The Beef rib we were so excited to eat was cold!! It was $28 lbs and this huge rib coat is $40 with 2 sides. The price wasn't a issue but the beef rib was cold!! Who wants to eat cold bbq. I was so disappointed I didn't even eat the rib. The Tri tip was good and the beef brisket was decent. Mac and cheese was the highlight of the meal. Sauces were ok nothing special. It was very quick to order and pick up. This place is very low key and not too noticeable 8f you're just driving by quickly, but worth it to check out. The brisket is pretty good--tender. They also offer 3 different bbq sauces, all of which were good. The potato salad tasted very good, though I would have preferred the potato pieces cut a bit smaller. The fries were seasoned and are the skinny kind--also good. And according to my brother (because I don't like okra), the fried okra was also done well. My sister-in-law also enjoyed the pulled pork. If you check in, you get a free cobbler...however, I can understand why it's free...because it was not good--way too sweet, not much flavor. Oh well--ya can't always be good at everything, but at least they do a good job with the meat. Sadly, I have to write this because I am so disappointed. I spent $13 for a sandwich and I could fill up 1/2 of it with all the fat that was on the meat and chunks of it put in my sandwich. The sandwich itself is on a large hamburger type roll that was buttery and toasted. There is no sauce as it comes on the side. I debated whether or not I should go back in as I'm sitting in their parking lot eating this and show them all the fat that I did not consume. This just disgusts me. The beef brisket is tasty but I do not enjoy fat. I can rave about the potato salad and if you're lucky enough to get the peach cobbler, take advantage of that special! read more

Hello??!!! Where did this amazing hole in the wall come from?? I found it right off the 15 & 76 and ordered a bunch of food to go. Best brisket I have ever had, tri tip was tender, as were the ribs. I hate potato salad in general but ended up scarfing theirs down! Mac & cheese was great, and they have tasty beans and Okra. I also managed to snag a bite of my kids catfish sandwich, and ended up taking home 3 peach cobblers. Damn good food and service, will be back for sure. Puts Phils to shame!! Moved to Fallbrook a few weeks and couldn't drive past the amazing smell of this place another day. Was not disappointed! Ordered the chicken & ribs combo with beans and coleslaw... $19.95, not bad! The ribs are some of the best I've ever had... smoky, meaty, falling off the bone, incredibly moist, just the right amount of bark and the rub was spot on, not too sweet. The original bbq sauce was a nice compliment but I ate most of this sauce-free. The chicken was very moist and tender with great flavor. Beans and coleslaw were very good, too. I got the two meat combo with brisket and ribs with bunch of sides to share. The sides were great. Potato salad, cole slaw, beans, fried okra, all good. The meats not so much... The brisket was really dry. I even asked for a fatty piece, too. And the ribs were real bad. I've never had ribs that had such strong porky smell. BEST PEACH COBBLER! I'd go to this place everyday just to get their peach cobbler. I'm glad I checked in on Yelp and got it for free to try out. I'll definitely be ordering this every time I get food here. The BBQ here is good as well. We always get the sampler and it's more than enough for 2 people. I don't care too much for the chicken. I always get the breast and I hate it as it's always dry plus it lacks flavor. Next time I'll ask for dark meat. Maybe it'll taste better. Other than the chicken, everything is great! I found it by accident, stopped to have a Nessy Burger and smelled the smoker, haven't had Nessy sense, and they make great burgers. If the answer is yes, (most of the time it is) than it's good enough for me. However, the meat has to have a good rub. You know, the flavors that permeate the ribs/brisket/chicken/pork. Also, cooking low and slow will almost guarantee long lines and great reviews. We ordered the baby back ribs and tri-tip combo with potato salad and fries; also came with sweet dinner rolls. *I wanted the fried okra in lieu of the fries but, seniority won yet again. ;) I wanted to order the beef brisket but they were already sold out. :( I love baby backs because of the fat to meat ratio. These baby's were exceptional! Moist and tender with that good smoke flavor. I could've eaten a whole rack, no problem There's two BBQ sauce on the table. Regular sauce (sweet) and spicy (wasn't that spicy). Both complemented the meats well. Tri-tip was good, but the babes had my heart from the get go. Potato salad was above average for me. Not mayonnaizy (you know what I mean?) or vinegary. Seniority ... I mean, the apple of my eye, enjoyed the fries ... I'm gonna be in big trouble if she ever reads this review. It's 3:30 on Sunday and they're not answering their phone. The food is good but they don't follow their operating hours. I've owned and operated restaurants my entire life. This is the problem with most small restaurants. They close early if they're not doing enough business. That creates a customer mentality that ultimately eats away at revenue more and more. I'll be surprised if this place remains in business past this calendar year. I know that I've began to look for other BBQ options due to this problem. I am by no means an expert when it comes to the best BBQ west of Texas. The Rib Shack has me convinced that they are second to none. A corner location with a big smoker outside is what you will see. Open the door to a quaint 4 tables inside dining and a counter with menu board to order from. It may look like old school ordering system, but believe me they actually convert it all to an internal POS so that your order won't be missed or find its way to the constant stream of take out orders. We ordered and found a table for two. The missus chose Baby Back Ribs with potato salad and Mac&Cheese. My order was Ribs and Chicken with Cole Slaw and Mac&Cheese. Wow. Served on an aluminum tray came a heaping portion of BBQ goodness with two Que sauces, and an abundance of the sides. A sweet roll for good measure and that is a BBQ feast for sure. We ate and ate and then we asked for to go boxes. The Rib Shack was a terrific find, I just finished the leftovers and I think I'll go back tomorrow. read more

When we placed order, i said thank you and whe didnt even looked at me or said anything back. We placed an order to get additional bread roll and hot links and she didnt even bother to bring it out to is like she is suppost to bring food out to customers. When i went inside to ask for it, she made me wait 10 minutes until she was done helping 2 customers ordering and delivering food to customers sitting in outside area. It may not look like much from the outside but the decor is pretty nice. Now I know a little bit about some BBQ and I really haven't found any spot in California that have a chance against places in the South. I've been to this little spot a few times and it was pretty good for the price. You also have give extra star because there is no other BBQ spot within a 5 mile radius.
