Just spent the weekend here for the company holiday party. We had a blast and this hotel is top notch. My room, it is just a regular room but everything is well placed and feel exclusives. I can tell they are selective on the hotel staff selection. Alot of them can be models. The service were second to none. After our main party, some of us stayed at the main lobby bar for an after party. We have moved furniture and ordered alot of drinks. When we left, it definitely was a mess. Water pressure was pathetically low for a Park Hyatt hotel. The room is def not soundproof. You can easily hear people walking by in hallway. (2/5) We booked a stay at Park Hyatt Aviara and paid for a pool suite upgrade. We agreed to no early check-in and planned our day accordingly. The issue arose when the room was not ready well past the prior guest's checkout window. We were told 4:00 pm, then 4:20 pm, and ultimately waited over four hours beyond the latest checkout time while being repeatedly asked to wait another 20-30 minutes. During this time, our family waited on property with no access to the room and were at risk of missing a 5:30 dinner reservation. We escalated to on-site management and asked for any reasonable service recovery--waiving the upgrade fee, refunding the points used, or offering an alternative. None was offered. Janet who identified herself as manager was condescending, passive aggressive, and seemed to revel in the little sliver of power she'd been granted. What was most disappointing was the lack of flexibility or problem-solving from management despite the significant delay. We were told checkout for the prior guest was 4:00 pm, which conflicted with Hyatt's stated policies, and no reconciliation or accommodation was provided. The property itself is beautiful, but the service recovery and management response did not align with expectations for a Park Hyatt stay, particularly when a paid room category is not delivered within a reasonable timeframe. read more

Recently had a pretty good stay here for the weekend with my family. A tad hard not to compare to other lodging as we previously enjoyed a week in Paris the weekend before and had an amazing day at two different Hyatts there so the devil in comparison was pretty strong during this lodging. I used a free night award and points to reserve my reservation here. My family came to celebrate my birthday and take our little one to Legoland which is pretty close by. Major props, I'm a globalist and they upgraded us to a nice pool suite. It was nice and spacious. The house keeping staff were attentive the whole visit. Shout out to Kayla for the great customer service and responsiveness. I really appreciated that and the nice champagne for my birthday. Breakfast was easy and nice. A bit disappointed that this resort made you choose buffet or ala carte when the others we've stayed at allowed the globalist breakfast to have both. One other point that made me notch this in as a 4 instead of 5 stars was not having complimentary access to the spa. I was excited and looking forward to checking out their spa facilities but guests are charged $65 a visit (or globalist $35 a visit). Considered me spoiled to expect complimentary access as I was just at Park Hyatt in Paris that offered it (or any Vegas hotel through its resort fees). So that was a let down. Other pros though were their pools were nice to use and we had a lot of run with those water slides. We're not golfing people so did not participate in those activities but it looked like a great golfing location for those fans. read more

My husband and I spent a few nights here for our Babymoon, and it was truly a wonderful getaway thanks to Park Hyatt! The resort was well-kept and beautiful, the rooms were clean, the gym was very well-equipped, but most of all, it was quiet and peaceful with incredible views, just the way we wanted our Babymoon to be. Staff were friendly and nice. Not only did Valet act swiftly when we requested them to park at an EV spot for our car to get charged, it rained during our stay and they offered to loan us their large umbrellas, which was so nice. Our fireplace wasn't functioning properly, so when I called Guest Services, we had maintenance at our doorsteps within minutes. We dined at both Ember & Rye and Ponto Lago. Both were great dining experiences, but we preferred Ponto Lago slightly more. There is a convenience store within the resort, which we used on several occasions to purchase water and coffee. I had one minor incident at Concierge/guest services, which wasn't a big deal, but could've been handled slightly better given this is a luxury resort, after all. I inquired at Concierge to book us spa appointments at Miraval Spa, but the female staff wasn't that helpful. She dialed the Spa, but when they didn't answer after a few rings, she just simply told me to come back and didn't even take down my information to follow up or further assist me. I could've just called the Spa myself while I was in my hotel room. I bothered not to go back, just didn't feel like she wanted to help even though no one was around. read more

The Park Hyatt Aviara has my heart! I think it is the best Hyatt in San Diego- beautiful sunset views of Carlsbad and a luxury hotel. The service is always good- they always try to upgrade your room as a World of Hyatt Member, and there are always small touches in the room if you are celebrating an event like an anniversary with prosseco, chocolate covered strawberries, or macarons. The hotel property is huge, it's fun just to walk around! When I've stayed here, there is often a conference or Indian wedding occurring so there's always something to see. They have a good number of dining options. The lobby bar (Pacific Point) and pool food (Waters Edge) are fine. The coffee shop inside is good too for a grab and go coffee, but the food is just okay. For dinner, I really liked Ponto Lago and think their dinner is better than Ember & Rye. Ponto Lago's baja style dinner options have all been great. Ember & Rye's steaks have just been okay! The amenities offered were also great- they offer fitness classes, the pool (both adult and family pool) are fun- check out the water slide!! The gym is also very nice with brand new equipment. They offer a shuttle service to take you to the 4 Seasons tennis court and pickleball court which are very nice. read more

What a beautiful property. We stayed there this past weekend for the second time, and really enjoyed it. Driving up to the hotel entrance, you can already tell it's a posh hotel, and walking into the lobby and seeing the ocean view... Just amazing. The first time we stayed we were upgraded (my wife is a globalist with the Hyatt loyalty program, so free upgrades and free breakfast, very nice perks! ). to a one bedroom suite which was very nice and spacious. This time we weren't upgraded due to a large wedding party, but we still got a nice room with partial ocean view. As a pickleball player, I was able to take advantage of the courts connected to the hotel free of charge (super nice courts). And lastly, the breakfast was very good, with omelet station, a variety of hot items, fresh fruits and pastries, fresh juices and gourmet coffee, all in an elegant dining room. Elegance without snobbery defines the hotel, which is not the norm for high end hotels. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, adding enjoyment to the stay. Highly recommended! read more

I booked a cabana for a day via Resort Pass. We got complimentary valet parking upon arrival. The check in process was quick and easy. We got key cards from the reception desk and then went downstairs to the pool area. We were the first ones there and they gave us a cabana right next to the slides when we asked for it. The cabana had a refrigerator and a tv for entertainment. The pool staff brought us complimentary water, soda, fruit salad and chips and guac. We ordered some food and drinks and they were reasonable for a 5-star resort. The staff checked in on us once in a while. Kids were having fun with the water slides (open 11am to 4pm). It was very relaxing by the pool. I would stay here next time for a staycation. read more

This is a beautiful property. As a globalist, I got a room upgrade to a room with a view, but it wasn't a suite or anything. I thought the room was nice and the robes were big and comfy with a hood, which made it cozy to sit out on the balcony when it was chilly. I ate in the restaurant each morning and thought the menu was a little limited for entrées. I went to the spa and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The amenities were a little sparse, but it was fine. I went for a walk around the property and met the woman who takes care of the plants and she was lovely and very much took pride in her work. I also spent some time at the pool, which is beautiful and they have people coming around to take food and drink orders. It's a pretty quiet property with not a lot going on, but if you're looking for a relaxing stay, it was very nice. read more

The staff are wonderful, friendly and accommodating! Their event services are well done. Food is fresh and tasty. Servers are efficient and friendly. Convention facilities can accommodate a wide range of guests. Service to the room appeared to be twice a day. Once to clean the room and another for bed turndown service later in the day. Super nice! What a terrible experience. We had to call guest services, in-room dining, and concierge multiple times for every request. The cherry on top was when housekeeping threw out our entire bag of the kids snacks and other miscellaneous items for our stay while we were out for the day, which included about $100 worth of stuff. They denied that housekeeping threw it out, and their response was essentially "oh well, sorry." read more

Nice place to stay with family, but every time we've gone to the kids' pool we've found poop--even first thing in the morning--which makes it seem like the pool isn't cleaned nightly. I arrived at the property for a one night staycation. In the evening when we were ready to shower, it was noted that housekeeping never filled the shampoo nor the shower gel. Even the conditioner was watery and when I asked the front desk to have housekeeping fix it while I went to dinner, it was never addressed during my stay. The cranberry juice and pineapple juice at breakfast arrived to the table warm. The icing on the cake was when I was about to go out for lunch on my last day, received a 4pm check out as a globalist, and found that valet had damaged the plastic covering on the side of the driver seat. After reporting the damage to Clint, who was part of the customer service team, the security guard named Dan took down my information and accused me of lying about the damage by asking, "so you're saying we did this?" Dan said "there are no security cameras/footage anyways" After I went back inside to speak to the front desk manager named Annika, Dan followed me inside and asked what year was my car, when I told him it was a 2016, he said you know it has 150k miles, and I said yes I am aware, he just walked away, once again accusing me of lying and taking no responsibility before there was even an investigation. Annika told me the head of security, named Tom would conduct an investigation and reach out to me within 2 business days. When I asked Annika whether there are security cameras she said yes and when I told her what Dan said, she couldn't provide a reason why he would said they don't have any security cameras. Tom contacted me the next day and said he could not confirm that the valet staff caused the damage. He also said he would waive the parking fee. When I told him I was a globalist staying on points so my parking fee was waived, he kind of gasped. This showed Tom did not due his due diligence in looking up my profile prior to reach out. Keep in mind valet parking is required at this property and self parking is not allowed. You have been warned. read more

This is a gorgeous property that used to be the four seasons when I visited a few years back. The rooms are well appointed (slippers!) and it's a great location for a smaller conference. The artwork was breathtaking including a lot of sculptures on the walls. The views are stunning and feel like one is in a tropical location. Why the three stars you ask? My room (279) had a foul smell upon arrival that didn't clear out. Getting help to figure out what was wrong took too long. I even asked a friend who was staying in another room to confirm the smell and she said it was awful. After two requests to have someone evaluate and fix it didn't address the problem, I had to wait to see the night manager to walk with me up to the room. Rain at check in was super slow which resulted in a long wait. She also didn't seem in a rush to provide help which was frustrating. I'd definitely stay here again, but only for an event given the lack of high end service one would expect from a hotel of this quality. read more

We recently stayed at Park Hyatt Aviara for one night to take my son to Legoland. We had a terrible experience. At around 8:45 PM, there was a loud knock on our door. When we opened the door, we were met by a very aggressive and unpleasant security guard. He said that they had received a noise complaint about loud music and that we should keep it down. I tried to explain to him that we were not playing music, and he did not seem to care. I would like to note that our room overlooked the courtyard, and we could hear loud live music coming from the hotel restaurant. I assume the only one neighboring room had their balcony door closed and thought the music was being played by us. After the security guard left, I called the front desk and spoke to the manager to see what was going on. The manager said that they had received a complaint that we were playing loud music. I explained to her that we were not playing music. She said that it is their policy to send security to the room to warn guests when a noise complaint has been received. This is a ridiculous policy. They basically assumed that we were guilty without even investigating the validity of the complaint. Instead of accusing paying guests, they should send someone to investigate and confirm that the guest is being loud before knocking on the door to disturb the guest and unjustly accuse and warn them. We felt very uncomfortable after this interaction, and we would have left that same night if we had not already paid for non-refundable Legoland tickets. We will never stay again at Park Hyatt Aviara. read more

This place is truly the creme de la creme...!!! I am a bougie hotel customer. What more can I say? I walked in and the room was extremely nice. Clean. Plush and felt quality. Very nice double sink bathroom with a tub and shower separate! YEP... Love it. The room itself had a couch which is a NICE addition and one that I used while I was visiting here for a conference. The rooms have lanais... mine looked over the courtyard which was nice. There is a coffee machine with plenty of options for anyone truly. There is also a fridge available in the room which I most often find lacking now. The common areas are awesome there is even a pool table. The lobby bar is nice. There are quite some original drinks. The courtyard and pool areas are nice. The bed was RIDICULOUSLY comfortable. At night there was turn down service with chocolates and water left on the nightstand. Listen this is frankly just my kind of place. read more

As a general rule this Park Hyatt is as nice as all the others. Top shelf in terms of the spa. The staff extra friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return and utilize fully. The valet and bell staff excellent quick and efficient. Front desk as well asst with small error. The primary restaurant Ponto Lago was excellent for dinner as well Breakfast !!! Staff so nice and listened to us and made recommendation! They have out standing staff for breakfast as well dinner. The menu has so many healthy options. The fresh squeezed juices great price point as well. The room was a pool suite as anticipated quality and nice size w two balcony. Only small complaint was the restaurant that is part of the Aviara golf course needs some upgrades in terms of food quality. I won't mention it by name. But maybe it needs a new name. Good resort for parents with a toddler. The facilities and the ambiance is definitely worth the 5 star recognition. But the service needs to improve. Pros: newly renovated facilities, friendly staff and decent size kids swimming pool. Cons: multiple foods that went bad. Sound proofing could be better. Urine stain on sofa bed. Overall, my wife, daughter and I enjoyed the stay. The staff were generally welcoming and helpful. However, there definitely are numerous issues during our visit. First, the some of the foods that we ordered were moldy and rotten. The oysters 1 out of 6 from their flagship restaurant was completely off. My wife had to spit it out. We informed the waitress and she served us two new oysters. But my wife didn't want any oysters after tasting the spoiled one. Another issue with the food was from the casual restaurant at the lobby. The bread we ordered had molds on it. I ordered the food to go to have enjoy it in our room so didn't bother filing a complaint. I really liked the sofa bed because it was ideal for toddlers since you can block all four sides with the cushions. However, the urine stain simply isn't tolerable at all 5 star hotel. Furthermore, when I notified the housekeeping staff of the issue. The only thing they did was to give a new sheet for me to put on the bed. They should have at least apologized and put the new sheet on themselves. The employees that get tipped, such as waiters and valet, were actually extremely friendly. But the overall service at the hotel absolutely need to improve. And i was visiting during not so busy days. read more

Decided to fly in for a mini weekend getaway with our kids. Great place to unplug & unwind. Absolutely loved our Blue Heron suite that was equipped with a nice welcome dessert, basket of snacks and a refrigerator stocked with beverages for us! The location of our room was perfect. Gorgeous view overlooking the golf course & away from the kids pool area! Plenty of amenities & activities for the family. Husband & son brought their clubs with them to use at the course. They have a shuttle that comes by every couple minutes that will take you down to the golf course. Pool area for the kids is amazing with 2 huge slides. They have cabanas & day beds available to rent for the day. Nice they have a separate adults-only pool with spectacular views! They also have salsa making & ceviche classes you can sign up for! Def will be looking into taking a class the next time we're back! Virtual Top-Golf is located on the main floor. But why go there when you can hit some balls at the golf range! We chilled by the cozy fire pit in the evening with our kids making smores! They have a market pantry on the resort that sells coffee & snacks; this is where we got our s'mores kit from! First time at this property, and at ANY Hyatt hotel brand. And I'm so elated to say that my stay was AMAZING! First off, I was upgraded to an ocean view room, Room 410. Nice room, comfortable bed, Le Labo Bergamot 22 toiletries in the bathroom, and super clean. No issues with room. Beautiful views and property! They have a great shop, pools, spa, and game room with 2 video games and pool table. This expansive property was posh. There's something for everyone at this Park Hyatt. Overall, the customer service was top notch! I really enjoyed myself, and yes, onto the next future Hyatt stay somewhere else. I highly recommend this Park Hyatt for everyone, especially families with small kids. I stayed here just before Easter, and it was spring break with lots of families. Lots to do here! Overall, I expected a lot more from a 5-star Park Hyatt. Pros - Staff is incredible. Everyone is so friendly, nice and helpful. Highly recommend the sushi at Pacific Point (which the front desk agent recommended). The hotel lobby is luxurious and beautiful. Valet is quick, easy and accommodating. Cons - We booked adjoining rooms for our family of 4. The room was very muggy and had a stale smell. It was generally clean but not pristine by any means. Towels felt old and long used. Pool area was decent but a bit run down. Pool chairs were dirty and had bird poop on them. Besides the lobby and main floor, the grounds seemed a little dirty and old. My son has asthma which triggered during our stay. I realized later the resort was dog friendly, which was my fault that I didn't look that up beforehand but as a warning to anyone with dog allergies (I have and love dogs, my son is just allergic). While the room walls were soundproof you could hear everything in the hallway. People and kids walking, running, talking, yelling down the halls into the night. Fine for adults but challenging for a family with young kids. I don't think we will stay here again, at least with kids. read more

Came here for a staycation, got to experience most of the resort, and can happily say this was a 5 star stay. We spent all our time onsite so got to eat at both restaurants and really enjoyed the pool and pool slides. SERVICE The service was excellent from check-in all the way through dining and pool service. Every employee we encountered was nothing but kind, hospitable, and helpful! Couldn't have asked for better service. ROOM We debated between the king bed + pull out queen sofa bed or two king-beds for our family of four. Went with the king bed+ pullout bed option because the room sizes were exactly the same, and we wanted that living space with the couch. It honestly turned out to be awesome because this was the most comfortable hotel pullout bed, and the kids slept so well on it. And it was nice to lounge in the living room when it wasn't being used. The room also had a keurig, complimentary bottled water, really plush bathrobes, and awesome shower pressure. FOOD They have an onsite coffee/pastry shop for grab n go items and snacks, a casual restaurant/bar with lots of patio seating overlooking beautiful views (their sushi rolls was great with generous portions), and their more upscale restaurant Ponto with fine dining + breakfast offerings. ACTIVITIES They have top golf at $40/pp (Fri to Sun) and $30/po (Mon-Thur), but we didn't try. They also have a pool/billiard and lounge/TV area where you can play and hang for free. You can also go golfing, etc. but we mostly hung around the pools and enjoyed the waterslides with our kids! We really had a wonderful time at the Park Hyatt Aviara and it has something for everyone. One of the best hotels in or around San Diego. Service, Property Grounds and Food - it scores 10/10 in all the departments. Highly recommend the pool side food. Excellent ! We also tried the weekend Baja Brunch at Ponto Lago and loved it ! This is going to be our regular SD hotel everytime we visit there ! read more

Christmas on the Green was a perfect event for our family of 7. They had beautiful decorations and trees! Live music. A magician. Yummy wood fire pizza. A train. Bouncy houses and a light show. Luxurious & relaxing! What else can one ask for? As you drive to the hotel, there's a round entrance way for cars to drive into and valet park. Valet park is the only option, no public parking is available (that I'm aware of) Upon walking inside the hotel, it's clean, bright, spacious and smells great! During the holidays, they sometimes have festive decor. During busy seasons, early check in is not available but they won't tell you that until you get there and you have to wait. This happened to us in July. For families, there are often events/activities for kids, lawn toys and the pools are awesome in the summer. They also have kids high chairs at the restaurant and step stools in the bathrooms. read more

First experience with a Park Hyatt and I have to say I am very impressed with the property, the service and outstanding food!!!! My wife attended a conference on the property and I came along for the ride, a trophy husband moment. Everything was just stunning. Impeccable service and each night's dinners were definitely not the usual hotel conference selections. Thank you. I have been a loyal Marriott customer for 32 years. Park Hyatt Aviara provided memorable experiences after a rough start. I stayed here for five days celebrating my parents' anniversary. I had envisioned an experience unlike any other and desperately desired everything to be perfect. While my expectations were not met I still left happy. The bad - I will get this out of the way first. The communication needs improvement. Numerous incidents happened that baffled and frustrated me. My parents' room was downgraded from the one I reserved for them. I received no explanation as to why and received a scripted apology. I signed up for a yoga class where the location was moved without any communication but with another scripted apology. My door was propped open at check-in; the security latch had been engaged on the open door so it rested open. Again, no explanation and another scripted apology. Listen - I get that the likelihood of anything nefarious was very low, but it really is unsettling and unexpected for a luxury hotel. But what I guess got me more was that I never felt like there was any empathy from the front desk when I would bring up these concerns. Every reply felt scripted. The shower water temperature was tepid in the morning and great in the evenings. Again, it happens, but it isn't common even in Hyatt Regencies so was a bit surprised. Now that the bad is out of the way let's focus on the good. The valet and the employees there were marvelous. They were personable, warm, and gave top notch service. I felt like every time I left the property they were invested in my day and every time I returned I was warmly welcomed. The restaurants - Pacific Point and Ponto Lago were incredible. The food, the service, the views - everything was great there. The housekeeping were like ninja - I never saw them but they made my room beautiful daily and provided fabulous turndown service nightly. We were always well stocked with water which I greatly appreciated. The room itself was palatial. The bed comfortable, the hotel quiet, and the bathtub divinely deep. Nightly I would soak in that tub and was always happiest there. Another example of the communication note but a good one was that the hotel left a bottle of sparkling wine and a package of macarons in my parents' room. We suspect it was for their anniversary but there was no note, no explanation. When I talked to the front desk about it - because my parents weren't sure if it was for them or was it extra or would they be charged - the front desk didn't know either. I was asked if they were celebrating, I said yes, and then I was told to enjoy. It was a bit bizarre. The spa was wonderful. Hands down that is an absolute must. Go to the spa. Just go. Oh! And take one of the classes! We went to a salsa making class and that was delightful! It was a small setting, the salsa delicious, and the chefs fantastic. Highly recommend. The salsa, spa, and restaurants all happened at the end of time I was there and all the bad stuff happened at the beginning. My irritations melted away by the end and I know in time completely forgotten. I don't think I'll ever return as an overnight guest but I would for Ponto Lago or for the classes and spa. read more

High tea was so disappointing, all the fiber sandwiches were dry and tasted terrible, they are trying to be extra fancy with some very untraditional food- but they definitely missed the mark. The single scone for each guest was a hard biscuit- so dry, so unappealing- and we all sat with empty teapots- with our server nowhere to be found. So odd- especially when you pay such a high price for High tea. $85 + $17 service charge per person. They even charged us an addl fee for sparkling water which we assumed was part of the fee already paid. No, $24 for two bottles of sparkling water. read more
