There super friendly and make sure to ask multiple times before cutting. They take there time and make sure you are very happy before you leave. Just don't, I've been given way better hair cuts at home, I have an Afro hair style I needed cut and shaped, I asked if they know how to cut my type of hair well and said yes, I've been to places where they were honest, said no, then I had them still try and they did MILES better. I didn't get her name but it was a younger Vietnamese lady, communicating was difficult. 30$ for a haircut and it was uneven and square shaped, they also shaped my facial hair into a square, rather than round as I had asked for both. 31May2016 (update): Sitting here right now and I wish Mike was still here. Just received the worst possible customer service to my 4 year old son and myself from Vy!!!! For one reason or another you may not want me to be your customer but at least smile if ur not going to say hello and don't hit the seat for my son to sit like he's a damn dog! He's four, you could at least say hello to him if you're going to completely ignore me after I watched you smile and handle your previous customer as they paid you and left. Even after Vy hit the seat for my son to sit like he's supposed to know what that means, I went out of my way to speak and said "hello, how are you?" and it took every bit of energy for her to respond. Smh, I'm so irate right now. I've not received this level of customer service in some time. Lastly, as I watch she's not cutting his hair the way I asked, this is not an assembly line. Where are the quality barbers/barbershops located??? Save for one other barber here, I'll never patronize this place again. I'm his new customer. Adding since I have left, I watched Vy (I'm assuming she was upset she had to cut my sons hair) she turned him around so vigorously in her chair that his head and upper body moved when she turned him. Be careful here. When you pay make sure to ask for a receipt!!!! so you can see how much you really tip. Case and point. After my haircut I told the barber (male wear glasses old guy) that I want to put a 3 dollar tip. Just check today that 15.70 is withdraw. (Picture below) I fall under the military price range. My husband (Half black half white super picky about his hair because he's a pretty man) and I just arrived on the island and asked around for the best barber shop, some place that had someone who could do a great line up and keep my husband lookin super fresh at a great price. We were told to check this place out and from that first cut a month ago, he hasn't gone anywhere since! He waits for Mrs. Vy and even though her chair is usually full, shes worth the wait. I swear she can cut hair with her eyes closed, plus shes super fast, super friendly and hair is their life! Love it! My husbands hair has never looked so good, and for $15 its a steal! I drive up from Honolulu, every weekend to get my haircut at 'The Regulation'. It is one of the few places on island that can fade hair if you're a African American male. All barbers are very good! I recommend this place to all. Its worth the trip up to Kailua. read more

This barber shop is very inconsistent with their haircuts. They lack basic hair cutting skills for example: making sure your hair is the same length on each side. The barber which was a Asian male smelled of cigarettes and didn't even listen to my haircut request. I asked for a medium reg with alittle off the top. I usually go to A-1, where I get a decent cheap cut. The day I went here, I had just finished taking my cans to recycling and didn't feel like driving across Kailua for a haircut, so I gave this place a shot. Like most cheap barbers in Kailua, there were mostly Marines or retirees there, and there was little to no wait for a seat. I got a guy who asked me what I wanted and I replied "A business cut", which is shorthand for a clean cut with enough along the tops and sides to easily style. He immediately grabs the vacuum hose and starts shearing me like mad. He had headphones in the entire time, and didn't make conversation (which is something I don't mind), however during the time he was shaving me with a straight razor, he paused for two minutes to take a cell phone call, and then *continued* shaving me while talking on his cell phone. It was a bit nerve-wracking and it felt a bit like lousy service. Then when he finishes, I see that my long hair, which I merely wanted clean and stylable has been turned into a Marine officer's cut, with all my cowlicks very apparent and much too short for even the strongest pomade to work with. I was so shell-shocked I tipped the guy and didn't even realize how badly he had fudged my hair until the next day. This place is good if you're a Marine, otherwise look elsewhere. read more

I had been a marine with 1/3 stationed on MCBH for six years. I've never gotten a worse haircut than I received at the regulation. The lady who cut my hair went about it like I was wasting her time, and finished in about two minutes. For all marines reading this, it was like getting a haircut in boot camp. Then when I asked her why she was in such a rush, she proceeded to start yelling at me and told me to get my haircut elsewhere if I did not like it. This was absolutely the worst haircut I have ever had; they butchered my hair because the Vietnamese woman spoke the most rudamentary English, and can not understand simplest of fractions. I asked for 1/4 inch of and they took off around 2 inches of hair. There is no hair left for me to style myself. I found this gem 15 years ago at their old location (same building, but backside). I was ecstatic when I found they were still in business when I came back on island. Owners are great people and employ fast and efficient barbers who do a great military regulation haircut, every time. No matter the hair type, they get it right. Highly recommended. read more

I take my two sons (8 and 6) and two year old daughter here on a regular basis. The service is always quick and everyone is very friendly. They are patient with the kids and listen to how they are asking them to cut their hair. I also get my hair cut here and have never had a bad hair cut. My Personal Opinion/Review. To be honest, this place sucks. It has become just like the other barbers. If there's a line, you have to wait and when they cut your hair, they will take 5 mins max. They don't give a Fck what haircut you want, they will cut what they want to cut and always expect a tip. When I go there, I have to be very specific with my haircut. They only have one job and it's to cut hair, yet they still manage to Fck it up. The last time I went there, I told them to cut it low, knowing they always cut it high, I figured it would still be decent. There's a difference between a taper, low, medium, and high. When I asked for a taper I got a high, I was so Fking pissed but managed to keep calm, I told the lady, that's not what I asked for. She replies: "I know, but I have cut many people's hair and this is good" WTF!!!! There's a reason why I pay for a haircut and they get away with it, because costumers don't say Sh!t. Anyhow, when she was done, she still had the nerved to give me the little mirror. (I'm just like, really Btch?) I had it with most of the Barbers in that Plaza, not only that they Fck up your haircut, they talk mad sh!t in their language. Anyhow, I told her that's not what I asked and I was told to pay for it. When I refuse to pay for it, they wanted to call the cops on me. In the end, I ended up paying for it, since a fcking Staff POG was trying to hold me there(that's why we don't like most POG's). Thank God I didn't lose my mind. As I was leaving the place, I was given a card with 5 stamps, and I was told that my at my 10 stamp, i would get a free haircut. (1 stamp for every haircut) Anyhow, I ended up shaving my head than looking like a dumb@ss. Than again that's my personal experience. I am sure, I am not the only one til this day. Makes me wonder if they are even legit barbers or if they are just been hooked up with a job. I haven't been back to that place nor my buddies that were there with me at that time. If you are Staff POG that's probably your place. (fcking d!ck) Either way, you can go to any barber you want. Spouse took our son there to get a haircut and the owners wife did not acknowledge us for several minutes. When we addressed it with the owner, stating that we have been here there before, to correct the poor customer service, he yelled at her in front of all the customers, telling us that they do not need her money and to go somewhere else. My son is 4, and understands everything. The owner also went on to tell her that they are not under the government and they are a private business. She is a Naval officer, very kind and giving.
