We've gone here a few times when we first moved here and are picky about our pizza and usually make them at home but we had pretty big birthday party for me amongst friends and family and found out they hosted with their catering woodfire pizza truck!! We were so excited!! We had at least 20 adults and 20 kids and had them from 5-7pm since the earlier time was already booked up but it ended up working out great since kids ate and went home fed. Matthew was our pizza caterer and had a gal that helped out as well. They were early, professional, personable, the amazing variety of pizzas were rolling in and we got so many compliments from our guests!! Their pizzas were all so stellar! My personal favorite is their buffalo chicken and BBQ chicken but they were all delicious and nothing better than Stonefire pizza fresh for your party! I know we could've ordered pizza and had it delivered but the experience was amazing We are a Navy family and are looking forward to using them again in the future for our events. My coworker told me about this place after I mentioned I was looking for a solid pizza place to frequent after my boyfriend moved to Groton. We usually order dominoes or pick up pizza in Mystic--no more! My pizza was what, $11 or $13 and easily 10x better than the overpriced pizza I get in Mystic. I explained a dietary restriction and they were super accommodating. Pizza came out super fast, it was delicious! Fresh tomatoes, fresh basil and garlic. Thin, crispy crust. Super flavorful--new all time favorite pizza place. Lots of seating inside, not too loud, waitress was really nice and super helpful. Only downside I can see is that you might have trouble finding parking if it's poppin', they share the parking lot w/ the Asian Market and a consignment store. Rolling Tomato has successfully turned us into regulars! My husband and I love coming here for lunch at least once a week. Service is always fantastic, and pizza is always perfect. We had called in advance to order our pizza as I needed to get to work on time. When we arrived, they politely explained that the ticket was read wrong, but that the correct pizza was already in the oven. They let us leave home with the "mistake"(still GREAT to us) pizza and we didn't wait more than five minutes for our correct one. There's an expression "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining". Well I can't think of a better expression that aptly describes Rolling Tomato's claim. They claim their pizza is New Haven style pizza. Does merely having a quarter inch strip of char automatically make it a New Haven pizza? No. Many pizzerias all over the country char their pizza. Some do it on purpose and some do it by accident. That doesn't automatically make them all New Haven pizza style. So where's the soupy messy sauce? Where's the crust that's crispy on the outside and doughy in the inside? Where's the bubbles in the crust? Where's the odd sized chunks of tomatoes floating in the sauce? Where's the fresh mozzarella that stretches a mile when pulled? THOSE are real characteristics of New Haven pizza. And those characteristics were missing from my Rolling Tomato's pizza. So how did my pizza taste? Sadly it didn't look or taste much different than a Dominos pizza. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a pizza snob. It honestly DID taste like a Dominos pizza. The crust was the closest resemblance. The sauce reminded me of jar sauce. The Rolling Tomato is proof that automatically having a wood oven is no guarantee of producing a good pizza. In all honesty I can think of only one pizzeria in New Haven that uses a wood oven. So I don't know how the Rolling Tomato people can say their pizza taste like New Haven pizza when they're using a wood fired oven. New Haven pizza is typically not wood fired. Arrrrghh. read more

I don't know what they do to their pizza to make it so juicy, but it's unlike any pizza I've ever had. It's mouth-watering and delicious. You can tell they put effort into every pizza they prepare. Ordered here for the first time. I guess the inside won't be open for another two weeks they said. I ordered here bc of the $10 pizza special they had going- which I thought was a great deal... Until I saw how small the pizza was! I ordered extra cheese yet there was barely any on it. I had to throw it in the oven bc it was cold when I got it home (even though I live just down the street from there). This pizza is really really good!!! I had the princess pizza (manly right?) and it was so good!!! It had chicken and a peanut sauce on it that I loved. It's a little pricy for pizza though. Worth the splurge once and awhile though! I loved how they quickly jumped on the technology bandwagon and had the tablet for payments. I wish the social media was a bit stronger though. I like to check out Yelp reviews and see how active the company is on social media before checking out new places. I was disappointed to see the owner who ever controls the social media accounts posted personal opinions that may cause potential customers to stay away. Go take a look and scroll through their timeline. I wish businesses would use social media more! Especially small businesses! For example have a sign that says post a selfie using #RollingPizza or something to increase their presence and awareness. This thin crusted, wood fired pizza was fresh and delicious. We got the Belle and Classic Cheese pizza but it was extremely difficult to decide with over 40 pizza options, all of which sounded incredible. Our kids ate the entire half a cheese pizza (even the crust!) And we finished the whole Belle pizza. We also had some amazing fried pickles. They were fresh with dill, extremely crispy but not flaky or soggy. Best fried pickles I've ever had. Because of the holiday they were under staffed but, had the owner (and cook/server for the day) not mentioned it we would never have been able to tell. I love wood fired brick oven Pizza! The positive was the Jackson hole pizza was absolutely delicious, but the entire end of each slice was completely soggy. Very disappointing. I had to put paper towels under the pizza to sop up all the liquid that was coming off of the crust.
