After mentioning all the wonderful reviews being the reason I stopped, he welcomed me inside to have a breakfast sandwich. The ambiance is very cozy, people were playing cards, music was on, it was clean and welcoming. My food was both generous & delicious, coffee was perfect - excited to go back for their specials. I brought it all down to the lakefront and a few people stopped to ask where I scored such a great breakfast. 100% worth the visit. Negative reviews seem to be pandemic related, or folks that don't experience sarcastic humor very often.

It had a great texture, with a nice glaze on top. It would have been even better if it had been warmed up. They didn't offer, and I never asked. (Next time.) Both people behind the counter were genuinely friendly and helpful. After placing your order, you get an electronic buzzer that lets you know when your order is ready. The food was done before the drinks, so we ended up going down a couple of times. A single buzz when the entire order was ready would have been fine. Atmosphere: The place has either a window from the sidewalk where you can order, or you can walk inside to order. There are a few tables in the same area where you order, or you can choose from additional seating in a room down the hall, upstairs, or take it outside. Lots of options. The guacamole isn't made fresh on-site, I happened to see the package from Costco, but it was actually very good. Service: Lots of very nice people here. My understanding is that there are a few paid staff members, but the majority of the people working are volunteers. Everyone we met was genuinely friendly and helpful. Ordering was easy. After placing your order, you get a number, and they deliver the food to your table. Atmosphere: It's a nice space. There's a smaller area where you place your order, along with some small tables. An adjacent larger room has additional seating and bigger tables. Lots of windows provide plenty of natural light, and there are areas that work well for smaller groups. My understanding is that the larger space is also used for meetings and gatherings by different community groups. It's a great facility for a community that wants to nurture neighborly goodwill and social involvement. This is definitely a place I want to support. Maybe there's a future volunteer barista position for me! :)
