I had a complete front job done. They were busier than expected when I arrived so had to wait a bit. I wanted them to check my brakes and I wasn't surprised when they recommended a complete front brake job, my car has 104k miles and I use my brakes. There are some things that are hard to find. A mechanics' shop that is honest, knowledgeable and has competitive prices is one of them. The owners of the Rustic Wrench, Mike and Thomas, are hands on owners. They are both very knowledgeable about diagnosing your vehicles problem/s and knowing exactly what it takes to repair them. I have brought them both of my vehicles (on a recommendation from another customer). They gave me estimates on a variety of repairs that were needed on both of my vehicles. I have never had a mechanic tell me "not all the repairs were urgent". I also had brought my wife's car to a dealer, three times regarding the front end, and how bad it rode. They replaced the front strut mounts and shocks. When I got the car back it still rode the same as when I brought it in. They looked at it three times and said they couldn't see and problems. A mechanic at The Rustic Wrench took a look at it and told me that the whole rack and pinion steering system was worn out and had to be replaced. After the repair the car ride like the day I bought it (new). I could not be more pleased or satisfied with their workmanship and professionalism. I have already recommended them to other people looking for a good mechanics' shop. And recommendations are something that I rarely do, unless I'm absolutely confident in the recommendation. Took my truck to Mike to have a couple of leaks addressed as well as a new turbo installed. His shop took great care of my truck at a reasonable cost. Picked up my truck and found I had a small air leak that popped up after the new turbo was installed. They fixed it and wouldn't even let me pay for the parts let alone the labor. I am new to Arizona so I went on a community Facebook page to ask for recommendations to get my brakes fixed. Rustic Wrench fixed them just fine, that is not my problem. My problem is that they came to me with an estimate of over $4000 worth of things my car so-called needed. It's a 2009 and not even worth $4000. I had them just fix the brakes. Then I went and got a second opinion and found that what is only really needed is about $300 worth of work. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed that they took advantage of a middle-aged woman that doesn't know anything about cars and has limited income, (which I told them about), that is how I feel anyway. read more

I went there today for an oil change and I have to say Mike worked on my truck and really did a great job. Plus while Mike was going above and beyond for me Thomas called Toyota to check on any recalls(I didn't even ask him to). When I was all finished up, I was sent out with a receipt for today's service and an other print out of recommended services with a break down on prices. I came to this location looking for a particular vehicle that I knew a lot about into vintage cars so I thought I'd give it a try I was saddened to see young guys not knowing a damn thing about these cars looking at the computer every question I ask to verify not knowing what the hell I'm asking and to put it mildly way way way over price gouging the consumer no wonder there's less cool cars on the road everyone is trying to make a buck this car was a free car given to a family and they end up wanting to make a big buck how sad how rude these guys don't know anything about vintage cars at least my salesman didn't with what I would have to do to this car to make it safe for the road with brakes and steering and basic things would put me 20 K in debt after being gouged 20 or 30 K over what it should be this is a scam and it's rude I'm an avid car person and I find this disgusting and I think that these places should go out of business because they're ruining the vintage car business by overpricing just because it's shiny and looks nice don't go here unless you want to spend 20 or 30 grand more than you should read more

I want to start off saying this is a good review and a bad review. My trucks transmission went out recently and I took it to The Rustic Wrench to get it repaired, and while it was there I asked them to just change the oil and check the alignment as well. They were very friendly and they rebuilt my transmission in house and did a great job. Unfortunately a day after I got my truck back I notice it had a pretty good leak near the front driver side tire (my truck never had a leak before)... i called they said no problem they would take a look just drop it back off. They said it was leaking from the pressure line on the power steering and also had a leak in the rack and pinion and they never touched them so they wouldn't cover the repair and it would be more than a $1k to replace both the line and the whole rack and pinion after just spending around $3k. The pressure line I understand it was old may have got bumped not their fault there. I would eat that cost it's a $20 part and an hr worth of work, BUT the rack and pinion most certainly gets touch in an alignment and never leaked before (they don't just start leaking when they are bumped).... I didn't expect them nor did I ask them to replace the rack and pinion I just wanted the leak fixed is all. I feel that is fair! Now I will be climbing under my truck in my apartment parking lot and fixing the leak myself! Again my transmission works great and I wish I could give them a 5star review, but I can't do that when I have to be climb underneath my truck and fix a leak in the rack and pinion that wasn't there before. I wasn't asking for a bunch of free work I was just asking for what I believe is right and fair, and I think any of them would feel the same if their own vehicle was leak free and came back with multiple leaks. read more

I've been to the Rustic Wrench probably over 2 dozen times this last 2 years. I found them as recommended on NextDoor... I am so glad I found them. They are absolutely, hands down, the most trustworthy shop around. They have done everything on my vehicles from suspension work to the common oil change, thermostat, brakes, and even replacing bulbs on my headlights. Their work is far more reasonably priced than any dealership, not to mention they get you in as quick as possible. Every time I visit, I have my 5 kids with and they never give me an issue - Dawn is by far the BEST front desk receptionist I have met in years, and my kids love her (and she treats them like they are the most special kids around!). I rarely, if ever, leave reviews but I feel like these guys deserve accolades for the work they do. To top it all off... they are Veterans.
