The hotel was spotless from the moment we arrived. The location is perfect, just steps from the beach and close to everything we wanted to do in Oceanside. We loved spending time at the pool, and the poolside service was excellent. Had an amazing stay at The Seabird! From Valet, to check-in, bartender, to onsite dining the entire team knew how to make people feel special and cared for. Alex check us in and he was awesome, got an upgrade, popped some bottle, and was quick with the process. We enjoyed breakfast at Piper which had a solid buffet but we didn't have the appetite and the Ala cart menu was amazing with great service. We spent time in the pool and also lounging at the beach front bar hangout, got some Caiprinhas and enjoyed the sunset. Overall the room was spacious, clean, and well kept, they offered slippers along with any amenities that were forgotten like tooth brushes or paste. I have already booked upcoming stays! We had a great stay here! You can tell it was recently built as everything feels really new, modern, and it has a nice aesthetic. There are not too many noticeable Hyatt references. All the great parts: - Even the basic room is spacious and a small price increase gets you a separate living room. - They have nespresso machines in each room and very nicely gave me a splash of oat milk at the restaurant so I could make my coffee each morning. - The bed was really comfy. - The lobby is nice and memorably comfortable. - The pool is open late until 10 PM. The gym is open 24/7. The pool overlooks the ocean and all the chairs are comfortable. - We didn't eat at the Piper restaurant but it is super Instagram aesthetic. - The resort really feels like a resort that you might find in FL...'resort-y' if that's a term. - There are plenty of small touches that level up the resort creating the high end feeling. Oceanside is super busy on a summer weekend but calms down significantly during the week. All the CA taxes and resort fees add something like $100 each night so this is one of the only negatives. Can't forget the fee, the fee fee, and the fee fee fee. I am also a big reviewer of gyms. This gym was good with about 8-10 strength training machines (i.e. leg press), dbs, kbs, wall balls, a cable machine, a few cardio machines and a Smith machine but the space is actually a bit smaller than I expected. Taking the Coaster here from Downtown SD is pretty easy. Overall, loved the hotel! read more

We recently stayed here for 3 nights the weekend before Thanksgiving and thoroughly enjoyed our time! Staff were wonderful and we found the location great since we were down the street from the Pier and beach, and rates ended up being much less than the Mission Pacific for that weekend. Since we booked through the Amex FHR portal, we also received the $100/stay credit, which could be used at a few places in the Seabird or Mission pacific, and had the resort fees waived due to hotel status. Loved that the front desk had a cart full of toys that our little one could choose from upon check-in, and the rooms were clean and modern. The beds were comfortable, however did make quite a bit of noise (squeaky) when moving around on it, but luckily we had a white noise playing while our little one was asleep. Do note that not all rooms have bathtubs, but the shower stall itself is very spacious (enough for two people) with great water pressure. It's common for events (including weddings) to be held here, so upgrades are not common even with status. I do appreciate that the hotel is family friendly, there's blackout curtains, and all rooms have a balcony. The branded reusable water bottles are nice touch too, although they do dent easily. One thing I did wish was that the hallways connected all around, but luckily I didn't bring my elderly mother with me this time. If you're staying in the higher numbered rooms on a floor and happen to be less mobile or have an elder with you, you'll be walking quite a while to get to elevator. We didn't realize this until we got there, but it's something to keep in mind and you should put in a request for a room closer to the elevator if needed. read more

This is a beautiful hotel with lots of hotel accommodations and wonderfully helpful staff. It's prime location for the beach and pier with beautiful scenic views. Rooms are spacious and clean. The only downside is that only one elevator was working during our stay here, so it was very inconvenient to wait for the amount of guests here. Otherwise, no complaints whatsoever. They have a lot of family friendly activities throughout the holiday as well, which we really appreciate. This was our first time here and won't be our last. read more

I recently stayed at the Seabird Resort in Oceanside and it was FANTASTIC. Truth is, it was a staycation for us as it's only a 30 min or less drive from home, but I got a great deal from my credit card and thought, why not? Let's splurge in O'side! This hotel is AWESOME. I will say that during our trip it was REALLY geared towards families. Lots of families were visiting when we were there in November and they had activities, a play room, and even a movie night playing Frozen 2. There are a lot of amenities. We were upgraded to a Poolside room, which was nice because we were steps away from the pool and jacuzzi and we do like to jacuzzi! OUr room had a small patio and was really nice. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was nice and big and the shower did not suck! That is rare right there! When checking in the service was awesome. The desk clerk worked with me to pick an upgrade room that would be the best for us, told me about all of the things we can do and where things were, and where we could use our credits from my CC deal. When we were ready to go to our room, he sent us off with glasses of champagne. I was not mad at all! When you exit the hotel, you are truly just a crosswalk away from the stairs to the beach and the Oceanside Pier. We headed down to the beach and part of your resort fee is access to complimentary chairs, umbrellas and towels from the little trailer on the beach. AND, they take everything to the beach and set it up for you! I was not made at this either. It was AWESOME. We used this service both days for sitting on the beach in the sun. It was chilly, so we didn't hit the water although lots of others did! It was fun watching the surfers and the people on the beach. The restaurant, Piper is where we had our free breakfast both mornings, one was a Sunday Brunch and one was just ordering from the menu. Service was great and the food was wonderful. The buffet had such an outstanding selection of everything... definitely recommend it. Will try to review the restaurant separately later. There are also two bars, one on the first floor and one next to the pool on the 3rd floor. Decor is coastal, the ceilings are high, the walls are white and it is simply very inviting. They have an art exhibit in the back of the first floor with art from the local art museum and I understand it rotates. I loved everything about this hotel (except the price! ouch!). Without any kind of deal, you will pay more than $300 per night, plus resort fee, plus valet if you use the valet. I was later told that one of the parking lots close by is 24 hours and you can pay daily the $5 fee by re-upping at midnight. NOTED! I totally plan to return to the Seabird. Its just beautiful and I like the amenities and the location is OUTSTANDING. Go here. You will love it. read more

We found the hotel while searching for a quick weekend getaway. We chose Oceanside for its small beach city vibe and the hotel for its proximity to the town center and the pier. The hotel was built from the ground up 4 years ago and it looks sparkling new inside out. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly staff, from valet parking (no self-parking available) to the front desk. For our stay, we got a king bed corner room with ocean view. The room was well lit and impeccably clean. From neatly folded bed sheet to stain free bathroom floor and shower tiles. Besides relaxing on the balcony, watching the surfers weaving through the waves, there are other amenities such as pool, hot tub, and game room. You can also walk to the pier boardwalk or stroll through the strand (wish the hotel offered reduced rate bike rental). For dinning, besides the hotel restaurant, there are many options just a couple of hundreds of feet up on Main or Mission street. From casual taco place to fine sushi bar. Tons of choices. The room was well insulated and quiet, the night traffic outside on the weekend was slightly noisier, but it did die down after 11PM. It also was easily remedied with ear plugs (maybe the hotel can add it to its complementary item list). Overall, a great stay experience and looking forward to repeating it soon. read more

Ocean, sea breeze, and good service are all found at the Seabird Resort. They were attentive and kind. The place was decorated in strange art that was like kid themed with seabirds. So I was a bit confused as to what they were going for. Definitely upscale and each room had water bottles, slippers, and bath robes. I did run into an issue of a red blinking light that was by the bed and then in the bathroom with a chirping sound. Kept me up at 2am and I went down to ask only to be told they didn't know either. See video. Now the front desk in the morning was apologetic and they comped breakfast and resort fee/valet parking. I appreciate the effort--sad I only stayed one night and it was not much sleep. We stayed at The Seabird Resort on February 15th to celebrate Valentine's Day. We've been to this hotel a few times, but this time, the experience was very different because we learned that Vice President JD Vance was staying at the hotel at the same time we were there. They blocked the streets around the hotel and set up checkpoints to carefully inspect our car before entering the area. Then, they checked our bodies and belongings, similar to airport security, when we entered the hotel's front entrance. We had a room with 1 King Bed and a Partial View on the second floor. However, a huge palm tree blocked the ocean view, so we could mostly see the street. There were also many police officers on the street nearly all day, so I could see them right in front of me every time I walked to the balcony. The room was very nice, with high ceilings and simple interior design. The bed was very comfortable. I also liked their slippers with the hotel logo, which were very comfortable to wear. The bathroom was clean and refreshing. We enjoyed playing pool at the Shelter Club in the evening and had a very nice breakfast at the Piper restaurant. However, we didn't really enjoy the beach in front of the hotel this time, as I didn't want to be checked every time I entered the hotel. Most of the time during the day, we stayed outside the hotel. The hotel service was great, and the front desk lady was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again on a normal weekend, unlike this time. read more

We stayed in an Oceanview room which had a sweet balcony that looked out onto the resort pool and the Pacific Ocean. Good spot to bring the little ones. They have daily activity for the kids and who doesn't love the pool. I'm a huge fan of top gun (Tom Cruise Movie) so it was cool to drop by the Top Gun House (which is now a coffee shop w pastries - the apple turnover was delicious w a cup of coffee to go with it). Beautiful hotel with easy access to the beach. We looked at hotels in San Diego with proximity to the beach and found that the Seabird was very reasonable in price when booked thru Costco. Oceanside does not have a lively nightlife like SD and the beach wasn't that nice (short shoreline and lots of rocks), but this checked off the needs for a small family vacation. Plenty of restaurants and a CVS within walking distance. The hotel is beautiful and all the staff were really nice. The check in staff advised that there was a game room for the kids. I had high expectations seeing how the rest of the hotel was impressive, but the game room seemed like an afterthought. It was a conference room with a ping pong table, an arcade game, and like a corn hole toss thing. The hotel pool was really nice and never got too crowded while we were there in Mid July. We were told we could also use the pool at the sister hotel across the street, but it looks pretty much the same. My only real complaint was that the bed seemed worn out already for a newer hotel. I felt like I was kind of sinking in and had no back support. I did appreciate that the rooms seemed well insulated from sound as I barely heard the noise from the pool or our neighbors. Overall, I would consider another family vacation here again. read more

This is my second visit here but my first review. The first time I came they has just opened. They gave each room a metal water bottle and I loved it. Now they just give you plastic bottles to refill. Not as cool. The spicket for the drinking water can be slow especially at the gym. Service here is impeccable! Check in with Chanel was fantastic. I texted the hotel beforehand to let them know we were celebrating birthdays. They had balloons and chocolates for us in our room. How nice! I checked in early and waited at the pool. I got a phone call close to check in time and was asked if I wanted am upgrade to an oceanfront Premier king. I did not hesitate! They actually read your requests which is rare. She noticed I had 2 kids with me and offered a complimentary roll away bed. Wow! The room is spectacular. The view is lovely. I was on the level witty the pool so if I looked to my left, I would see sunbathers. The balcony wrapped around. There was so much space. The bed was spacious and comfortable. The tub in the bathroom had a door that opened to the room. I loved that. Overall, I had such a good time here and did not want to leave! read more

As nice as the Seabird hotel looks, the service is what really stands out. From the point of check in to every interaction at the front desk, we felt very welcome. Liliana especially made sure we maximized our benefits across all our rooms, and we were impressed how she saw the reservations to link rooms and keep families near each other. Isabelle noticed me carrying the book "Unreasonable Hospitality" and said how it was a great book and that the team all read it. I can tell, as everyone really gave us great service and didn't make any request seem like any trouble. Several others were also super helpful and I didn't catch their names. The area itself is very convenient being right across from the beach (loved the included rentals of umbrella and chairs at the Rambler), and nearby eateries and stores of downtown Oceanside. read more

Seabird Resort is hands down one of the best hotels in Oceanside. The property is beautiful, modern, and very clean. The rooms are spacious and well-maintained, and the overall vibe feels upscale but still relaxed and beachy. I booked using my Amex Platinum Fine Hotels & Resorts credit, which made the stay even better with the $125 resort credit and free breakfast. The only downside: the last two times I stayed here, I was overcharged and had to get the bill corrected. Nothing major, but definitely double-check your food and resort credits before checking out so you don't get surprised. The breakfast buffet is honestly overrated for the $50 price tag -- it should be closer to $20 -- but since it was free with my Amex Platinum credit, I can't complain too much. Overall, still a great hotel and one of the nicest places to stay in Oceanside. Just review your final bill carefully before you leave. read more

An Instagram worthy atmosphere with modern and upscale furniture with a lot of attention to detail. Like others have mentioned the pool area is also quite nice and family friendly with an adjoining bar and restaurant. The Seabird really shines as a family friendly hotel. They have a program for kids and have daily activities for the little ones (at the beach and at the hotel). My daughter enjoyed making sandcastles and flying a kite for the first time. They have a camper by the beach that is a convenient spot to grab waters, get beach chairs and also kids beach accessories (sandcastle tools, balls, etc) which are complimentary. Another highlight of the hotel is their restaurant Piper. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had and again very kid friendly. I was a Guest of Honor, so basically breakfast was comp'd the entire stay. The rooms themselves are just okay, more like 4 star accomodations than 5 star. Even though the hotel is not that old (3.5 years?), the furniture and certain parts of the room are showing signs of wear. Still nice rooms though. Also, as much as we liked The Seabird, I think we would only stay 2 nights in Oceanside instead of the 4 nights we stayed. read more

Attended a conference here and stayed 4 nights. The customer service from the valet parking attendants to the front desk staff was phenomenal. The pool area was my favorite; great spot to watch the sunset. The hotel is also within walking distance to many restaurants! Due to the conference, they cut the resort fee and parking cost in half which I was thankful for. The resort fee included chairs and umbrellas if you go down to the beach. I also ate in Piper which was the restaurant in the lobby and it was very good. Two downsides: the bed wasn't very comfortable and the elevators too forever! It was also a very long walk to the elevator from where my room was. read more

The Seabird Resort exceeded our expectations! The property is beautiful, modern, and just steps from the beach. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and had incredible ocean views. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. We loved the pool, easy access to the beach, and being within walking distance of great restaurants and the Oceanside Pier. It was the perfect place to relax, and we can't wait to come back. read more

Not sure why people have this higher rated than the sister property. I stayed at both recently and everything from the rooms, the decor, the service, the staff all better at Mission. I would say this property does feel bigger for whatever reason and more inviting. Maybe it's that. I think the rooms were big but not well appointed. Would not come back. That breakfast was so bad for the price. It's just mid food. I can make better food at home. read more

I attended a conference here and enjoyed 4 wonderful days at this gorgeous property. For a waterfront location, the interior always felt fresh and clean. The impeccable decor is perfectly coastal chic and executed splendidly. Every staff member I encountered was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and personable, from the front desk to housekeeping to the bar and restaurant personnel. Also, I had received a text on the second day asking everything was ok... I replied asking if I could somehow purchase tea bags and, within minutes someone brought tea bags to my room! This is Four Seasons behavior! The meals I had were very good, and the cocktails en pointe. Housekeeping was thorough, and timely, and the bed and linens were very comfortable. There was an issue in the balloon one day during one of our meetings when water started leaking from the ceiling. They sent someone to address it, and it never happened again. My main complaint is that the 2 elevator banks are vastly insufficient for the size of the property, and the issues were exacerbated by the fact that we couldn't take the stairs. Still, I've already told our event coordinator that I hope we return to this property every year for our annual conference :) read more
