But it was near the door to the outside, so there was not a stopper on it, and it was slam shut, which was not great in the middle of the night. I am a very light sleeper so I do take accountability for that, and the refrigerator made warring growling noise quite a bit through the night. So I did not get a good night sleep which I was hoping for. The breakfast was wonderful. Staff was absolutely phenomenal and help. Teddy was a great help getting everything situated and giving me the information on when breakfast was when check out was where my room was located. It was definitely not his fault that there was only one room left since there were weddings and other events in the area. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was large and the room was very clean which is a huge thing for me. I have to have clean and sanitized. Overall, very good. I think just the sounds is something that may or may not be from the area and possibly age of the hotel that being said I took my pen sleep and consideration. I did have a bit of a sticker shock on pricing. I got a discount, but it's very interesting. How much it cost for a hotel room here. Virginia is not inexpensive.

We were in…read moretown for a family reunion and hosted a dinner party at SMI one evening that was among the highlights of the family weekend. Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!

From the moment…read morewe arrived, it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully planned with care and intention. Head Chef Aaron curated a beautiful five-course menu for us in advance, and every single course was exceptional. The flavors were perfectly balanced, creative, and comforting all at once -- each dish flowed seamlessly into the next and left us genuinely impressed. It was one of those meals where you pause, smile, and truly savor every bite. Pastry Chef Ebony not only created a custom anniversary cake for us -- which was absolutely delicious -- but she was also our server for the evening. Her attentiveness, warmth, and genuine care made our night feel even more special. She anticipated every need and added such a personal touch to the entire experience. We were also deeply touched by the personalized menu designed for our celebration, which read, "Happy Anniversary -- cheers to one." That simple yet thoughtful gesture meant so much to us. Sous Chef Diego and the entire team contributed to an atmosphere that felt warm, intimate, and welcoming. The ambiance was beautiful and private, and the complimentary sparkling wine was the perfect way to celebrate such an important milestone. This was our first anniversary -- the beginning of many more to come -- and Blue Rock made sure it was unforgettable. Every detail, every flavor, and every gesture reflected genuine care. We cannot recommend this place enough and are already looking forward to returning.

Hilton Garden Inn Haymarket - Guest room bath

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Haymarket, VA from 11/12 to 11/14 for our wedding…read moreweekend. We also coordinated a group room block for our guests. While check-in went fine, the rest of our experience was extremely disappointing and far below what we expected from a Hilton property, especially during such an important time. The night before the wedding, my guests and I felt genuinely unwelcome in the lobby and lounge areas. Staff repeatedly approached us with unnecessary restrictions, including telling us we couldn't drink White Claws from the can even though the hotel sells the exact same product at the bar, and telling us we couldn't take pictures in the lobby. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere for what should have been a celebratory moment. On the morning of the wedding, things became even worse. While I was getting ready for the ceremony, the front desk repeatedly called my hotel phone demanding that I complete a credit card authorization form for mimosas we had planned for the bridal party. I didn't receive the authorization form until 10:18 AM the same day, which is unacceptable given that this should have been handled well in advance. My card was already on file from check-in, and the staff knew it was my wedding morning, yet the calls continued. This was an unnecessary and stressful disruption. To make matters worse, despite explicitly instructing them to charge the card on my room and completing the authorization form with that same card, the hotel charged a completely different card--my wife's personal card from her separate room the night before. That card was never authorized for these charges, and we were never given an itemized bill explaining the charges. My wife and her bridesmaids also felt uncomfortable and scrutinized by staff. They were told they couldn't have food in the conference room we booked and again told they couldn't take pictures in the lobby. Instead of being met with hospitality and grace on a day meant to be joyful and memorable, they felt restricted and unwelcome. Overall, the lack of hospitality, the inconsistent and unnecessary rules, the disruptions on the morning of the wedding, and the mishandling of our billing made this an extremely negative experience. This was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime weekend for us and our guests, and the hotel added stress instead of support. I hope management takes these issues seriously so future guests, especially wedding parties, don't go through the same treatment. After our stay, we attempted to resolve these concerns through multiple channels, including calling the hotel directly and contacting Hilton Corporate. The only response we received was that an itemized bill would be sent to us and that no further compensation or remediation would be provided with no real apology for our experience. We still have not received the itemized bill we were promised, which only adds to the frustration and lack of professionalism we experienced throughout this process.

The main manor house, built around 1814, still captivates with its rustic English style. The farmhouse was originally a different, much older house that unfortunately burnt down a few years ago, but was rebuilt with a stunning modern farmhouse style. The main house is rumored to be haunted, with many staff members, including myself, experiencing it. All the spirits seem to be friendly... so far. Marriott Ranch no longer provides horseback riding since the pandemic, but they are in search of horses and someone to lead the guides. If you're interested, give them a call! Keep in mind that this is a rustic getaway, not a place to sit in your room and watch TV. Go out and explore the gorgeous 4,000+ acres, with rivers to explore, cows to say hi to, and an amazing staff willing to give Jeep tours. I couldn't recommend Marriott Ranch more. I have a huge love and respect for the property and its history.
