Overall the food was flavorless, the only thing that was decent or had flavor was the mix grill plate, the hummus had no flavor, tasted really weird, never had hummus that was oily with no seasoning. The beef wrap had no seasoning, the meat wasn't pleasant too much fat, every time you take a bite you get chunks of meat that you had to spit out and couldn't chew. I would only recommend the mixed grill plate. Avoid the hummus. Amazing salad, rice and the meats were really grilled to perfection, so much flavor. The chicken wrap was also mid. I just got back from this place, opened up the bag only to find both orders with the wrong sides. I ordered 1 beef kabob with tzatziki and hummus and 1 chicken kabob with tzatziki and hummus. I specifically said hummus and tzatziki for both orders. I never mentioned salad at all. The food was good. This place has the potential to be a 5 star... but certainly not on this trip. The two bags of utensils i received, one was open and had no fork or knife. I hoped they checked these things before handing me a used utensil bag with missing items. The beef was overcooked, leaving a dry and crunchy taste. The worst part of this entire ordeal is that i tipped $5 when ordering. We were looking for a middle eastern places and this place popped up. We got there around 9pm, which is not late for a hookah lounge/ restaurant. The place was empty... with just one table with a few men were smoking hookah and playing games. The place could use a makeover because everything is falling apart. The roof has holes everywhere, chairs are ruin with stain and rusted... leather chairs are ripped. I didn't dare to use the bathroom after what I observed . Here comes the food. I will give their food 3 and half stars because the rice was fluffy and most meat has good balanced flavor but the chicken was dry. We ordered tea pot, they brought us an old ugly , rusted , cracked tea kettle!... not tea pot. We ordered one hookah to share... it tasted burnt right away with only 5 minutes after we smoke. At the end of the night, we noticed that they charged us more than what's on the menu. It's so important that businesses should charge what's on the menu. On the menu, hookah is $21 , we got charged for $23. Mixed meat plate , they charged us $26.99 but on the menu says $23.99. And lastly, Fatayer cheese was listed as $7 but was charged for $9.99. Everything was over charged than what's on the menu. Friendly servers and the owner seems friendly... but too bad for bad business practice. It was late at night and we didn't get to have dinner at normal time and was looking for late night food that wasn't junk food . We saw Jasmine Cafe in West Covina was still open and called in and ordered the Mixed Grill. When I got there they were just getting the meat off the grill nice and hot ! The aroma in the car was making it hard to wait to get home to eat it . It was so good that I had to keep reminding myself to chew good because I wanted the next bite for the flavorful taste. Now this is what amazed me on top of the great food . I've ordered from other Mediterranean places so this is not my first time experiencing the dishes . What stood out to me is #1, it was last minute order before closing and from the phone being picked up with a friendly voice that didn't feel like she was annoyed to get a late order before closing . That is very rare . Sometimes you worry about the quality of food you get when it's closing time . Is it left over ? Or is it going to be cold and stale? I called in my order for pickup and they had it hot, fresh and ready in the 10-15 min it took me to Drive over. The service was great! The gentleman who helped me was named Ron and he was so kind and generous! Now the food! I got the falafel entree plate. It was 3 falafel on a bed of rice with grape leaves and I thought I'd prefer the falafel (since it's my fave in general) and I DID! It was soooo perfect. This is family run establishment located in the plaza just outside of the Regal Edwards Cinemas in West Covina. They serve decent Mediterranean food and have hookah available as well. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. We ordered the Kafta plate, beef kebab plate, chicken kebab plate, beef kebab wrap, fatouch salad, and a side of fries. The plates all came with a protein on a bed of rice, with a side of salad and hummus (but no pita). Presentation was nice and the flavors of everything were nice. The only thing I think they can improve on is the portions. The wrap was pretty flat and didn't have much inside and the plates had pretty small helpings of protein. My family members are pretty small in size and don't eat as much as other people, and my whole family was still kind of hungry after dinner... so if you have a bigger appetite, you will likely have to order more to feel satisfied. read more
