It's a bit difficult for me to review this place, since every time I've gone there, I have gotten absolutely off my tree on the liquor. But that in itself is a ringing endorsement, not a criticism. It's something of a local legend, but what do I know? I've only been here for four months. I know that a lot of my friends like going there, and I like joining them, because they have good taste in bars. I have amazing luck every time I go there, but that's not really relevant to you, is it, theoretical reader? Awesome food and awesome service! I ordered the chili burger and my bf ordered the Cajun stuffed chicken. Both were dee-lic!! I highly recommend trying the chili burger though. This place has a very intimate setting. They play great music too. I went on a Thursday night. Wasn't crowded at all. After dinner you can hang out at any of the 2 bars they have there. The Rendezvous has super tasty food. . .it's the best burger in a 2nd Ave Bar. . .seriously.

Had a great dinner. Love the ambience. Came for a show got there early and tried the new menu. On a cold night the squash soup was amazing.

As someone said, this place is "so second avenue". As in, it's not yuppie and filled with the pretty people who populate the first ave bars. However, I don't know if "second avenue" translates into grungy and dark, which is what this place seemed to me to be. Attended a performance at the Jewel Box Theatre a while back. It's a small, intimate space in the Rendezvous with a stage. A bit worn, but they let you have beer and food inside the theatre, which is great! The space is a bit smaller, making it more intimate. Planning on going back later this month. read more

This is a super cool place in the trashy and/or fake sleek Belltown neighborhood. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for good watering hole this would be the place. Strong drinks that are well priced. Never tried food, but hear it is quite good. They often have music or other shows going on in evenings. The theater itself is very quaint, but staged and has an old elegant taste to it. Several booth tables lit with candles. Both theater and bar have great vibe day and night. One of my favoritest "dive" bars in Seattle. Can't recall what's changed in the 25 years I've been stopping by - and that gets it the 5th star. A good selection of tasty liquors, including a few single malts, and passable food (especially at happy hour) get it the first four. read more

They get my thumbs up for a St. Patrick's Day evening a few years ago when they showed my favorite movie in the Jewel Box Theater. We got to eat a solid meal, enjoy a few glasses during the flick, and join the club crowd when the music started up right as the movie ended. Hopefully this kind of programming will become more frequent there than it currently is. read more

One of the best bars in Seattle. Cool atmosphere, stiff drinks, top notch bar food, and the only FRIENDLY bar staff in all of Belltown. I kid you not. Plus they rent out their theater for the insanely low price of $75 a night. Sell $5 tickets to your punk rock show to 15 of your friends and you've paid back your fee. I didn't eat any food here, because we came to see a concert at the theater after dinner, so this review is just based on the theater. I loved the setting! I love small venues, and they had a good mix of sitting and standing space. The concert we went to was packed, so it was mostly standing room. We had the booth furthest back, and sat up on the booth back, and leaned against the wall - even then we still had an awesome view of everything. Will definitely be checking the events calendar, and would love to come back for another concert. read more

Rendezvous is a bar. If your looking for anything from a PBR to a foo-foo cocktail they can make you one, though it might have more alcohol then you expect. They also have Lagavulin, so if your a scotch drinker you can feel at home with one of Scotland's best. The music they play also doesn't suck and I hear rumors they have live acts from time to time. I'm sure I'll visit this place often in the future. read more

Service was horrible, we sat 5 feet from the bar and it took her 15 minutes to bring us a coke. The food was almost inedible with no flavor. My friend who stayed after us was accused of being a prostitute and kicked out with absolutely no reasoning for that accusation. We will never be back. I recently held an event at the rendezvous, 3 singer-songwriters playing music all evening and 70 friends enjoying the music. Madeline and her team at the Rendezvous were fantastic. Madeline helped plan the event, Matt the sound tech handled the setup changes flawlessly, the staff were amazing, friendly and accommodating. the event went off without a single hitch, Madeline was there to make sure we had what we needed and handle any unexpected changes on our part, just a fantastic venue and staff. read more

Went here for the first time for a co-worker's music video premiere (check out Jesse Mercury on Youtube!). Really cute atmosphere that has a burlesque-Western-circus decor to it. The bartender and staff are super friendly. One of the servers even came back to tell us all the ingredients in one of their aioli after he couldn't remember exactly what was in it. I love this place! I come here every month for Dr. Sketchy's, but I make sure I get there early enough to have appetizers and drinks. Their happy hour prices are great. I love their quesadillas! I rented the Red Velvet Room for a birthday party with about 30 people, and it couldn't have gone smoother. The room is beautifully decorated with chandelier lighting, red velvet walls and lined with red couches. We were able to add a dance floor for an extra fee and play our own music. I coordinated everything with Madeline via email, and she was very friendly and responsive to all my questions. Madeline also provided all the service for the party, and she was friendly and professional. The cocktails were great and the food was also very high quality -- way better than standard bar food. The minimum fee for renting the room was easy to meet, and my total tab was very reasonable. I highly recommend Rendezvous to host a party. I was very happy with the experience and everyone had a wonderful time. read more

I love The Rendezvous! They have "some" of the best bar staff in this whole city. I go see all sorts of wacky shows in th Jewelbox theather. The Grotto is a great place to have a private party. The only night I stay away is thursday, it's really hard to get service from the bar, although the server will take care of you, but they have to go through the slow bartender to get your drinks. :( ANY other time there YOU WILL HAVE FUN! read more

I think our whole positive experience wouldn't have been the same without Babs our server. She was attentive to all our needs. She helped make my friends birthday a happy one. Let me start by saying, "Wow!" I have not been to the Rendezvous in a while and I did not even attend an event this particular night, so I can only speak on the bar portion. That being said, I stopped coming here because it simply wasn't anything special. Although the food was good it was boring. The drinks seemed to be just other drinks renamed. I want some bang for my buck. With that in mind I decided to pop in this last Sunday, which brings me to my initial thought of, "Wow!" The place has changed. It would seem the crowd is changing as has the menu, which is well rounded with something for everybody, including kids (up until 9 PM). I had the Braised Pork Risotto, and the chef NAILED it. I don't know if I have had better in my life. The menu is definitely more friendly for actually sitting down for a meal, which it was not in the past. The Ambiance does not seem to have changed much aside from the staff and their attitudes. I wanted to mention my bartender, Michael, in particular. I ordered the special for the day, the Bourbon Beet Down...and just incredible. The man is working some very interesting ideas into bartending and I wanted to give him credit for his sincere love for his craft. He was great conversation and seemed very passionate about what he does. If he is any indication as to what the Rendezvous has become, it will be a place my friends and I will frequent again. If this place was gone, then the only bar I would be hanging out at is the JuJu. Thank god that is not the case. The Rendezvous has been a wonderful low light environment for me to have a wide array of experiences in. For me I need a city that has little vacations in it. Used to hang out here years ago. Dodi was one of the bartenders (she had a bar in Frisco once-whole other bunch of stories there). She would make you VERY strong drinks and then warn you if you couldn't hold your liquor she would throw your ass out. Other bartender was a near idiot and an asshole. Forgot his name, but he may have never had one. Anyhow, used to have a blast here. Big hangout for merchant sailors and hookers with the Jewel Box Theater filled with grunges next door. Dense with cig smoke. Went a bunch of years later after new ownership and a remodel (Dodi now long gone). Still a lot of fun. Better than the 5-Point. read more
