Eighty-four years and 4 generations! For them to stay in business this long, they're doing things right. What made us finally decide to choose them to re-roof our house was how we were treated. Don was very knowledgeable. He taught us a lot of things and gave the right recommendations. Communication was excellent! Chelsea was so easy to speak to and she was always eager to help with all our questions. They were very friendly so we always felt at ease with no pressure whatsoever. But what matters most are results. We're very detail oriented so we looked at every aspect of the job. From placement of the shingles, how some of the fascias were replaced, the placement and spacing of vents, installation of new rain gutters, to the flashing of the chimney and everything else. All were nicely and neatly done. There were one or two minor things that we asked to be adjusted and they obliged without hesitation. On top of that, they cleaned up thoroughly every day. Although Wonderlin Roofing was not the least expensive, he felt they were the most credible. He also told me that the owner, Grover, would personally come out for a free inspection and discuss any repairs that might be needed. I trusted my neighbor's referral, so I gave Wonderlin Roofing a call. Grover came out within the week. He was very professional and personable, conducted a thorough roof inspection, and afterward took the time to go over his findings with me. He also showed me photos of what he had found. When I received the estimate, I appreciated that it was broken down into repairs that were necessary, repairs that should be completed within a reasonable amount of time, and repairs that could be addressed in the near future. I called to discuss the recommendations, and ultimately decided to have all of the work completed. This is where the scheduling process became a little challenging. There was some miscommunication on both parts, including missed emails and some confusion about scheduling, which became frustrating at times. We did establish dates, although I also had to cancel once because of unforeseen circumstances. One thing I wish had been communicated more clearly was that when a work date is scheduled, there can be uncertainty about whether the crew will be able to complete everything that day. I completely understand that with roofing, you don't always know what you will find once the work begins. The challenge was coordinating my availability with Wonderlin Roofing's availability to return the following day if additional work was needed. It became difficult to keep additional days open and make sure I was available when the crew was able to return. Once we finally locked in a date and the crew arrived, everything went very smoothly. The crew was professional, personable, and respectful of my property. They were also very considerate of the neighbors--they weren't talking loudly or yelling back and forth to each other, and there was no loud music or unnecessary noise. They did an excellent job cleaning up and kept me informed throughout the day as the work progressed. I was even shown the areas of the roof that were removed and needed to be repaired or replaced, and they sent me pictures of the completed repairs. This allowed me to compare the finished work with the original inspection photos, which I really appreciated. There was also an issue with my gutter. After the initial consultation, I noticed that the gutter had been damaged where the ladder had been placed. I immediately notified the office, and they told me they would address it when the crew returned for the repairs. When the crew arrived, the crew lead saw the damage and immediately said that he would replace the gutter. I told him that I appreciated his willingness to replace the entire gutter, but asked if they could try to repair it first. I explained that if the repair looked good and resolved the issue, that would be perfectly acceptable to me. They were able to successfully repair the gutter without having to replace it. I was very appreciative that the crew lead was willing to replace the gutter without question, and I also appreciated that they were able to find a way to repair it instead. One thing to be aware of when planning for the work is that Wonderlin Roofing does not accept credit cards as a form of payment, so you'll want to make sure you're prepared with an acceptable form of payment when the job is completed. Overall, I would recommend Wonderlin Roofing. I was impressed with Grover's professionalism, the detailed inspection, the photographs, and the way the estimate clearly separated the repairs by priority. The crew that completed the work was excellent and treated my home with respect. My only recommendation would be to make communication after the initial inspection a little clearer, particularly regarding scheduling and the possibility that additional days may be needed to complete the work. To be fair, there was miscommunication on both sides, and once we discussed it and agreed on a better way to communicate, everything went smoothly. Full credit to Rodrigo and Lincon, who were on top of things throughout the project. First, they patiently explained the full roofing process to me in detail when I was getting estimates. This was not my experience with some of the other roofing companies who felt rushed or were asking me to cut corners. In contrast, ELM gave me several alternatives before we zeroed on to a torchdown roof. Next, Rodrigo and Lincon were very communicative on our group chat and kept me apprised of the progress throughout, including tons of photos. Rodrigo was also very proactive in dealing with the city for permits as well as clarifications etc, which happened several times since our city is one of the stricter ones. During all this, we had a running clock since we were in contract to sell the house, but Rodrigo and company kept things in motion, sometimes working late hours to ensure completion on time, which we did with several days to spare. It was also very nice of them to talk to my buyers to tell them about the new roof in detail. I was also pleasantly surprised with their integrity. For example, the roofing torch is huge and heavy and accidentally did some minor damage to the house. They fixed it without questions in a very timely manner.
