The woman bartender is not nice. I once put $5. In the jukebox so I could play some songs and she let these 2 young guys override so that their music would play instead of mine. Ok, rustic is part of the name, so know going in that is not a elegant eating establishment. Bologna sandwich with fries was on the special board, and I asked if it was fried. Answer: DEEP fried or grilled. Now I am intrigued. I had an eager look on my face, and I was assured, "Honey, deep fried is the way to go." I added an over-medium egg, cheese and mustard. The fries came out fast, and could have used another minute in the fryer for my preference. But they were krinkle cut which I always enjoy. And the paper boat held WAY more than I expected or needed. And then the sandwich arrived on a tiny paper. Unpretentious yet magnificent! The bologna edges had crisped to perfection. The mustard, egg yolk and American cheese blended to golden bliss as I enjoyed this sandwich. The server was very friendly to our table of obviously out-of-towners. I am pretty sure the staff knew all the other customers by name. I debated on the 5-star review, but the place is a dive bar with good food. So I would want others to come after me to know it isn't fine dining. Going in, knowing what to expect will give others a good chance of enjoying this establishment! read more

When you walk in it looks just like a bar, but you will be pleasantly surprised. The kitchen is right in front of you and it makes me comfortable knowing that I can see how my food is being made. Love three open kitchen!! Now the server/bartender/busboy/everything (she was working alone) she was great!!! Fast service and friendly, the reason you come to small mom and pop places like this. They always have a great selection of draft beer, we really enjoyed the IPA that the bar tender recommended for us. This place is a gem, and if you travel through this area you should def check it out You can watch your food being made on the grill behind the bar. Mostly a lot of fried food, like carnival food. Loaded tater wedges, and curly fries. The coleslaw tastes just like KFC there aren't really any vegetarian options on the menu, but they didn't mind accommodating us we got the pizza hoagie with a variety of fried veggies in leu of hamburger. It melted right through the bun and had to be eaten with a fork, but it was so fantastic. So much fun here! read more

Quick stop on our way to Indiana, so glad we did! Great service and yummy food. My husband and I both had the Breakfast balls, whoever invented this is a genius. Please don't come here if you are a snob, won't work for you. This is basically a bar, clearly frequented by the locals and we liked that. Friendly, quick service, wish it was closer to our home. Awful service for lunch. Sat for 45 minutes waiting on my sandwich. Waitress never stopped to check on me or refill my drink. The cook finally noticed that I needed a refill and helped me out. First night at the Rustic and I was punched in the face. I beat a guy in pool and I mentioned I was an arm wrestler. Everyone at his table were his friends and encouraged him to arm wrestle match and I won. It didn't take long after that when his friends were just as upset as him that he lost the pool match and the other match. At that point it was about 8 college friends that followed his lead and were upset as well. After that his friends congregated around the pool tables and got very hostile towards me. I went to him and said "No hard feelings brother" and he said "Its ok". I couldn't have been more wrong. I tried to ignore them and just order drinks at the bar but by the end of the night one of his friends was in my face and asking "Where are you from". He was being very aggressive so I told him that It was none of his business. It was near closing time and he punched me in the face after I refused to say where I was from. He took offense that I wouldn't answer. I left shortly after. I was quickly shown the door even though he hit me. I don't know if the Rustic is a place where the regulars can do whatever they want. I don't know if I should go back. Not sure what to make of it. If you win in pool or anything else expect to be considered an outsider if your good. Your best bet is to either lose or make friends slowly so you don't get jumped outside.The last thing I recall is him looking at me after I was punched from the inside window and was sneering at me. I did find a couple from the bar thought the punch was uncalled for and congregated around me outside. I still went in shortly to pay my tab. read more
