A giant shark above the patio bar
Emily W.

After a walk at the Weimar Institute, we decided to check out The Red Frog near Rollins Lake--and I'm so glad we did. Seriously, this place is a total hidden gem. The staff was so nice--I really wish I remembered the bartender's name, because she was amazing. She said she'd worked there for a long time, and honestly, I couldn't give her enough compliments. She was fun, friendly, super welcoming, and just had great energy. Her customer service was top-tier and totally added to the whole vibe. The bar itself is wild in the best way. There's a giant shark hanging from the ceiling, red fire hydrant-style light fixtures, planes, and a plethora of tchotchkes--just so many random, awesome things to look at. It's quirky, fun, and actually cozy in the best way. You can tell it has a story. We sat outside on the patio and the view is unreal. You're up on this hill looking out over the forest and mountains, there's old vintage trucks and a boat just chillin' on the lawn, and even a plane hidden on the side yard. It's a uniquely magical little spot tucked in the mountains. And the food? It's hot dogs, hamburgers and fries, but it's perfect. They don't overdo it--it's simple, good, and exactly what you want while soaking in the vibe. Honestly, if you're anywhere near Colfax or Rollins Lake, stop here. It's fun, it's different, and I'll definitely be back.

This is such a cute little dive bar. Was not expecting the spectacular covered patio and view. Quirky little dive bar with all sorts of frog decor. Worth a visit! Cheers

Would recommend! Post hike rehydration station. Don't tell your friends. Sit on the back patio for the views and the nostalgia of second hand smoke. Frosty beer & jalapeño poppers hit the spot. Dive bar with a view. To be honest (from one lesbian to another) some of the clientele might be a tad homophobic but the bartender is really cool and has excellent trail tips. Worth the stop!

Cheeseburger, french fries (mountain), jalapeño poppers.

Great music in the background, mellow/country. Service was fast for drinks, a little slow for the food. Burger was really good, french fries were good, though a little soft. Jalapeño poppers were decent. I would go back again, especially for just drinks.

Craig P said turn off at the Colfax exit. Just off highway 174 is this rustic bar over looking a timber filled valley. As we pulled in around 2:30 on a Friday afternoon, we all rolled our eyes. The parking lot was full of motorcycles. What was Craig thinking taking us girls to a biker bar ? But walk straight thru the bar to the back where there's a large back porch bar. (Full of bikers, just enjoying the view and beer like us). The view is spectacular. Miles of trees. Stone outcroppings. Blue skies. Red frogs hanging from trees. And timed right you can see a train ride the mountain side. Service was quick and with a smile. The menu prices amused us more than the bikers. See picture below. $1.87 for corn dog. $6.05 for cheeseburger. Cute. Two cheeseburgers, mountain of fries, wings, corn dog and five adult beverages had a check of $45 for four people. Decent food and drink with stellar view at great prices- acceptable !!! Swing in for a break from I 80 driving and check the view and food out. You may even get a fist bump and a smile from a very large biker.

We found this place by accident and thought "why not?" So glad we did!…read moreWe enjoyed the food and the service was great! I had the French dip which was yummy. My partner and I were on a trip to Coalfax, so we decided to look this place up. While I had read reviews that criticized the waitresses and staff for their poor attitudes, I wanted to give the place a chance and not let negative opinions deter me. After all, everyone has different preferences and experiences. We chose to sit outside, which was a lovely idea, but unfortunately, the area was overrun with flies, making it quite uncomfortable and we had a hard time enjoying the experience. I understand that bugs are common in outdoor settings, especially in the woods, but I have a suggestion that might help alleviate the problem. I recommend adding a few more ceiling fans to circulate the air and deter the flies. I noticed that you already have some fans, but they're not enough. Please consider addressing this issue to enhance the overall experience of sitting outside in your beautiful outdoor seating area. Moving on to the service, the waitress was decent, but there were some uhm issues that made us laugh. When we placed our orders, we asked if there was a dinner menu, as my partner wanted steak. However, the menu we received was more suited for brunch. The waitress informed us that dinner wasn't actually available for another hour, but she was able to substitute some items for us and make us a dinner plate. Then our orders came and this is when we started laughing. Every time a healthier dish was brought out the waitress would hand it to my partner, who is smaller than me and every time something unhealthy was brought It was automatically assumed I had ordered the unhealthy food. It was actually the opposite but what actually bothered me is the waitress never asked us who's food was who's but she took the order lmfao so that made no sense. I understand that I'm the larger person, but it was a bit off-putting. We couldn't help but laugh as I've learned to laugh at awkward situations, but my partner wanted to comment, but I asked them not to. It wasn't worth ruining our dinner. Anyway the waitress seemed tired, uninterested, and moody but ultimately was kind enough I guess. I understand that we're all tired and have personal issues going on but you're at work. I would appreciate a smile and friendly treatment. Not a moody, uninterested, annoyed seeming waitress. I'm extremely kind, polite, and friendly, so when someone isn't that way to me, it's disappointing. Anyway all in all i actually liked this place. The food and the prices were great for the place it was. But please fix the fly issue and please remind your staff to be friendly to customers and watch the way they carry themselves PLEASE!

The cocktail menu is thoughtfully curated across a wide range of spirits, with enough creativity and variety to appeal to just about every palate. My wife and I especially enjoy coming here as the seasons change to see what new creations they've introduced, while still being able to fall back on favorites from their regular menu. They were knowledgeable and kind, and even went out of their way to get me the best bang for my buck when I was trying to customize my dairy-free pizza, and realized that I was creating a pizza that already exists on the menu haha. They also provide gluten-free options, and I love that!
