I went to this place on a busy Saturday night and I had a wonderful time. First, the ambiance is very cool. This is a small restaurant, but has a cool vibe. I highly recommend making a reservation. The staff members were very sweet and explained the menu thoroughly. They even let us sample traditional Peruvian juices. I ordered the ceviche which was amazingly fresh and very flavorful. Ceviche was invented in Peru so I was very excited to try this dish and it was the best ceviche I have ever had. I also ordered the lomo saltado which is a beef stir fry over fries and served with rice. It was so flavorful and the steak was tender. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish my plate but I ended up eating it all. Overall, I had a great experience at The Red Llama! I highly recommend. read more

Food was delicious. I had a rice entree kinda like a fried rice. Service was nice, waiter came back to check on us in a timely manner, bathrooms were clean, had a warm ambiance - it was a cute place for a night with friends. read more

Delicious!!!! Best food I've Fe had in CO. A bit expensive and no lunch menu. But worth it.

The hubs and I went with friends for a catch up with a Friday night dinner. What an excellent way to kick off a weekend. For starters the maracuja pisco sours were fantastic. Cold, refreshing and not too sweet. Three of our group ordered the beef heart and I opted for the mixed seafood ceviche. We added a side of sweet potato fries. Everything was absolutely delicious and we pretty much cleared our plates along with basically a pitcher of pisco sours. Service was really fast and friendly and overall we had a top notch experience. read more

Food and service are A+! My first time trying out Peruvian food, and it was delicious! The decorations, music, and samplers that they provide you are wonderful. I came after 6pm, and there was enough seating. My partner and I got seated immediately, got water and acorn nuts (not exactly sure what it is), and our server approached us at the right moments with samplers (passionate fruit and a cinnamon-infused juice). We both got Lomo Saltado (he got beef and chicken, I got beef), and it was good enough portion size that $30 was worth it. He got full (clear plate) and I got leftovers. While we were eating, the servers brought out a drum and sang happy birthday, which provided great ambiance. The bathrooms are really nice as well, and had hair ties and baby materials (diapers, wipes, hair ties) provided. The service is amazing! The people there really care about their customers. Try out the photo wall if you get the chance, it's a nice area. read more

The food and service was great! Can't recommend anything because everything was perfect! All the other 5 star reviews are correct so try everything they say. Go there and have fun with it. The staff knows they have something special, so they help explain everything! Go! Don't think about it, just go... Oh, do make a reset if you are... it gets busy! read more

First time at The Red Llama and I know I will be going back often. The food was tasty and the flight of salsas were amazing! I ordered the steak lomo saltado and this is a solid dish. Marisol, the owner is a personality! She brings 5 star service to each and every table. She reminds me of all things great old school restaurants where the owner would stop by each table to meet, greet and thank their patrons. Whether it's a lunch among friends or date night, I would highly recommend! read more

Some co-workers were heading over here and it was on my list so I jumped aboard. We had a wide range of entrees. I thought most were good... the service was fantastic and the staff was wonderful. I enjoyed the quaint setting as well. read more

What a gem. This is a chef owned restaurant and their passion shows in every aspect. The food is amazing and huge portions. The owner came by several times and taught us a lot about Peruvian cuisine. You have to check this place out. Start to finish we loved everything. The tamal was unusual and very tasty. My wife had a fried rice dish that had an amazing flavor. The churro is not to be missed as well as the ice cream. Everything is fresh and made in house. We will return again and again. read more

Meh, I've had better. And the service was absolutely terrible. We needed more sauce and a girl we asked literally pointed to our server and said to ask him. We did, once he finally made it back around and it took another 15 min to get sauce to eat now cold, dry chicken with. The lomo Saltado tasted ok and I could compare with a less flavorful version of Chinese peppered steak. The chicken had flavorful skin with great sauces but was dry. I wouldn't recommend and I wouldn't come back. read more

We loved the Red Llama. If you've never had Peruvian food, this may spoil any future experiences in the Denver area! The food was fantastic. We ordered chicharron, leche de tigre ceviche, platanos, the tamal, lomo saltado with the pasta, arroz chaufa, and the passion fruit cheese cake for dessert. We loved every bite! So flavorful, and you could tell it was made with love. Cocktails were also great, sangria and the pisco sours (try with maracuya or chicha!) Service was also top notch. Everyone was helpful, happy and provided wonderful suggestions. We'll have to go back because my dad wasn't with us and I know he was jealous! read more

Wow, a 5 star restaurant in the Denver area!!! My partner and I went here because we were on our way back from the Springs and we've never had Peruvian food before so gave the Red Llama a try. Let me tell you, we were NOT disappointed!!! We didn't think a small place like this would be busy, so we didn't have reservations, but this place was full! However, we were still seated immediately. Granted, this was coincidence because this place was BUSY, and they take their reservations very seriously! You say 5pm, they have a table for you at 5pm; reserved with your name on it, as soon as you arrive! Not like a lot of places that just put you in an already established line. The place is clean and atmosphere is authentic; from the decor to the background music. The staff is more than just professional, they treat you like you're family coming over for a dinner party. We were wondering why different people were coming to our table to check on us when we read a little notice on the table explaining that their staff aren't assigned tables, they just take care of everyone as needed. What a great concept! Our table was constantly being watched for more water, removal of a finished dish, or anything we needed, without constantly asking us. We did still get asked if we needed anything, just not harassed about it like they were trying to hurry us out. Instead, we felt welcomed to stay and enjoy as long as we wanted. The food is top notch! Now, I'm not a fish type of guy, but my partner is and he loved the ceviche. We also tried a stir fry beef dish with tenderloin strips, and the Anticucho, which was the star of the night! Neither of us has had beef heart before, and the sound of it didn't sound super appetizing as we're not generally organ meat eaters. However, this was exquisite! We will definitely be back for more of this! I also like that some of their menu is rotating; they don't cook the same things every night, they have variety to keep you coming back for new things. Another great concept! I could go on about this place because there were more little things that we liked, but I'm trying not to write a book. You'll just have to take a chance and give this place a try! I will say that whomever the person or people are who conceptualized this restaurant, they deserve credit and an award because this is definitely rare in the U.S., and one of a kind in Denver. My only complaint is that I wish they had another location in downtown Denver. All downtown has in this area of food is typical chain Mexican places with average food. A Peruvian place like this would be awesome and get lots of business as long as they kept the same concept and quality of food and service. Thank You Red Llama! read more

Lovely place - I love the decor inside. Service was fantastic (shoutout to Rosa!). Everything we ordered was great- super well seasoned and cooked well. Nothing chewy! The chicha morada was delicious- sweet cinnamon purple corn drink! I highly recommend if you haven't tried it. We didn't get a chance to look at dessert but I bet it would've good. Would love to come here again. read more

I've been to several Peruvian places in the US but this was amazing and unique, from the ingredients to the presentation. The meal started with canchas, which were so good we bought a jar to take home. Calling them corn nuts would be doing them a disservice; these are their own delicious thing! My wife had the rotisserie chicken and fries. Steak fries are often limp, but these had a satisfying crunch. The chicken was tasty and perhaps a bit dry, but I've had much drier rotisserie chicken. This might be the first time I've had anticucho (beef heart), and the texture is just exquisite. It's at once chewy and tender, and the tissue is so fine-grained, unlike a typical steak with large tough fibers. No need to cut across the grain here. The corn that came with my entree had a great texture unlike most corn you'd find in other restaurants: much starchier and not as sweet. Its subtle flavor made it a great base for the huge array of sauces that came with our meal. The decor was vibrant and colorful, and the noise level was moderate even when the restaurant was busiest. The service was friendly, attentive, and surprisingly informative! Our server offered tidbits of information tying the food and drinks to Peruvian culture and the specially imported ingredients that they use. Chef Jordano came out to say hi, and was warm and welcoming. We definitely want to come back and try more. Reservations are recommended if you come at peak times but whatever you do, definitely come! read more

I highly recommend checking out the Red Llama if you are looking for a top-notch restaurant option apart from the downtown/RiNo/LoDo/highlands/Cap Hill scene. Parking is a bit tight for sure. As this little gem is tucked away in a strip mall. However, it's free. So that's a win! The vibe inside is super cute! You immediately feel the Peruvian aesthetic. The menu is QR code - so bring a fully charged phone. They do this because their menu changes constantly as there's over 400 Peruvian dishes they rotate through. You won't have just one server but the whole staff helping you at any time. So it's a very future-forward concept that way. This is a great spot for 2-6 guests. You can make a reservation and I would encourage it. It was very busy! Cocktails were excellent! I had the llamarita and my friend had the best sangria I've ever tasted. I had major order envy even though my margarita was still very good. Our food was delicious! We started with the Causa Potato. Then we shared the Chicken and the Grilled Octopus. Both were perfectly prepared! We will definitely be back to explore the menu further and save room for dessert next time. read more

We went here tonight, and the service was terrible. They don't have paper menus, so you have to order on your phone. You have to tap on each menu item to find out what it is, and the menu is not well organized according to type of food. First I ordered chicken, but a waitress finally appeared just to tell me that no chicken was available. So I had to scroll through the phone all over again. My husband's food came out ten minutes before mine. My beef heart tasted good, but it was supposed to come with three sauces. They never arrived at all. read more

Visiting from Illinois and decided to try Peruvian cuisine for the first time--and The Red Llama did not disappoint! The restaurant was packed, but the service was outstanding. Amazing food and atmosphere. I was looking for some ceviche and happened across other reviews so I thought I would give it a try. They definitely didn't disappoint. We got the pasta saltado and the classic ceviche. Both items were great and I would definitely go back to try them again. Next time I'm looking forward to the mixed seafood ceviche and possibly the roasted chicken. Honestly everything looked good on everyone else's plates. The service was great. Everyone was friendly. There was a bit of a line , we had to wait about 40 minutes to get in but definitely worth the wait. read more

A friend and I went to a local Christmas market, where a Peruvian vendor told us this place was the best in town. "Definitely go early," he said, "because it gets crowded." And it sure does. We got there at 5:30pm and it was packed - we waited about 10 mins. But the food was amazing, so it was worth it! The ceviche tasted like something from La Mar, and the yucca fries were perfect. The lomo saltado was super authentic as well. Since it's so busy, they use a lot of servers to keep things moving, so you might have a different person each time - but they'll get you what you need. Make sure to try to the green sauce! read more

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff super friendly! They guided us through the menu and let us try their house made juices. Tried The Red Llama for the first time, and it was also my first time having Peruvian food--what a great introduction! The tamale was incredibly flavorful, with just the right texture, and the lomo saltado (their signature dish) was the perfect mix of savory and satisfying. I also got the passion fruit juice, which was so refreshing and unique. We ended on a high note with their passion fruit cheesecake, which was creamy and just the right amount of sweet and tart. Food gets a big thumbs up! I ordered the lomo saltado and that's all she wrote! The ambiance certainly does its job and the restaurant feels very inviting. Service on the other hand is hit and miss. We were ignore a number of times and our original waitress didn't seem to care or mind us at all. Water refills were slow too. Towards the end of the night another blond waitress came to help and she did a far better job. Regardless, I would certainly return for the food alone. It is both hot in temperature and flavorful. I took my cousins to Red Llama for a memorable experience and they got one! My cousins loved the festive decor and how attentive the staff was. I loved the amazing cuisine with the beef heart being the dish I was looking forward to trying and it did not disappoint. I told my husband I wouldn't eat it all and it took all my willpower to save him some! The heart was still tender even when sliced thinly and it had amazing charred flavor reminiscent of Japanese yakitori. I will definitely be going again! The cutest restaurant with delicious food! Upon arriving, the hostess greeted us immediately and helped us get seated. The restaurant was packed and we had high hopes for the food. Let me start off with, WOW !!! That's the whole review jk... The Red Llama let me start off with the hospitality I received (from the young lady who drove from Vermont, sry I forgot your name lol) she was superb 10/10... always attentive. The food was oooo mmmm gggg... soooo delicious. I started off with the Peruvian tamale , those flavors were so amazing and pairing it up with the that onion tangy side (mouth watering) I can eat that stuff all day . Then I ordered a lomo saltado "red llama style" which means it comes with chaufa rice instead of white rice ... sooooo freaking good ... and yes I ordered an extra side of that onion side ( in my pictures) . I also got an alcoholic pisco sour with maracuyá (passion fruit) , I do wish it had a bit of more alcohol cuz I didn't taste any lol ... Love the layout of the place and all the Peruvian references ... honestly one of the best Peruvian places in all Colorado. 10 , 10, 10s across the board. And please do me the favor and try their National soda sooo good . Can't wait to go back . Big portions so make sure you go with an appetite read more
