I was in Kailua this Wednesday morning / afternoon and decided to get my hair cut. I made an online reservation at Great Clips on Hekili Street. I usually get a simple fade ( medium though sometimes it will be low or high ) and trim up front. I shower and go...sometimes I'll put product in my hair but usually just towel dry and out the door. Prices have gone up: $30 for a men's cut. Barbers are efficient and competent at every Great Clips that I've been to on Oahu. I had an online coupon...and it made it a bargain. If you want a simple cut and you're a dude...can't go wrong visiting a Great Clips location. First visit to this Kailua shop...only 2 hairdressers. Moderately busy for the early afternoon on a weekday. Small parking lot in the Hekili Business Center acroos from the Kailua Towne Center. Hours are 900a till 700p, Monday thru Saturday; Sundays they close an hour early at 600p. read more

This is my regular, go to Haircut place in Kailua. The owner and her son are both full of aloha and just great people. This location has had some turnover since they opened however I do like the girls that work there now. This recent visit I had Nancy, she is very personable and loves to always smile and chat. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted and I love the online checking from great clips. I never have to wait long or at all. The establishment is always clean and they always have music on so it's never awkwardly quiet. Definitely recommend for a quick easy haircut. Reasonably priced as well. Only thing I miss from a haircut place is washing your hair like Fantasic Sam's used to do. Covid did kill that vibe but this place has the bowls and sinks. If they added hair washing I would give them 5 read more

Long hair Joanna did a great job and has a lovely personality. Greeted and serviced quickly.

Do NOT go here unless you want a terrible haircut! I'm not sure what school they received their training from. This a haircut my child could have done. I would've saved $25. Do you see the two rainbow lines that are in there too? They're not supposed to be there. That's not a special request design. The hairdressers need more training. Management needs to verify employees skill sets. read more

I've always had a great experience here with the lady with the dreads. She cuts my son's hair perfectly! Today I had an Asian lady named Jen and she was so rude to me! Zero customer service. All I said nicely was could you cut his hair a little more in the back? And she was like "I'm not done! Excuse!!!!! (Telling me to move away)" My son even said she was super mean. He couldn't believe she said that to me.. read more

Didn't get her name but she was an older local Asian lady. Poor customer service. I sensed it as soon as I sat. She asked me how much I wanted to cut off and I said about 1-2 inches however much you think I need to, and she said "so is it 1 or 2 because there's a big difference". I replied "1 1/2 inches then" . It was only about 10:30 in the morning they just opened and I could tell she wasn't happy. Then she proceeded to comb my hair with her comb, I had a tangle in the back and she walked away to the back and came back with a wet brush and told me "try take your tangles out for me". I have never had to brush my own hair during a haircut, am I expecting to much? But the way she said it was just rude. Long story short she ended up cutting about 2-3 inches off and I asked for face frame layers that were so blunt (doesn't blend in at all). I shouldn't expect much I know it's just great clips but I felt like she was struggling on the layers, maybe she needs more training? Or should've passed me on to someone who knows how. I've had such great experiences with the manager cutting my hair in the past, he was awesome and so pleasant. read more

Mikayla is the best ever. One of the other ladies here cut my hair (some of the bangs in the front) and I did not like how she cut them, but Mikayla came in and saved the day. She is so personable, understanding, compassionate, and grounded. One of the best when it comes to customer service. She's real, and simple and straight to the point, but also very kind. She is always making sure you guys are on the same page before she does anything to your hair. My haircut always looks amazing after Mikayla does it (seen her a few times now). If you go here, definitely ask for her!! She's a TRUE Professional and deserves more credit! We need more people like Mikayla! Thank you!! read more

The first time I went here they did a good job. However I just went. I told her I want the top shorter like around 1 1/4". For some reason the stylist proceeds to give me a hair cut like I'm going to boot camp tomorrow. It was very obvious when I sat down my hair was long, but it was blended. So I have absolutely no clue why in the world she would cut my hair like this. read more

Oh gosh. I don't know how you can look at the first picture of the last time we got a haircut and think this is how it is supposed to look. I showed her this picture several times before and during the haircut. I stopped the lady asking her if it was getting too short and she said "that's what I see in the picture, 1/2 inch on the top" I showed her that the hair is longer and being brushed over and she said "no it looks the same". Then walked over to the register to charge me asked if I needed a receipt then dismissively walked away. I still tipped her because I feel bad not to, but no thank you from her or anything. And when my son asked for a lollipop (they're kept behind the counter) she completely ignored him. He had to ask the other lady working there, who kindly offered him one. read more

Great Clips - First picture was showed to hairstylist before we began. Second (after the cut) according to the hairstylist looked just the same - Hair Salons Near Me - Kailua, Hawaii

I asked the lady please make a very skinny part with my side part. Obviously she's making me look down while she does it. Then she makes the line crooked and pretty much a void exactly what I did not want that why I kept telling her make a skinny line. I don't recommend coming here at all. Good things I was watching her cut my sons hair because he would have looked like a poodle. She has the audacity to tell me oh looks so nice...DONT GO HERE!!! read more

A special thank you to my hair stylist EFTHEMIA for fixing my hair! I walked in when they first opened at 9 AM to no line and was seated immediately. I was also informed that you can book an appt. online and see wait times for the salon too. I wil probably use this service next time to avoid long lines, pick a certain hair stylist again, etc. Im not a hair person but EFTHEMIA gave me tons of options and opinions for what would work best for me, my face, and the look I was going for. Im generally indecisive and clueless but EFTHEMIA made me feel powerful with the choices I made. Im super happy with my look. She even honored a coupon I had for a $14.99 haircut and didnt try to add on any additional services (AKA extra charges) knowing I didnt want them. No washing or styling, just a haircut, which is what I wanted. read more

Nice hair stylists work here. I've always gotten a decent haircut no matter which one I get!

Please don't think I'm a snob, but I usually get my hair done by my regular stylist in a different salon. If you know me, then you know how special & colorful my hair is to me. (In other words, my hair is usually green, purple, blue & needs to be taken care of or else it can be damaged beyond repair.) I haven't had a haircut in almost a year. My hair had gotten pretty long for my standards. It had reached the middle of my back. I was done with it. At 5:15pm on a Sunday I decided it needed to be cut. Checked my Yelp app to see who was or if anyone was open. If not, I was going to chop it myself. That, my friends, NEVER ends well with me. Hubby told me to check Great Clips. My Yelp app told me that they closed in 45 minutes. I jumped in the car & drove off. Great Clips in Kailua is located in a tiny strip mall across from Foodland and Big City Diner. There is a small parking lot. The lot was pretty open when I got there. When I walked in, I was told that there were 2 other people in front of me. The screen displayed my name and estimated at 20-30 minute wait. Wow. That's cool. I was pretty sure that they would turn me away because it was so close to closing time. But they didn't. They weren't even rude. Woohooo! As I waited, I checked out the place. There are about 10 stylist chairs. The prices were displayed in a large board near the check in/register. There are hair supplies in displays around the place. Everything was clean. There is also a Pokémon gym/stop nearby, so you can spend time battling or spinning for items. My actual wait time was about 15 minutes. I was called up by a delightful stylist. (I didn't catch her name.). I told her that I needed to cut off about an inch just to clean up my dead ends. She was very professional. She combed it out to show exactly where my hair would be after the cut. She gave me options and asked what I wanted to do. After telling her what I wanted, she cut. And it was lovely! She also gave me tips on how to handle my hair. Yay! The price was $18 + tax. Throw in a top & it was still cheaper than what I normally pay. Even better. There also $10.99 prepaid haircut cards that you can buy & use. She also told me that Safeway sometimes has coupon on the back of the receipts. There was even a coupon on my receipt! Giving that one to my hubby. Would I come here again, sure! If I need that quick chop, this is the place! 78 read more

New location in Kailua (Hekili Street). Parking in front. Last few stalls are kind of awkward - they're past the exit, so you have to reverse back into the lot a bit in order to leave. Not that big of a deal, just weird. This weekend (7/15 - 7/16) was their opening weekend, so haircuts were only $5.99! Great deal! Not sure how long this will last however. Great Clips is an excellent option for those who aren't too picky about their haircuts - perfect for our 6 year olds. And speaking of kids, this one seems relatively kid/family friendly. Stylists were patient (and quick), and there were a few toys in the waiting area to keep the kids occupied (which was much appreciated). Tip: Use the online check-in to save your spot in line and save yourself some time. Excellent experience! We will definitely be back. read more

Found in small strip mall across from Foodland. There is parking for customers. Checkin online is encouraged. You get ahead of those that are walkins. Staff friendly in greeting and checking in. Angie was nice and consulted and gave me what I requested. She's been styling for 16 Years. New and clean store. I see it's recently opened. Haircuts are $18. Looking for scissor over comb shaped and texturized. I used my prepaid $9 card to get a haircut and tipped $5. read more

Brought my son in for a haircut. Pointed to the poster, so that there wasn't any confusion regarding the cut we wanted. Also, told her not to cut the top. They gave my son a military cut and tried to say it was a faux hawk. First, the picture I pointed to, which is a huge poster in the sitting area, was not a faux hawk. Second, even when she asked me what I thought of the cut and I said it was shorter than the picture and didn't actually look like the picture, she just said "Well, that's a faux hawk." No apology or even recognition that her cut looked nothing like the poster. Afterwards I realized she gave my son the same exact haircut as the man before him. The only difference was she pointed my son's hair in the middle, while she combed the man's hair to the side. I'm pretty sure the reviews on here are fake or solicited vs the 1-2 star reviews that are actual experiences. What's the point of asking how you want hair cut, if you are just going to cut it the way YOU want?! I'm glad I had a coupon and my son's hair will grow back. Paying $18 for a cut you didn't want would have been even more maddening! read more

if i could give this place a 0 i would . Since nobody wants to listen to my haircut request i might as well go f myself. This place should be called outlandish cuts. Every time i've been here the barbers decide they want to do something different to my hair. I ask for a mid skin fade every time and somehow end up with the barber giving me a one guard to the top drop fade. It's embarrassing how many times i have to correct the barbers there. give me the clippers and i will probably do better . read more

Donna gave me my perfect haircut. She looked up my phone number and recreated the haircut I expect and am very happy with. Thanks Donna.

Good hours, friendly stylists, and parking both in a small lot and on the street. Very happy with my haircut. Will be back.

Went to get a new cut and I am so happy Jennifer was my stylist and she did an awesome job! My hair is naturally curly and a little flyaway but she gave me a cut that I have not gotten in years! She cut it to a perfect length so when it dries it sits on my shoulders and added beautiful layers to give just enough shape and frame to my round face. Jennifer is very personable and we talked the whole time. I highly recommend Jennifer. I think her skills are very well honed. read more

I was very happy with the service and my hair cut, especially when it only cost me $21 and a tip. The guy who checked me in was really nice. Tracy, who cut my hair, was really nice too. She listened to exactly what I said about quirks with my hair and how I wanted it and did just what I asked. She also offered that if I it wasn't quite what I wanted or something needed fixing, I could come back within a week and they would cut it some more. I only had a 5-10 minute wait and I hadn't booked online. I had just walked in. Very happy with this visit. Thanks Tracy! read more

Had a sign in their window "The Great Haircut Sale, Haircuts $9.99". Since it was half off what I had budgeted, I told my younger son he could get a salon cut at the same time as his brother and signed him up only for them to end up telling me the sale ended yesterday and they forgot to take the sign down and then they went outside and tore the sign down. At least I asked about it so could figure it out before I had to pay another $20. They said they wouldn't honor their advertisement and so at the last minute I had to disappoint my younger son by telling him he couldn't get his haircut. read more

We've been going to great clips for many years with mixed reviews. However, this was, hands down, our best experience at a great clips. My two boys had terrible experiences in the past. Called regarding wait time and was told 1 person in front of me and 2 haircutters working (10 min wait). I mentioned my name and informed that I was coming now. Got there within 7 min. and the 2 haircutters were busy and no one acknowledged me. Finally, after the other 2 customers were done and paid (18 min) only 1 lady looked at me and asked did u check in online? I said no. I responded, "I called." She then rudely said I HAD to check in online. And wait is 1 hr?? Now keep in mind that there was only 1 family there. No other customers. If that was the case, why didn't the lady that I spoke to over the phone mention that? All for nothing..... So lesson learned with great clips, they don't honor phone calls. Only online reservations. And be warned you may have crappy customer service. I have been there multiple times before with a phone reservation. Different haircutters every time but, they were all friendly. Decent cuts each time. One can only assume that the ladys working this day don't work well at busy times. Questionable if I may return. read more

Popped into Great Cuts as I was in the Kailua area and needed a haircut very badly. Awesome experience. Awesome haircut from Tony, the owner of all 5 Oahu locations. I am used to getting very bad haircuts because I have a bunch of cowlicks all over my head. LOVE my hairSTYLE! Today I had my first visit to the Kailua Salon located at 111 Hekili street; for my long awaited haircut appointment because of my hesitation of allowing anyone to touch my hair. The truth is, it's the only hair I've got and although bad haircuts inevitably grow out, I am at a crucial point in my life where my age is catching up to my entire physical body. I just turned 49 on the 18th of May(Saturday) and I'm convinced I am going through "the change" that all of us women experience in our lifetime. I am moody, tired, grumpy and let's not exclude the substantial sudden growth of white hair on my head and simultaneously losing all my young beautiful hair in the trade of an older model of single strands. It's no secret that as we age, our hair changes in elasticity, color, and texture. Any-who... I made this appointment this morning; which by the way is so awesomely convenient to do online; with great faith in their name, "GREAT CLIPS", and knowing that cuts start at $14(cheap! Another gold star!). THAT'S IT! The salons' name and price of a haircut! Seems ridiculous? Not to me. And that ridiculousness turned into a DIVINE appointment once again... Thank You Jesus! Please excuse me for what I am about to say, but just as real as my body breaking down with age yet my spirit growing stronger, I admit to forgetting any new information presented to my brain, instantly upon arrival unless the information being presented is consistent in my life. Do you know what I mean? lol In short, I forgot the name of the gal who did my 'actual' haircut (re Eric J's review); more importantly, though, is the straight talk that she did a FABULOUS job with my hair! My hair was looking dried out, overgrown and on its way to the "hairyard" to die... And this wonderful woman brought my hair back to life!!!! LOVE my hairSTYLE! " Thank you! " once again angel hair-dresser! We couldn't have met at a more perfect time! I appreciate your work and am especially grateful for the UPlift your talent has given my spirit not to mention the years in age the cut has knocked off of my look. An overall, pleasantly satisfying experience for me as I know it was for you because I remember what you said when you finished, " Wow, that was fun! " It made me SMILE like a child because when I saw the cut in its entirety, it is better than I pictured, and exactly what I wanted. So in keeping my promise to spread the word about "GREAT HAIR CLIPS" and what a pleasurable experience it was for me, this review is just my start! I've already gotten favoring views from all my co-workers!!!!!!!! MAHALO & ALOHA read more

I went in today to get a basic round one length haircut. Btw I have wavy hair. The lady I had decided to semi-wet just the ends of my hair which I thought was really odd and when I got home and let my hair completely dry my hair was uneven. And that's not even the worst part. When I was done with the haircut and got into my car, I had male hair on my arm from the previous guy she was cutting. I am currently a student in hair dressing school and this place is not very sanitary! That's unexceptionable. read more
