Stayed here October for three days the crappiest hotel experience I've ever had!!! Broken door lock wouldn't move me to another room I propped the chair under the door handle, itchy dingy old towels, ripped screens, dirty beds, powder creamer for their black water they called coffee. They are now claiming that I 'burned holes' and charge me $150. There was no smoking in that crap room at all. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The very tall Indian man is creepy and the early morning staff is scary looking older man that stared and just mumbled things at you while he was smoking. I did not feel comfortable. read more

My family had to get a room due to a tree falling on our power line knocking our power out last night. So we chose to stay at the motel 6 in front Royal. We checked in at 8:30pm, we have a 6 year old and two dogs. We were exhausted and went straight to bed. Woke up at 4:30 am to ROACHES crawling all over my daughter and all over the headboard! Went straight to the front desk demanding a refund, the refused and called the cops on me! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! IT IS DISGUSTING!!!! Cops looked at the pictures I took and I got my full deposit and half the room money back because they even agreed that was disgusting!! The health department has also been notified! read more

Not good at all. Floors were terribly dirty. Beds hard as a rock, pillows paper thin, bathroom dirty, outside in back dirty. My wife walked on the floor with her socks on and after doing so the bottom of her white socks were black. I don't think we would ever stay here again. read more

The front desk woman is so rude. They charged my card before I got there. I checked in at 545pm and she said she charged my card at 530, "because they can do that after 5" is what she told me. There were roaches in my room, I saw atleast 3. I left to drop my daughter off at daycare at 830am, came back at 930am and they already stripped my room when I planned on coming back to sleep until 11 (checkout time) and when I went to the front desk to complain about it, they said "we thought you left". General Review of area: This is a general review of services in the area, so it's not so much a one-service review as it is many. To quote Wilkinson, in 'John Adams', 'Guest are like fish. After 3 days: they start to stink'. That sums up the general culture in VA. Nice for a couple days, then they get moody or grouchy if they have to deal with you for more than a few days at a time. Specific Review of Motel 6: Motel 6 is a fairly decent service. It's much better than the hospitality service down Richardson Rd. near Strasberg. This family rents out a room for travelers or newcomers: but their house stunk of cat and dog feces and urine. And its members just glower at people who linger for more than a few days. So I moved on. I eventually started using Motel 6 with more regularity as a franchise or brand services tend to be somewhat more conscious of quality of services. As you migrate towards the west side of the USA, using Motel 6s, you may find as I did, that the services get progressively better and the moods of the areas gets progressively brighter and cheerier. Think West: friendly, and East: less friendly. In summary: this VA area is the most morose area I've ever seen. But if you're quick and move through quickly, I'm almost certain you won't have a negative experience here. Make sure you don't have enough time to process the people here, and you'll escape emotionally intact. read more

at around 4:30 pm (after our flight from LAX landed) I called my friend to see if she could call the hotel to ask for a late checkin. At that time my friend was advised they were about to give away my hotel room even though I had booked my room MONTHS in advance. Since I was dealing with the rental car and could not get to the hotel to check in before 6pm my friend called my credit card info in. When I got to the hotel, I checked in with the front desk. She assigns me to a room and tells me that I don't need to move my car, just carry my luggage to the first floor room. Room #140 and that it's very close to the lobby. Well, I walked the length of the motel and I could not find room #140. At this time it's very dark out and the property crawling with unsavory people. I called the front desk. The receptionist clearly doesn't know the layout of the property because she could not tell me where #140 was. She even began to tell me that #140 was on the 2nd floor. Clearly it's not. So we proceed to the back of the hotel and find our room. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room but upon entering it reeked of smoke. It was difficult to breathe. I immediately called the front desk clerk who told me that that was the ONLY room available. The room was filthy, it stunk,the blankets adorned with cigarette burns, pure filth and grime on the walls and ROACHES! I called the front desk to tell them about the roaches we gathered our belongings and they found a new room for us. I was relieved, but not for long.... The new room was #230 front facing part of the motel. It was somewhat better appointed and less filthy- still not really clean though. Upon entering the room it smelled of air-freshener. A better smell than the smoke. I begin to unwind- the best I could in a roach motel and then I see them, more roaches. I called the front desk and the woman again tells me there Isn't a room to switch me to. I'm 2000 + miles from home with a small child and had no choice but to stay. The front desk lady told me that I should definitely be given a discount for the trouble and that she recently had something similar happen to her personally and she could really understand where I was coming from. She assured me that management would call me. By morning I learned that the fresh smell was only a coverup. I also learned that the Manager (Becky is her name was supposed to call me). She never did and I'm still waiting for this call... I also discovered 1.)The toilets don't work properly. 2.)You are woken up when ever someone uses the shower or toilet in a neighboring room. 3.)The refrigerator doesn't keep drinks cold 4.)The microwave hasn't been cleaned in months. 5.) There is algae growing on the walkway from the air conditioning drippings. 6.) You're lucky is you get fresh towels even when you make it obvious that new towels are needed By the end of the week, the roaches spotted were dead (they must have sprayed) but I still didn't appreciate cleaning up roach carcasses each day. I strategically left one under the desk (in plain view) to test the thoroughness of the cleaning crew. It took 3 days of "cleaning" to have it removed. I'm very disappointed as disgusted with Motel 6. The quality of the rooms are subpar and not even worth a 1 star. I look forward to getting home so I can disinfect my body and clothes. The follow up of management is non existent and when I requested my discount was given only $25.00 by another manager named Patel. Ridiculous. Shame on you Motel 6. The pictures attached show Cigarette burns in the blankets, a filthy microwave, roaches, and a constant slippery puddle in front of each room. Our rooms were very clean and the hotel was very accommodating of our four legged family member.

First, this is a Motel 6. Setting our expectations there to begin, I will say that it seemed to be reasonably clean, it was cheap (room was $65 booked at the front desk night of with no notice), and there's free brown water in the morning in the lobby that passes for coffee if you're so inclined. I travel on the cheap frequently and this pretty standard, but getting what you expect puts you well on the way to 4 stars. However! When I booked my room for two adults, it was under the implicit understanding (as is the case with all hotel accommodation in the United States) that there would be TWO full beds present in the room, or barring that, I would be notified that there was a single king bed. Instead, I find that there is only a SINGLE full bed. For two adults, with no warning! This breaks the unwritten contract! I would have still booked the room had I been made aware of this, but selling me the room without a warning or heads up that it will not be a standard room is underhanded and deceptive in my book. read more

Upon check in the desk clerk was very courteous. The property has just joined the Motel 6 family. The room was comfortable and clean. Would recommend this property to any one wanting a nice place for overnight lodging in the Front Royal area. Close to the Shenandoah National Park entrance. Looks to have lots of interesting places and things to see with loads of history. read more

We stayed here for two weeks. It was the worst two weeks of my life. If you stay there for a night they treat you very nice. You can only get sheets on Monday. If you miss the maid then you get no sheets and clean blankets you have to wash them yourself! Everyone who works there is mean!! Besides Norman the overnight man. You couldnt ask for a better guy. He was the sweetest front desk worker. The owner is a complete dick! They have no ice! When they do you get one bag per day. Its a very tiny bag. This hotel is terrible. I will never stay there again.. Oh and yes they have a pool outside but they refuse to fill it in the summer time! The floors in the rooms stay dirty. It dosent matter how many times you scrub that floor . i took a mop almost twice a day and scrubbed and scrubbed the floor and my kids feet stayed black!!! Its not clean. read more

"Judy" at the front desk was not courteous at all. Snappy attitude. They ran my card before I arrived, when reservation clearly stated you "pay at check-in". Upon reserving the room, they ask if you have any special requests, and like always, I wrote "Extra pillows, please". When I inquired about my request, her response was "there's already 4 pillows in the room". Well, THAT was courteous. Beds are not comfortable. It's obvious the owners are skimping on rooms with bare minimums. Cheap flooring, lamp shades don't fit lamps, no toilet paper holder, and the parking SUCKS. We were here for an entire week where they raised the price three separate times saying corporate was who made the prices. Yesterday morning when we paid (they refused to give us a weekly rate so they could charge by the day) we were charged more than 20 extra because they "had to cancel someones reservation TP allow us to stay because they were completely booked up". At nine o clock at night I walked the dogs and saw THREE empty rooms just in the five between ours and the office. When I asked them about this his wife almost came over the counter at me aggressively screaming and pointing at me, he LIED to my face and told me they weren't empty even though they leave the curtains completely open on empty rooms and told me if I couldn't recite the room numbers that were empty I should have to pay him double!! When I told him I would be calling corporate office he yelled that he wasnt a corporate store even after he told my husband that was why they increased the price before. Our room was extremely clean and the staff was very very nice. One room for one night was 71 dollars, and for how nice it was I would consider this cheap. The only problem we had was that our room key took a very long time to scan and get into the room which was troubling. First of all, this is a serious warning- DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! They DO NOT CHANGE THE SHEETS BETWEEN CUSTOMERS! My husband and I found this motel on a travel site and decided it was priced right so we went there to spend the night. When we got to the room, I inspected as I always do to check for signs of insect infestations (I used to work in pest control) and found that the inside areas of all the furniture (nightstands and dressers) was very dirty with evidence of either seriously old food splatter stains or what could have possibly been old reside from insect occupation. The worst surprise was when we pulled down the bedspreads to check the beds because the sheets were dirty. There was food residue (crumbs) and what appeared to be pubic hair in one bed and the other bed had a stain (ewww!) and the sheets had not even been repositioned on the mattress. We went back to the office to ask for our money back and were told there was a no refund policy. They did offer us another room, but my thoughts are that if they don't clean one room, they probably don't clean others. Why would I risk my health for a motel room? I called corporate headquarters and I am still trying to get my money back. We ended up at the little place just down the hill next door and it was older but very clean and nice. read more

This motel was newly changed from cool harbor to motel 6. We stayed here for two nights last weekend when visiting Shenandoah national park and had a nice stay. Very friendly staff, clean rooms and clean lobby! The rooms are very basic, I'm assuming because they're still transitioning to the new motel 6? Bring your own hairdryer. All together a great place to stay, would stay again! read more

This is the by far the worst place I have stayed at actually I didn't even stay because when I got to the room it smelt like cigarettes the floor was fake and cheap and was coming up the bathroom was horrible it was dirty the lady at the desk wouldn't even give me a refund and it was a very sus area don't recommend your better off to sleep in the street read more

Nice Motel! Lovely lobby, koi pond, free continental breakfast. Rooms are spacious with kitchettes. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed there on our way up for a few days camping in Shenandoah. I left a ring in my room and Wanda searched the room high and low, finally finding it behind the night stand. She held it for me until we could swing back through. 4 stars because the bedding is old--sheets fine, but blankets older and scratchy. By no means a deal breaker, but they should consider in investing in new bedding. They'd have a 5 star motel then. For now, for sure 4 stars based on amenities and friendliness. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. There were hairs in the bed, sink, bathtub and on the toilet seat. There's a hole in the wall. The bathroom smelled like urine. The beds are hard as board. The cigarette smell coming from the adjoining room was so strong, I used a roll of toilet paper to stuff in the cracks around the door. It said in the visitors guide they have breakfast, they don't. There was questionable goings on next door with money exchanged. Most of walkway lights were burned out. Don't walk barefoot in the bathroom YUCK you stick to the floor. This was the nice Cool Harbor Motel until it became this lousy Motel 6. It was the worst motel I've ever stayed in and I'm 47 years old! The lobby had no AC and was 83 degrees as we stood in line the slow line to check in. The room was really dingy with fist holes in the walls and a disgusting bathroom and this is AFTER it was "remodeled. The sink had cigarette burns on it, a gross faucet and was slow to drain so It filled up while doing anything and you had to turn it off and let it drain. The tub faucet was not connected to anything and moved when you tried to pull up on the knob. The pool was not filled up in the middle of the summer. We had no towels when we checked in. Then the next day they took our dirty towels and didn't give us new ones. How do you go in a room to get the towels and not leave new ones. We called the front desk and they told us to come to the lobby to get fresh towels instead of bringing us new ones. We were only given 2 small cheap towels and 2 wash rags. We paid extra for a room with a view and there was no view and the window was so foggy you couldn't even see out of it anyway. Nothing for breakfast and just one 12 cup coffee pot for the whole motel with the worst tasting coffee I ever had. After 1 cup we walked to the 7/11 to get real coffee. I heard several other guests complaining in the lobby about similar things. My friends stayed here several times under the old owners and it was nice but we all vowed to find a new place for our annual motorcycle riding trip next year. What a dump!! read more

The soap in the shower was used, none of the rooms garbage had been emptied and the wall next to the bed looked like it had been sneezed on.

Me and my husband stayed at Motel 6 in Front Royal va for a couple of weeks while we were having some work down on our house. The lobby was beautiful. Check in was fast and the Front Desk staff was so nice and friendly. The room we stayed in was huge. The bathroom was kind of small but clean. They didn't offer breakfast but they did have a laundry room so that was a plus. They treated us just like family so I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a room for a day or longer. If we ever need a place to stay again we will stay at Motel 6 its a very nice Motel. read more

I picked this hotel because it was priced well and had a pool. Big mistake! The pictures that are posted on Expedia are VERY deceiving! The hotel is run down, garbage everywhere, the pool is empty and hasn't been filled in a very long time, every pretty tree pictured has had every branch cut off or is cut down to a stump all together, the white picket fence has broken pieces and is extremely weather ruined, the outside of the rooms reek of cigarettes, the mattress/box spring bed bug protectors are ripped thus doing absolutely nothing to protect you from bed bugs, the sheets and comforter were dingy with minor stains and very thin, and they have quite a few shady characters who live at the hotel who have their chairs and grills outside their doors and hang out. Then after we checkout I checked my bank statement and they charged $110.19 to my card. I called and though they refunded it back to my card, they didn't explain why they charged it in the first place in that amount. Beware! I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel! read more

The only thing that was good about the stay was the staff. They were very friendly and even let us check in early and they kept the room clean. The down side is:. The wifi was terrible, no breakfast offered, pool was drained and there was a bareable smell in the room.
