This review is based on my visit on the morning of Valentine's Day. This place popped up on a search for coffee in the area. It was only a 2 minute walk from where we were so we decided to check it out. On the outside was a holiday themed drink menu and the Butter Me Up sounded like something we'd enjoy. It was a cookie butter latte which whipped cookie butter and a cookie crumble on top. It may sound very sweet but it was actually perfectly balanced and allowed the strength of the espresso to come through. The barista was very kind and patient with us. She also let us know that they were hosting a karaoke night later that day. We waited in the patio connected to the cafe for our drinks. I've been a regular customer here for quite some time and have always made a purchase when visiting, whether it's a coffee, Coke, or food. Today, my friend and I ordered a Coke and an ice water and sat in the lounge area to work on assignments. The café was far from full, with only a couple of other people in the lounge and plenty of open seating available. After about an hour, the owner came over and rudely told us we were "holding two tables over a Coke" and pressured us to order more. I understand businesses need customers to make purchases, but there is a respectful way to communicate that. What made the situation worse was that after I ordered a coffee, she immediately turned to my friend and basically stared him down with a strict look, clearly expecting him to order something too. I explained that we were going to split the coffee, because we're both trying to lose weight, but she continued making the situation uncomfortable. Staring down a customer and making them feel pressured to spend more money is not how you treat paying customers. What makes this even more frustrating is that the menu is already severely overpriced for what is offered. On multiple occasions, I've heard the microwave running while food was being prepared. Paying premium prices for what appears to be microwaved food is disappointing enough without being pressured to spend even more. Even though we only ordered a Coke initially, and have only done that once before, we were still spending money. As regular customers who come here often, you would think that would be appreciated rather than criticized. Be thankful people are still choosing to spend money at your business. Honestly, after today's experience, it's no wonder this place is often empty. Customer service and hospitality matter, and making customers feel unwelcome, guilty, or pressured to spend more is a great way to drive them away. The interaction was uncomfortable enough that I asked for my food to be packed to go and left. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. It's a cafe, not a 5 star restaurant. People want to come here to work on assignments or have a coffee and talk. Even though I didn't want to spend 9 dollars on a coffee, I still purchased something. If you're broke, just say so, lady. Trust me, at this rate, this place will close down soon. Like I said, this is a cafe where people come to have a drink, relax, talk, study, or work on assignments; not a restaurant where customers are expected to order a full meal every time they sit down. Holy beans this place is expensive for coffee! I'm not a Glendora local so take it with a grain on salt but I needed a quick coffee pit stop for the drive back home after being on the mountain and this spot was open until 5pm. I ordered a large honey latte with oat milk. What I got was a $7 12oz latte + $1.50 for alt milk + $.24 surcharge + tax & tip = almost $11 for my coffee :/ I don't know if this is par for the course in this area but coming from San Diego a large latte is usually 16oz and alt milk is maybe $1 extra (and a lot of places don't upcharge). Have brunch with some girlfriends on a rainy day. This a cute place with plenty of seating indoors and in their covered patio area. Even though we were there for brunch, my three friends were in the mood for their lunch menu LOL. Our server (maybe owner?) was accommodating and made them lunch. Met up with my friend Te-See today for a lovely lunch at The Red Cafe. This was a great find by her! Plenty of seating indoors as well as outside. There's also a hookah lounge, but we didn't venture over there--not our thing. Jacqueline was our server and she was so sweet and helpful. She knew the menu very well and prided herself on making the best brown sugar lattes. Well, that was enough for me--we had to try one! I opted for the dine in cup because I wanted the design in my mug lol. It was remarkable! Sooooo good! I couldn't decide between the avocado toast, which my friend ordered and it looked incredible, or the beef shawarma. Jacqueline again suggested the shawarma, so I went with that as well! The serving size was perfect and it also came with a small side salad. The flavor was immaculate! I didn't think I'd finish it, but I did--I couldn't help myself! Ordered one drink and was sitting with my friend and having a good conversation and the owner (old lady) told us that we are taking up spots when there were many open seats available and pressured us to order food when we already ordered drinks in a very unprofessional way. We Owner made us feel very unwelcomed and very money hungry people. This is not a restraunt, it is a cafe. EDIT to the owners response: I would also like to clarify a few things regarding the owner's response. I have never used the café's Wi-Fi and instead use my own personal hotspot. We also do not visit as frequently as claimed.We typically come about once every 2-3 weeks. Over the months we have purchased food, iced coffees, drinks, and hookah on multiple visits. The last time we visited before this incident, we purchased iced coffees. On this visit, we ordered a Coca Cola and were taking our time deciding whether we wanted anything else. We were repeatedly approached and pressured to order more, and were told we were taking up seating despite there being only a few other customers in the café and several open tables available. What made this experience disappointing was not being asked to order, but the way we were treated. We felt uncomfortable, unwelcome, and embarrassed by the repeated pressure. First time at this restaurant and wish we would have come sooner. We sat outside and even though it was in the high 80's there was a breeze blowing and it was very pleasant. I had a Savory Beef Crepe with mozzarella, lettuce and tomato and goddess dressing and a side salad. This was a perfect bland of flavors. The marinated meat was so tender and juicy you barely had to chew. My wife had Chicken Shawarma Wrap with chicken breast, garlic spread and pickles, wrapped in lavash bread and a side salad. If you have time to speak with the owner, you will know how much she cares about making food and everything was made perfectly. A friendly greeting and a great ambiance on the back patio followed by a very good breakfast bagel and Mexican inspired mocha latte. While the other Glendora Ave restaurants are buzzing on a mid-Saturday morning, the Red Cafe is peacefully quiet despite the great ambiance, service, and food. It's possible people stay away because they used to focus more on hookah, but while they still offer it, they told me it's more often enjoyed in the evening leaving a beautiful patio and ambiance for the brunch and lunch crowds if they want to give this place a try again. My wife and I visited a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The location itself is beautiful and well-designed, which is why this was so frustrating. We had high hopes, especially given how close it is to where we live. The service, however, was extremely poor. We repeatedly had to get up and approach the server ourselves just to place our order, request drinks, clear empty plates, and even ask for the check. There were long stretches without being checked on. What made it more discouraging was noticing the same server being attentive and friendly to nearby tables, while we were largely ignored. The food also took quite a while to arrive, and the portions did not feel justified for the pricing. We had planned to order dessert, but given how long everything else took, we didn't want to spend another 30+ minutes waiting for a crepe. I'm not writing this to attack the business, my wife and I genuinely wanted to like it. But between the service, slow timing, and portion-to-price ratio, it unfortunately ruined the experience for us. Sadly, this will likely be our first and last visit. My friend texted me this morning and asked if I had heard of this place. I lived walking distance for 8 1/2 years and never knew this was here. When she said the owners were Syrian, I knew I needed to check it out. I rushed to join her there and was met with the most delicious smells! And then greeted with amazing and warm, welcoming service. I ordered a seasonal coffee and a chicken shawarma wrap. The coffee was incredible! I don't like very sweet things but this was perfectly flavored without being overly sweet (if you come soon, it's the maple coffee with tahini). My wrap was delicious and the service impeccable! My friend gave me a taste of her breakfast sandwich that they had customized with Armenian meat and it was similarly yummy! We sat there for hours talking and catching up and the proprietor continued to bring us waters and never rushed us along. They also have an adorable patio setting that offers hookah (check for times) that we plan on bringing our monthly girls brunch to in January. I love this place! They have this feast you can buy for $35. We got this and the crepes and some green tea and latte and everything was perfect. I love this as a healthy alternative to brunch. Brunch at other places can be so unhealthy with complex carbs and grease, and this place felt like I was giving my body very healthy, whole, clean food. Came here after seeing they offer breakfast options, and given how little is offered on the menu and lack of anything indicating that breakfast was served only until X:XX, assumed that there would be no problem. That ended up being a poor assumption... Despite being the only customers, we were informed they stopped making breakfast, which was problematic since the "Too Breakfast" was one of the only things on the menu we could eat, and we weren't really in the mood for a salad when we were craving breakfast. Ended up just getting the house lemonade and a coffee, and after politely indicating we'd just stick with our drinks since they stopped serving breakfast, the lady proceeded to literally snatch the menues off the table and storm off with the most passive aggressive frustration I've seen from a food service employee to date.
