The Ritz diner is a quaint, small diner. The staff are very friendly, kind and attentive, they are also very personable. The food was amazing, I have the biscuits and gravy. You definitely can tell it's all homemade they used fresh ingredients. Most of the dishes are reasonably priced. I would definitely be going there again when I'm in the area.

I've lived in the salem and immediate area for years. I finally pulled the trigger and tried the ritz. Mind you, this is a very small place, old but clean none the less! Wait staff are friendly and attentive. I went for my go to of CFS&E. Eggs were done perfectly the way I ordered. The country fried steak was laque luster by its self with little seasoning in the breadding, but with the thick rick country gravy it was good, and alot of it. I ended up taking half my order home. I highly recommend this little gem, and will definitely be back!

My friend invited me to breakfast and wanted to come to his favorite place. This place doesn't look like much when you walk in, but ooooh man! Incredibly good food. I had the Hobo omlet! It does not disappoint!

Overall, pretty good food and a fair pricing. Our family ordered different things from the menu and no complaints. The pancakes are delicious! I recommend this place if you want some good food, cozy vibes, and don't want to pay an arm and leg.

I was today's old when I learned that The RItz closed and I couldn't be more bummed. As one of the city's longest standing diners, it has been offering delicious and cheap breakfasts for as long as I've been alive. It has been one of the staples of the community, serving largely blue collar crowds while sitting in the middle of the seedy Four Corners neighborhood. This was still a family owned establishment until one of the former cooks took it over a decade ago to keep the place alive. 2020 has been a terrible year. This was the place that always had their recession special of ham and eggs (with hashbrowns + toast) with a drink for a few bucks. Fast forward to just before COVID hit, it had zoomed up to modern times: a measly $6.75 with the purchase of a drink. It is a killer deal and probably got more folks through the door than expected. The space was already small to begin with, but they managed to pack it up almost every morning. Their hash browns were perfection. Perfectly crispy, golden brown, and with just a hint of butter for that oily finish. Paired with eggs of any kind, it was the exact style that fueled my obsession that continues today. They served up a myriad of breakfast foods; I don't think I ever had a bad rendition of any single item. I could never finish a "full" order of their biscuits and gravy or pancakes. Even in defeat, I was more than happy to indulge in their variety. I was here not too long ago and noticed and they had just started using Square as a method of payment. I was thinking they were on the up and up but that's clearly before the pandemic wreaked havoc. I wish the former owner the best of luck and mourn their entrance to the restaurant after-life.

Ask the Community - The Ritz Diner

Is the Ritz Diner still in business? We stopped by around 10am for a late breakfast and it was closed. No sign on the locked door and all the lights were out. Be a tragedy if they closed up shop.

They have little to no staff and are on the brink of permanently closing. There is apparently a go fund me by Adam (the owner), but I can't find it.

Their ciders are great, I tried the Viking Cherry Cider and loved it so much I bought a six pack to take home, at $18 for 6 it was still absolutely well worth it. For food my coworker got the Fish and Chips, deep fried in beef tallow for those who avoid seed oils, and said it was excellent. I had a caesar salad and fries to go with my cider and it was a lovely meal. This will absolutely be one of our go-to spots when in Salem from now on.

The inside atmosphere is sports bar fabulous plenty of seating for groups or couples. We shared a juicy hazy IPA and an order of scotch eggs while sitting on the patio, which is shaded and comfortable with both picnic tables and bar-top seating. I was thrilled to find that the scotch eggs were not only delicious but also authentically prepared. The yolk was soft and slightly runny, and the crust was perfectly crisp and flavorful. This establishment is a true hidden gem. While the food prices are a little steep, the quality definitely makes it worthwhile. We will be back!

I tried this at The Yard…read more It was....alright. Kind of expensive, but not overly bad for a food truck collective. I ordered an El Dorado, with barbecue sauce, onion rings, bacon, and cheese (tomato, lettuce, and onion are listed on the board. I declined lettuce and tomato but didn't receive any raw or grilled onions, just an onion ring. That was fine. However, the menu said onion rings and onions.) I chose the tater tots to go with it. I also ordered a side of mozzarella sticks. Not overly long to receive. The food was hot and clearly prepared fresh. However, I have a hard time not saying that literally everything I ate started off frozen. Consider the hockey puck, perfectly formed, crisp edged hamburger patty. Honestly, it didn't really taste like anything. Just...chew. Frankly, it made me think of frozen Bubba Burgers. Maybe the Angus one, to be fair, but it still didn't really taste like anything. Complete lack of seasoning, except maybe some sprinkled on, which is usually indicative of a frozen hamburger puck. The bacon and cheese were okay. Barbecue sauce was non-descript. Tots were...potatoes. Again, I felt like they came out of a generic food supplier bag. And the picture on the menu versus the actual mozzarella sticks? Yeah. Not the same. I recognized them from my drinking days the moment they came out. The exact same frozen mozzarella sticks that they serve at most bars. Big, thick, breading comes off the cheese pretty easily as they cool down, big hunk of solid cheese that starts off stretchy and turns into a solid block when cold. My 12 year old son and I didn't finish them, and both me and that kid love fried cheese. Look, it wasn't horrible. But I didn't finish it. And wasn't sad about it. And it cost an awful lot for that, all things considered. If you're at the Yard and just want basic American style diner food, go for it. You'll get what you ask for. But I don't see any reason to go there. Honestly, I have a better burger from Wendy's. :/
