I have consigned with Haley Ross for years and plan to continue to do so because of of her genuine kindness, knowledge, and follow through. She always goes above and beyond! Haley arranges my consignments seamlessly from time of pick up (or drop off) to when the items go live on the RealReal website. The new RealReal boutique on Walton Street is very fun (and quite addictive) to shop. They showcase an excellent selection of jewelry and handbags that I adore. You could easily not even know that you were shopping consignment because the items are pristine and merchandised so beautifully. I rarely leave negative reviews, but after my experience with The RealReal, I feel obligated to warn anyone considering purchasing fine jewelry or luxury watches from them. I purchased a Rolex for more than $7,300 with the expectation that the information provided by The RealReal was accurate. After consulting with an independent Rolex watchmaker, I learned that the documentation associated with my watch contained an incorrect reference number. That may sound like a minor clerical error, but it is not. The reference number is a critical part of identifying a watch, and inaccurate documentation could create significant issues if I ever decided to resell it or needed to establish authenticity. As it was explained to me, inaccurate paperwork could create legal complications if the watch were ever represented for resale using the incorrect information. The value of a luxury watch is tied not only to the watch itself but also to accurate documentation. I repeatedly requested corrected paperwork but never received it. Ultimately, I had no choice but to return the watch because I was no longer comfortable owning a luxury item with inaccurate documentation. What was even more disappointing was my experience returning it. The store director, Bri, handled the situation in a way that I found dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than listening to my concerns, she repeatedly told me to "calm down," attempted to cut me off while I was speaking, and appeared more concerned with preventing other customers from hearing about the issue than addressing the underlying problem. I explained that anyone spending more than $7,300 on a luxury watch would reasonably be upset after discovering that the documentation they were given was inaccurate. When I asked Bri to stop speaking with me because I no longer wanted to engage with her, I walked away to create some space. Instead of respecting that boundary, she continued following me throughout the store. I found her behavior threatening and intimidating, especially after I had clearly communicated that I no longer wished to interact with her. Thankfully, Wendy stepped in after that interaction and completely changed the tone of the experience. She listened, treated me with respect, answered my questions professionally, and helped facilitate my return without making me feel dismissed. I genuinely appreciated her willingness to step in after I no longer felt comfortable working with Bri. I also want to recognize Keyanna, who originally sold me the watch. She was warm, kind, and professional throughout the sales process. My negative experience was not because of either Wendy or Keyanna. Both represented excellent customer service. My biggest takeaway is this: I no longer have confidence in The RealReal's authentication and documentation process for fine jewelry and luxury watches. I was extremely disappointed to learn that an independent watchmaker does not necessarily inspect these watches before they are sold and that serious documentation errors can make it to the customer. For purchases of this value, accurate authentication and documentation should be established before an item is ever listed for sale. Unfortunately, this experience completely eroded my trust in purchasing fine jewelry or luxury watches from The RealReal. While I appreciate the professionalism shown by Wendy and Keyanna, I cannot recommend buying high-value watches or jewelry from a company that provided inaccurate documentation and then handled my concerns in this manner. read more

Before my appointment, I confirmed in writing with a RealReal representative that this would be a valuation-only appointment, completely non-committal, no onboarding, no signatures, no banking information unless I chose to consign. I confirmed these terms multiple times. I also informed them in advance that I would be bringing 15 bags. I arrived in the loading zone for my 2 PM appointment as instructed. The manager directed me to unload all 15 bags and place them in their intake area so the evaluation could begin. She then told me I could not stay parked there and needed to find parking elsewhere, despite my having asked in advance where to park and receiving no response. I followed her instructions exactly. When I returned, I was told I was late and could not be seen. The same manager who accepted my bags, directed their placement, and sent me to park used the time it took me to follow her own instructions as the reason to deny my appointment. The explanation then changed entirely. This was not a valuation appointment. It was a full onboarding session requiring personal and banking information, which is why they were unable to evaluate even a few of the bags. The exact opposite of what I had been told in writing. When I asked how they planned to evaluate 15 bags in one hour while completing onboarding, there was no answer. What followed was repeated pressure to leave my items there despite my having declined clearly and multiple times. My bags were already in their intake area. The terms had already changed. And they kept pushing. When I pointed out the discrepancy and began documenting the interaction, it escalated immediately. She said "no" when I asked to record the convo; hence, I took a photo, which is legal in a public retail space. The manager moved toward me and put her hands on my phone. When she could not provide any rationale for the misrepresentations, she loudly called security and had me escorted out. As I was already walking out the door, she followed me and loudly threatening to call the police, first over the photo, then claiming I was causing a disturbance because I turned my back to her, as I was actively leaving at her request. No one acknowledged the discrepancy. No one attempted to resolve it. The response to a legitimate concern was escalation, intimidation, and removal. If you are planning to bring valuable items to this location or any RealReal location, confirm everything in writing before you go. Once your items are in their intake area, store, warehouse, the dynamic changes. Update: Within hours of posting this review and submitting a formal complaint, I received an automated email from The RealReal informing me that my account has been permanently closed. No one addressed the physical contact made by their staff member. No one addressed why the terms of my appointment changed after my bags were already in their intake area. No one addressed the pressure I received to leave my items in the store overnight. read more

I urge you if you are going to sell your stuff places like please do your homework. These people have put me through hell and back. I've seen since February of this year until now. They came to my house picked up over 25,000 to 30,000 designer merchandise and I was assured that they would not sell anything if I did not agree with the pricing. That's where the nightmare began the pricing I did not agree with at all. It was way $15,000 in bags and they offered me $1700 and had the audacity to remove commission !! I told absolutely not shit my things back immediately the first box I should've drove down there and picked it up, but I didn't. I trusted them. It's 40 minutes away. gonna happen. What happened was I never saw that box again ever it was not sent to my to be signed off on by UPS it was sent to the UPS store in I had to find out by checking my email when I went to go pick up the box to get my things. There was no box someone had picked it I said well who I don't know someone the person answered. Well, don't you sign or take ID no so they were also accountable and rather than doing the correct thing and being decided to take it as a sale against against my wishes, knowing they were in the would have to pay much more than that and fees for the item besides the sentimental value that I would never they had the audacity to treat it as a sale and even deducted commission fees and sent me a lousy check for lowball me by over $12,000 basically saying there are your items but we decide what to do with them. This is unacceptable I said absolutely not. sent the remainder of the things and the third box there were four missing items in the which the employee add the four items onto your account and we'll reimburse you for them for the months it's been tag you're it tag you're it. I've written letters. I've called corporate. I've even called The RealReal now I have to drive down there this week. Where are my bags? Where are my four other missing items worth $1800 which by the way if you have any attached chain, you know if you have a Louis Vuitton red bucket bag, and buy separate for 400. They'll remove the chain and take it. I'm in a struggle to get my at least some of my money back. I no longer trust this company, they traumatize me causing me a nervous breakdown and they don't care. Today was the latest shenanigans when they sent me a letter. Or I my email that the UPS store manager signed off package for Mary from The RealReal. I was taken by surprise. I wasn't expecting anything. Maybe it's my bags I got excited. I went there today Sunday to check the bag was small size, and I knew it was in my the majority of them were smaller and the audacity of the woman that owned the UPS store said well how do you know they weren't your like trying you know entrapment they don't take accountability and have to reimburse the victim. Their money I said because they're and I would know what size they would be in a much box. What happened to me was despicable disgusting bile. Every time I see number or leave my voicemail they avoid it. I told him if I took be a win-win situation and you would have to pay over 100 times but the trauma they caused . I'm tired. I'm exhausted from them. UPS is even worse. Why is it the Company Condo we're supposed to just shut up and take it. They violated credit consumer laws they violated, they committed criminal act they went in, but you know beyond their own guarantees as a company and lie. It was in new condition - no scratches, etc, YET The RealReal rated it with scratches on it and priced it at $249.00 By the time it sold and they deducted their % and charged me $15.00 to mail me the check, the check ended up being $138.00! read more

It's been an absolute NIGHTMARE working with The RealReal! The RealReal wasn't able to sell my two Rolex watches in the time they estimated so I requested them to be returned to me where I have an offer waiting. They sent my watches to the WRONG ADDRESS! I had to contact their customer service multiple times and they assured me the issue was corrected. One watch finally showed up (late) to the correct address BUT now it has SCRAPE marks on the bracelet that weren't there before, like they did a terrible job trying to polish it before listing it. And to make matters worse, one watch is still LOST! I get delivery notifications that two delivery attempts have been made when I have been waiting outside for the package--which means literally anyone could sign for my watch...wherever it is. And did I mention that they didn't insure the packages!? The Real Real is not a safe or serious place to sell your valuable items. They took so much longer than advertised to list the items too. I have mostly had good luck with TRR, mostly purchasing. However I purchased an expensive bracelet that when I revived the box and un boxed it was empty. I assume some inside job theft at their DC. But the scary part it they were NOT customer focused, they would not issue me a refund, they would not call me back, they kept giving me the runaround. What I thought would be a simple remedy turned out to be a bit scary... they have issues on their end and withhold refund of your funds in the thousands. Their call center is offshore and we definitely had challenges communicating and understanding each other, all while babies are crying the the background and a bunch of other noise. Unprofessional. I finally found their CEO on LinkedIn and sent her a PM. She never wrote back but like magic my issue was solved the next day. Is that what it takes for TRR to do the right thing? This company is damn joke... such unprofessional people. I bought a Prada bag that was $1,700. So excited for the bag to arrive so I can use it on my next travels. Well the bag arrived, looks amazing, and sadly the damn sensor is still on the bag. The damn unprofessional, lazy associate forgot to remove the sensor. So now I can't use my bag for my trip! I was told I can either send it back or go to a local store to remove. The inconvenience for me to drive 32 miles to remove something that the damn lazy associate forgot to remove. I sent them a brand-new, never-worn $700 jacket (received as a gift) that is still available in stores, along with a used white Marc Jacobs purse that I would describe as being in good condition. For both items, they sent me a check for just $22.00. Additionally, they sent me $3.00 for a brand-new pair of luxury-brand pants with tags still on and $4.50 for an Armani set (pants and shirt) that was in excellent condition. The Real Real is literally the worst company on the planet. Their advertisement is misleading and false. You do not readily recognize the deception of TRR until after you've submitted items for consignment. To avoid paying you any type of decent amounts they will separate a suit and sell it as a single item. Example: St John silk pant and jacket sold individually, this automatically decreases the payment amount to you. When the employees want items for themselves or family your items prices are reduced drastically. TRR caused me such stress until I came to the realization that my items were more-one-less stolen because that's his it felt.
