What a great venue for a wedding! The site itself was stunning and the entire staff were helpful and generous with their time and talents. Planning a large event could have been stressful, The Ruins staff made it seamless and calm. This venue provided everything I needed for my dream wedding.

Hidden jewel in Seattle in which we spent a society-sponsored event. Externally, the place is almost not recognizable as a desirable entry. But the inside was a mixture of castle and theater place. Cool and an unparalleled option to sit down and spend chatting with friends and colleagues. I am not sure whether the food was created there or catered to the place.

I went to a wedding here and couldn't imagine a more beautiful and intimate venue! It was like we had stepped into another realm!

My wife and I had our wedding at the Ruins and it was absolutely wonderful. If you don't already know, The Ruins has their own wedding planner, their own florist, and their own catering. Not having to shop around to find those separately helped a lot, and all of them are fantastic at their jobs. Madeline, the wedding planner for The Ruins, deserves every kind and wonderful word that has been on every review we have read. Planning a wedding is stressful, but every time we spoke with or met with Madeline, there was always some stress relieved because of how on top of everything she was and how confident she made us feel about our wedding. Her communication was always top notch, and she was always available to answer questions when we had them. During the day of the wedding, she kept things moving smoothly. Sarah, the Events Coordinator also did a great job working with Madeline to keep everything moving as well. The florist, Amanda, did a fantastic job with understanding the ambience we were going for in our conversations, and when we saw everything in person, she absolutely knocked it out of the park. The catering was delicious, our guests raved about the food. While my wife and I are both meat-loving omnivores, we had a number of guests that have dietary restrictions, and it was very easy to have delicious gluten-free and vegan options for them. They no longer have an in-house bakery, but they take care of the cake through Morfey's, and it turned out perfectly - both with how it looked and how it tasted. The photos on their website (as beautiful as they are) just can't compare with seeing the venue in person. There is a personality to the venue that is elegant, artistic and timeless. The ballroom is especially breathtaking. Our photographer said that the Ruins was so visually captivating that he couldn't take a bad shot if they tried. Our guests were so impressed with the beauty, uniqueness, and classiness of the venue, and stated it absolutely fit with my wife and I's unique style. Despite having our wedding during the pandemic, Madeline and the staff at the Ruins did a fantastic job navigating the changes and mandates that we were subject to, and ensuring us that we had a beautiful and unforgettable experience. I would recommend anyone to have their wedding or event at the Ruins. Not just because of the how visually impressive the venue is, but because everyone who works there does a fantastic job of making sure your event is perfect.

I would recommend the Ruins and specifically, venue manager Madeline, to all brides. We had a wonderful experience working with Madeline over 5-6 months planning our wedding. Not only is Madeline a truly wonderful person, but she was also patient, calm, a great communicator, offered expert advice and was a huge support to us. She had our best interests in mind and was really accommodating and understanding when COVID disrupted our plans and decisions. The venue itself is stunning, quirky, and so unique. We loved that there are 3 different rooms to utilize and create surprise and delight for guests when you transition from ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. There is nowhere else in Seattle that can even compare to the vibe of the space. Bonus - you won't need much décor in this space because of all the character already in it! As Madeline was out of the state on our wedding day (sad!), we had Sarah as our day-of venue manager, and she did a great job. All the staff, especially the bartenders, on the wedding day were attentive and fantastic. Our guests were totally blown away by this venue they had no idea existed. The only iffy experience we had was during our paid two tastings where we weren't super impressed with the food. To our surprise, the food on the wedding night was much better and only got a couple comments on the flank steak being chewy. Looking back on the wedding day, I am so glad we chose that venue and that we got to work with Madeline during it. Book it!

Dining in Wonderland with Alice. I think for people to truly appreciate the restaurant you'd have to have dined at this place years ago when the dining experience was very exclusive and Seattle's wonderful cuisine life had not hit the NW yet. Not to say this place isn't fine dining. It is uniquely fine dining. Back then the Ruins was a very well kept secret and hardly anyone knew about it, this place felt like a secret retreat from mainstream dining. Now it seems to have become a novelty that people are hyped up for and get disappointed after they eat there meal and go home. Membership has grown and it feels less and less like a members only club. I do believe more people should be allowed to enjoy the food at this club, it is a shame that this diamond in the rough is exclusively for members and there guest only. In my opinion this restaurants success weighs heavily on the dining experience, more so than the food. This is not to discredit the food. The food is excellent and can be unique at times. There use to be revolving chefs that cooked different menu items, but that no longer is the case. I've seen the same chef cooking there for about a year now. For those who don't know, the menu changes every few months with a few staple items that are always on the menu. Beef wrapped in Bacon, grilled perfectly with hand cut fries and french onion soup. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I have ordered here. If you have the opportunity to go, while you sit down at your table, close your eyes, open them and soak in the attention to detail, the ambiance and think about all the craft and hard work that went into building this restaurant. This might help someone appreciate the importance of atmosphere and the complete fine dining experience that this restaurant truly provides. On a serious note...Where else can anyone find a life sized mechanical elephant from the worlds fair that still works?

Like a book, this is so much more on the inside than the outside. From the outside The Ruins looks like just that, an old warehouse building with trees growing out the broken windows. But once you get inside your transported to an opulent space where you can grab a drink and wander through various rooms with beautiful art, ornate furniture, a grand piano and foliage of all kinds. We saw Sam Morton sing some country songs, he was extremely funny, soulful and had a unique stage presence. Would love to come back here again.

From the beginning Megan has been one of the most reassuring and comforting things about wedding planning. If not the only thing at times. Megan paid for herself at our very first meeting with our location and catering vendor. She saw something in the signed contract that entailed us to a better food package. Not just better food selections but more of it. When the vendor said it was a typo and they would fix it she said 'nope this is the contract that you had them sign. Typo or not you need to stick to this, they are entitled to this food at this price.' At that point in wedding planning i was so beyond exhausted i absolutely would have just rolled over and let the vendor adjust the signed contract. She stuck to her guns and we got the benefit of it. Woo Hoo We have the Week of Package, which really means that she takes over several weeks out. Following up with our vendors and asking me questions about details I never would have considered. Megan as been available for all of the silly questions and concerns that we have had and is prompt in her email response. She is able to offer suggestions on everything, babysitters in the area, vendors, when to do things, how to include family wishes along side our own, how to get Dicks Cheese Burgers to your wedding reception and everything in between. Megan is so friendly and easy to work with, she is prompt and organized. You just want to be her friend. I can not imagine getting through this wedding process without her, and its not even over yet. Megan made everything work. As I was standing in my dress with my flowers about to walk down the isle I turned to my mom and said 'how would we have done this without Megan?' She said 'We wouldn't!' She was so right! Megan did so many things that made all the difference that I didn't know about. She was the first one there and the last one out. She loaded gifts and flowers and all kinds of things into car at the end of the evening. We are not Washington natives and our wedding is in Washington so that presented us a unique set of challenges in planning our wedding. We felt compelled to hire a coordinator that is local, and has experience with the venue we chose which is why Krisanna was our prime option. Planning: We officially started working with Krisanna about 3 months out of the wedding date if memory serves. She kept us organized and curated a list of all our vendors with contacts and created a wedding timeline with details for us. As we approached the wedding date we were able to slowly take our foot off the pedal and allow her to drive for us which was helpful. Overtime the she was almost 100% in charge of dealing with the vendors and only came to us with important decisions. She's well versed with our venues guidelines and layout, so she would intentionally call out pitfalls that we can easily avoid due to the institutional knowledge that she has which we really appreciated. She's responsive over text and emails when we has questions or thoughts we wanted to communicate to her. Execution: Fast forward to the day of the wedding, we literally didn't keep our phones on us at all since she's the main point of contact for the day. We were able to enjoy the day without having to bear any logistical burden knowing that she's around. Overall: 100% you need to hire Krisanna for your wedding. I was chaotic and had no clear ideas, but I did have a few very hard requests: I wanted color, I wanted texture, and I wanted everything to be cohesive, all wrapped up in an intimate dinner party feel. Oh, and lots of string lights!! She was grounding throughout the entire planning process and made accommodations more times than I can count. Honestly, I've lost track of everything she pulled off. To give you a small taste: our guest list fluctuated so much that she spent hours reworking the schematics just to fit everyone in the reception space I had envisioned. Then we changed that layout again about a month ish before the wedding. I also completely changed the ceremony site on her two weeks before the big day. We were extremely late deciding on catering. And on top of all of this, I had a medical emergency that lasted two hours on the wedding day. It probably sounds like I was a bridezilla, but not once did she hesitate to be kind, gentle, and compassionate. She was so communicative and generous with her time, always answering messages promptly even when I would flood her phone with every intrusive thought or idea at the most ridiculous times of day. She didn't just take on the role of coordinator. She was my sounding board, my designer, my counselor when I needed to rant, my project manager, all the things, all at once. She even designed all of our stationery and day-of signage. Like, how? How can one person do it all?!?! So many people told me it was the best wedding they'd ever attended, and the design and flow of the day were immaculate- and that is in huge part thanks to her!! Krisanna, thank you so much. The day would not have been a fairytale if it wasn't for you!!!! -Mia, 2026 Bride

Amber was there every step of the way, handled everything seamlessly, and went above and beyond to ensure we ended up having the best wedding. When we were first interviewing wedding planners after we had gotten engaged (2018), Amber came extremely prepared with examples of her work and sample files of how she plans/executes weddings. She was head and shoulders above anyone else we interviewed and we immediately knew she was the one. During the planning process, Amber was always there to answer my endless amount of questions and help me with my extreme indecisiveness. She is very organized and kept us on track for all things for our wedding (both financially and timeline-wise). She is very honest and all her recommendations for vendors were the absolute best/you couldn't go wrong with any of them. We were able to put our full trust in her very early on. When it came to design, Amber is very creative and has a great eye for everything. We had a very unconventional vision to capture the surreal vibe inspired by a horror movie called Annihilation (very colorful florals that don't exist in real-life and kind of have a weird/creepy vibe about them) and Amber was completely on board. We also added the extra complication of having so many different hanging installations for the florals and the lighting (a big disco ball installation with chandeliers) . She recommended the vendors that she thought would go best with our vision and we really ended up with the ultimate dream team. When finalizing design, I had a couple reservations about some of her color choices, but we ended up going with it and it couldn't have been more perfect. She is truly an expert! With the pandemic, she seamlessly handled coordinating with our vendors and was completely there for us even though she had the busiest wedding season of all time this past summer (2 wedding seasons in 1). We are truly grateful for all the work she had put in when her bandwidth was spread as thin as it was. In our final coordination meetings with all our vendors leading up to our wedding day, she really showcased her expertise by asking all the right questions to ensure everyone was prepared to have things running smoothly the day of. Without this, we honestly would have missed so many things and not have been able to enjoy our wedding day ourselves. Fast forward to our wedding day, her day of coordination was impeccable. I was relaxed the entire day and knew I could trust her with everything. We fully enjoyed our entire wedding day/night and were able to eat and party without any concerns. With the amount of coordination that was required from the many different vendors and the countless amount of installations that had be installed that day (lighting, SO many floral installations, etc.), it truly was executed perfectly. She was also just the best energy to have around and I cannot think of a single issue that happened. I highly recommend Amber as a planner, designer, and/or day-of coordinator for any of your event needs. She is very knowledgeable, organized (a perfectionist!), creative, responsive, and just an overall wonderful person. She goes above and beyond for all her clients and has a great eye for any type of design. Having her be in our lives for the past 3 years has been the best and we are so grateful to have met her and worked with her on our wedding.
