Very nice outdoor eatery at the One Hotel in Hanalei, Kauai. Walking into the hotel reminded me of the White Lotus series, beautiful hotel. The Sandbox was not busy surprisingly so we were seated right away. It's next to the pool area so it is very casual. Service was good, maitais delicious and the food was great. We settled on sharing some pizzas, salads, and futikake fries for the littles. Def would go back again.
This is a poolside bar at a truly beautiful hotel. When we were seated our server asked if we were guests of the hotel, but as soon as we said, no, her attitude changed. We put in our drink order (their version of a Paloma (5/5) and their coconut drink special (delicious), but she forgot to pick them up from the bar so we had already finished our appetizers (hummus and vegetables platter (3/5) and French Fries (5/5 - awesome) before our drinks arrived. For the mains, we tried the North Shore Pizza (garlic shrimp pizza 5/5 - great), Kale Cesar Salad (4.5/5 - fresh but plain) and the Chopped Harvest Salad (4.5/5 - but you have to like the strong vinegar taste). Again, she forgot to bring the Chopped Harvest Salad until everyone else was done with their meal. We actually had to just take it home. Maybe you get better service if you are a guest of the hotel but the food and location were quite good. We went at sunset which is beautiful. There was also a fire dancer who stopped by. Overall mixed experience. Not sure I would come back.
10/10 food, 10/10 service, 10/10 vibes (on the semi-casual vibes since it's by the pool) - the dinner menu is limited BUT that's okay because these pizza's are all you need!
This was a maze to get to and I would say my experience was average, but the price was steep. Apparently, when you ask for a simple tequila soda/sprite, it is more expensive than their crazy concoctions on the menu. One of the bartenders rolled their eyes at me when I asked for a lime to replace the grapefruit I was given in my drink. Other bartenders were very friendly. I only got their Ahi Nachos, which they messed up the first time, and I thought they were good. I've had better, but I've also had worse. If they decrease the sweet chili sauce and increase the amount of avocado, the dish would have been soo much better. The ahi was fresh at least. Based on the proportions I was seeing of what other people ordered, most of the portions do not equal the price. I would say the ahi nachos and the pizza were the only exceptions I saw, but the pizza looks very doughey from what I could see.
Sandbox is such a fun pool bar and a perfect spot to hang out for the day. The drinks were delicious and definitely didn't disappoint. Brandon took care of us all day and he was absolutely fabulous. If you're into Long Island Iced Teas or mojitos, he makes them really well and doesn't skimp. Nice and strong in the best way. We didn't try the food this time, but we ended up meeting some great people sitting at the bar which added to the whole vibe. They also have two TVs, which is a nice bonus if you want to keep an eye on a football game while you're sipping a drink by the pool. Super relaxed, friendly atmosphere and a spot I'd happily come back to.
This restaurant is located by the beach within the 1Hotel Hanalei Bay. They have valet parking available which was luckily free if you're just going to eat at the restaurant. The food and drinks were tasty- my fiancee had the peperoni pizza and I had the kauai greens salad with hulihuli chicken, and we tried the lilikoi spritz for drinks! This is probably one of the nicest beach views in Hanalei so definitely recommend a stop here for dinner with a breathtaking view.
I can see why the Sandbox has such high ratings We were staying at the 1 Hotel (where this is located) and came here twice during our trip. They have a seated area, but you can also get their food/drinks if you are lounging at the pool since they have someone from the restaurant coming around often. There aren't very many good food options in Princeville, and this was definitely the best we had, so I was glad we were staying at the hotel. We came for lunch one day and got the sandbox burger and the healthy bowl. The burger was definitely my favorite! It was smash burger style and not too messy, and the fries were perfect. The healthy bowl just had way too much rice, and the dressing was a bit too creamy for me. We also came another night for dinner and ordered a bbq chicken pizza and crispy shrimp which was on a special menu. Both were just ok for us but if we were to go back again, I'd just go for the burger

We came here to lounge by the pool area enjoy the cool weather outdoors by the bar. We sat up at the bar and our bartender was kind and friendly full of Hawaii vibes. He found out it was our honeymoon so he gave us a free drink. All their drinks were great. We tried: -Mai Tai that came with Koloa Kauai White Rum, Koloa Kauai Dark Rum, pineapple juice, dry orange curacao, mac nut orgeat, with lime -My favorite was their Frose Pink Flamingo which was SO GOOD! This came with Rose, Titos Vodka, guava, and lilet This was a great place to sit and grab a drink to relax and enjoy the Hawaiian sun.
We had reservations here for our first night on Kauai. We loved our experience. The location is stunning. You have to use the hotels valet service, it is $20 for 4 hours. If you don't want to use valet you can find parking but be prepared to walk a bit. Our server was fantastic and our food was great!

The food at the Sand Box is a tad pricey, but food is excellent, especially considering that poolside food is usually horrible! Eric was our server on all three visits and he's great at his job.....he's friendly and calm even if he's mostly the main server and swamped with customers. We had the Ono Margarita, Lava Flow, Frose Pink Flamingo Frozen Cocktail and a Guava Lava Cider. For food we had the Hulihuli Chicken pizza, the Greek tomato salad, and the Tempura Shrimp Street Tacos. This is a fantastic poolside bar with great music. On our next trip back we are excited to try one kitchen!

Such a nice restaurant right by the pool! We started with the kampachi and Wagyu Merguez, both were delicious! For our entrees, we got the truffle pasta and the snapper. The snapper wasn't too fishy and had a really good sauce, but I definitely enjoyed the pasta more! We ended with the chocolate dessert since we were celebrating my birthday and that was probably the best part!! So good. Service was awesome, our server was kind and attentive. I'd definitely come back for the vibes, view, and good food! The menu is a little small, but everything we tried was tasty and did not disappoint. read more

Exceptional service from Aleah, Hiílanií, Branden & Kyle! The bartenders at Sandbox at 1 Hotel Hanalei are truly outstanding. Every time I'm there, they manage to stay calm, composed, and professional even when things get busy, while still making every guest feel welcomed and taken care of. Aleah, Hiílanií, Branden, and Kyle each bring such a warm, inviting personality to the experience. They're attentive without being overbearing, genuinely friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. You can tell they care about creating a great experience, not just serving a drink. Their ability to maintain that level of hospitality under pressure is impressive and really sets them apart. They make Sandbox feel relaxed, welcoming, and special. A fantastic team and a true reflection of the hospitality you hope for at 1 Hotel Hanalei. Highly recommend! read more

The location by the pool at 1 Hotel is fantastic, especially if you're staying there. It was a busy day, so the service was a bit slow, so make sure to allow enough time to soak in the relaxing atmosphere! For drinks, I had the Frose and Makana Mana. I started with chips and guacamole, and for lunch, I enjoyed the hulihuli pizza without bacon and with added pineapple. Everything was delicious, especially the pizza! read more
Best meal we had during our vacation on Kauai! The Sandbox is located inside of the 1 Hanalei Bay Resort. You have to valet park and then if you get turned around the very helpful hotel staff will point you in the right direction. Located poolside, with an ocean view, The Sandbox is a relaxing, beautiful, open air spot to have lunch. We were seated right away, no reservation, and brought to our table. Our server let us know right away that they were having an issue with their POS system so things would be running a little more slowly. No problem, we were on island time! I started with the Polynesian Prince cocktail, which was delicious. My meal was the Sandbox Smashburger with fries. Easily the best hamburger I've had in ages! Fries were crispy and delicious. Our server also offered us the pizza special which was a truffle and chicken pizza. Amazing! There is also a pool bar close by the restaurant to enjoy a drink and if you have time, wander around the property, it is a beautiful resort. read more
We were in Kauai and it was a very rainy day and we were looking for lunch options and my wife found The Sandbox. Let me say the view coming down the hotel to the pool area where The Sandbox is located is amazing. Just going to the restaurant to see the view is totally worth it. The service was great, our server was attentive and made a rainy, windy day better by serving us great food! read more

Doesn't get any better than this - lunch on the beach with the most incredible view. Down at the pool makes it a fun afternoon spot for drinks and small bites, but their pizza is absolutely incredible. Not sure what they are doing to it, but as someone who has traveled and eaten a lot of pizza, this is easily in the top 3 best I've ever had. Good service whether you're at the bar, poolside, or seated at a table. The bbq chicken pizza is my personal favorite, but the tacos and fresh crudite are great as well read more

This is by far the best restaurant in Princeville. First of all, the service is impeccable. Everyone goes above and beyond at The Sandbox. Their pizza is the best. The man who makes them all day is really awesome. He's so nice, he even took a beautiful picture of us at sunset from his outdoor kitchen. And of course, the view is to die for. We went there twice while we stayed at The 1 Hotel which by the way is 5 stars all the way. We ordered pizzas both times. And one night, the chef made an incredible grilled shrimp salad special. All in all, I give it 10 stars. read more

While staying at the One hotel we had the pleasure of meeting Robert who was making fresh firewood pizza. The pizza is 10/10 and that's coming from a NJ resident. What really made the experience was Robert! He was a pleasure to talk to and a very kind soul. Would highly recommend. (We asked for extra char on the pizza). read more

One of the best burgers we've had. The 1 Burger is a must try! The Sandbox is the outside dining area next to the pool located inside The 1 Hotel. Food and drinks were bomb. Scenery was nice. Very casual pool vibe ambiance. read more
