Good drinks and a good vibe. The bar tenders are slow, but the bar is normally packed. The smoke can be a deterrent at times. I wish they would offer small apps to go with the drinks. 4+E+G= Good Time. They have about 10 bars, and by next week who knows maybe 15, here in the Tri-State area. By and far some oft the classiest guys here in the area. Well established and they know how to run a quality establishment. Like all other 4EG bars, the RR has an excellent happy hour. In fact the RR has one of the best happy hours in the city. Half off everything. Let me repeat that. EVERYTHING! I once got a Sam Adams Oktoberfest for 2.50. Unreal. This alone is 5 stars. At night however, the clientele and the cramped space average it out to 3 stars. Just like its counterpart in Frat Adams- The Pavilion- RR attracts a certain cluby clientele that brings about excess body heat, awkward dancing, trouble getting drinks and seats, usually a confrontation or two, and that one girl who had way too many drinks and couldn't quite make it to the bathroom. If you need a place downtown for Happy Hour, this is the place to go!! All drinks, and they do mean all, are half off from 4 to 8! This equates to $1.75 for domestic bottles and no more than a few dollars for most mixed drinks and draft beers. The atmosphere is very cool, especially the back room - it's great in the summer when the weather is nice for a patio-like setting, but it's still fun in the winter when the roof is covered. Six dollars for a gin & tonic, literally half the size of what you would get at any other bar. I could have downed it in one gulp. Went on a Friday night. Crowd was 30-something, white, and mostly couples or mixed-gender groups. When I was there, 60% male / 40% female. Looked like groups of close friends or coworkers. Main bar was cramped. Only enough room for one row of moving people. Once you get from the entrance to the back room, there is more elbow room. Back room was outside but heated in winter. Great happy hour drink specials. It is usually not that crowded in the early evening so it makes chillin there a good start to the evening. The bar has little snacks for you to munch on while drinking some really great cocktails and beers. The late evening can get crowded and hectic, the design of the main bar area does not help with this. I am not the type of person that would pay their regular price for their mixed drinks (which are in the 10-12+ neighborhood). We ended up going here for cocktails around 8 pm on a Saturday before having dinner at Nada across the street. At first, we walked into the front bar area and almost left because it was so warm and humid in there... and it was only mid-March... but we sat down and perused a drink menu. Meanwhile, we took notice of all the people entering and coming back through a back hallway. I thought, "That's a lot of bathroom traffic... or they have a patio." So, I went to investigate and found that they have a read courtyard area that has a glass roof that is both literally and figuratively 'cool'. We adjourned to the glass courtyard which was a welcome and cool change from the moist indoor area. The bar in the courtyard had a limited drink menu and no draft beer, but they were able to make any basic cocktail. The bartender was friendly and even offered ideas on other places to visit while we were in town. The courtyard has four L-shaped sectional sofas on which to recline - all in all very comfortable for chatting with friends. Be aware, though, that if you sit in the courtyard, drinks that you order from any waitress who may stop by to see if you need anything may be more expensive than those you get from the bar on your own. For basic cocktails like Jack and Coke, she charged us about $1.50 more per drink than those we got on our own. At 8 pm, this place wasn't too crowded, but it sounds like it's a popular place with the locals. read more

I like and dislike this place all at once. For one, the ambiance is awesome. It located in an awesome old building and they did a nice job fixing it up. However, it gets completely jam packed and the building is so long and narrow that it becomes impossible to move around. As an added "bonus," the seating is kind of lacking. Righteous Room is one of the coolest spots in downtown Cincinnati. The place isn't huge but it continues to attract a mature crowd. It's artistic decor makes it interesting. I was rather drunk during most of my visit here, but I guess that's normal for a bar, right? I came here with a coworker after dinner, and we talked and drank for hours. What I do remember is that the drink (a Cosmo of some sort, the special for that night) was tasty, and the bathroom was intriguing because the girls and guys share sinks. I have been to the Righteous Room a couple of times and have always had okay experiences. The front section of the bar gets super crowded and almost resembles a closet. The back half is nice because it is a large open area with heaters (kind of reminds me of a greenhouse). The only drawback is that this section gets pretty smoky sometimes. Wow, prices are sky high for me during non-happy hours. I had a Paris to Moscow which contained Stoli Razberri, Champagne, and fresh raspberries, costing $12, but delightful nonetheless. The bar was not loud at all, granted it was an off night, Tuesday to be exact. I enjoyed the artwork which fit the atmosphere and beauty of the woodwork of the bar. It felt warm and cozy, and I was glad that it was an off night because I can totally see how it would be very crowded and pressing when happy hour occurs due to the narrow nature of the rooms. I am honestly a huge fan of The Righteous Room. RR is definitely my favorite place to go to for drinks. It's my kind of people, the drink selection is great, the atmosphere is simply amazing, no cover & the bartenders are always friendly & actually know how to make wicked drinks. If the main bar seems a bit packed, try and make your way to the back room. That's the place to be, especially when there is a DJ. The music isn't too loud where you can't carry on a conversation. This is a nice bar in a good location but to me it is just okay. It is a place that is trying to be more upscale then it really is. The drinks are good don't get me wrong but just over priced. The rating for Righteous room really depends on what time you are there. If you are there during happy hour, its a 5 star bar. If you are there past 10pm when the crowd arrives, its a 1 star bar. Especially now that nearby bars Lodge Bar and Black Finn are closed, it can get shoulder to shoulder packed there in the evening. I'm not someone that totally hates crowds, but Righteous Room isn't the largest space so once it gets crowded its not a fun experience. So my recommendation is to check it out after work, during happy hour. There are some good specials and they have a great drink selection. I thought this place was just ok. Went late on a Saturday night. This place was packed to the gills both inside and outside. If you plan on having a conversation here with someone then go somewhere else. Obviously it is the place to be in downtown if you are in you early to mid-20's. Lots of hipsters and Abercrombie type people. After being there awhile, I started to feel like I was in an episode of Jersey Shore. Just not my scene. But, it would be a good place if you are looking to creep on someone or stop in during a bachelor/bachelorette party. I think that paints a pretty good picture. read more

Where to begin.... I met up with some friends for a 30th birthday last weekend, and I felt like I was back in undergrad. While the bar tries to market itself as some sort of quasi upscale young professional establishment, it looks an awful lot like something you'd see in Mt Adams with college kids puking. 1. The drinks: when you order a mixed drink, it is in a 4oz glass with about 1/2oz of alcohol for $7.00. It is hard to get served at the patio bar because there are drunk people just chilling out right next to the bar, not ordering drinks, just chilling out. 2. The smoke filled patio: there is a great outside space, however, as it is fully enclosed by a plastic roof, and they allow smoking, the space is ruined by smokers. So- when you get home your Bengals jersey and Reds hat smell like smoke. 3. The crowd, I was greeted by a melange of Bengals gear and hoodies, hardly upscale. Also, the entire establishment is smaller than most New York City apartments, so it tends to get a tad bit claustrophobic. I think I'll pass. If I want to relive my youth, I'll go to a place that isn't trying too hard to be what it isn't. read more

I love whiskey, so I love coming here. You cannot beat getting a Macallan 12 year neat for less then $5 (during happy hour). I've only been here a couple times, and they have both been for happy hour. With a happy hour this good, its hard to want to come any other time. Half off everything! Including most of the scotches and bourbons (only the really really expensive ones are excluded), beer, and cocktails. The first time we went we got old fashions, and they were honestly some of the worst we've had. I think she put vermouth in them maybe, and too much sugar or something, they were just not good. So after that, I stuck with drinking my whiskeys neat. On our most recent visit, I decided to try a specialty cocktail. I ordered The Angry Old Fashioned. It had Bulleit, brown maple butter simple syrup, black walnut bitters infused ice cube, and an orange peel. It wasn't sweet like it might sound, and had plenty of bitters with the infused ice cube. I really enjoyed it. As far as service, its always been pretty good. The atmosphere lends itself for intimate conversations for couples or smaller groups, with the dimly lit room and high top booths. I dont know if i'd come here with a larger group though. For happy hour drinks with the fiance, its definitely one of my favorite places. read more

Went to the Righteous Room on Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were bar hopping and decided to visit the Righteous Room for a few drinks. We went there to do a few shots and the Bartender (Rebecca) was EXTREMELY rude. How can you be a bartender and have an attitude the entire night?? Aren't bartenders supposed to make the night fun!?! Not only was she rude to me and my guest, but she was also rude to other guests (as they commented on her bad attitude as well). This is my favorite spot Downtown to sit down and have a beer. Always a friendly staff and by far the best happy hour in the city. During the happy hour time period you will find a low key atmosphere with a variety of people enjoying drinks. The bartenders are great with everyone and it almost reminds me of Cheers. Saturday night was my first experience at Righteous Room. I was invited by friends to celebrate my 48th birthday. We loved the bartender named Brian Monst. He was very friendly and outgoing. He provided excellent customer service. His drinks were well worth the prices. I will defenitley return to Righteous Room. I've always been a fan of The Righteous Room, great atmosphere and décor. I was extremely disappointed by an experience I had recently. A group of friends and myself stopped in for a drink. I ordered a bourbon and coke. Once I got it back, I double checked to make sure she heard my order correctly as it tasted like a plain soda - or maybe she forgot to add the alcohol. I did not use those words, I was extremely polite. She was visibly offended that I questioned how she made it. (the bartender was a small blonde girl, I did not catch her name) I thanked her and ordered a shot of bourbon, as I wanted to mix it with the drink I already had so it wasn't so sweet. This made her more irritated. She nodded, made the shot and slammed it in front of me and yelled the price. It came across very aggressive and the people around me took notice. I handed her my card and she went on to taking other members of the groups order.. Now for the fun part. A member of our group was standing on the end, I don't believe this bartender knew she was with us. She is ethnically diverse and I believe that had something to do with the way she was treated. She was dressed down and could have looked out of place. She asked for a drink, the bartender said they didn't have it, she then asked for a shot of Crown Royal and the bartender leaned over the counter and says "Clifton's right up the street" .. members of our group and folks surrounding us heard this and stepped in. (mind you we are all mid 20s and early 30s -working professionals- so the Clifton insult was laughable) This bartender told us all to leave, one person in the group requested the manager, who began to walk over but the bartender blocked him and stood leaving over the counter in our faces (like she was trying to fight). One member was becoming extremely angry with her and they began to loudly argue. Everyone was so confused, we had just walked in not even 5 minutes before this altercation happened. There wasn't a manager or any other employee that came to defuse the situation properly. The BOUCERS, not the manager or anyone else, apologized to us (as all 15 of us decided to leave -plus others around us who witnessed it). They said it was the girls first night and they said sorry to each of us. It was obvious the bartender had some other issues going on but the customer service and response from the management has forever changed my mind about the bar. We all left the bar thinking "what just happened" type thoughts. Good bar, bad bartender. If it was her first night, I hope it was her last. read more

Thank you Righteous Room! My friend and I stopped in to their next door neighbor, Scene, and left after not being waited on. Walked into RR, and found a happening, energetic bar. We had two cocktails for ten bucks, the bartender was friendly and efficient, and made my Rob Roy just the way I like it. Would have been five stars but they do not serve food, not even snacks. Offer some nuts or something and I'll update to five stars. PS, it's not healthy to drink without food! :) read more

I have always liked the Righteous Room, but just have not been there in awhile. I am not sure why. They have changed their drink menu since the last time I was there. They still have some of my old favorites, but most of the new ones look great. I was there before the show at the Arnoff so only had the chance to try one. The bartender recommended the ST Germaine cocktail which is excellent, the only problem now is it was so good, I will be tempted to order it again instead of trying another new one. It has a great happy hour place. Happy hour lasts until 8:00. Only draw back is they do not have food (except for bar munchies, which are really good), but you can grab a bite before or after, there are more and more places downtown that are open late, especially close by there, The patio in the back is great, they have fans in the summer and heaters and a temporary roof in the winter. read more
