3 Tenders w/ Side Loaded Wedges
Brionna K.

Not sure what took me so long to try! Martin R. helped us upon entering. Not only was he super nice and chill but very knowledgeable about the menu. I informed him it was our first time and he was great at explaining everything including the spice options. We ordered two piece tender with fries and Mac and cheese and a 3 piece tenders with fries. We ordered it with spark. He was even kind enough to let us try the spark spice prior to ordering it which was a huge help in making our decision. Everything looked amazing and tasted even better. I will also mention the tenders were huge lol and we had plenty of dipping sauce as well. We didn't wait that long once we placed our order and there wasn't a long line. Also PLENTY OF PARKING!! 10/10! Such a great first time experience. We will be back. So many others things we would like to try.

Chicken $2 Thursday
Jenny Z.

Stopped by for their $2 chicken tender Thursday deal and it was definitely bang for your buck! You get a big piece of chicken breast coated with a crispy batter and dry rub of your choice. Pretty cool that they had various levels of spice. Service was quick to take our order and I love that they have their own parking lot since LA usually has street parking. The inside was clean with a good amount of seats available. The corn ribs were more on the chewier than sweet and crunchy side and a tad difficult to eat. The chicken tenders were crispy and delicious. With their Thursday deal so affordable, I would def come back for them again! They also have a rewards program and $5 real milkshakes. A great spot :)

I have picked up from here quite a few times for delivery for Grubhub. It's definitely popular here on the west side. A lot of of the kids that get out of school come here and eat outside which on beautiful days like today is a great place to enjoy friends and food. They have recently put up signs for a lunch special. It's $9.99 and it includes fries or coleslaw. And it's not just for one item to choose from. Attached is a card that has all the items that are included in this deal. This special got me in the door so they are marketing tactics worked for me. I haven't tried their shakes, but I would like to. They have cold drinks, but not fountain drinks. That's kind of a bummer for me. They have sauces you can choose from also. They have parking which you know is a plus here. They also have seating indoors. So after getting home and indulging in the nice large piece of chicken in my sandwich, in my opinion, it was boring. I added their sauce that they add on their chicken and I added ranch. So what that said it wasn't great alone. They had pickles and a small amount of coleslaw. I like this deal I might be back for it and a shake and maybe try some tenders I'm not sure but I'm definitely going back to Dave's Hot Chicken so much better.

One of my favorite places to get chicken tenders. I've tried Dave's hot chicken but the chicken at red chickz has the crunchiest batter I've tried. It's similar to Korean fried chicken so not sure if they double fry it but it seems to work. I've tried their medium hot level but the bonfire level was just perfect level of spiciness for me. If you can handle spicy food then I would recommend you try that. Wish they had more locations in the LA or OC area which would make me get it more.

Starting off service was nice. Area was nice and clean. Got the loaded Mac and cheese this time. It was very solid. I think flavor wise, their signature sauce without the buffalo is already a bit on the tangy side for those like that. As for individual components, the Mac and cheese was solid, slightly above average but nothing crazy, the tenders were same as last time so pretty consistent, and the potato wedges at the bottom were actually really good. Great outer crisp and soft inside. Put all together, a bit carb heavy but enjoyable! That being said, I'd say this is the go to here, or a combo like this because the tenders alone isn't extremely juicy but solid for sure! Definitely shareable with two people with a couple extra tenders since it's extremely carb heavy. The serving size is huge, but I do think the ratio could be better since there was definitely an excess of the wedges in comparison to Mac and chicken. Def better than the first two times, would go back for the Thursday deal for sure!

The Seven levels of heat, Country and Cool have no spice. Glow has seasoning for zesty spice not heat spice and Spark starts the heat
Rick S.

The Red Chickz lives up to the social media hype and actually in a world of over promising fanfare only to be disappointed... this actually over delivered to already lofty expectations and anticipation. This is destination dining. I drove from the South Bay Beach Cities, about 20 mins or so with light to no traffic and taking the 405 North freeway and streets. Not a huge hike nor inconvenient trek, but many who live within a small and defined social bubble who dare not venture beyond a few miles or minutes from their neighborhood... this might be considered "too far" for fried chicken strips. Well... I'm here to be a testimony to endorse the travel as being very well worthwhile to endure and get rewarded on a Thursday for their $2 Tenders Here's my review on the actual CHICKEN HEAT LEVEL Level 1 "Country Style" is my favorite, it's the basic chicken that's battered and fried. No spicy heat no seasoning, just pure flavorful batter and moist tender chicken (not sure if it's pre-marinated or not, but it's tasty). Level 2 "Cool" they described as "seasoned" not "spicy" so it has flavor to it but not hot spicy taste heat they state "No Heat" in the description. I like this second best. DISCLAIMER, I'm not a fan of spicy heat, so that's my bias. Level 3 "Glow" this is where the spice begins they told me. It's menu described as "Mild" heat. I tried it because although I'm not a fan of spicy chicken, and don't tolerate the Nashville "HOT" flavors, I'm often fine and won't faint with some mild levels. This was good and okay, where it wasn't too spicy, but when I taste chicken, I want to take the batter and meat more than the seasoning, so this was my 3rd favorite (you can probably see a trend here on how I grade) Level 4 "Spark" described to have "Medium" heat and it was okay. I could eat it without seeking water. I'm simply not a huge fan of spice so I'd put this in 4th place. I'd recommend you try several flavors. Level 5 "Hot" is supposed to be where Ghost Peppers are introduced, so I passed on trying it. I was going to consider it if Level 4 was a wimpy spice and could level up, but Level 4 was good enough and I stopped there. Level 6 "Bonfire" is X-Hot Level 7 "Inferno" is XX-Hot It goes without saying, if I passed on Level 5, I also did pass on Level 6 and Level 7. REVIEW OF THE CHICKEN... Quality and Quantity. The pieces are large sized, they basically feel like a full center cut white meat breast fillet in quality moist tenderness and size. It's roughly 2x as large as most "tender" / "strips" and one could feed a child or maybe even an adult. Two (2) is sufficient to fill a belly even without sides. I'm going to say that the $2 Thursdays is a good price, good deal. It's a perfect price point that affords people to try more "risk free" and indulge. I did not purchase any of the "Sauces" as I enjoy the flavor of chicken and feel that any food that requires a "sauce" to potentially override and mask the flavor of the original food might mean the food is sub-par, needing a flavor boost. I apply that logic to steaks (no steak sauce!), fish and anything else, aside from BBQ (which often can be dry and need moisture) foods. So, I'm saying for me here at Red Chickz... I didn't need any sauce. If it was "free" (complimentary) I'd consider trying them to taste test review, but as an added expense it seemed unnecessary (and ultimately, I love my food fine without any sauce) They're great fresh and hot as they cook to order. I had to wait about 30 minutes (I personally blame ordering the Milk Shake that's easy for the kitchen to hold off or neglect for the added delay) but feel the average is probably 10-15 mins when it's not busy and then 20-30 mins when it is busy, taking in account they cook fresh to order. I got the "App" and registered to join their loyalty club and got a free order of "Donuts" desert by ordering. It was tasty and fresh. So, after this experience, I'm wanting to try their Jumbo Shrimp and Potato Wedges. I'd probably stick to the tenders for the pure protein play over a sandwich with the filing carbs of the bread. The Milk Shake was okay, not bad at all, but consumes calorie and sugar allocations so I could easily do without the shake ($4 sm / $5 med), but was worthwhile trying out. Parking seemed like it could be tough in both finding a space and navigating the parking lot, but it wasn't too bad when I visited shortly after traditional lunchtime (post 12pm noon). The line wait wasn't much of a wait to order. The wait, as mentioned was more in the food prep as they do cook fresh to order as mentioned and it's not just a ton of chicken waiting to put into boxes under a heat lamp. It's FRESH. This is one of my more memorable experiences I was enthusiastic to share about on Yelp (with this review and the photos) as well as recommend to my friends. Lastly... "The Service" was very friendly and helpful, assisting me with the APP. No complaints here.

Chicken and potato wedges

This place is really good. Don't get your food too spicy because it actually is very spicy. Not in a bad way lol. Good food, good service.

I hit The Chickz on the regular because Thursdays are two dollar tenders. That is some excellent value and the product is so consistently great. The heat here is legit. The 2nd one from hottest will get your attention and sweat glands pumping. I like it it's manageable but usually go Blaze now 3 down. My wife ordered the Inferno one night and all I can say is doesn't Burns Twice , but Three Times. The staff is always friendly and do a good job getting orders correct, including well done potato wedges which are exceptional especially when WD. Sauces are a nice addition, more so for taters but ComeBack sauce pairs well with the spice. A few tables and high top counter seating inside, 3-4 picnic tables outside. This place can get pretty busy with dine in and take out /delivery so order times reach 15 minutes regularly.

Med Strawberry & Chocolate Shake, Molten Chocolate Cake, tenders (blaze, spark, bonfire), large wedges, Cheese Curds, Mac N Cheese

Came here on a Thursday for the first time ever. I had been very excited to try this place for a while because I had seen posts and heard from friends about $2 tenders on Thursday. I had opened a rewards account and scheduled a pick up order for 8 pm. We decided to get 6 tenders, a combination of spark (medium), bonfire (hot), and blaze (x-hot). For sides, we got a large fry, Mac and cheese and the cheese curds (bonfire spice level). A medium shake is $5 on Thursdays so we got one strawberry and one chocolate. We also received a free molten chocolate cake for signing up for the rewards. Then we ordered 2 50¢ containers of comeback sauce. Parking was easy when we arrived. There's a lot and street parking. The restaurant was pretty busy. A decent line of people ordering and also people picking up online orders. Our food ended up being ready a few minutes after 8 pm. All the employees seemed friendly and one even came to double check our order as we sat outside using one of the tables because he had forgotten my blaze tender. The inside is small and a little cramped and I don't think there are customer restrooms. But there were 4 large tables outside and it seemed like most people were getting their food to go. For the shakes, I'd say they were pretty standard and nothing too special. A good deal for the Thursday price. The strawberry tasted a little artificial and no chunks of real strawberry so I did like the chocolate more. Honestly necessary with the spicy meal though for some refreshing relief! The tenders were all very crispy crunchy and moist inside. The blaze was pretty spicy. I'm glad I got 1 to try and would probably continue to get just 1. The bonfire was probably the perfect spice level for me and my boyfriend said the spark was perfect for him. The chicken was very flavorful but honestly, not my favorite spicy friend chicken ever. Main Chick is definitely my favorite and I feel like they put a little sugar in their seasoning and more sweetness in their signature sauce. However, $2 tender and even their typical $4 tender makes it worth it! I'd be happy to come here more often if they had one in SFV. I'd probably try one of their sweeter sauces next time and wouldn't get the comeback again. The cheese curds were good, gotta eat them fast so the cheese stays pulling but they had good flavor. The Mac and cheese was standard, nothing special and don't need to get again. The fries were well seasoned and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I typically prefer a very crunchy smaller fry but for wedges, I would get these again! The lava cake was also good, soft and not too sweet. Overall an excellent deal and totally worth it for the price whether it's Thursday or not! Would come back!

Was headed to WeWork and needed a quick lunch. Decided to try this place cause of the lunch specials banner. The crunch on the tenders is unreal, sooo yummy! Great portions too. The wedges were solid and generously served. Next time I'll try the coleslaw since I think it would add a nice freshness to the meal. Friendly service, clean establishment, great food :)

Lunch Combo sandwich has definitely shrunk. Inflation has officially hit the hot chicken sandwich game!! Still friendly great workers and staff! Check out my latest photo with the lunch box . Legit like 40% smaller than my first visit lol

Aweful. Does this look appetizing to you? Old fryer grease nasty chicken. No juicy. No flavor flave. Pathetic.
Daniel B.

Pro-tip: the spice level from medium to hot is not like the other places. It's unfortunate because the jump in level is such where medium doesn't really have any spice, and hot is just way too hot. If you choose hot you're not gonna have a good time unless you really enjoy some heat. And this is coming from someone who can tolerate it better the most people. Proceed with caution! I appreciate the owner reaching out to me and having me back to try it again. I hate to say it but , I'm just not a fan . And that's okay. On my second visit, I have more of an opportunity to really offer my constructive criticism. Nothing but love here though. 1) the difference between medium and hot is night and day. Medium doesn't even singe my leg hairs, but hot (reaper pepper) is not going to be fun to consume. I feel their severely needs a few in between heat levels to satisfy those that want some heat, but don't want to spend the next day in the bathroom. There should -- at the very least-- be a medium plus and maybe another level . I recommend the owner considers bumping the hot to hot plus, and having another in betweener. I appreciate the crispness of the chicken, but I maintain the flavor isn't really there. The batter is pretty tasteless . At least at medium. I had the chicken sandwich, and the sandwich was more of a slider size -- it's quite small. I had the slaw as a side. There's nothing about it that screamed homemade. It was quite dry, and dressing was sparse. I also ordered the chocolate shake. It was a bit watery, but it definitely was sweet and malty. For whatever reason, it tasted like it had a dash of like coconut milk in it. Don't know if this is a bug not a feature.

Here for that Thursday $2 tender deal weekly like clockwork
Lilian F.

Can you even think of a better deal in town for hot chicken?! The answer is NO! For $2 a tender, without fault (except when we are out of town) my husband and I are here for their Thursday tender deal on the weekly. Parking is kind of chaotic (lot is oriented kind of weird) but usually with a decent amount of influx/efflux of people where you usually won't have issues with finding parking. There's also some curbside parking as well. ** Service: easy to order through their app (download it to get rewards) and pick up to save time waiting and more time eating delicious crispy chicken. They also know our names by now I think.. some weeks are busier than others, but usually very timely with our orders that coincide with the estimated time on the app ** Ambience: kind of small inside, some tables outside as well if you want to chow down ASAP. Nothing fancy but no complaints on my end. Usually lots of foot traffic on Thursdays. ** Food: I will be coming here every week until I develop intolerance to spicy food or fried chicken-- it's the thing I look forward to on Thursdays! You can choose between different levels of spice (even no spice) if you can't handle super spicy food. The crisp is immaculate, breading is not overdone/too thick where ratios are off compared to portion of the actual chicken. For the most part the chicken is usually cooked well/moist (only a handful of occasions where I can recall it was on the drier side). And, to repeat myself for the nth time, can you really beat this $2/tender deal? This literally feeds three people for $21 on Thursdays. I will forever be loyal to Red Chickz while I remain in the area (legitimately have not eaten hot chicken anywhere for the past 4 months, just reviewed our credit card statement, and I beg you to open up a location near me whenever I move out of town. MAKE YOUR STOP AT RED CHICKZ THIS NEXT UPCOMING THURSDAY BECAUSE IF YOU ARE NOT YOU ARE MISSING OUT.

The place itself is very modern and nice. Overall the vibe it basically a Houston's-type place. And service was good. All of the food overall was very good. Nothing really too crazy. To me, the menu is a little... boring. But, I will say everything was tasty. We got the Cajun shrimp salad (which was simple and clean but tasty), a cheese pizza for the kids (which was good!), a brisket French dip (very tasty and a horseradish sauce with a LOT of bite), a vodka pasta (was good but it actually is TOO big a portion to eat by one's self), the Ahi Tuna frites (the tuna was good and served with a nice green sauce), and the grilled cabbage side (with brown butter and some pomegranate molasses--it was actually my favorite thing!). The key distinctive thing about Laurel Grill seems to be that a lot of things get cooked by that fire which really adds a nice smoky touch (like the shrimp and the ahi tuna and the cabbage). My only major complaint would be the fries were just okay. After a minute or two they weren't crispy anymore. As good as everything else was, I thought they would step things up with the fries but they were just average. Anyways, while I overall am not that excited by the menu, it definitely is a great place to go where everybody will be able to find something tasty to eat. And overall, the portions were pretty fair.

I was a little concerned about some of the reviews but we had such a wonderful experience. A lot of the negative reviews had to do with customer service, and our experience was quite the opposite. We were served everything quickly and attentively, and our main server gave great recommendations and apologized for "waits" when there wasn't even a wait! After we were seated, we asked to be moved to the pretty spacious table next to the large window, and they were happy to accommodate. Giving us a memorable experience seemed to be very important to all of the staff. Drinks - I fell in love with the Dillinger (Old Forrester, Mexican corn whiskey, licor de elote). It tasted like a slightly sweet kettle corn old fashioned. My husband actually ordered it, and traded drinks with me because I loved it so much. Food - We ordered the scallop crudo to share, the house baguette, and French onion soup to share. I'm glad we ordered the scallops and the strawberry pairing was unexpected and interesting. My personal fave was the soup, which our servers kindly split into 2 tureens for us to share (soup is pretty hard to share otherwise, amirite?) It was so delicious that I found myself peeling the extra cheese from the bowl. For mains, I went with the Tagiatelle and husband ordered the steak frites. While the pasta was delicious and rich with flavor, the wagyu was one of the juiciest, most tender and well-seasoned steaks I've had in a while and I'm not even a big steak/red meat lady. Paul just ordered better than me overall! The live jazz band added even more to the beautiful ambiance. You wouldn't be out of place dressing fancy like we did, or even getting up to dance! It had an onion ring and a slice of bacon on there, too. I'm sure it mentioned that on the menu but I literally thought it was going to be a take on a plain cheeseburger. I was surprised and delighted. It's served with fries. My friends had fish and chips and a house burger. One of them has a particular aversion to yellow mustard which was on the burger. If that's something you don't like or other condiments, I would ask before you put in your order. Otherwise, they both liked their order and as a group we finished almost everything. All in all, it was a nice day for people watching and catching up with friends. Enjoy!

We went here for lunch sitting down at noon. Our food didn't come until after 1:00. We asked for the manager who also took 10 minutes to get to our table. She apologized and offered us free dessert which we didn't really want and a discount which wasn't on the bill. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND AND WILL NEVER RETURN. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN SOMETHING GOES AWRY. Clearly no idea how to handle delays.

Went here on a whim for a weekday brunch and was very happy!…read moreGreat outside area with pretty trees. Scrumptious food and yummy drinks.

I have been here for Happy Hour but this was my first brunch! So for easter brunch they had a pre…read morefixed menu for $32, included 1 app and 1 main. Drinks: Macha latte was decent. Nothing to revert about. But wow, that mimosa was filled to the rim! I got the speciality weekend brunch spritz. I don't remember what it was call but it was strong and refreshing. Yes. The spritz was strong or my tolerance has gone way down. First course: I was pleasantly surprised by how big the Avacado toast was. It had a jam at the bottom that brought the whole dish together. Like my HH review, some micro greens would have taken my heard back. I just love microgreens! Deviled eggs and croquetts I've tried before. They were both pretty good. Croquetts can't do wrong. Mains: I got the crab Benedict and it was awesome! I filled up on my avocado toast so I took half of it home. There was plenty of crab and the poached egg was running and bright orange. That's some healthy eggs! Fresh toast looked amazing as well, same with the burger. I know the burger was also popular at happy hour for the price but I was told it was very good. I'll have to go next time just for that. Parking: Just park by the paid lot by trader Joe's or off Cardiff. Easier than trying to find parking on that street. The paid lot is $1 free and $1 additional hours. The patio was super charming with all the natural lights and shaded by the trees. The service was decent as well. Will took good care of us.

Great food and vibe! Definitely recommend sitting outside on a warm day for people watching!…read more Everything we tried was good. The Saag Paneer, the butter chicken, the chicken korma... the eggplant dish i cant remember the name of lol. Naans were also good though I couldn't really taste the rosemary in the rosemary garlic naan. Overall everything was flavorful, with good texture! Definitely a fan and would recommend! Stay Cheerful

Not bad. The butter chicken was tasty. A little too spicy and also there were still some bits/chunks of chili that made it particularly spicy for some bites and I had to take a break lol. The roti was not bad. The reason I'm giving 3-stars is because the value is terrible for fine food. Can get really delicious Indian food like this elsewhere for way better. I think the butter chicken was like $27 and didn't even come with rice : ( The portion was pretty large though. Maybe you should just share one between two people and add rice. I usually just review on taste, but the price point just felt a little egregious. The ambiance is pretty and it's a nice lil area, so if you want a vibey elevated spot for Indian it's fine, but the food is definitely just standard and fine, not really worth it for me personally.
