In fact, I had many pleasurable…read moreexperiences there years ago (10+ years) and was excited to meet an old friend for lunch who had suggested the eatery. So because this was a meet-up, I did not take any pictures of my food. My experience was so lacking from years ago, that afterwards I felt I needed to share it sans photos. The staff was extremely friendly and the food came out quickly. It was the quality that was lacking. I'm sure there have been many changes in chefs/cooks over the past decade, but these staples: bowl of chili and sweet potato fries were just lacking. Both have been on the menu since I used to go there long ago. The chili was watery- almost like a tomato soup with a bit of beef. Toppings were nice: sour cream, onions, cheddar cheese. The sweat potato fries were overdone and a smaller portion for the price, but I understand the cost issues restaurants face today, so I had no problem with the price. The side pineapple sauce tasted just like it did years ago, so I was happy with that consistency. I'm hoping this was just an off day for the kitchen staff. The host and wait staff were exceptional.

Man, so sad about this place! Decided to stop in here for my birthday and was extremely…read moredisappointed. To start this place is a "sit down" but you have to order at the bar and they bring it to you. We were a tad thrown off with that since they literally had waiters and people roaming around, didn't make sense to me. But that was just the start! We decided to order nachos and a pretzel to start the meal. The pretzel was disgusting, hard and lacking flavor and the $14 nachos was a side plate with a small portion of nachos on it. I asked the server what was with the size of the nachos and he said he though they were normal. They aren't, you go to a normal bar and for $14 comes out a platter with nachos that are loaded. Then our mains came out, my wife's salad was gross, lacking flavor and with dry chicken and my burger was decent. For $90 this meal should have been WAYYY better. We left feeling very disappointed and will definitely not be coming back.

Since we've moved, we are only 5 minutes from this hidden Gem. I love the outdoor patio and very laid back inside. Clientele is definitely chilled. This brewery is very unique and smart! You walk in, a hostess asked for a credit card to scan on file. They give us a card. And with this, you go to any station and pick your poison. Beer and wine. Whether you want a flight size glass, pint or snifter. You are in control of how much beer/wine you want. It also gives you a pricing on the how much an ounce. Not feeling beer? They have a bar that makes specialty cocktails. Hungry? You order that on a touch screen. From appetizers, salads, and pizzas. You get a buzzer. Once your meal is ready, you will pick it up at the window. Such an easy transaction! We ordered: Symphony Vienna lager Pay Joe Pilsner Woody's wheat Paddle Boat pale ale Spekulicious cookie ale Life's Too Schwarz schwarzbier Spicy Chocolate 7" caprese pizza 7" controversy pizza Everything was perfect! The beers were smooth, nice finish, and flavorful. The only one I wasn't impressed with was the spicy chocolate. Did not have a kick. The pizzas were the right size and was really good! The balsamic on the side paired well. They have live bands and offer happy hour. I love this place. I can see us being regulars here.

I settled on the Waves of Grain ale which I enjoyed. We ordered #1 pizza - toppings were very good but the crust was ordinary (did not eat the crusts, a sure sign of a lackluster dough). Service was friendly but spare (it's almost all self-serve, so not much of a role for staff except to direct confused patrons). The space was open with lots of seating. Ambiance is industrial/parking lot. It's located where the old (and kitschy) Rancho Rankin motel used to be, which old time Cincinnatians might remember.

From the outside it really looks unassuming and maybe even a little sketchy. Its kind of an odd concept since it technically is a gas station convenience store. But hey, we live in Ohio where there are *drive thru beer* joints. Oh what an age we live in. I ventured inside recently while waiting for a food truck order (they often host these here). Upon entering there is the smell of pretzel, which they are apparently also famous for. I'll have to come back and be the judge of that another time when I didn't already order food. I was instantly greeted by the bartender. I chose to browse around for a bit, and he was great at answering any questions I had. One of the ltd release beers I found was also on tap, so he let me try it first! So they have pre packaged cans, bottles, and 40oz. Most of it is in coolers. They also have a ton of beer on tap that can be consumed there, or taken home in growlers (hence the store name). There is a large bar with seating and various indoor tables. For the nicer weather, there are also outdoor tables. Because the store is next to a dog park they even offer Fido's Freezzys dog ice cream. You will have to ask for it because they keep it behind the counter. I'm not sure how this has changed recently but they do fun Trivia nights among other events. Don't sleep on this unique place if you are a lover of the craft brew!
