Our first time here for our Anniversary getaway! It's was very clean and such super nice staff here. We walked a cross the street to the beach. We along the beach I think we did over 14,899 steppes that day. And watched the the sunset..beautiful sunsets Great fire pits 3 to choose from with very nice fireplace too Lots chairs and tables to read & covered areas too. Pool and jacuzzi in the back. Parking is all round the building first come first serve They have good size suites, some with yards it's turf green not grass. This resort is well kept. Flowers all around very green and with Big tiki's too And quiet too which is very relaxing here and close to the Village and stores & restaurants are walking distance is plus. You can come up on the train it stops here so you don't need to drive too.

Awesome boutique hotel in Carlsbad, CA! I absolutely LOVE this gem of a place. **limited parking available, so large vehicles (sprinter vans, vans, full sized trucks will be difficult to park) This place is awesome. Over 120 boutique hotel rooms nestled in a tranquil, lush, and quiet area. Within 2 minutes walking distance to the public beach access point (sand volleyball courts) where you can swim, surf, sunbathe, or just chill on one of the several park benches overlooking the water. Check-in is within a specific time window, so pay attention to what time you'll arrive. Again, this is a boutique hotel, not a Marriott, so the office hours are not what one would normally expect. This place offers a continental breakfast, coffee (no decaf), and an assortment of teas. There's a small gym too (hours 07:30 a.m.-1000pm and you'll need to ask the front desk for a single use key card to get in). Free weight stack from 5lbs - 50lbs. A large combination machine, includes leg press, chest pec Dec, reverse fly machine, triceps, and preacher curl. There's a treadmill, elliptical and a bike, as well as an adductor/abbductor machine. They even have a squat rack with a flat bench, and an adjustable bench. If you're somewhat familiar with gym equipment, you'll be able to make it work. Additionally, this place has a pool and a hot tub. Rooms are upgraded interiors, nice shower and single sink, full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, oven) minus the microwave (rm 221), other rooms may have different set ups. This truly is a little slice of heaven. So, come check it out!

Trip to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday. Staff was super accommodating when there was an issue with our room. Really beautiful grounds, super close to the beach (literally within walking distance, right across the street). The patio area has fire pits Thad come on each night, making for a great place to hang out. We enjoyed the Starbucks coffee in the lobby. The grounds at this resort will transport you to a tropical island. We will be back!

We've been coming here for probably the past 10 years. We're locals we live in San Marcos but this is our go to place. It's clean. It's very comfortable. It's very relaxed and the people at the front are wonderful. it's not stuffy. You feel like your family member.

Just a cute design detail .

If you are looking for lodging that is uniquely SoCal beach, this is the place for you. Though not extravagantly appointed- no gold gilded chandeliers- it is both lovely and comfortable in a genuine sort of way. I stayed in one of their least expensive rooms ( luxury studio). It was generous in space and decorated in a vintage California beach sort of style . The grounds are remarkably lush and serene for a location just across the street from the ocean, with ample outdoor seating options. Included are a pool and jacuzzi. Also included are beach chairs and towels to take to the beach with you. Very child friendly vibe. If you like to stay in places that actually represent a particular area rather than a more generic chain ( for instance), Ocean Palms is a great choice for you and for your family.

This is our 3rd visit to this property which we discovered 1 year ago...we LOVE it here..the staff. ALL of them at the front desk are consistently excellent..helpful, professional, friendly and a pleasure to interact with (Beau, Barry, Kendra, Lori and shame on us for forgetting the other names.). The housekeeping staff as well. The property is so well manicured and maintained and the rooms so clean and comfortable..location could not be better with respect to the beach and restaurants..we consider ourselves regulars now and will definitely be back..pool, hot tub and fitness center giant plusses as well. Continental breakfast way more than satisfactory along with all day snacks and beverages. Thank all of you at Ocean Palms Beach Resort, the best!!

Ocean Palms Beach Resort is a small sized resort, just a block away from Carlsbad State Beach. It is also within walking distance of the many fine restaurants, cafes and boutiques. What makes this a nice vacation experience is the above mentioned. While the other resorts in the town are huge with a lots of people and activity, Ocean Palms feels more low key, fewer people and less noise. Simple amenities are offered in their Check In office such as a self service Starbucks coffee machine, fruits, snacks, juices. Outdoors, a pool and lounge area with fire pits. The rooms are nicely decorated, simple but comfortable enough accomodations for a daytime refresher or overnight stay. If you want a less crowded resort, right across from the beach, away from the busy part of town, Ocean Palms Resort is a nice choice!

The hotel is right by the beach! Our room was very nice and clean. I love the fire pits that they have going a couple of hours at night. The wide range of amenities makes this hotel worth the price. It is located near downtown Carlsbad and the small eateries are within walking distance. The service is very friendly! They have towels you can take to the beach and they also let you borrow chairs. They probably have sand toys too. The continental breakfast is convenient. I knocked Off one star because on the dates that we were there it (June 17-19) it seemed that the ladies at the front desk were not as enthused about their jobs as they guys were. The two young men were definitely so much more helpful and friendlier.

This is our 4th time back over the last several years and we absolutely love it here. The rooms are updated and clean, it's just steps away from the beach, and the staff is so friendly. We really appreciated help from Beau at the front desk. He was so helpful to recommendations for lunch and dinner, that turned out to be delicious, and he was so nice to our kiddos. They have beach/pool towels that you can check out along with umbrellas and boogie boards. Complimentary grab-and-go style breakfast, Starbucks coffee and juices were a hit everyday. We will definitely be back!

This place is NOT worth the rate we paid. We were so excited to getaway to the beach for one night and enjoy some relaxing time. The rate was high in my opinion, but would have been worth it to me had the room been nice. Upon arrival I immediately noticed the smell when we walked in and when I used the bathroom there was a huge spider in the corner. You couldn't miss it, so I'm not sure how the cleaning crew left it there. The room was mediocre and stinky. And super old and rickety. Our room was literally right next to the gate that opens to the back alley way outside the property and all we heard the entire night was the gate SLAMMING shut. We literally got NO sleep. This place really needs to be updated. Nice location, but will never be back. The air conditioning unit seemed like it had mold or mildew smells coming from it. And my boyfriend didn't feel well at all after running it. Stay far away from this low budget motel.

We loved the view from inside the room and from the balcony. Housekeeping did a wonderful job of preparing our room for our arrival and restocking on the day we needed a few more items. There were so many options for personalizing our room stay, but we were happy with what came standard in the room. We arrived early and got a parking pass so we could go out and explore the area while waiting for check-in. The check-in process was also quick and easy. We started each day with the complimentary breakfast items and were happy with the options. I stopped in at the end of each night to grab hot apple cider from the lobby, and we enjoyed it while sitting at one of the many fire pits before going back to the room. The only odd moment was on our last night when two fire pits turned off as we went to sit at them. The first turned off next to the lobby, then we moved to a second in the pool area that also turned off. After the second one, we just went back to our room and looked back to see both working again. We went back out and sat for a few minutes by the upper deck fire and both stayed lit. We had a great experience overall and we will be back soon.

When we got to the front desk to check in, we had to wait while staff checked in another guest, which was understandable. However, after waiting patiently, multiple guests who arrived after us were helped before we were. Even a family who walked in later was taken ahead of us, which was frustrating and set a negative tone right from the start. I asked about upgrading to an ocean view room and was offered a room for an additional $100 that barely had a view at all. On top of that, I had booked a room with two queen beds, and they tried to offer a one-king bed room instead, which didn't make sense for a family stay. Once we got to the room, the beds did not appear to be true queen size and the room had a strong unpleasant odor. The air conditioning did not cool properly, and some areas of the room did not seem clean. We tried to make the best of the evening since we were only staying one night. Later in the evening, after I had taken a shower and was simply walking around the room while my family watched TV, we received a noise complaint and someone knocked on our door. We were not being loud at all -- just normal movement in the room. It was surprising and honestly upsetting to be approached about noise when we were simply settling in for the night. It made the stay uncomfortable and took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing beach getaway. Overall, the cleanliness, room conditions, and customer service need improvement. The property has a great location, but our experience did not match the expectations.

Since life has been a little crazy, I was unable to book a room until last minute. Somehow this resulted in a very cheap stay in an ocean view king room. The hotel was clean, safe, had accessible parking, and large comfy beds (though their pillows could use an upgrade.) The lobby and outdoor spaces are beachy, with several private patio areas for those looking to linger in the California sun, or go for a swim in their resort style pool. It's also directly across the street from the prettiest beach. Sadly my trip was a turnaround, but I was excited to catch a glimpse of the ocean from my hotel room the next morning. The main reason I chose to dock a star is because my shower was all out of soap, conditioner, and shampoo. Normally I'd bring my own, so I was extra bummed to find these empty.

The room hardwood floor smelled like animal feces, so because it is late, we asked the staff to take care of this the next morning. The grounds are nice and there are many families visiting for Spring Break. The highlight of the property is the lobby. It is very pretty, comfortable, and well decorated.

It's an all suites hotel so it served that need. The room itself on appearance was very nice, perhaps recently refurbished and felt clean and modern. We had a couple experiences which made it a little weird though. The rooms have motion detecting lights that you can only sort of control. The shower for example...the light turns off when you're in the shower as it doesn't sense your motion and there's no way (obvious to us) to force it to stay on. That was a bummer for the 2 of us who wanted to shower but had to do so in the dark unless we opened the shower door and waved our arm around to hopefully catch the attention of the sensor to give us another 30 seconds of light. This also happens if you're sitting on the toilet. The last thing I want to think about in that situation is having to provide additional motion so the light doesn't turn out. In the living space, a light also automatically turns on when it senses motion. Not great for having our son trying to sleep in that room and us having to move through it to leave the room or access the kitchen to have all the lights suddenly turn on around our sleeping boy. Also had a disappointing non-fitness room experience. The fitness room was no accessible because of renovations...okay bad luck in terms of timing...but they said I could go to the adjacent Hampton Inn and use their fitness room which was open 24 hours. So I did, but, unfortunately their fitness room actually isn't open 24 hours as I learned when I got there. So no fitness room and wasted time walking in the rain to the hotel next door based in the inaccurate info given by the staff. So overall disappointing and strange (especially the lights situation)...seems like they forget to dot a few Is when setting these rooms up.

Room itself looked clean and newer, and I like that the layout is bigger than a normal hotel room. Having the small kitchen with fridge, microwave, and sink makes it really convenient when traveling with kids. Bed was comfortable and the room felt modern overall. Breakfast is included which is nice, but the food itself was about a 1-2 out of 5. Selection looked okay -- eggs, potatoes, sausage, waffles -- but quality wasn't great and the waffle area was messy when we went. Still free, so it helps for families. Honestly I booked this mostly for value. Legoland Hotel was around $600-$800 for the night, and this stay was $262 on a Saturday with AAA discount, so big price difference. For families this makes a lot more sense. If I put myself as a kid, this place would actually be pretty cool -- pool, free breakfast, big room, waffle maker, space to move around. That's why I was leaning 4 stars at first. But had to drop it to 3 out of 5 because the toilet in the room was leaking, which you don't expect at this price and at a newer hotel. Little things like that matter, especially with family staying in the room. Overall 3 out of 5. Good value, family friendly, but needs better maintenance. I don't particularly like this restroom setup, but what are you gonna do? The free breakfast is great. They have a made-to-order omelette station, with an actual person behind a counter taking orders and making your food. They also have a self-serve waffle-making station, oatmeal cups, yogurt, cereal, and a mango-infused water (fancy!). The only thing is that the coffee they offered in the dining room was trash. What you want to do is go visit the Keurig coffee maker by the front desk, which is available to guests all day. Make yourself a cup of coffee from there, and thank me later. There is indoor seating, but do yourself a favor and go out to the patio and enjoy your breakfast outdoors in the perfect Carlsbad morning air. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day, which is a relief and as it should be. There is also a laundry room, with super fast washers and dryers. Ayres Hotel is set up in the hills a bit, so there isn't anything nearby to walk to. Breakfast was a standout, with made-to-order omelets along with standard continental options. We arrived around 7 p.m. and were tired and hungry, so it was such a bonus to find a small bar on site (in the same space as breakfast) serving personal pizzas and drinks. We grabbed food and brought it back to our room, which was exactly what we needed. Our deluxe king room with a sofa bed was very clean and well laid out. There was a small, movable coffee table that made eating on the sofa easy, a desk with a rolling chair, and a fridge and microwave hidden away in a cabinet. The bathroom was well stocked with towels, and there was a blow dryer and steam iron available. Free parking and Wi-Fi were appreciated, and there were Tesla charging stations as well. The only thing I wished for was easier TV streaming or the ability to log into Netflix directly--the remote was a bit laggy--but we didn't spend much time watching TV anyway. The location is quiet since it's in a business area, but Target, Starbucks, and plenty of food options are just a quick drive away. We stayed at Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas, perched right along the coastline. Although it…read moresits close to the main road, the hotel feels quietly tucked into the edge of the ocean--a low, four-story retreat that opens itself to the sea. What I loved most was the room, especially the shower. It had a thoughtfully designed, thick glass door that opened easily. In most hotels, I hesitate before turning on the water, bracing for that sudden burst of heat overhead. But here, everything was arranged with care, so I could step in comfortably and enjoy the shower without that small anxiety. The details in the room made it even better--a Nespresso machine ready for a slow morning, and a proper water kettle, which always feels like a small luxury. The bed was soft and welcoming, the kind you sink into at the end of a long day. We didn't have an ocean view, but the patio had its own charm--quiet, intimate, and enough to make you pause. The best part, though, was the beach. Just a short walk down the stairs, and your feet meet the sand. The shoreline isn't wide, but it stretches beautifully along the coast. I found myself walking there in the mornings and again in the evenings, letting the rhythm of the waves mark the day. That simple routine--down the stairs, onto the sand--became the most memorable part of the stay.

However, watching the sunset on the California Coastline from the infinity hot tub was incredible and definitely social media worthy. I loved that the dry sauna had a glass window, offering all the benefits of the sauna while also providing a beautiful view of the ocean.

First of all, I'd like to say this is a very busy hotel at least during my stay. We arrived early,…read moreand although I had chatted on the link with whomever that I wanted to check in earlier the room still wasn't ready. Johnny was the only one at the front desk handling everything when I arrived. He was great, personable and still made us feel welcome. The property is beautiful. The 7 Mile Kitchen has good food, the Grab and Go Gelato and coffee is good as well. Our ponto suite was okay. It was interesting having the "living room" area in a hallway. I felt it was meant for a family with small children. However the beds were comfortable. The next night I spoke with David and Grace at the front desk. They were so kind and approachable. I appreciate it!

This is the worst Sheraton that I've ever stayed. At first,…read morewhen we checking in, the receptionist told us our room is on the second floor with room number 212*, when we got to the elevator, all the second floor room number start from number 2200. So we need to went back to the lobby to make sure where the room located. Second, they didn't inform us that we will be charged for $10 each day for borrowing microwave. Third, the complementary coffee never been refilled after 10 A.M. the first day, I was there around 9:30 to get some coffee but the creamer was out. So I informed the receptionist name 'Maria' and instead of assisting, she told me to request it to the staff at the restaurant. The second day, I was there around 10 AM and no more coffee. When I asked the waitress at the restaurant, they said the coffee is not meant for hotel guests instead it's for corporate people. Very confusing. Fourth, the cleaning staff didn't really pay attention to the details like shampoo, body wash, bottle water, and tea. I have to called the front desk everyday to asked for the refill. Also there's no signal for Verizon provider so it needs to get connected to the Wi-Fi. I really hope they can be more informative and pay attention to the details in the room.
