They always have fresh veggies, a salad bar with rotating ingredients, a soup, and several desserts in addition to the main entrees. They have a vegan/vegetarian main in addition to mains that include meat. Honestly, the side dishes and veggies are a hit everytime. I found myself going back for more. The meaty mains can be a hit or miss. Loved the steak, but found that some of the chicken and fish were overcooked. Service was absolutely amazing. Multiple wait staff who come around asking for your drink order and they are quick with additional requests, should you have any. We also had a bonfire night complete with the s'mores package. They give you quality ingredients that's for sure, because those were some of the best s'mores I've ever had!

I love that they grow so much on their land and use such fresh ingredients. The employees are incredibly helpful and nice. The buildings and rooms quaint and nice. The property is truly a treasure. I was sad to see only one swan there this year. I'm not sure if the others passed away but I'd think they would at least have a pair and hope the swan isn't lonely. I saw so much beautiful wildlife and I always feel so much more peaceful when I'm on this property. I don't know if I'll make it back to another conference here but I hope this wasn't my last one because I've cherished the moments! If it is, I hope to just book a trip to visit in the future! Thanks for the beautiful memories Airlie!

Don't listen to the other review - there is PLENTY to do in Front Royal and as I've always said,…read morebooks are for losers. But, we'll get to that later. Just spent a phenomenal weekend here at the Lackawanna and was so sad when I had to leave. The house is cozy and beautiful. The rooms spacious and inviting. The breakfast was yummers and the owners went above and beyond as hosts for the weekend. We stayed in the Charles Suite which boasts a private bathroom and separate room. Perfect for a couple traveling with child or a group having that 3rd wheel. Highly recommend. The B&B is large but only holds 3 rooms making breakfast time quaint. Phil and Sandy, the owners, were fabulous hosts. We actually found a stray cat and they helped us take her home. My dress broke and Sandy sewed up my straps. It was probably the best 5 star service I have had a hotel. There is also a beautiful garden/backyard area, pool, firepit, relaxing porch, lovely sitting room, wine bar, water bar and basically anything you want from the kitchen. By far, one of the most relaxing and awesome stays I've had on a vacation. Highly recommend. Circling back to things to do in Front Royal, here is what we did: Dinosaur Land, Wine Tasting @ Wineries (take a cab from Yellow Cab. Super cheap!), Horseback riding, Skyline Drive, Skyline Caverns, Town festivals, Civil War trails, dinner at Wine and Duck. PLENTY to do.

The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept on. The linen were 500 count sheets. The bath had Egyptian cotton towels and robes. The food was good. Our hosts accommodated our being vegetarians nicely. The building is a registered historical place. Built in 1869 by an industrialist from Scranton, PA, it has an interesting story. Phil and Sandra renovated the building over the past 10 years and have a picture album to share that experience and the history of the house. Visiting Front Royal in February limits the activities one can get involved with but we found two good used book stores (Royal Oak and Page Master) to browse through, and a good local restaurant (Element) for dinner. In addition, Main Street has a number of interesting shops and eateries to visit. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the friendly owners, and would recommend this business to others.

We had a decent experience here, with the exception of the mildew/mold smell, that smacked us in the face as soon as we walked in. From that, to the loose flickering lights, loose wall outlets, and it not being the cleanest of cabins. We certainly tried to make the best of what i ended up paying $645 to rent out for the wknd of Nov 15th. So much so, we had to go out and spend even more money, for an air purifier... air sanitizing spray... and scented wall plug ins. Just to try and sanitize the air and mask the smell, making it a little more tolerable. So my birthday, our anniversary, and also now engaged/engagement wknd, wasn't a complete bust! Besides the issues with what i just mentioned. What i find to be more troublesome and just plain careless! When i addressed this via email to Tom, one of the owners of these cabins, at email - HotTubHeaven@yahoo.com I never received any response! Not your typical/automatic sorry about yalls experience in our cabin, or welp sucks to be you, nope no response what so ever! The kicker is, my gal Amber has a rare genetic lung condition called alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. So things like dust, certain pet dander, smoke, and absolutely mold/mildew in the air. Is very hard on her lungs and her body! She is now nearly a wk later, starting to feel a small amount of relief. From our wknd getaway to hot tub (not quite) heaven! Disclaimer: My review herein, is not to get any kind of future free stays. As we are not interested! It's also not to get any money back. As funds received should definitely be used, to take much better care of cabins! Nor is it to cause Tom and Deneane to loose business. It is simply to make others aware of potential conditions as these. When it comes to cabins in the woods that aren't very well maintained, updated, cleaned thoroughly, and rented out with the utmost care! Thank you for taking the time to read my review!

We were very surprised that so many of the sites are not level and the one we had been assigned had our new camper when we were trying to attempt to get it level started moving down the hill. (note-stay out of any site with 80 in it) Not something you want to happen to 35k of your hard earned cash! We did change sites, which came with a cost. The sites though are CRAZY in price! We get a senior discount with many places we go.....this is not one of them. We selected another site that looked fairly level, but if we ever have to do this again, we will be thinking about if the playground is nearby. While we love kids and have 3 of our own and two grandkids, when the pool closes, the play area is LOUD! Won't make that mistake again. This AM, we took the camp map out and circled acceptable sites for the next trip. The only problem with this is you are charged if you want to make sure you get the site you pick. I really take issue with that. It should not cost you a thing....this is souring me altogether from commercial parks. Pluses....they have great pools, nice inside areas and so forth. Cabanas and golf cart rentals are nice, but a tad high. I feel sites are tight for the $$$$'s. There are some cool places to go in the area to include Luray Caverns, wineries and distilleries. Deluxe tent sites are nice and there are activities. Minuses....I wish that they would build roofs over the picnic tables in all their sites, not just the tent areas. Prices, well I can stay in a hotel for $135 a night.....don't add in the nickle and dime stuff. Many of the sites are just not great....we talked to a gentleman with a diesel pusher and he said he was unhappy as well. At the price, you really do expect a little better. Make sure to join Yogi rewards before coming. At least you can add and get a free night here or there if you stay at other Yogis. It's nice, but very pricey. Unless we have our grandsons, I don't see us staying again.

The sites really close together but Pam, the lady that checked me in, tries to spread peolple out unless if you request a site. The whole place looks kind of messy, but if you're out camping then who cares? Make sure to bring shower shoes or flops if you plan on using the bathhouse. This should be regular practice but you most definitely will want them here. I had stayed at a few different camp sites this week and gooney was definitely the best for star gazing. It may not be primitive, but it's far enough into the middle of nowhere that you don't have much light pollution. If you want a good view of the sky then opt for sites 20,19 and i think may 18. If privacy is your thing then maybe shoot for 18 since it's the last site, but still don't expect any real privacy because the trail to the swimming hole is at the edge of the site. They sell firewood on site and have drinkable water out of the spigots from the camper spots just across from the registration office. Pam was really helpful and even informed me of the meteor showers that night.
