Years ago, when the hot chicken trend took off, I spent some time going to multiple spots in LA. This is only one of two that I would highly recommend. The other is Raging Hot Chicken, which used to operate out of a car wash but now has its own spot in Sun Valley. Main Chick's spice levels are up there. Mild is more like medium, medium is more like hot, and hot is what you'd expect something out of hot ones to taste like. The buns are always soft, the slaw is never overly mayo'd, and the chicken won't ever be dried out. The ultra highlights for me have to be the crinkle-cut fries (my favorite cut of all time), which come seasoned with what I would say is something like creole seasoning, but don't quote me. Their mac and cheese is quality, none of that low-grade elbow pasta doused in cheese that will have you holding your stomach. Trust me, get it. Now, the only thing keeping this from a 5 is the sauce. You see, back in 2020, it appears that they used to make fresh batches because they came in dixie cups. In 2025 they come prepackaged in sealed containers and I can taste the preservatives. But hey, you might not taste it. If you want a quality hot chicken experience in LA, this is really it. read more

To the reviewer who said to get the medium spice level and that it's not spicy... you wrong for that!!!! I love spice and can handle spice. Most places spicy isn't even spicy to me. So when I was deciding which spice level to order for the first time from here, I read a review on here that said mild has no spice and to go with medium and even that might not be that spicy. Well let me tell you, the medium spice level is really spicy like to the point that my nose was runny and it kinda made my lips numb. I had to drink some milk. Next time I will be getting mild for sure! I got the sandwich and the dark meat combo. The fries were so perfect, crispy with a flavorful coating on the outside but moist on the inside. The chicken thigh was perfectly cooked. The drumstick was a little dry tbh. Their special sauce is kinda reminiscent of Chick-fil-A sauce but a little different. I know this is a chicken place but for me the star of the show was the ube cheesecake!!!! Omg if they sold an entire pie I would buy it. I love ube flavored anything but this was probably the best ube anything I have ever tried. The crust is what makes it. I can't even describe it. It's crunchy and has a caramel like flavor and it the perfect texture to go with the creamy ube cheesecake filling. The girl that raved about it on here was spot on with that. A solid alternative to all those that don't care to wait 45-60 minutes in line or not close in proximity to howlin rays. Very similar taste; but the breading is more mild in flavor. I've been ordering from this Main Chick location for several years now when visiting my brother. It is a Ghost kitchen meaning you can go in to pick up your food or have it delivered through a service. I usually get tenders or the leg/thigh and everytime the crisp and flavor is there. Nicely seasoned chicken, spicy but not too spicy, i like their mild and medium. Fries can be a little too salty but since i dont eat there everyday it's probably fine. I did see reviews mentioning how their orders were not correct which is unfortunate, i have not had this issue but maybe that's because my order is smaller. Eating food that is sitting around in a container will never taste as fresh as eating piping hot out of the kitchen at a restaurant. This is a cold hard fact! I always consider that when reviewing orders that are delivered. The MC Sandwich (Mild) is a perfect balance of flavor. A bit of spice, but not overpowerful or overbearing. My wife is picky about food, which I've mentioned before, and she ate it later in the day and still said it was excellent. I thought it was a well-balanced sandwich. The Combo 2: 3 Chicken Tenders, Seasoned Crinkle Cut Fries, Pickles, MC Sauce Mild, Medium, and Spicy Tender was another great pick. I liked that I was able to try one of all the spice levels to see which one I liked the best. I think the medium was manageable for me. I like the spicy and could handle it. The spicy here is not as spicy as Howlin' Rays. I couldn't handle the spicy at Howlin' Rays, but could handle it here. The MC sauce is pretty good. People are saying the ranch is good. Great chicken with variety of spice levels. The tenders are basically g and juicy and made fresh for each order. The fries are crispy and seasoned well as well. Main Chick is not a stand alone restaurant it's part of a group of different ones but you are able to be in and out pretty quick. Main chick hot chicken makes super awesome hot chicken sandwiches. You can pick the spice level and me being a spice enthusiast I always choose the second to highest level. The sandwiches could have been a bit a crisper but were solid. I went to pick up a order on 3-7-26 around 10:30 in the evening and I rang the bell two or three times before I got any response when I got a response it was someone screaming from the back. I'll be there in a minute. I waited another five minutes. No one came and I rang the bell again then he shows up and I had the first thing I said is the manager here and he said no I said OK. This is inside the Colony food hall type of place. You can order online via Colony for pickup or delivery or order in person at the kiosks. In addition to Main Chick you can order from other brands like ramen and falafel and ice cream. Seating is available and there's some parking in the back. Can sit indoors or heated outdoors. So let me explain how I came to a 3 star rating and then you decide. I absolutely love a Nashville Hot Chicken Sando - period. My first experience was a Howlin' Rays in Chinatown and it still remains my top pick. Since they are nowhere near the Westside I found Main Chick and I would say it's taken 2nd place however there's other things to consider. --Not as crispy of chicken or fries --Reheats very poorly (not sure any of them reheat great tho) --Small sandwich in general (not as pictured) but if you get the combo you get a 2nd tendy! --Pricey! I know everything is but $20 bucks. argh! But my Number One reason for the lack of an additional star is their stinginess with their MC sauce. 78 cents per side and their sides were very small in the little plastic containers but now they are pre-packaged in in what looks like ketchup packages (but smaller) and 78 cents each. Now if you use MC sauce for your sando and fries you're screwed. They say it's the same amount. LIES!!!!! I recently ordered the standard combo and you one get one side of MC sauce. I usually purchase 2 extras sides. I use it all or have a wee bit leftover. Not anymore. I barely had enough for the sandwich alone. I'd need probably 8 or 10 more to cover the fries too. Eight would be an extra $6.24 pre tax. WTH! Just writing all this making me want to remove another star but I'll stop at 3 stars. When asked, she wouldn't give me her name and her ID card on her lanyard was turned around. Coincidence? Both the MC and ranch sauce were highly reviewed, so I got one of each. I preferred the buttery ranch to the MC, which tastes like Thousand Island, a little sweet. But the sweetness tempered the Medium level spiciness of the chicken. The chicken was good and tender and Medium had more kick than I expected. It comes with iceberg lettuce, pickles, and a few carrot slivers - way to make it healthy, LA! I agree with many Yelpers that the prices are steep. The strips were massive (I don't know if you can get strips that big anywhere nowadays) there's no official tables inside but there are a few long tables with multiple seats. You have three spice levels to choose from, and we varied the spice level, mild for the sandwich and medium for the tenders. The medium is decently spicy and a good choice for the tenders especially with the sauce, but despite enjoying a little burn getting the sandwich in mild was the right call. The milder spice didn't overwhelm the other flavors and created a nice balance. Most importantly, the chicken itself was juicy and crispy. The fries on the other hand were thick and dense. Some days the fries are heavily seasoned or underseasoned. The MC sauce does make up for it with its unique taste, which I always dip my fries and chicken sandwich in. Overall, this place is a solid chicken sandwich shop. Ordering is relatively easy off the kiosk. Parking is easily accessible and does not require street parking payment. Decided to check this place out since my partner and I are obsessed with Nashville Hot Chicken. In terms of location, it may be easy to miss. It's in a building with a bunch of other restaurants (though there's only one pick up counter and ordering station). They have an ipad where you can order there or you can order online through their app. My partner got one of the combos and I got an A La Carte sandwich. Their chicken itself was very juicy! The crust part is very powdery with flavor. Their fries are also really powdered with salt and flavor (which makes the fries a little too salty for my taste but that's based on preference I think). But they did seem fresh out of the oil since they were so crispy - I loved it. The sauce was good! It's similar to like a Canes sauce. The chicken sandwich without it is pretty dry so you need to add it on there or dip it. Their tenders were good as well! They don't go too heavy with the batter which I like. Do note, the tenders and sandwich are quite small. That makes this place a little pricey. The sandwich is not a typical sandwich size, probably 2/3 of what you'd expect. Stopped by for a quick bite and shared a chicken sandwich combo with a friend. Service was okay, interaction was limited (may be a good thing?). You ordered on a tablet and waited for your food on the side. The wait was a bit long, around 15-20 minutes. There is a decent amount of outdoor seating to the side, which was quite nice. The food itself was quite good although inconsistent, the chicken was delicious (hot, crispy, and nicely spiced) while the coleslaw and pickles were a great pairing. The fries were okay and I wanted to like them more, they were too salty but the rest of the seasoning was nice. Sadly, my buns were burnt while the other chicken sandwich's bun was fine.
